Queensland builder-developer MAYD has revealed the first look at its major North Kirra beachfront development, lodging amended plans that reduce the number of apartments and increase the proportion of larger residences.

The project is planned across a substantial 4,742 sqm amalgamated site spanning seven lots at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/2-6-pacific-parade-bilinga-qld-4225">2-6 Pacific Parade</a> and 27-33 Golden Four Drive in Bilin​ga, directly opposite Nor​th Kirra Beach.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD</a> secured the site for $32.5 million in 2025, in what was one of the Gold Coast's largest property transactions of the year.

The development will be delivered across two stages, with the first stage carrying an estimated gross realisation value of around $360 million.

The latest amendments seek to reduce the overall apartment count and shift the project further toward the owner-occupier market, with larger residences designed for buyers wanting considerably more space than traditionally offered in a beachfront apartment.

The residential mix will include townhomes, oversized two-bedroom apartments, substantial three-bedroom residences and four-bedroom homes.

MAYD has appointed Cera Stribley to lead the architecture and interiors, with the Melbourne-based design practice drawing on the beachfront setting through a series of ocean-facing terraces and heavily landscaped balconies.

Strong horizontal forms and curved balconies will define the exterior, with subtropical landscaping integrated throughout the building to soften the built form and increase the connection between the residences and the beachfront.

The project will also include an extensive collection of resident wellness and lifestyle facilities, continuing the broader shift across the Gold Coast's luxury apartment market toward larger homes supported by resort-style amenity.

MAYD Founder Todd Mould said North Kirra was increasingly appealing to buyers attracted to the more established, lower-density character of the southern Gold Coast.

"North Kirra presents one of the most compelling luxury residential opportunities currently emerging in Australia, combining absolute beachfront with the character and authenticity that buyers are increasingly seeking, and the same sense of tight-knit community that defined Burleigh and Currumbin perhaps 10 or 15 years ago," Mould said.

"With Gold Coast Airport on its doorstep, it also offers a level of accessibility that broadens its appeal across almost every market demographic."

The project comes as the southern Gold Coast continues to attract an increasing share of high-end apartment development and buyer activity.

Kirra in particular has emerged as one of the region's more tightly held beachfront markets, with its relatively low-density character, established surf and hospitality scene and proximity to Gold Coast Airport differentiating it from the higher-density markets further north.

Mould said those characteristics had informed the approach MAYD and Cera Stribley had taken to the project.

"We've worked closely with Cera Stribley to create a vision that is deeply connected to its surroundings," he said.

"Inspired by the coastline itself, the architecture has been shaped around space, privacy and resort-style living, creating a collection of homes that reflects the next generation of luxury on the southern Gold Coast."

MOTIV Managing Director Carly Cottam, who has been appointed to market the project, said buyer attention had continued to move south along the Gold Coast.

"Purchasers who may once have defaulted to Broadbeach, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise are increasingly recognising the value of a genuine beachfront location that offers lower density, strong amenity and a more established sense of community," Cottam said.

"Kirra has a powerful combination of growing demand and genuine scarcity. Beachfront supply is inherently constrained, the area remains relatively low density, and buyers are increasingly placing a premium on locations that feel established, uncrowded and authentic rather than heavily developed."

Cottam said the proximity to Gold Coast Airport was also proving increasingly important for interstate and second-home buyers.

"Being minutes from Gold Coast Airport makes it particularly compelling for interstate buyers, frequent travellers and second-home purchasers who can access an authentic coastal lifestyle almost immediately after stepping off a flight."

The acquisition takes MAYD's active development portfolio to more than $500 million, with the North Kirra project representing one of its largest undertakings to date.

Castle Hill, the longtime hub of the Hills District, has been one of the major beneficiaries of Sydney's Metro expansion, with improved connectivity helping drive continued population growth, development and buyer demand across the Hills District.

But despite that growth, the suburb has seen relatively few major new apartment projects brought to market over the past 18 months.

The project will comprise three residential towers alongside a hotel, restaurants, cafes and a skybar, more than 1,600 sqm of ground-floor retail and almost an acre of landscaped gardens.

It represents the largest project undertaken by Reve Group, the development arm of the Kassis family, which has been building across the Hills District for more than 30 years through Kassis Homes.

