Keith Wilton had spent years living in a house in East Maitland before deciding it was time for a change. Apartment living had always been on his radar, but he was selective about what he wanted.

For Aimee and Lyle Goodman, the journey started almost by chance.

"We were aware GWH was planning a development," Aimee says. "We made one phone call and things moved pretty quickly after that."

"We actually catch up more as a family now," Aimee says.

According to the awards submission, the interiors were designed from the inside out, prioritising how homes would function over decades of daily use through generous proportions, practical storage, durable natural materials and flexible layouts.

The specification includes natural stone throughout, upgraded acoustic glazing, V-ZUG appliances and fully enclosed storage rooms, alongside an amenity offering focused on wellness, entertainment and everyday convenience.&nbsp;

The apartment price gap drawing Sydney buyers west

A luxury beachfront apartment at Rainbow Bay has more than doubled in value since it sold off the plan six years ago, setting a new local apartment record in the process.

The three-bedroom apartment in the Flow development on Petrie Street, the first of four new projects locally by Paul Gedoun's S&amp;S Projects, has sold for $7.4 million, after originally selling for $3.27 million when the project launched in 2020.

The seventh-floor apartment, comprising 187 sqm of internal living space and a 54 sqm balcony overlooking Froggies Beach and Snapper Rocks, was purchased by a local family.

The transaction was negotiated by Pezet Matheson director Kerry Pezet and equates to more than $30,000 per sqm.

Pezet said the sale reflected the limited opportunities to buy into the boutique beachfront development.

"The sale highlights the rarity of opportunities within the boutique beachfront development, where residences seldom become available," Pezet said.

"Flow is one of the Gold Coast's most tightly held buildings. Buyers from our database move quickly when residences become available, and achieving an off-market sale at $7.4 million demonstrates the depth of demand for property of this calibre."

In the wake of the coronavirus outbreak and the associated shutdown of economic activity, sentiment towards residential property and all sectors of commercial property declined sharply, according to the ANZ.
In their June Quarter ANZ property council survey in answer to new questions, specially set for this survey, they found that expectations of a negative impact from the coronavirus were broadly based and similar across the states. Nationwide, virtually all respondents expect to be negatively impacted by the pandemic, with all states recording similar responses.
10% of businesses report that the impact is already so serious it is affecting their viability. A large majority of firms reported that the virus was already impacting current construction schedules. Firms expect the impact of the virus to be largest on the tourism sector. 
In the residential sector, price expectations have turned around sharply and a net 36% of respondents now expect house prices to decline over the next year.
Employment in the sector is also expected to decline, but the outlook for construction activity is more balanced. The outlook for the residential sector is negative across all states and territories. 
In commercial property, across all sectors and states sentiment declined sharply. Confidence in the tourism and retail sectors was the weakest, but sentiment also declined sharply in the office and industrial sectors.
ANZ Senior Economist Felicity Emmett said, "after recovering through much of 2019, property sentiment has taken a hit from the coronavirus and the shutdown measures put in place by the federal and state governments to contain it."
"Just as the lockdown measures have been broadly-based, the deterioration in sentiment has been equally widespread. Sentiment across the residential, office, industrial, retail and tourism sectors have all been sharply impacted."
"Not surprisingly, the tourism sector has been the hardest hit."
"Across all sectors, price expectations have turned around sharply, employment prospects have deteriorated and the construction outlook has turned down."

