Queensland builder-developer MAYD has revealed the first look at its major North Kirra beachfront development, lodging amended plans that reduce the number of apartments and increase the proportion of larger residences.

The project is planned across a substantial 4,742 sqm amalgamated site spanning seven lots at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/2-6-pacific-parade-bilinga-qld-4225">2-6 Pacific Parade</a> and 27-33 Golden Four Drive in Bilin​ga, directly opposite Nor​th Kirra Beach.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD</a> secured the site for $32.5 million in 2025, in what was one of the Gold Coast's largest property transactions of the year.

The development will be delivered across two stages, with the first stage carrying an estimated gross realisation value of around $360 million.

The latest amendments seek to reduce the overall apartment count and shift the project further toward the owner-occupier market, with larger residences designed for buyers wanting considerably more space than traditionally offered in a beachfront apartment.

The residential mix will include townhomes, oversized two-bedroom apartments, substantial three-bedroom residences and four-bedroom homes.

MAYD has appointed Cera Stribley to lead the architecture and interiors, with the Melbourne-based design practice drawing on the beachfront setting through a series of ocean-facing terraces and heavily landscaped balconies.

Strong horizontal forms and curved balconies will define the exterior, with subtropical landscaping integrated throughout the building to soften the built form and increase the connection between the residences and the beachfront.

The project will also include an extensive collection of resident wellness and lifestyle facilities, continuing the broader shift across the Gold Coast's luxury apartment market toward larger homes supported by resort-style amenity.

MAYD Founder Todd Mould said North Kirra was increasingly appealing to buyers attracted to the more established, lower-density character of the southern Gold Coast.

"North Kirra presents one of the most compelling luxury residential opportunities currently emerging in Australia, combining absolute beachfront with the character and authenticity that buyers are increasingly seeking, and the same sense of tight-knit community that defined Burleigh and Currumbin perhaps 10 or 15 years ago," Mould said.

"With Gold Coast Airport on its doorstep, it also offers a level of accessibility that broadens its appeal across almost every market demographic."

The project comes as the southern Gold Coast continues to attract an increasing share of high-end apartment development and buyer activity.

Kirra in particular has emerged as one of the region's more tightly held beachfront markets, with its relatively low-density character, established surf and hospitality scene and proximity to Gold Coast Airport differentiating it from the higher-density markets further north.

Mould said those characteristics had informed the approach MAYD and Cera Stribley had taken to the project.

"We've worked closely with Cera Stribley to create a vision that is deeply connected to its surroundings," he said.

"Inspired by the coastline itself, the architecture has been shaped around space, privacy and resort-style living, creating a collection of homes that reflects the next generation of luxury on the southern Gold Coast."

MOTIV Managing Director Carly Cottam, who has been appointed to market the project, said buyer attention had continued to move south along the Gold Coast.

"Purchasers who may once have defaulted to Broadbeach, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise are increasingly recognising the value of a genuine beachfront location that offers lower density, strong amenity and a more established sense of community," Cottam said.

"Kirra has a powerful combination of growing demand and genuine scarcity. Beachfront supply is inherently constrained, the area remains relatively low density, and buyers are increasingly placing a premium on locations that feel established, uncrowded and authentic rather than heavily developed."

Cottam said the proximity to Gold Coast Airport was also proving increasingly important for interstate and second-home buyers.

"Being minutes from Gold Coast Airport makes it particularly compelling for interstate buyers, frequent travellers and second-home purchasers who can access an authentic coastal lifestyle almost immediately after stepping off a flight."

The acquisition takes MAYD's active development portfolio to more than $500 million, with the North Kirra project representing one of its largest undertakings to date.

Castle Hill, the longtime hub of the Hills District, has been one of the major beneficiaries of Sydney's Metro expansion, with improved connectivity helping drive continued population growth, development and buyer demand across the Hills District.

But despite that growth, the suburb has seen relatively few major new apartment projects brought to market over the past 18 months.