Nova Rêve also represents a significant step up from the family's first apartment development, Grand Rêve, which was delivered nearby on Garthowen Crescent.

Grand Rêve introduced larger, house-like apartment layouts and premium inclusions including Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances to the Castle Hill market.

Nova Rêve takes that approach to a precinct scale, combining the residential component with hospitality, retail and substantial public and resident landscaping.

Reve Group Managing Director Sam Kassis said the project reflected the family's three decades of building in the Hills, which has evolved from trophy homes on quarter-acre blocks to larger-scale apartment development.

"Grand Rêve was our first apartment project here and it showed us what this pocket of Castle Hill could be. Nova Rêve is the refinement of that idea: not just apartments, but a place the whole suburb can use," Kassis said.

A key part of that approach is the hotel, which has been designed to operate as an amenity for the wider Castle Hill community rather than solely hotel guests.

It will include restaurants, cafes, skybars and all-day dining, alongside conference and event facilities catering to business functions, community groups and private events.

At ground level, more than 1,600 sqm of shops and cafes will open onto the surrounding streets and landscaped areas.

Almost an acre of gardens designed by Land and Form Studios will run through the precinct, incorporating pathways, seating, barbecue areas and children's play spaces.

Reve Group's Romio Georges said creating an active ground plane had been central to the planning of Nova Rêve.

"There are gardens with pathways, barbecues, seating and play areas, shops and cafes opening onto the street, and a hotel with restaurants and a skybar that anyone in Castle Hill can walk into," Georges said.

The project's elevated position on one of Sydney's highest ridgelines will also provide apartments with outlooks toward the Sydney skyline, surrounding parkland and the Blue Mountains.

More than 80 per cent of the apartments will occupy corner positions, with Turner responsible for both the architecture and interiors.

Maréa Residences brings parkside apartments to Coolangatta

Melbourne developer PDG has secured Victorian Government approval for its $1.5 billion Southbank development <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-one-1-queens-bridge-street-southbank-vic-3006">The One</a>, clearing the way for the long-dormant riverfront site opposite Crown to finally be developed.

The Minister for Planning has approved the project at 1-29 Queens Bridge Street, with the Department of Transport and Planning issuing the planning permit following its assessment.

The approval will allow PDG to develop the prominent 5,059 sqm site with a major mixed-use tower comprising premium apartments, including branded residences, a luxury hotel and boutique office space.

PDG acquired the site in late 2024, with its position directly opposite Crown's main entrance and near Melbourne's Arts Precinct making it one of Southbank's most significant remaining development opportunities.

Designed by COX in collaboration with ODO and PDG, the tower's architecture draws on the movement of the Yarra River, with six vertical pleats running the height of the sculpted facade.

The project will also see the heritage-listed Queens Bridge Hotel restored and incorporated into the development&nbsp;with new hospitality and public uses, including a rooftop venue.

A significant component of The One will be its residential amenity.

More than 5,000 sqm of resident facilities will be delivered across a single level, making it one of the largest consolidated residential amenity offerings proposed in an Australian apartment development.

The planning approval also incorporates a major upgrade of Queensbridge Square, which PDG will deliver in partnership with the City of Melbourne.

The existing square will be revitalised as a new civic and pedestrian space along the Yarra River, strengthening the connection between the project, Southbank and the riverfront.

PDG Founder and Managing Director Vince Giuliano said the approval represented a major milestone for a site which has remained largely underutilised for more than 15 years.

“This is the most significant Planning Permit approval Melbourne has seen in recent years,” Giuliano said.

“For more than 15 years, this site has remained underutilised. This approval enables us to deliver a project that will contribute meaningfully to the revitalisation of Southbank, restore and reactivate an important heritage building, and create a new civic and hospitality destination for Melbourne.”

The latest approval follows an earlier planning permit issued by the City of Melbourne covering demolition works across part of the site at 9-29 Queens Bridge Street. Those demolition and early works are already underway.

PDG has also started generating early interest in the residential component from owner-occupiers ahead of a planned public launch in early 2027.