Coronavirus infecting property sentiment: ANZ

The impact on the business sector of Coronavirus containment measures has been immediately obvious, reports the NAB Monthly Business Survey. 
Business confidence saw its largest decline on record and is now at its weakest level in the history of the NAB business survey (including the quarterly).
Alan Oster, NAB Group chief economist said "worryingly but not surprisingly, business’s outlook is the weakest ever. Business confidence has fallen to its lowest ever level – and in a single month. Business has essentially told us that trading conditions, profitability and employment all went backwards in a big way in the month”.
“The decline in confidence was wide-spread across industries with most industries recording falls largerthan 60 points. The decline in conditions was also sharp, and there may be more to come” said Mr Oster.
“Forward orders and capacity utilisation also declined sharply. The decline in forward orders suggests that activity will weaken further in coming months. Capacity utilisation is at its lowest level ever, but could also decline further as containment measures remain in place” said Mr Oster.
This is somewhat unsurprising given the recent escalation of widespread containment measures, which are unlikely to be lifted in the near-term and the risk of further escalation. Business conditions also declined sharply in aggregate and across the bulk of industries.
Recreation &amp; personal services saw the largest hit, unsurprising given the effective shut down of these sectors. Forward orders collapsed to their lowest level on record, while capacity utilisation also saw a sharp decline. Overall, the decline in forward orders and business conditions imply a large fall in GDP in the next six months.
While it is unlikely that the unprecedented policy support targeted at the business sector will be unable to offset the near-term pain, it will be very important in supporting activity in the recovery phase.

The timing of a recovery is extremely uncertain at this point, but supporting business sector cashflow and the ability to hold onto employees will need to remain a focus.
There is significant risk that a blow to confidence of this magnitude for an extended period could lead to ongoing fallout in terms of employment growth and capital expenditure by business. This has been reflected in the response of policy makers to date.
Both business confidence and conditions recorded their largest monthly falls on record in March. Business confidence fell to -66 index points – its lowest level on record. Business conditions fell to -21 index points, slightly weaker than the GFC but well above the trough seen in the 1990s recession. The decline in conditions was driven by a fall in all three components, with profitability weakest at -27 index points.
Business cashflow also deteriorated in the month reflecting the issue faced by the business sector of slowing sales or forced closures while fixed costs continue.
“While almost everyone expects a fairly rapid bound back in activity once the spread of the coronavirus is contained and social distancing rules are relaxed, the immediate worry for the business sector is the impact on cashflows. Without cashflow support, it is likely many businesses will be severely impacted and unable to return to operations once the economy begins to recover. This has been an important focus of policy makers.” Mr Oster said.
“We expect a recession of unprecedented speed and magnitude for the Australian economy over the next three quarters. This will see a sharp increase in unemployment. Policy makers have made a huge response that we think will be unable to offset the negative prints we will see in economic data in the near term but we are optimistic these actions will support a solid recovery once the virus is contained” said Mr Oster.
“For now more businesses expect it to get worse before it gets better. It could well be that conditions fall to the lowest level since the 1990s recession in coming months – but we will be closely watching the survey for a turn in business confidence which may take some time to recover following an economic shock of this magnitude” said Mr Oster.

