A long-stalled Campbelltown development site is back in play, with new plans for 139 apartments set to supersede a mixed-use scheme approved almost a decade ago but never built.

The new proposal for 28 Cordeaux Street would deliver 116 market and 23 affordable apartments in a part 14-storey building, bringing a substantial new project into a Campbelltown market where new apartment supply remains limited.

Plans have been filed over the 3,092 sqm corner site at Moore-Oxley Street, around 600 metres from Campbelltown Railway Station and the city-centre retail core.

The site already carries a mixed-use residential approval dating to 2016. Doroch Architects has now been engaged on a larger replacement scheme, which is progressing as a State Significant Development Application following a Housing Delivery Authority determination in August 2025.

The apartment mix comprises 39 one-bedroom, 72 two-bedroom and 28 three-bedroom residences. Two-bedroom apartments make up just over half of the project, while three-bedroom homes account for 20 per cent.

Of the 139 apartments, 23 will be delivered as affordable housing under the in-fill affordable housing provisions of the Housing SEPP. The affordable component represents 15 per cent of the residential gross floor area and will be managed by a registered Community Housing Provider.

Doroch has sought to break the scale of the building into two distinct elements, with a masonry podium of around four storeys establishing the street edge before the residential tower steps back above.

The corner position has shaped that approach. Cordeaux Street faces toward the commercial and civic centre, while Moore-Oxley Street leads into the lower-scale residential neighbourhood to the south, and the design verification report describes the site as "bridging the commercial core to the north and established residential areas to the south."

The podium will be expressed predominantly in face brick, while the upper levels shift to brushed and grooved concrete cladding with darker metal detailing. Recessed sections, deep balcony edges and landscaping break down the upper form, with an approximately 11.8-metre setback to the northern boundary addressing the adjoining St Peters Anglican School.

Queensland builder-developer MAYD has revealed the first look at its major North Kirra beachfront development, lodging amended plans that reduce the number of apartments and increase the proportion of larger residences.

The project is planned across a substantial 4,742 sqm amalgamated site spanning seven lots at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/2-6-pacific-parade-bilinga-qld-4225">2-6 Pacific Parade</a> and 27-33 Golden Four Drive in Bilin​ga, directly opposite Nor​th Kirra Beach.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD</a> secured the site for $32.5 million in 2025, in what was one of the Gold Coast's largest property transactions of the year.

The development will be delivered across two stages, with the first stage carrying an estimated gross realisation value of around $360 million.

The latest amendments seek to reduce the overall apartment count and shift the project further toward the owner-occupier market, with larger residences designed for buyers wanting considerably more space than traditionally offered in a beachfront apartment.

The residential mix will include townhomes, oversized two-bedroom apartments, substantial three-bedroom residences and four-bedroom homes.

MAYD has appointed Cera Stribley to lead the architecture and interiors, with the Melbourne-based design practice drawing on the beachfront setting through a series of ocean-facing terraces and heavily landscaped balconies.

Strong horizontal forms and curved balconies will define the exterior, with subtropical landscaping integrated throughout the building to soften the built form and increase the connection between the residences and the beachfront.

The project will also include an extensive collection of resident wellness and lifestyle facilities, continuing the broader shift across the Gold Coast's luxury apartment market toward larger homes supported by resort-style amenity.

MAYD Founder Todd Mould said North Kirra was increasingly appealing to buyers attracted to the more established, lower-density character of the southern Gold Coast.

"North Kirra presents one of the most compelling luxury residential opportunities currently emerging in Australia, combining absolute beachfront with the character and authenticity that buyers are increasingly seeking, and the same sense of tight-knit community that defined Burleigh and Currumbin perhaps 10 or 15 years ago," Mould said.

"With Gold Coast Airport on its doorstep, it also offers a level of accessibility that broadens its appeal across almost every market demographic."

The project comes as the southern Gold Coast continues to attract an increasing share of high-end apartment development and buyer activity.

Kirra in particular has emerged as one of the region's more tightly held beachfront markets, with its relatively low-density character, established surf and hospitality scene and proximity to Gold Coast Airport differentiating it from the higher-density markets further north.

Mould said those characteristics had informed the approach MAYD and Cera Stribley had taken to the project.

"We've worked closely with Cera Stribley to create a vision that is deeply connected to its surroundings," he said.

