<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD Group</a> has set a new residential price record in Queensland with the $30 million sale of the penthouse at its <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/one-burleigh-88-the-esplanade-burleigh-heads-qld-4220">ONE Burleigh</a> development in Burleigh Heads.

The sale equates to around $37,500 per sqm.

The two-level, 800 sqm penthouse, featuring five bedrooms, five bathrooms, five car spaces, and a private infinity pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean, was acquired by a Gold Coast-based entrepreneur, highlighting continued demand for ultra-premium beachfront product.

Selling agent Freddie Tehle of PRD Burleigh Heads said the result reflects tightening supply of high-quality, large-format apartments in Burleigh.

“There’s very limited opportunity to secure this level of scale and absolute beachfront position in <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/burleigh-heads-qld-4220">Burleigh Heads</a>,” Tehle said.

The sale comes as construction progresses on ONE Burleigh, a boutique development of 17 full-floor residences at 88 The Esplanade, scheduled for completion in early 2027.

Developed by MAYD Group and designed by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/architects/mas-architecture-studio">MAS Architecture</a> with interiors by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/interior-designers/sici-design">Sici Design</a>, the project has been positioned as a collection of house-sized beachfront apartments, each occupying an entire floor with around 381 sqm of internal and external living space.

When construction commenced, MAYD director Todd Mould pointed to the long-term resilience of premium coastal real estate as a key driver behind the project.

MAYD Group sets Queensland record with $30 million penthouse sale at ONE Burleigh in Burleigh Heads

Apartment developers in the Gold Coast are finding new, creative ways to differentiate themselves from competing projects, as new supply starts to flow through up and down the Coast.

Developer Big Projects brought in the renowned Sydney-based design studio YSG to craft the interiors for The Frederick, Big Projects' new Mermaid Beach project and YSG's first move into the multi-residential development space.

It was a strategic move for Big Projects to bring in a Sydney eye to the development.

“Our role is to give our design partners the space and freedom to explore,” says Matt Barrett, Director of Big Projects.

“We wanted YSG Studio to capture the essence of Nobby’s, to design a building that embraces life, light and connection, while creating a genuine sense of place.”

Architecture for the project was led by Plus Architecture, with landscape design by LDG.

SRQ Projects Director Nick Clydsdale, who is handling sales at The Frederick, says the majority of enquiry is coming from South East QLD and Victorian buyers who have been actively searching between Broadbeach and Mermaid Beach for some time.

"They’ve reviewed a number of projects, however this one has stood out for its design flair/ appeal,"&nbsp;Clydsdale says.

Melbourne-based property developer ALTA Property has this week achieved planning approval for the adaptive re-use of a former commercial tower into a $200 million, 169-apartment project at 10 Queens Road, one of the last developable sites along the Albert Park Lake-fronting boulevard.&nbsp;

Set within one of Melbourne’s most sought-after precincts and designed by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/architects/fraser-partners-0">Fraser and Partners</a>, the illustrious building will offer unparalleled views across Albert Park Lake, Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne CBD.&nbsp;

The adaptive re-use means that the Queens Road project will be a sustainability led, high-quality finished product, with a 62% saving in carbon emissions by re-using the existing structure rather than knocking it down and rebuilding.&nbsp;

Construction to commence at luxury Glen Iris townhome project, Orchard Mews

A rare new apartment development has been proposed on the fringe of St Ives Village.

Developer Newquest Property has lodged plans for a low-rise apartment project designed by well-regarded architecture firm Warren &amp; Mahoney, which is best known for its work in the multi-residential sector in Melbourne.

The building, proposed for a 1,916 sqm site on <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/st-ives-residences-3-5-memorial-avenue-nsw-2075">Memorial Avenue</a> opposite St Ives Village Green, has been designed to blend into the surrounding natural environment.

Of the 33 apartments proposed, 21 will be three-bedroom residences. The remaining mix includes nine two-bedroom apartments, one one-bedroom apartment and two four-bedroom residences. The development will be supported by 62 car parking spaces and 33 secure bicycle spaces.

The proposal would replace two single-storey brick buildings currently on the site.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

The 500-metre stretch of street facing Northcliffe Beach has been home to small, original walk-up blocks, many of which contain only a few apartments and date back to the 1960s.

Following the pandemic-fueled boom on the Gold Coast, land on Garfield Terrace has become a highly coveted commodity, with long-term unit owners seeing the value of their seven-decade-old apartments soar due to their prime location.

Sydney-based developer <a href="/developers/iris-capital">Iris Capital</a>, the developer behind the billion-dollar Victoria &amp; Albert in Broadbeach, was determined not to miss the opportunity to be part of the area's transformation.

In 2021, they acquired The Premiere, a block of just six apartments within an eight-level building built in the late 1980s. The true value of the site lay in its 865 sqm footprint, boasting 20 meters of beach frontage.

The Crisafulli Government has announced abolishing stamp duty on new homes for first home buyers will be the first action of Parliament this year, delivering major cost of living relief to Queenslanders.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The move will pave the way for thousands of first home buyers to save on upfront transaction costs, unlocking home ownership for more Queenslanders while also boosting housing supply across the State.&nbsp;

In the last decade, Queenslanders were locked out of the housing market with the state recording the lowest rate of home ownership of any state in the nation.&nbsp;

Abolishing stamp duty on new homes for first home buyers is just one of the actions the Crisafulli Government is taking to boost home ownership, including unlocking underused church and charity owned land for community housing, removing restrictions preventing first home buyers renting out rooms and kickstarting new development with a $2 billion investment in housing infrastructure.&nbsp;

A first home buyer purchasing a new house and land package in Toowoomba at the median price could save $24,730.&nbsp;

First home buyers would save $29,500 when purchasing a new build at the median price in Brisbane east, while in Logan-Beaudesert, they would have keep $6960 in their pocket.&nbsp;

Premier David Crisafulli said every Queenslander should have a place to call home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“We are unlocking more homes for more Queenslanders, more quickly,” Premier Crisafulli said.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“For far too long, stalling housing approvals and skyrocketing housing prices have shut the door on Queenslanders walking into their own home.&nbsp;

“For the past decade, the dream of home ownership has become a nightmare for Queenslanders.”&nbsp;

Treasurer and Minister for Home Ownership David Janetzki said the LNP would put Queensland back on top of the home ownership ladder within a decade.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“Queenslanders are losing hope in the Great Australian Dream of home ownership and the situation has never been more dire for young people wanting to purchase their first home,” he said.&nbsp;

“Never before have so many young Queenslanders wanted to own a home, and never before have so many believed it is out of reach.&nbsp;