A huge hit to the business sector from coronavirus, NAB anticipates

Residential tenants and landlords facing financial hardship due to COVID-19 will receive limited support from the NSW Government’s new temporary rental support measures announced on Easter Monday.
The six-month support package includes a moratorium on applications for forced evictions due to rental arrears for those financially disadvantaged by COVID-19.
There are new requirements for landlords and tenants to enter into negotiations over rental payments in good faith.
The six-month support package will include an interim 60-day moratorium on evictions when landlords will have to negotiate with households prior to seeking a forced end to a tenancy.
Where a household has suffered a loss of income equal to or greater than 25 per cent due to COVID-19, there is a new obligation to enter into negotiations with their landlord or managing agent, prior to seeking a forced end to the tenancy.
The Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation Kevin Anderson suggested an interim 60-day moratorium on finalising existing matters, or making new applications to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) for forced evictions over rent arrears related to COVID-19, sends a clear message that the process is not optional. 
“We know many people are worried about meeting their financial commitments at the moment. That is why we need more stability for tenants and landlords while the new Commonwealth income support payments are rolled-out, and landlords talk to their bank about mortgage relief,” Mr Anderson said.
Tenants will be protected from eviction until NCAT is satisfied that negotiations have concluded. Any unpaid rent will accrue as arrears during this period. 
Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the Government was allocating around $440 million towards rent relief in the form of land tax waivers or rebates – with the expectation that this would be split approximately evenly between business and residential landlords.
Mr Perrottet said residential landlords would be eligible for a land tax waiver or rebate of up to 25 per cent if they passed the saving on to tenants in financial distress.
“This is effectively a $220 million commitment in the residential sector from the NSW Government to help encourage both landlords and tenants to reach agreement on rent reductions during this difficult time,” Mr Perrottet said. 
Mr Anderson said it was important that both landlords and tenants continued to honour existing agreements to the extent possible. 
“No reasonable person wants to end a tenancy right now, which is why we are supporting renters and landlords to negotiate new temporary terms, so tenants keep a roof over their head, and landlords aren’t left without rental income for the next six-months.
“For some people this may be a daunting experience, so to boost available support we’ve announced a one-off $2.5 million boost to tenancy advocacy and advice services across the state.” 
Tenants and landlords will also have access to assistance from Fair Trading and access to the NCAT to resolve matters after the end of the 60-day period: 
<ul>
<li>       NSW Fair Trading’s dispute resolution service will be available to assist if the parties are unable to re-negotiate and agree on new rental arrangements, backed by Fair Trading’s existing legal powers; </li>
<li>       NCAT will be available to make appropriate orders in light of the current circumstances where the parties are unwilling or unable to reach an agreement and action is taken to seek an eviction; </li>
<li>       Action is also being taken to ensure that evictions for reasons not related to rent arrears are also stayed to minimise avoidable housing disruption and movement. The usual periods of required notice under the Residential Tenancies Act will be increased from the minimum of 30 days up to 90 days for terminations due to fixed or periodic leases ending, or other agreement breaches.</li>
<li>       Landlords will however continue to be able to seek to recover premises due to their own genuine hardship. Tenants will also continue to be able to apply to the Tribunal to terminate a fixed-term tenancy on the basis of hardship.</li>
<li>       Tenants will be protected from being added to tenancy databases (or ‘blacklists’) for breaches of agreements resulting from COVID-19 impacts.</li>
</ul>
“I encourage landlords and tenants to approach this new process with an open mind and an empathetic ear. It is important to learn about each other’s current position in order to better support each other during these extraordinary times,” Mr Anderson said.
Around 20 percent of NSW landlords currency pay land tax given <a href="https://www.revenue.nsw.gov.au/taxes-duties-levies-royalties/land-tax" target="_blank">the $734,000 threshold.</a>
NSW Parliament will be recalled to pass the measures, which include upcoming land tax payments being deferred for three months.
NSW Labor welcomed the moratorium on evictions, but expressed concern about unpaid rent accruing and leaving a tenant who lost their job with a rent bill.

NSW land tax paying landlords can get relief if cash-trapped tenants get rental discount

The ban by the Victorian chief health officer on holding private inspections of occupied homes listed for sale or rent was set to be scrapped, the REIV announced today.
The ban reduced the capacity of Victorian estate agents to conduct by appointment open houses.
The new ban was issued late on Thursday, but was set to be abolished Easter Monday, the REIV president Leah Calnan said.

Occupied properties meant all properties where someone was currently living, the Consumer Affairs department website had advised.
“We’re dumbfounded by the move,” Ms Leah Calnan, the REIV president said on Thursday. 
“Victoria has been very heavy handed about this when other states still allow these inspections to go ahead."
The government made its in initial policy when reaffirming its message that people should stay home.
“There are only four reasons to leave your home: food and supplies, medical care or caregiving, exercise and work or education,” a government spokesperson said last week.
It advised there would be "no exemption for tenants or occupants to temporarily vacate their place of residence to facilitate inspections.
During the Stage 3 restrictions, vendors or landlords wanting to conduct inspections of tenanted properties can do so via virtual inspections, or wait until the property is fully vacated and disinfected."