"Inspired by the coastline itself, the architecture has been shaped around space, privacy and resort-style living, creating a collection of homes that reflects the next generation of luxury on the southern Gold Coast."

MOTIV Managing Director Carly Cottam, who has been appointed to market the project, said buyer attention had continued to move south along the Gold Coast.

"Purchasers who may once have defaulted to Broadbeach, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise are increasingly recognising the value of a genuine beachfront location that offers lower density, strong amenity and a more established sense of community," Cottam said.

"Kirra has a powerful combination of growing demand and genuine scarcity. Beachfront supply is inherently constrained, the area remains relatively low density, and buyers are increasingly placing a premium on locations that feel established, uncrowded and authentic rather than heavily developed."

Cottam said the proximity to Gold Coast Airport was also proving increasingly important for interstate and second-home buyers.

"Being minutes from Gold Coast Airport makes it particularly compelling for interstate buyers, frequent travellers and second-home purchasers who can access an authentic coastal lifestyle almost immediately after stepping off a flight."

The acquisition takes MAYD's active development portfolio to more than $500 million, with the North Kirra project representing one of its largest undertakings to date.

Castle Hill, the longtime hub of the Hills District, has been one of the major beneficiaries of Sydney's Metro expansion, with improved connectivity helping drive continued population growth, development and buyer demand across the Hills District.

But despite that growth, the suburb has seen relatively few major new apartment projects brought to market over the past 18 months.

Nova Rêve also represents a significant step up from the family's first apartment development, Grand Rêve, which was delivered nearby on Garthowen Crescent.

Nova Rêve takes that approach to a precinct scale, combining the residential component with hospitality, retail and substantial public and resident landscaping.

Reve Group Managing Director Sam Kassis said the project reflected the family's three decades of building in the Hills, which has evolved from trophy homes on quarter-acre blocks to larger-scale apartment development.

"Grand Rêve was our first apartment project here and it showed us what this pocket of Castle Hill could be. Nova Rêve is the refinement of that idea: not just apartments, but a place the whole suburb can use," Kassis said.

A key part of that approach is the hotel, which has been designed to operate as an amenity for the wider Castle Hill community rather than solely hotel guests.

It will include restaurants, cafes, skybars and all-day dining, alongside conference and event facilities catering to business functions, community groups and private events.

At ground level, more than 1,600 sqm of shops and cafes will open onto the surrounding streets and landscaped areas.

Almost an acre of gardens designed by Land and Form Studios will run through the precinct, incorporating pathways, seating, barbecue areas and children's play spaces.

Reve Group's Romio Georges said creating an active ground plane had been central to the planning of Nova Rêve.

"There are gardens with pathways, barbecues, seating and play areas, shops and cafes opening onto the street, and a hotel with restaurants and a skybar that anyone in Castle Hill can walk into," Georges said.

The project's elevated position on one of Sydney's highest ridgelines will also provide apartments with outlooks toward the Sydney skyline, surrounding parkland and the Blue Mountains.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

The program introduces a shared equity model intended to reduce the upfront cost of entering the property market, particularly in high-demand urban areas such as Sydney.

The scheme operates under a shared ownership structure in which the federal government takes an equity stake of up to 40 per cent for new homes, or 30 per cent for existing dwellings. This arrangement allows eligible buyers to significantly reduce their loan size and avoid the added cost of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Under this model, purchasers can enter the property market with as little as a two per cent deposit, well below the traditional 10 to 20 per cent usually required. The government’s contribution is not a loan but a co-ownership stake in the property. As such, there is no interest or rent charged on its portion.

Because the government’s equity combined with the buyer’s deposit typically meets or exceeds the 20 per cent threshold, LMI does not apply. The remaining balance, generally between 60 and 70 per cent of the property’s value, is financed through a standard home loan with a participating lender.

The government's equity in the property remains in place until the buyer chooses to repay it voluntarily or until the property is sold. Buyers can buy back the government’s share over time, in increments of at least five per cent, depending on their financial situation.