PDG secures approval for $1.5bn Southbank apartment development, The One

Local developer Harridan is seeking to turn its Woolloongabba apartment project into the first stage of a broader transformation of Burke Street, using a new 16-storey mixed-use building to establish a greener pedestrian connection toward the rapidly evolving Boggo Road transport and knowledge precinct.

The South East Queensland developer has filed plans for 154 apartments on the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/4-burke-street-woolloongabba-qld-4102">southern side of Burke Street</a>, where its proposal has been designed alongside a wider vision by LatStudios for the street.

That vision positions the southern side of Burke Street for buildings of 15 storeys and above, while envisaging lower-rise development of up to five storeys on the northern side to transition into Woolloongabba's existing character housing. It also proposes wider pedestrian verges, deep planting, new street trees and upgrades to the pedestrian approach to Boggo Road Station.

The Harridan development itself has been designed by Brisbane-based Arqus Design and will comprise 154 apartments across 16 storeys. The mix is weighted heavily toward two-bedroom apartments, with 121 proposed alongside 10 one-bedroom and 23 three-bedroom residences. There will typically be around 14 units per floor.

A lower-ground car park and three podium levels will accommodate 156 resident parking spaces, along with visitor and commercial parking. There will also be 154 resident bicycle spaces and 40 visitor bicycle parks.

Harridan is a family-owned developer and part of the Holmwood Highgate Group, with more than three decades of development activity across South East Queensland. Its portfolio spans residential, commercial and industrial property, with current residential projects including Riverbank on Byron in Bulimba, Esperance Residences in Carina and The Precinct at Kinross Road in Thornlands.

Wooloongabba has been popular for apartment developers, particularly since the announcement of the 2032 Summer Olympics games in Brisbane.

While there have been a lot of development applications, it has failed to materialize into real supply.&nbsp;

First look: Harridan plans Burke Street transformation beside Boggo Road transport hub

Sydney’s property market is known for high prices, competitive bidding, and mounting pressure on first home buyers. But change is on the horizon.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

The program introduces a shared equity model intended to reduce the upfront cost of entering the property market, particularly in high-demand urban areas such as Sydney.

The scheme operates under a shared ownership structure in which the federal government takes an equity stake of up to 40 per cent for new homes, or 30 per cent for existing dwellings. This arrangement allows eligible buyers to significantly reduce their loan size and avoid the added cost of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Under this model, purchasers can enter the property market with as little as a two per cent deposit, well below the traditional 10 to 20 per cent usually required. The government’s contribution is not a loan but a co-ownership stake in the property. As such, there is no interest or rent charged on its portion.

Because the government’s equity combined with the buyer’s deposit typically meets or exceeds the 20 per cent threshold, LMI does not apply. The remaining balance, generally between 60 and 70 per cent of the property’s value, is financed through a standard home loan with a participating lender.

The government's equity in the property remains in place until the buyer chooses to repay it voluntarily or until the property is sold. Buyers can buy back the government’s share over time, in increments of at least five per cent, depending on their financial situation.

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

<h2>How do you qualify for the&nbsp;Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

	<li>Be an Australian citizen at least 18 years of age.</li>
	<li>Be a first-home buyer who does not currently own property.</li>
	<li>Intend to live in the property as their primary residence.</li>