Victorian agents are likely to return to previous practice when allowed to take buyers or renters through as long as social distancing guidelines were met.
Since the ban on public auctions and open homes from March 25, SOME 75 per cent of scheduled auctions were switched in Victoria to private sales.
Domain figures also show the number of property listings sat eight per cent lower compared to the same time last year.
Domain’s senior research analyst Nicola Powell had forecast any implementation of the updated pre-Easter ban would cripple the Victorian property market.
“Allowing private inspections gave the real estate market a lifeline. They’ve cut that lifeline. They’ve cut the blood supply to the real estate market."
The Consumer Affairs Victoria’s <a href="https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/resources-and-tools/advice-in-a-disaster/coronavirus-covid19-and-your-rights" target="_blank">website </a>had changed by 11am on Easter Monday stating “private inspections of an occupied/tenanted residential property are permitted” when just the real estate agent and the person inspecting the property were present.

<li>to maintain the required level of social distancing</li>
<li>to ensure homes are cleaned and disinfected before and after each inspection, and</li>
<li>for all Victorians to stay at home except in the four, limited circumstances (to buy needed supplies, for medical or caring reasons, for work or study, or for exercise).</li>

There is no exemption for tenants or occupants to temporarily vacate their place of residence to facilitate inspections.

Reduced capacity of Victorian estate agents to conduct by appointment open houses

On Tuesday, the Federal Government announced a finalised mandatory <a href="https://www.pm.gov.au/sites/default/files/files/national-cabinet-mandatory-code-ofconduct-sme-commercial-leasing-principles.pdf">Code of Conduct</a> (“the Code”) to aid commercial tenancies, including retail, office and industrial tenants and landlords. Here are some summarised key points of the Code to be aware of.

<h2>This Code applies to:</h2>

<ul>
<li>Small and medium-sized businesses, with an annual turnover of less than AUD 50 million, and under significant financial distress as per the government’s <a href="https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/jobkeeper">JobKeeper</a> programme.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Principles under this Code are as follows:</h2>

<ul>
<li>Landlords must not terminate a lease due to non-payment of rent</li>
	<li>Landlords should, instead, offer proportionate reductions in rent in the form of waivers or deferrals</li>
	<li>Landlords’ reductions must be at least 50%, however, tenants can do away with this requirement by agreement with the landlord</li>
	<li>No rent increases should be made</li>
	<li>No interest or other forms of extra charges should be imposed with respect to the rent reductions</li>
	<li>No penalties should be imposed on tenants who reduce opening hours or tenants who cease trading</li>
</ul>
The Code is enforced under the respective state and/or territory governments. In the event of a dispute between landlords and tenants, parties should seek for a dispute resolution process from <a href="https://www.vsbc.vic.gov.au/dispute-resolution/">Small Business Commissions</a> or the <a href="https://www.asbfeo.gov.au/">Ombudsman</a>. Unfortunately, for the time being, the government has yet to announce a similar Code for residential tenancies. However, there are still measures that tenants can take to protect themselves from being vulnerable in a time of crisis like this.

The Federal Government's rent relief policy for commercial tenancies, summarised

At this point, it means that dog owners will still be able to walk and exercise their pets on a daily basis. 

Physical activity is important for both humans and animals, with most dogs requiring at least 2 hours of exercise each day to stay fit and healthy. 

There is currently no evidence that suggests that humans can contract the COVID-19 virus from dogs; however, studies have shown animal fur can carry the virus.

To assist you in caring for your pet during COVID-19, here's a guide to help you walk your dog in a safe and responsible manner. 

<h2>MAINTAINING GOOD HYGIENE</h2>

One essential health and safety precaution during the current pandemic is to wash your hands. Owners and dog walkers should be washing their hands for 20-30 seconds before and after each walk. 

Some health experts have also recommended people tie their hair up before going out and washing their face and hair upon returning. It is also recommended that you wipe down your dog's paws and fur before entering the home in case they have picked up germs from public surfaces.  

Surfaces such as park benches, tables, taps, bins, fences and gates should also be avoided. If you need to touch a surface, ensure that you are wearing disposable gloves or carrying hand sanitizer to disinfect the surface and your hands.