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

<h2>How do you qualify for the&nbsp;Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Gaetjens Real Estate in Adelaide that was established in 1866, ranks the fourth oldest estate agency on Property Observer’s list. The agency is run by 86-year old Ken Gaetjens – great-grandson of Herman Gaetjens, who married into the agency in 1886.
It was added after <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/industry-news/the-oldest-real-estate-agencies-in-australia-as-ray-white-%E2%80%93-by-no-means-the-oldest-%E2%80%93-marks-110-years/2012062555079" target="_blank">Monday’s look at Australia’s oldest real estate agencies</a>, when a reader wrote in with the addition to the list.
It was originally founded by Adolph Heinrich Bartels and Christoph Meyer. Bartels was the mayor of Adelaide from 1871 to 1873. The agency was called Bartels &amp; Meyer before Herman Gaetjens acquired the business.
Danish-born Herman Gaetjens arrived in Australia from Denmark in 1860 and later became the mayor of Henley Beach.
Ken says six generations of the Gaetjens family have worked in the agency. His son and grand-daughter currently work at the agency.
“The game will still keep going,” he says.
Ken joined the agency in 1946 after coming out of the Air Force. He joined his father Arthur, who had been working there since 1912.
Ken Gaetjens says many members of the Gaetjens have been presidents of the Real Estate Institute of South Australia. Ken was president from 1978 to 1979.
Fittingly, the company specialises in selling property for the over-50s. The agency charges pensioners a discounted rate to sell their home and help them find retirement accommodation.
The title of Australia’s oldest real estate agency is claimed by Elders, established by Alexander Lang Elder in Port Adelaide in 1839.

South Australia’s Gaetjens Real Estate among the oldest agencies in Australia

Property developer Mirvac has begun talk with coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) producers about building houses for workers in northern Queensland, its managing director Nick Collishaw has said.
Collishaw says current talks about providing homes for workers building the new mining projects will be followed by discussions in about three to five years' time about longer-term, master-planned communities.
This follows Mirvac being named as the preferred developer of the Karratha city centre in the iron-ore rich Pilbara region in a joint venture project with the local land authority in a deal worth $1.5 billion.
The project will create the new suburb of Mulataga, providing accommodation for 8,000 people, Bloomberg reports.
“What’s been happening in the Pilbara and north of Queensland so far has been one off, ad hoc projects. The debate going on right now in the resource centres and councils is this is no longer boom-bust style development,” Collishaw says.
"We’re now putting together the infrastructure, the cultural facilities, you expect to see in the suburb of a city.”

Mirvac looking to build residential communities for mining towns in regional Queensland and WA

One of the most important economic announcements of the year has passed without fanfare and almost without comment. The venture will create the most powerful telescope ever made (it will have 2,000 dishes, each 12 metres wide).
The Square Kilometre Array is a $2.5 billion project that will make Australia the focus of major international attention for reasons other than the mining sector.
It’s an international project involving 20 nations, and a site just outside Geraldton in Western Australia will provide the core of the development. This makes Geraldton a city of international importance and adds to its appeal as a place worthy of consideration by property investors.

It’s been in the making for several years, with Australia initially making a short list of two to secure the project. It has a discovery potential 10,000 times greater than the best present-day telescopic instruments. It will allow us to see further into the universe than ever before
The federal government gave $80 million in the 2009 budget towards winning the project for Australia. The funds established an Australian National Centre for SKA Science to help the nation’s bid for this project, including a mini-SKA, the $110 million Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP) to road test Australia’s candidate site for the SKA.
In November 2011 the Western Australian government announced a $15 million plan to provide power for the SKA project, via a hybrid diesel/solar power plant. Funding for the project came from the Royalties for Regions Mid-West Investment Plan.
In other words, there was a considerable economic boost to Geraldton just in the attempt to win the project.
In May 2012 it was decided that Geraldton and its South African opponent would share the venture.
The decision means a square kilometre of dishes with multi-pixel radio cameras will be established at Boolardy Station, north-east of Geraldton.
Phase one of the project will start in 2016 and run until about 2020, with the remainder to be built in phase two. Its cost is currently estimated at $2.5 billion to build and $25 billion to maintain over the next 50 years, paid for by a consortium of 20 countries.
This makes Geraldton a city of international importance and adds to its appeal as a place worthy of consideration by property investors.
The other big venture impacting on Geraldton’s future is the $6 billion Oakajee port and rail project. This has been designed to service the iron ore mines of WA’s mid-west region, which doesn’t get the attention directed to the Pilbara but is nevertheless a key component of WA’s resources success story.
The Oakajee project has stalled because one of the key proponents, Murchison Metals, was essentially out of its depth and couldn’t fund it. Its partner, the Japanese giant Mitsubishi, has bought out Murchison and hopefully will advance the project, either alone or with new financial partners.
It the meantime, some of the other miners active in the mid-west have come up with “a rescue plan” to ensure this much-needed piece of infrastructure goes ahead, one way or the other.
Geraldton appeals to me because, unlike regional centres further north like Karratha and Port Hedland, it’s not reliant on mining as the only trick in its repertoire.
If iron ore mining shut down tomorrow, Geraldton would still chug along happily as a regional centre servicing a diverse economy with strong elements of agriculture, fishing and tourism. The SKA provides an additional major element.
The other key difference with Geraldton is that its real estate is affordable. You pay $800,000-ish for the typical Karratha house and over $1 million for the average dwelling in Port Hedland (and it is very average).
The mainstream house in Geraldton costs somewhere in the $300,000s, with a number of suburbs having median house prices in the $200,000s. The city has plentiful land supply, which means it doesn’t have the shortages that have bloated prices and rents in Karratha and Port Hedland.