The project will comprise three residential towers alongside a hotel, restaurants, cafes and a skybar, more than 1,600 sqm of ground-floor retail and almost an acre of landscaped gardens.

It represents the largest project undertaken by Reve Group, the development arm of the Kassis family, which has been building across the Hills District for more than 30 years through Kassis Homes.

Nova Rêve also represents a significant step up from the family's first apartment development, Grand Rêve, which was delivered nearby on Garthowen Crescent.

Grand Rêve introduced larger, house-like apartment layouts and premium inclusions including Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances to the Castle Hill market.

Nova Rêve takes that approach to a precinct scale, combining the residential component with hospitality, retail and substantial public and resident landscaping.

Reve Group Managing Director Sam Kassis said the project reflected the family's three decades of building in the Hills, which has evolved from trophy homes on quarter-acre blocks to larger-scale apartment development.

"Grand Rêve was our first apartment project here and it showed us what this pocket of Castle Hill could be. Nova Rêve is the refinement of that idea: not just apartments, but a place the whole suburb can use," Kassis said.

A key part of that approach is the hotel, which has been designed to operate as an amenity for the wider Castle Hill community rather than solely hotel guests.

It will include restaurants, cafes, skybars and all-day dining, alongside conference and event facilities catering to business functions, community groups and private events.

At ground level, more than 1,600 sqm of shops and cafes will open onto the surrounding streets and landscaped areas.

Almost an acre of gardens designed by Land and Form Studios will run through the precinct, incorporating pathways, seating, barbecue areas and children's play spaces.

Reve Group's Romio Georges said creating an active ground plane had been central to the planning of Nova Rêve.

"There are gardens with pathways, barbecues, seating and play areas, shops and cafes opening onto the street, and a hotel with restaurants and a skybar that anyone in Castle Hill can walk into," Georges said.

The project's elevated position on one of Sydney's highest ridgelines will also provide apartments with outlooks toward the Sydney skyline, surrounding parkland and the Blue Mountains.

More than 80 per cent of the apartments will occupy corner positions, with Turner responsible for both the architecture and interiors.

Maréa Residences brings parkside apartments to Coolangatta

Melbourne developer PDG has secured Victorian Government approval for its $1.5 billion Southbank development <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-one-1-queens-bridge-street-southbank-vic-3006">The One</a>, clearing the way for the long-dormant riverfront site opposite Crown to finally be developed.

The Minister for Planning has approved the project at 1-29 Queens Bridge Street, with the Department of Transport and Planning issuing the planning permit following its assessment.

The approval will allow PDG to develop the prominent 5,059 sqm site with a major mixed-use tower comprising premium apartments, including branded residences, a luxury hotel and boutique office space.

PDG acquired the site in late 2024, with its position directly opposite Crown's main entrance and near Melbourne's Arts Precinct making it one of Southbank's most significant remaining development opportunities.

Designed by COX in collaboration with ODO and PDG, the tower's architecture draws on the movement of the Yarra River, with six vertical pleats running the height of the sculpted facade.

The project will also see the heritage-listed Queens Bridge Hotel restored and incorporated into the development&nbsp;with new hospitality and public uses, including a rooftop venue.

A significant component of The One will be its residential amenity.

More than 5,000 sqm of resident facilities will be delivered across a single level, making it one of the largest consolidated residential amenity offerings proposed in an Australian apartment development.

The planning approval also incorporates a major upgrade of Queensbridge Square, which PDG will deliver in partnership with the City of Melbourne.

The existing square will be revitalised as a new civic and pedestrian space along the Yarra River, strengthening the connection between the project, Southbank and the riverfront.

PDG Founder and Managing Director Vince Giuliano said the approval represented a major milestone for a site which has remained largely underutilised for more than 15 years.

“This is the most significant Planning Permit approval Melbourne has seen in recent years,” Giuliano said.