New Zealand has also reported an <a href="https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/120782435/coronavirus-dog-attacks-spike-during-lockdown-councils-say">increase in dog attacks</a> since the COVID19 lockdown.

*People with pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and respiratory illnesses like asthma or a history of pneumonia are also more susceptible to contracting the virus and should consider self-isolating at home. 

<h2>WALKING SOMEONE ELSE’S DOG </h2>

How to walk your dog during the COVID-19 pandemic

Local governments are <a href="https://treasury.gov.au/sites/default/files/2020-04/Fact_sheet_supporting_businesses_0.pdf">not eligible for the JobKeeper Payment</a>, while major industries like construction are. Although the JobKeeper scheme has been <a href="https://theconversation.com/australias-130-billion-jobkeeper-payment-what-the-experts-think-135043">broadly welcomed</a>, it is a mystery to business why Australia’s <a href="https://alga.asn.au/about-alga/">537 local councils</a>, which provide vital support for industries like construction, are not eligible. The failure to include local councils (and their wholly owned corporations) will undermine the economic and social impact these policies are meant to have.
This just doesn’t make sense to business or local government. Business and industry are depending on their partnerships with local government to get through the coronavirus crisis. But local councils, which <a href="https://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/mf/6248.0.55.002">employ almost 200,000 people</a>, are already <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-07/local-gov-struggle-to-keep-staff-coronavirus-jobkeeper-payments/12125312">laying off thousands</a>.
Since construction directly <a href="http://lmip.gov.au/default.aspx?LMIP/GainInsights/IndustryInformation/Construction">employs about 1.2 million people</a> (9.2% of the workforce) and indirectly many more, construction sites remain “exempt” as the government closes down all non-essential businesses to combat coronavirus. As Urban Taskforce chief executive Tom Forrest <a href="https://www.urbantaskforce.com.au/clear-messages-from-government-construction-work-is-exempt-from-the-close-down-and-will-continue/">said</a>:
The building and construction industry will be a critical player in driving the economy through this crisis.
The federal government’s A$130 billion wage subsidy will cover businesses paying their employees A$1,500 a fortnight each for up to six months. Private businesses (including not-for-profits) will be <a href="https://www.business.gov.au/risk-management/emergency-management/coronavirus-information-and-support-for-business/jobkeeper-payment">eligible for the subsidy</a> if they meet the criteria.

Self-employed individuals will similarly be eligible to receive the <a href="https://www.business.gov.au/risk-management/emergency-management/coronavirus-information-and-support-for-business/jobkeeper-payment">JobKeeper Payment</a>.
Registered charities will be eligible if their turnover has fallen or will likely fall by 15% or more relative to a comparable period.
Non-government schools and private vocational education providers are also eligible.
What is happening to local government?
Local government misses out. Yet revenues have been hit extremely hard since local government raises only <a href="https://alga.asn.au/policy-centre/financial-sustainability/">3.6% of its income from taxation and 90% from its own sources</a>. These include rates and fees for services – many of which have had to close.
As a result, <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/councils-bleed-revenue-as-costs-from-coronavirus-surge-20200401-p54g58">city council revenues have plummeted</a>. For example, Blacktown City Council in Sydney estimates its monthly revenue has fallen by about A$1.7 million. The council employs around 2,300 people who serve a population of 400,000 people.
Like all local governments, it is responsible for a wide range of critical local services that support industries like construction that are exempt from current shutdowns. Councils provide planning and development approvals, childcare centres (26 in Blacktown’s case), waste management, infrastructure (such as roads and footpaths, parks, sporting grounds and swimming pools), housing, community amenities, transport and communications, recreation and culture and general public services.
The majority of freight tasks, which are central to keeping the economy going, start and finish on local government-controlled roads. These roads add up to about <a href="https://cdn.alga.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/ALGA-2019-Local-Government-Roads-and-Transport-Agenda.pdf">662,000km in length</a> – about 75% of the total national road length. Of 251.2 billion kilometres travelled in 2016, <a href="https://cdn.alga.asn.au/wp-content/uploads/ALGA-2019-Local-Government-Roads-and-Transport-Agenda.pdf">142.1 billion occurred in capital cities</a>.
Local councils also fund and support major construction projects. To return to the example of Blacktown, the A$76.5 million <a href="https://www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/About-Council/What-we-do/Transformational-Projects/Warrick-Lane-redevelopment">Warrick Lane development</a> is part of the city centre transformation, which will provide major economic and social benefits for the people of Blacktown.

