Saxon Street by Milieu puts Brunswick’s daily essentials within walking distance

So much of what makes a neighbourhood easy to live in comes down to small, everyday trips: the morning coffee, the midweek grocery run, the walk to the train. Around Saxon Street by Milieu in Brunswick, all of those trips can be made on foot.
Brunswick was the most enquired-on suburb across Apartments.com.au over the last financial year. Within it, the development’s address at 31 Saxon Street, on the corner of Dawson Street, carries a Walk Score of 98 out of 100.
The weekly shop is covered by Woolworths or Aldi, both only a three-minute walk, while Barkly Square is a mere eight-minute walk.
Coffee is closer still with Home Economics is right next door. Sydney Road is a short walk away. Its stretch of cafés, restaurants, bars and bakeries is among the most well-regarded in the inner north.
Getting into the city is just as straightforward. Brunswick Station on the Upfield line is about 470 metres from the development and runs directly to Flinders Street, while the Route 19 tram travels along Sydney Road into the CBD. The rail corridor itself is changing, with the Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project removing eight level crossings along the Upfield line between Parkville and Brunswick.
Staying active doesn’t take much planning either. Brunswick Baths, directly beside the site, has indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna and a gym, which puts a daily swim or workout practically on the doorstep. A short stroll out and you are in the 39-hectare Princes Park offers sports grounds and running and walking tracks.
That car-light way of living carries through to the building. Saxon Street by Milieu includes 95 bicycle spaces, and its parking does without car stackers or a car lift.
Upstairs, the interiors by DesignOffice, Milieu’s eighth collaboration with the practice, are built around flexible floorplans that adapt to relaxing, entertaining or working from home. A landscaped communal rooftop adds seating and barbecue facilities.
Saxon Street by Milieu is Milieu’s fifth project in Brunswick, from a portfolio of 25 completed developments. It is under construction by Manresa, with two and three-bedroom apartments now selling from $915,000 and residents expected to move in from mid-2027.
When they do, the car may well spend most of the week in the basement.