“For more than 15 years, this site has remained underutilised. This approval enables us to deliver a project that will contribute meaningfully to the revitalisation of Southbank, restore and reactivate an important heritage building, and create a new civic and hospitality destination for Melbourne.”

The latest approval follows an earlier planning permit issued by the City of Melbourne covering demolition works across part of the site at 9-29 Queens Bridge Street. Those demolition and early works are already underway.

PDG has also started generating early interest in the residential component from owner-occupiers ahead of a planned public launch in early 2027.

PDG secures approval for $1.5bn Southbank apartment development, The One

Local developer Harridan is seeking to turn its Woolloongabba apartment project into the first stage of a broader transformation of Burke Street, using a new 16-storey mixed-use building to establish a greener pedestrian connection toward the rapidly evolving Boggo Road transport and knowledge precinct.

The South East Queensland developer has filed plans for 154 apartments on the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/4-burke-street-woolloongabba-qld-4102">southern side of Burke Street</a>, where its proposal has been designed alongside a wider vision by LatStudios for the street.

That vision positions the southern side of Burke Street for buildings of 15 storeys and above, while envisaging lower-rise development of up to five storeys on the northern side to transition into Woolloongabba's existing character housing. It also proposes wider pedestrian verges, deep planting, new street trees and upgrades to the pedestrian approach to Boggo Road Station.

The Harridan development itself has been designed by Brisbane-based Arqus Design and will comprise 154 apartments across 16 storeys. The mix is weighted heavily toward two-bedroom apartments, with 121 proposed alongside 10 one-bedroom and 23 three-bedroom residences. There will typically be around 14 units per floor.

A lower-ground car park and three podium levels will accommodate 156 resident parking spaces, along with visitor and commercial parking. There will also be 154 resident bicycle spaces and 40 visitor bicycle parks.

Harridan is a family-owned developer and part of the Holmwood Highgate Group, with more than three decades of development activity across South East Queensland. Its portfolio spans residential, commercial and industrial property, with current residential projects including Riverbank on Byron in Bulimba, Esperance Residences in Carina and The Precinct at Kinross Road in Thornlands.

Wooloongabba has been popular for apartment developers, particularly since the announcement of the 2032 Summer Olympics games in Brisbane.

While there have been a lot of development applications, it has failed to materialize into real supply.&nbsp;

First look: Harridan plans Burke Street transformation beside Boggo Road transport hub

Sydney’s property market is known for high prices, competitive bidding, and mounting pressure on first home buyers. But change is on the horizon.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

The program introduces a shared equity model intended to reduce the upfront cost of entering the property market, particularly in high-demand urban areas such as Sydney.

The scheme operates under a shared ownership structure in which the federal government takes an equity stake of up to 40 per cent for new homes, or 30 per cent for existing dwellings. This arrangement allows eligible buyers to significantly reduce their loan size and avoid the added cost of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Under this model, purchasers can enter the property market with as little as a two per cent deposit, well below the traditional 10 to 20 per cent usually required. The government’s contribution is not a loan but a co-ownership stake in the property. As such, there is no interest or rent charged on its portion.

Because the government’s equity combined with the buyer’s deposit typically meets or exceeds the 20 per cent threshold, LMI does not apply. The remaining balance, generally between 60 and 70 per cent of the property’s value, is financed through a standard home loan with a participating lender.

The government's equity in the property remains in place until the buyer chooses to repay it voluntarily or until the property is sold. Buyers can buy back the government’s share over time, in increments of at least five per cent, depending on their financial situation.