The Warrick Lane redevelopment is a major construction project that wouldn’t be happening if not for the city council.
Another Blacktown City project is the <a href="https://www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/About-Council/What-we-do/Transformational-Projects/International-Centre-of-Training-Excellence">International Centre of Training Excellence</a>, a multisport high-performance education, sports medicine and accelerated recovery facility. It’s due to open in 2022.
Nationwide, local government owns and manages non-financial assets with an <a href="https://alga.asn.au/policy-centre/financial-sustainability/">estimated written-down value of A$408 billion</a> in 2015-16. Operational spending by councils totalled about A$35 billion in that year.
A partner of industry and business
Local government spending goes into providing industry support and services across the nation. If you take these services and supports away you undermine government efforts to stimulate industries like construction to get us through this crisis and recover from it.
You also introduce the risk that development approvals are granted without thorough assessments. That’s likely to lead to new problems down the line.
As the federal government says, keeping people in work and businesses open will lay the foundations for a stronger economic recovery once the coronavirus crisis passes. But local government support is key to this strategy. Most people would be concerned to know their local councils are not being supported in the same way as private businesses – some of which have accumulated millions in profits and are incorporated overseas.
The federal government rightly talks about partnership, collaboration and collective responsibility to get through this crisis. Local council activities are critical to the productivity, well-being and liveability of local communities and cumulatively to the nation at this time.
Disaster management experience and <a href="https://www.disaster.qld.gov.au/dmg/Pages/DM-Guideline.aspx">guidelines</a> tell us the response to any crisis must be bottom-up as well as top-down. This means local government’s role is crucial. How can this be achieved without a functioning local government supporting industry and communities to get through this pandemic?

As the coronavirus pandemic spreads around the world, it’s a good time to understand how cleaning can help prevent the spread of disease and what you can do to cut the risk of infection in your home.
Coronavirus is mainly transmitted from person to person via <a href="https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert/what-you-need-to-know-about-coronavirus-covid-19">tiny droplets</a> of saliva or other bodily fluids that float in the air after a cough or sneeze.
Contaminated objects and surfaces can also be important in the transmission of disease. It’s not entirely clear what role they play in transmitting the new coronavirus, but they play an important one for <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0195670120300463">related viruses</a> such as SARS and MERS.
However, it makes sense that something contaminated with the virus could pass it on, for example if a person touches it and then touches their nose, mouth or face.
So, if someone at risk of having the virus has been in your home, cleaning to reduce the amount of contamination on surfaces may help cut down your risk of further transmission of coronavirus. (It will also cut the risk of transmitting other pathogens.)
What’s the difference between cleaning and disinfection?
There’s a useful to distinction to make between <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/cleaning-disinfection?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcommunity%2Fhome%2Fcleaning-disinfection.html">cleaning</a> and <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/cleaning-disinfection?CDC_AA_refVal=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdc.gov%2Fcoronavirus%2F2019-ncov%2Fcommunity%2Fhome%2Fcleaning-disinfection.html">disinfection</a>.
Cleaning means physically removing organic matter such as germs and dirt from surfaces. Disinfection means using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces.
Cleaning is very important, because organic matter may inhibit or reduce the disinfectant’s ability to kill germs.
How long will coronavirus survive in my house?
We are not exactly sure how long this coronavirus will survive on surfaces. If it is similar to other coronaviruses, it could survive a few hours – potentially <a href="https://www.journalofhospitalinfection.com/article/S0195-6701(20)30046-3/fulltext">up to several days</a>. How long it survives could depend on temperature, humidity and what the surface is made of.
What could be contaminated in my house?
It’s hard to say exactly. When someone coughs or sneezes, especially if they don’t cover their mouth, it is likely surfaces close to them will be contaminated.
Hands are often responsible for transferring pathogens from one place to another, so items that people often touch are at greatest risk of being contaminated.
Frequently touched items may include TV remotes, fridge doors, kitchen cupboards, kitchen surfaces, taps and door handles. And of course, there are devices such as phones and iPads – but these may not be shared or touched by others frequently.
What should I use to clean and how?
The coronavirus is a delicate structure and it is vulnerable in the environment. Both heat and detergents, including soap, can stop it functioning.
Contaminated surfaces
If a surface becomes contaminated or you think it could be, cleaning it with a common household disinfectant will kill the virus. Remember to wash your hands after cleaning (or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser) and avoid touching your eyes, mouth or nose.
There are many options for what to use to clean, including paper towels, cloths or disposable wipes.