Increasing numbers of borrowers are feeling short-changed upon refinancing their mortgages as lenders ramp up their marketing campaigns.
Nearly half (47%) of borrowers who refinanced their mortgages earlier this year did not benefit from making the switch, according to research by the Mortgage Finance Association of Australia.
The industry body has highlighted the growing dissatisfaction in light of the ban on mortgage exit fees being subsequently lifted, which now makes it easier for borrowers to switch mortgage providers.
Even before the ban was lifted on July 1, borrowers have been bombarded with campaigns and special limited-time offers to switch their mortgages.
ANZ is offering incentives of up to $2,000 for borrowers who switch their home loans, and BankWest is waiving the application fee on all home loan applications.
NAB has been particurlarly aggressive in a long-running advertising and marketing campaign offering heavily discounted mortgages via its online brand UBank.
The MFAA findings come as commercial venture One Big Switch, backed by consumer group Choice, continues to attract more borrowers to its refinancing campaign with numbers substantially above 10,000, according to founder Lachlan Harris.
MFAA chief executive Phil Naylor says five years ago about 80% or 90% of borrowers surveyed claimed to be benefiting when they refinanced their loans.
“The number of people satisfied after refinancing has gradually declined over this time,” Naylor says.
“People are just making the decision and then finding out the change was not worth it.
“If you are receiving marketing material encouraging you to switch your loan, at the very least you should show it to a mortgage broker for a second opinion.”
The July mortgage index put out by mortgage broker AFG revealed that refinancing activity has increased from 36% to 39% over the first seven months of the year.
“The grass may not always be greener [when you refinance],” Naylor told Property Observer.
“With a ban on exit fees, the mortgage holder is seen as a potential switcher by the lenders. And that means borrowers are being swamped by extensive promotional advertising.”
He says many people might not know if they are switching to a better deal.
The MFAA says a borrower’s priority should be finding a more appropriate loan, not just a new loan.
Naylor says borrowers should seek credit advice from mortgage brokers before committing to refinancing.
“Simply refinancing doesn’t always achieve the desired goal,” he says.
“And switching for a better rate may not be as important as the terms of the loan. A mortgage is an important financial commitment which warrants a professional opinion.”
The government banned the charging of exit fees on new mortgages as of July 1, allowing mortgage holders to switch to a new loan without incurring early exit fees.

Borrowers switching mortgage providers, but not necessarily for the better

The outlook for the Australian dairy farm market could be improving, with some good news from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission giving farmers some leverage to bargain with processors for better prices for milk.
In its June report Herron Todd White reported that there had been little to no interest in dairy properties due in part to the fallout of the retailer price wars.
The ACCC has extended the exemption allowing dairy farmers to collectively bargain with processors for a further 10 years.
Australian Dairy Farmers Ltd was first granted authorisation by the ACCC in 2002.
Since that time dairy farmers have formed 18 collective bargaining groups.
These groups represent about 500 farming families.
"This is an important example of how the ACCC can assist small businesses, particularly those in the agricultural sector, to achieve better outcomes in their negotiations with processors," ACCC chairman Rod Sims says.
This is the second time the ACCC has undertaken a comprehensive review of the ADF arrangements.
It is clear from submissions received that collective bargaining by dairy farmers is both supported and well understood by the industry.
The ACCC considers collective bargaining by dairy farmers has the potential to deliver better access to information and resources as well as improved input into contract negotiations.
Collective bargaining can also reduce the transaction costs associated with negotiating supply arrangements for both dairy farmers and processors.
The ACCC may authorise collective bargaining arrangements when it is satisfied that the public benefit from the conduct outweighs any public detriment.
Authorisation provides immunity from court action for conduct that might otherwise raise concerns under the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

Outlook for dairy properties could improve with collective bargaining advantage

In the last financial year the group opened four new offices.
Its office network performances included McGrath Wollongong, which sold $77 million from 141 sales, compared with $21 million in financial year 2010.
McGrath Castle Hill sold $155.6 million from 169 sales, compared with $96 million in 2010. McGrath Sylvania sold $97 million from 105 sales, compared with $69 million in 2010. McGrath Hunters Hill sold $361 million from 285 sales, compared with $287 million in 2010. McGrath Parramatta sold $112 million from 192 sales, compared with $92 million in 2010. McGrath Cronulla sold $197 million from 241 sales, compared with $171 million in 2010. McGrath Inner West sold $589.5 million from 573 sales, compared with $568.5 million in 2010.

Upmarket Sydney estate agency joins McGrath

As we look to what's ahead for 2012, Property Observer is republishing some of our most noteworthy stories of 2011.
 