The Square Kilometre Array will bring international attention – and property investment – to Geraldton, WA: Terry Ryder

Mortgage holders could be saving themselves thousands of dollars per year just by demanding a discount off their standard variable mortgage rate, says Aussie Home Loans founder John Symond.
“Standard variable is for people who have had a mortgage for three or four years and are too lazy to do something about it,” he says.
According to Symond, two out of three times a bank will be willing to offer variable borrowers a discounted rate if they ask.
The average standard variable rate of the big four banks currently stands at 6.76%, but Symond says borrowers should be able to get a discounted variable rate of around 5.8%.
According to Property Observer calculations, a $400,000 mortgage taken over 30 years at a rate of 6.76% equates to monthly repayments of around $1,950, while at a rate of 5.8% they fall by almost $200 to $1,760.
The difference in total mortgage repayments in these scenarios over the life of the loan is over $70,000.
Symond says it is essential that borrowers do a mortgage health check through a mortgage broker before they go and see their bank manager.
“A finance broker has hundreds of mortgages from all lenders, big and small,” Symond told David Koch on Channel 7's Sunrise this morning.
“What they [mortgage brokers] can do in 30 minutes you could not do in two months, and you can get a free and impartial view.
“And then if you like your bank, you can go to your bank and say: ‘I am paying three quarter of a percent to much here’.
“Two out of three times they will just drop your interest rate – just like that.”
Symond says there is no real need to fix your mortgage at the moment given the discount rates available on more flexible variable products.
“It is enticing to see three year fixed mortgages at around 5.75% now, the lowest in a long time, but anyone taking a mortgage today will get a variable rate around that figure.
"Borrowers on a variable rate of 5.75% or 5.8% should be holding off fixing.
“If it helps you sleep at night and you have a tight budget, go and fix half your mortgage.”
But he warns that a fixed-rate mortgage is an inflexible option.
“If you want to increase your repayments or add a redraw facility, a fixed-rate mortgage restricts your flexibility.
“With a variable rate you can do what you want,” he says.

Only lazy people stick with undiscounted standard variable mortgages: John Symond

US house prices across the 20 biggest metropolitan markets rose 1.3% over April according to the benchmark S&amp;P/Case-Schiller index, with signs emerging that the housing market may be stabilising.
The gain followed seven consecutive months of falling home prices.
The graph below shows the April turnaround as well as the massive drop in house prices that began in late 2007 following the start of the sub-prime mortgage crisis culminating in the US housing bubble bursting and prices falling 20%.

During April San Francisco was the strongest market,  registering a 3.4% gain, with Washington DC next best, up 2.8%. 
Out of the 20 cities measured by Case-Schiller, only Detroit recorded a house price decline, down 3.6% in April.
New York prices were flat, Chicago house prices rose 1.1%, and Los Angeles house prices gained 1.5%.
Over the past 12 months Phoenix was the standout market, with gains of 8.6%, while Atlanta is far and away the worst with a 17% plunge over the past year to April.