How you clean is important. You don’t want to “recontaminate” surfaces while cleaning. Working from one side of a surface to the other helps with this, using an <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0195670118307205">“S” shape to clean</a>.
If you are reusing a cloth, remember to wash it afterwards and let it dry. Laundering cloths in the washing machine with normal washing liquid is also likely to kill the virus, particularly on a hot wash.
Dishes and cutlery
Washing with hot water and detergent is fine for dishes and cutlery. A dishwasher is even better, because it can use hotter water than your hands will tolerate.
Clothing and linen
Use the warmest setting possible to wash contaminated laundry and make sure you allow it to dry completely. You may not want to ruin clothing or other materials, so always look at the manufacturer’s instructions.
Laundry from someone who is sick can be washed with other people’s items. If you are handling contaminated items such as towel or sheets, avoid shaking them before washing, to reduce the risk of contaminating other surfaces.
And remember to wash your hands immediately after touching any contaminated laundry.
Prevention is best
Remember that surfaces play a role in transmitting pathogens, so preventing them from becoming contaminated in the first place is as important as cleaning. There are some things you can do to reduce the amount of contamination of surfaces in your house:
– cover your cough and sneezes, ideally with a tissue but otherwise into your elbow, and wash your hands immediately
– wash your hands often, especially after going to the bathroom and before eating.
What do I do if someone in my home is sick?
It may be wise to think about which room in your home could be used to care for a sick member of your family. If possible, the ideal room is one that that is separate from other parts of your home and has a separate bathroom.
Cleaning this room when someone is sick also requires some thought. How to clean your house to prevent the spread of coronavirus and other infections

Soul of Gerringong has been listed by the Sydney-based builder and interior design team, Ben and Simone Mathews.
It opened its doors three years ago with farmhouse, pool-side cabana, studio barn and the stand alone cottage.
Ray White Gerringong agent Neil Campbell and Ray White Double Bay agent Craig Pontey have the listing of the bespoke holiday property at 143 Belinda Street.
“Ben and Simone  have created a beautiful sought-after haven which is booked out months in advance for holiday stays and corporate retreats” Campbell said before the coronavirus shutdown. 
The property is being sold with the ‘Soul of Gerringong’ business included in the offering.

Simone Mathews said she and her husband Ben, owner of BAM Construction, created what was a "blurring of the line between a holiday house and a boutique hotel.”
The Cronulla-based husband and wife team bought the property in October 2015 as an original coastal farmhouse on 1525 sqm of land. 
 The property sleeps up to 22 persons.
“After we were featured in Qantas Magazine we had people contacting us straight from their flight to book in,” Ms Mathews said. 
The property was set for public auction on site on April 7, 2020 with a buyer’s price guide of $4 million, but withdrawn so remains for sale via private treaty.