It just squeezed onto Your Investment Property’s Top 100 survey at number 100, but the small coastal Northern NSW town of Ballina offers rental yields on a par with and in some cases better than those in the large capital cities, proving the suburb has more to offer than just a giant prawn.
Ballina is 600 kilometres north of Sydney, 80 kilometres from the Queensland border and just 30 kilometres from Byron Bay.
Houses in Ballina cost under $420,000 and units are priced around the $330,000 mark, according to RP Data.
While not inexpensive, they are well below median capital city house and unit prices ($487,000 and $420,000 respectively) and substantially more affordable than Byron Bay, where the median house stands at $737,000 and $545,000 for units.
While capital growth has been about 7% over the past three years, it has accelerated over the last year, and is expected to pick up further with a wave of baby boomers expected to relocate to coastal towns over the next few years. 
According to SQM research, vacancy rates in Ballina are currently at 2.1%, and should tighten further as the population increases. 
SQM Research predicts population growth of 2% annually for the next few years, which will push up demand for housing. 
McGrath Estate Agents have recorded increased sales activity on the Northern Rivers and Tweed Coast, where Ballina is. 
In the January – June 2011 period, the two-year-old McGrath Ballina/Byron Bay offie clocked 64 sales, compared with 49 sales for the corresponding period in 2010, an increase of 41%. 
McGrath chief executive John McGrath says this activity is encouraging for regional markets and maintains there are “exceptional buying opportunities in many key lifestyle markets that were hit hard by the GFC”. 
David Mills, principal of McGrath Ballina/Byron Bay and McGrath Tweed Heads, says more than half the buyers were from out of the area with the bulk of enquiries coming via the internet or from McGrath’s in-house magazine. 
“Freestanding houses in the $450,000 to $700,000 price range are most popular. Water and beachfronts are down approximately 15% to 20% to their pre-GFC values, providing good buying opportunities, while buyer activity is on the rise,” Mills says. 
Besides the obvious coastal attractions, Ballina was rated highly by property analysts due to its good transport connections by road, rail and air. The town is serviced by the nearby Ballina-Byron Gateway, which carries commercial flights to Melbourne and Sydney, making it particular attractive to sea changers. 
Amenities include a hospital, several schools, several supermarkets and independent grocery stores. 
As an established holiday destination, Ballina offers a wide range of leisure activities including kayaking, fishing and golf, as well as numerous restaurants and cafes.
 Barb Joblin from Ray White Ballina is selling a two-bedroom house on River Street near the harbour for $189,000 squarely targeted at the baby boomer retirees who enjoy “fishing and living on the waters’ edge”.
At the more expensive end of town Graeme Hellyar, also from Ray White Ballina, is selling a four-bedroom duplex on Dolphin Drive on the Ballina Quays with an asking price $489,000.
Investors considering purchasing in Ballina are warned that the area does suffer from coastal erosion, so while a beachfront property may seem desirable, a better investment might be properties a street or two back from the coast.</body></html>

Lachlan Harris has hit back at critics of his One Big Switch mortgage discount campaign, telling them to “watch this space”. 
The One Big Switch campaign, which was launched on July 31 and is backed by consumer group Choice, has attracted in excess of 10,000 subscribers, 10 times the initial target of 1,000. 
Harris, a former Rudd government advisor, told Property Observer numbers are rising rapidly but would not comment on exact figures. 
“Some people will always feel uncomfortable when you try and introduce change,” he says. 
Critics of the scheme include Herald Sun columnist Scott Pape (the Barefoot Investor), who in his latest blog claimed the idea that you can “‘group buy’ a home loan for thousands of people is ridiculous”. 
“Anyone who has applied for a mortgage knows the bank determines your rate by taking into account your personal income, equity and credit history,” Pape says. 
Most of Pape’s criticism was directed at consumer group Choice, which Pape says has “sold its soul” by getting involved in a venture “which share in the kickbacks that the banks will pay them for each punter they put through”. 
Similar concerns about Choice involvement have been expressed by the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia. 
While supportive of the scheme and Choice backing it, MFAA chief executive Phil Naylor questioned Choice’s commercial involvement in an industry in which it has previously performed impartial advocacy.
Choice will earn a referral fee from each One Big Switch subscriber who takes up a lender offer. However, the consumer watchdog claims the money will be used to recover the costs of running the campaign.
Earlier the ABA issued a press release calling the scheme a “gimmick” and claimed bank customers would be better off talking directly with their bank if they’re not satisfied with their current mortgage. 
Harris says the more borrowers who sign up the better the deal they will be offered. 
Lenders of all sizes will be able to compete for mortgage business from those who have signed up but borrowers will be under no obligation to take up the offer. 
Harris says discussions with lenders are ongoing but will not say how many have expressed interest in getting involved.