“Clearly the big headline is that we went up,” <a href="https://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000097956">David Blitzer, managing director and chairman of the S&amp;P Index Committee, told CBNC</a>.
“Nineteen out of the 20 cities saw gains. Across the board it looks like a very strong report,” Blitzer says.
He says some of the gains may be due to the spring selling season hitting its stride “but certainly not all of it”.
“My guess is at least half of what we're seeing are real gains, not just seasonal shifts.”
Blitzer says price gains were expected in April following increased sales and housing starts over the past few months, “amidst a lot of talk of better housing markets”.
Christopher Low, chief economist at FTN Financial, which “slices and dices” the housing market, says people have been talking about housing recovery for a while but keep being disappointed.
He says data is now stacking up better than it has in a long time, with new home sales “perking up off their lows”.
“What we see in the Case-Schiller Index is that house prices are starting to stabilise, and we keep seeing a handful of cities starting to pick up,” <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/video/u-s-home-prices-starting-to-stabilize-low-says-nStyghy~Qi~zyhIbALD7Kg">he told Bloomberg TV</a>.

US house prices rise 1.3% in April, with San Francisco and Washington the strongest performers: Case-Schiller index

A Chinese company headlines a consortium considering buying Cubbie Station, Australia's largest privately owned irrigation property.
Shandong Ruyi has an application with the Foreign Investment Review Board to buy iconic Cubbie Station, the Weekly Times reported exclusively today.
It said the lobbyist Ian Smith, of lobbying group Bespoke, had been in Canberra to test political support for the consortium's intended purchase of Cubbie.
The Weekly Times report suggests Shandong Ruyi is a Chinese government-backed company, and, if correct, this is likely to reignite the debate over whether Australia ought to have restrictions on foreign governments acquiring land.
New Foreign Investment Review Board chairman Brian Wilson has pledged to make sure investments made by foreign governments are completed for "rational, commercial reasons".
Cubbie went into voluntary administration in 2009 with debts of $320 million.
Cubbie administrator McGrathNicol had previously visited China to find a buyer for the station.
The administrator spokesman advised the Weekly Times that Cubbie was subject to "an ongoing sale process involving a range of interested parties".

With agricultural and textile processing interest, Shandong Ruyi is one of China's top 500 companies. Its most recent Australian acquistion was one of Victoria's most prestigious country estates, Larundel (pictured above), last November for about $14 million. The Ballarat district property was bought from veterinary product millionaires Paul and Gay Preat. Shandong Ruyi plans to turn the former wealthy Victorian squattocracy farm into a research and development centre specialising in the genetics and breeding of ultrafine wool.

The 1,000-hectare Larundel farm, in Victoria's Western District, had been listed through Jock Langley at Abercromby's Real Estate Armadale with a revised $14 million asking price having initially been listed with $20 million hopes in late 2009.
The Larundel homestead is at Cargerie, near Meredith, set in Paul Bangay gardens.
Its interiors were by designer John Coote.
It was built by the Austin family, founders of the Larundel psychiatric and Austin hospitals.

Last September SMH reporter Paddy Manning noted speculation on potential buyers for Cubbie had centred on locally listed grain grower PrimeAg, potentially in partnership with US fund Perry Capital, or Chinese interests including textile producer Shandong Ruyi.
A subsequent Australian Financial Review report earlier this year noted that Shandong Ruyi was part of a delegation in December 2011 of private and state-owned companies that met in Sydney with Austrade representatives, corporate advisers and industry heads to discuss opportunities in rural Australia.
The Chinese delegation included three representatives from China’s Ministry of Commerce, which recently forecast that the country’s private companies and wealth funds would invest up to $560 billion overseas by 2015.
The Chinese company seeks to capitalise on the surge of affluence in China, creating luxury expensive clothes made from cashmere and exclusive ultrafine merino wool.
Its 100-year plan, detailed on its multilingual website, describes how Ruyi, now in its 55th-year phase, intends to become a global force that is "an international supplier of fine-quality textile products, a leader of the textile-related industry and a provider of top-class products in China".
Shandong Ruyi chairman Qiu Yafu suggested after its Larundel acquisition that company's philosophy was based on Confucius and he sees its role as collaborative, not competitive.

Larundel for its ultrafine wool, now Chinese company considering Cubbie Station cotton farm acquistion

In this week's list of Australia's most discounted properties by SQM Research, we say goodbye to the long-running Thornleigh home. The four-bedroom Paling Street home finally sold after three years on the market. The price was withheld but it had been discounted by $400,000 and was advertised around the $700,000 mark. 
SQM director Louis Christopher says whoever bought the property secured themselves "potentially quite the bargain".
This week's list contains a mixed bag of properties, with only Northern Territory and ACT not appearing. The top discounted property remains unchanged from SQM's last list, a three bedroom horse property in Cedar Creek, Queensland. It has been on the market for 307 days and has been discounted 41%.
The only newcomers to the list are in Queen Street, Brisbane and White Beach, Tasmania. The Brisbane unit has been on the market since February 2010 and has reduced its asking price from $1.85 million to $1.15 million.