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

<h2>How do you qualify for the&nbsp;Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

	<li>Be an Australian citizen at least 18 years of age.</li>
	<li>Be a first-home buyer who does not currently own property.</li>
	<li>Intend to live in the property as their primary residence.</li>

Finally some good news for NSW, with the newly elected government recognising that infrastructure spending is priority number one. For well over a decade infrastructure investment in NSW has all but been ignored, so last week’s budget announcement signals a much brighter future for an ailing NSW economy. Past governments have continually ignored that NSW was suffering from an inadequate supply of new homes, which in turn forced young families to relocate to other states in search of affordable housing and a better standard of living.
In the 2011-12 budget the government has committed $62.6 billion over the next four years, which they described as the biggest such commitment in the state’s history. A surplus of $292 million is forecast for 2012-13, and $156 million for 2013-14, with 2014-15 delivering a surplus of $152 million.
Finally NSW has an infrastructure map where not only the government but businesses and families can plan for their futures. All it took was an infrastructure vision.
Delivering his first budget Treasurer Mike Baird said: “A key part of rebuilding NSW is building the infrastructure our communities so desperately need. Nowhere in Labor’s infrastructure backlog felt more than in our hospitals which is why we have committed a record $1.08 billion to the health capital works program, along with $343 million set aside for new works.”
The budget invests $6.3 billion in infrastructure investment in roads and transport. Baird said: “The NSW government has increased spending on transport and roads infrastructure by nearly 10% on Labor’s last budget and we have invested more than $600 million on the northwest and southwest rail links. Since the election we have made good on our promise to fast-track the northwest rail link and today, we have backed those actions up with real money, with $314 million allocated this year to develop the line between Epping and Rouse Hill, including $222 million for land acquisition.”
Obviously this is a very expensive infrastructure spend, which explains the establishment of Infrastructure NSW, which has been set up to improve the way that infrastructure is assessed and delivered. Legislation has been passed to establish Restart NSW, the NSW Government’s key infrastructure fund of which one-third of all funding will be quarantined to deliver infrastructure in the regions.
The government has established Waratah Bonds, which are government-backed securities.  The aim is to attract the mum and dad investors, which is excellent timing given what’s currently happening to world financial markets. Instead of selling public assets, Sydney’s Port Botany shipping terminal will be leased for 99 years as will the desalination plant at Kurnell.
To kick-start the floundering construction industry <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/residential/nsw-scraps-stamp-duty-concessions-for-existing-homes-from-2012/2011090651441" target="_blank">the stamp duty exemption will be limited to newly built homes only</a> – as against the previous carrot for first home buyers where exemptions applied to all properties worth up to $600,000.
The last time Sydney had a big infrastructure announcement was back on September 23, 1993, when International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch announced from Monte Carlo that Sydney would be host for the 2000 Olympics. Our bid organisers budgeted $2.3 billion to run the Games, including $674 million on facilities and venues. In addition, the federal and NSW governments allocated $4.1 billion for transportation projects.
The $860 million makeover of Star City, which will now be called The Star, is Sydney’s first new five- star hotel since the Olympics which highlights the extent to which infrastructure in Sydney has frozen. I could add the Cross City and Lane Cove Tunnels which have turned out to be financial infrastructure disasters.
Finally, NSW has a structured infrastructure plan, and as they say in the movies, “I love it when a plan comes together.” Let’s hope that NSW becomes a box office hit again!

NSW infrastructure announcement a step in the right direction

Property advisory group Herron Todd White has acquired environmental broker Earthtrade.
Earthtrade, the commercial arm of the Burnett Mary Regional Group Inc, was developed in 2008 to provide environmental offset solutions for development approvals.
Herron Todd White, which operates 58 offices with an annual turnover over $70 million, will expect to expand the Earthtrade brand by addressing the issues around environmental sustainability in the property market.
“With our in-depth understanding of rural values and our extensive network, we can help our customers better understand their obligations and assist in matching their demand for offsets with available supply,” Herron Todd White chairman Gavin Hulcombe says.
HTW is hoping to deliver environmental offset solutions to clients at the feasibility stage to assist in reducing project timelines and decrease overall costs.
“A number of large organisations are already investigating issues of sustainability, from approval conditions relating to finance, to internal policies designed to address environmental impacts from development projects,” Hulcombe says.
Hulcombe notes that offsets are used to maintain a regional ecosystem affected by infrastructure and property development activities.
He notes that offsets can only be used when all other efforts to avoid or minimise environmental impacts have been exhausted.
“The acquisition will enable Herron Todd White to assist clients navigate through their requirements in purchasing environmental offsets under diverse and complex legislation,” he adds.