As the One Big Switch campaign passes 10,000 subscribers, new Mortgage Choice research reveals the popularity of ongoing discount home loans jumped 6% in July.
Ongoing discount home loans – where the interest rate is discounted over the entire loan term usually in return for an annual fee – reached an unprecedented 38.6% of approvals in July, with the number of these loans rising in all states.
Mortgage Choice spokeswoman Kristy Sheppard says ongoing discount mortgages could rise to 50% of all loan approvals over the coming months.
“With the cash rate on hold for the longest period since November 2006 to August 2007, this month we may see a reduction in fixed rate appetite and continued growing hunger for ongoing discount rate home loans,” she says.
Sheppard says the popularity of ongoing discount home loans is unsurprising given the array of deals on the table as lenders vie for greater market share.
“Upcoming borrowers will be adding up the value they place on guaranteed steady minimum repayments against the chance of a longer stretch of steady interest rates.”
The One Big Switch campaign, a commercial venture launched by former Rudd advisor Lachlan Harris and consumer group Choice, allows those who sign up to be approached by a panel of lenders offering them the opportunity to switch to a cheaper mortgage.
The growing attractiveness of ongoing discount rate mortgages comes as banks cop a spray from comparison website Mozo for treating small businesses such as estate agents as second-class citizens when it comes to providing them with banking products.
Mozo research reveals an average 0.56% difference between the best interest rates on offer to personal savings account customers and business savings account customers.
All of the big four banks (Westpac, NAB, Commenwealth and ANZ) and a handful of others impose tiered rates on business savers where balances under a certain level earn no interest at all.
Nearly half of the banks surveyed, including NAB, Westpac, St George, BankWest and Citibank, offer bonus interest rates to personal customers but not to business customers. Standard rates are also often lower for business customers.
Despite expectation of a fixed rate demand starting to trend down, during July demand for fixed rate products continued to rise, accounting for 13.3% of all mortgages approved by Mortgage Choice.
The appeal of fixed-rate loans diverged more widely across the country than in previous months.
Fixed-rate approvals increased in NSW and Queensland but fell in South Australia, Western Australian and Victoria.
The popularity of ongoing discount home loans continued to rise in July, increasing by more than 6% to an unprecedented 38.6%, with approvals rising in all states.
Demand for line of credit home loans, often more popular with investors, fell slightly to 4.7% of approvals and below the 12 month average
Introductory rate or honeymoon loans fell 1.6% to 3.3%.

The RBA decision to leave rates on hold at 4.75% in August was welcomed by many in the industry.
"The RBA has accurately assessed the Australian economy, including the property market, and left rates on hold,” says Real Estate Institute of Australia acting president Pamela Bennett.
CBA chief economist Michael Blythe says attention will now turn to the quarterly Statement on Monetary Policy, due on Friday, August 5.
“This statement will allow policy makers to flesh out the thinking behind the August decision and will also provide updated forecasts for growth and inflation,” he says.

Discounted luxury in Newstead

Australians who own homes near the ski slopes in Niseko, Japan will open them up to survivors of the March tsunami over the summer months.
The resort town will welcome about 450 residents from Fukushima as part of a relief program that offers disaster victims temporary accommodation in one of the village’s many holiday condominiums.
Participants will stay in 63 properties – ranging from backpacker to luxury accommodation – for periods of a few days to up to a few months.
They will pay only a minimum fee for running costs, courtesy of the property owners, made up of a large contingent of Australian investors, who discovered the ski village in the mid-1990s.
The “Niseko Tsunami Relief,” program was initiated by members of the local and international property owner community in Niseko and is being organized jointly with the Hokkaido Voluntary Evacuation Support Network.
According to Bill Aslanidis, operations manager at LJ Hooker Japan, overseas owners visit Niseko regularly and have a keen interest in the area and Japan, and wanted to help with relief efforts in a direct way.
Niseko holiday companies will provide the necessary management services for free.
Primary beneficiaries of the program will be mothers with young children seeking an escape from the ongoing radiation crisis in Fukushima, and a safe, clean environment in which to spend the summer holidays.
Municipal government offices, local businesses and many local volunteers will also play a role.
Local businesses and members of the community have also joined forces to offer the participants area orientation, as well as a range of outdoor activities such as rafting, hiking and sports, discounts at restaurants and shops, and various events.
The program runs until the end of August.