Research released yesterday by the Australian Farm Institute, entitled Will Corporate Agriculture Swallow The Family Farm?, found that in Victoria last year, only 28% of family farms were of sufficient scale and profitability to earn enough income to support the families owning them.
Only half of this group was classed as likely to achieve the same success in the future and more than one-third of all family farms relied on adults living on the farm to earn wages elsewhere, reinforcing the stereotype that many farm wives have to work as local doctors, hairdressers and teachers for their families to survive.
Another 39% of farmers earned so little from trying to grow and produce food that their family income was below the median of all Australian households.
AFI chief executive Mick Keogh told SmartCompany that family farms were at a disadvantage as revenue needed to be close to $500,000 a year for a farming business to have enough scale to be profitable.
“That is the hard reality at the moment; it is too hard to be profitable with low turnovers,” Keogh says.
The figures point to a growing view among policy-makers that corporate farming is inevitably going to grow in the future, and that farm businesses increasingly need to develop the scale and professionalism that is only possible within a well-capitalised structure, such as a corporate farm business.
However, Keogh cautioned the figures also included some farmers who farmed for lifestyle reasons rather than to make an income.
“If you look at farms with under $100,000 of sale a year, they tend to have in excess of 95% of their net income from off-farm wages,” he says.
“So the farm makes virtually no profit and they exist on off-farm wages.
“In effect they are choosing to be involved in farming for a range of different lifestyle reasons, it could be a vet who works in town and runs a farm on the weekend.”
Keogh says while many family farms are struggling, there are some family farms which are big and very profitable.
“It is not just corporates. There are farm businesses that are very big, they can be owned and operated by a farmer and they can be very big,” he says.
“I think the smaller farms have to take action, whether it is sourcing income off the farm to survive or looking at more specialised production like targeting farmers’ markets, or targeting specific markets like hospitality and finding themselves a business opportunity and surviving.”
Keogh warns there is a “strong disconnect” between the public perception of where food comes from and the reality, with 20% of famers producing almost 80% of total production.
“While the major retailers and food producers flat out advertise their connection with the average Joe farmer, a bloke on a tractor with his hat on, that’s not the reality. The reality now is much larger scale farm businesses,” he says.
Jock Laurie, president of the National Farmers Federation, says the family farm still has an important role to play in Australia but there is no doubt there is a lot of strength in the Australian corporate sector.
“Family farms are very strong and resilient businesses. They keep plodding along; whether they are profitable or not is another thing,” he says.
“The farmers work long hours and don’t necessarily work for the money others get paid and so, in many ways, they are very efficient.”
Laurie says the drought and changing family structures are both having an impact on family farms.
“Intergenerational change is an issue as generally what happens is property sizes get smaller, but when family businesses get scale they can do pretty well,” says Laurie.
“It’s a sign of the times. Many family farms have one or two people to work off the farm to generate income.”

The overseas retailer push continues with the British fashion retailer Topshop Topman to open its second Australian flagship store in Sydney’s historic Gowings building.

The Jam Factory on Melbourne’s Chapel Street was TT’s first Australian store opening late last year in space vacated by the collapsed bookseller Borders.

The retailer tweeted its announcement this afternoon. It will open in October.
“After the great response within the Melbourne market we are excited to announce our second Australian store opening,” Topman spokesperson said.
“The Topshop aesthetic will strike a cord with the effortlessly chic Sydney market and build on the phenomenal success of our Melbourne flagship store.”

 Topman will spend $1.85 million on the retail fitout of the Gowings building.
The George and Market streets corner will occupy 1800 square metres over four levels.

The landmark 1891 Reed Smart &amp; Tappin-designed Queen Anne home, with 1895 ballroom extension, was marketed last year with plans for possible subdivision, including a MGS Architecture-designed five-bedroom riverfront abode with copper roof, the <a href="https://radicalterrace.com/" target="_blank">radicalterrace website</a> noted.