Some 89% of Australia's agricultural land is owned by Australians, according to an Australian Bureau of Statistics survey.
The figures showed 99% of agricultural businesses are Australian-owned, and 91% of water entitlements for agricultural purposes were also held by Australians or Australian companies.
The Agricultural Land and Water Ownership report states 353 million hectares of Australia's 398 million hectares of farming land is entirely Australian-owned, in the first official figures on the subject in more than 25 years.
Victoria had the lowest level of foreign ownership of farming land, with 0.8% of its 99,500 hectares of land reported as having some level of foreign ownership.
The Northern Territory had the highest level of foreign ownership, with 24% or 14 million hectares reported as having some level of foreign ownership.
Of the 353 million hectares of farming land in Australia, some 45 million hectares had some level of foreign ownership and 0.3 million hectares had an unknown ownership status.
Of the agricultural land with some foreign ownership, 168,500 hectares were owned by businesses that had less than 10% foreign ownership, 22 million hectares were owned by businesses that had between 10% and 50% foreign ownership and 23 million hectares were owned by businesses that had more than 50% foreign ownership.
It comes at a time that rural estate agents have suggested international inquiries for rural land are at their highest levels in a decade, with most interest stemming from China and the Middle East.
Of Australia's 13,700 gigalitres of water entitlements used for agricultural purposes, about 12,500 gigalitres were owned by entirely Australian owned business, 1169 gigalitres had some level of foreign ownership and 97 gigalitres had an unknown ownership status, according to the report.
The data collected by survey gives a snapshot of land ownership at December 2010.
The industry group reporting the highest proportion of Australian land ownership was the nursery and floriculture production, with 99%, or 279,000 hectares, entirely Australian-owned.
The industry group reporting the highest proportion of some level of foreign ownership (therefore the lowest proportion of Australian land ownership) was the sheep, beef cattle and grain farming group. More than 11% of this group reported some level of foreign ownership (representing nearly 44 million hectares), leaving approximately 88% or 329 million hectares entirely Australian-owned.
With the survey prompted by the opposition and Greens agitating for greater scrutiny of foreign investment in farming, Assistant Treasurer Bill Shorten said the survey showed the vast majority of agricultural resources were locally owned.
''There's going to be legitimate anxieties about this in the future. But the snapshot of the present shows we have not sold the farm, the land or the water,'' Shorten says.
Opposition spokesman for agriculture and food security John Cobb says the figures showing Australians owned 99% of agricultural businesses were skewed by not looking at the size of the businesses.
''By including every small family farm business structure with an ABN we cannot see the proportion of large businesses like the grain marketing companies or the dairy food processes that are foreign-owned,'' Cobb says.

Gains made on property investments held by self-managed super funds are likely to come under greater scrutiny following plans for a new ATO benchmarking report.
The tax office has set up a working group to look at ways to gather and publish annual details of the average investment return and operational costs based on the size of the SMSF, assistant tax commissioner Stuart Forsyth has revealed.
A by-product of this project would be a crackdown on those SMSFs avoiding paying tax on the any gains they have made on their investments – including any gains on property they hold within their fund.
Property is a growing component of SMSF portfolios, with DIY funds investing $500 million more in real estate in the March quarter than they did in the previous quarter, according to official ATO figures.
According to Multiport, which administers around 1,400 DIY funds, 16% of their portfolios are made up of property assets.
The increasing scrutiny of DIY super funds comes as the sectors continue to grow, with $3 billion added over the March quarter taking the total investments held by 7,500 funds to $418 billion.
Details of the working group were revealed by Forsyth in an interview with the Australian Financial Review.
Forsyth says the working group might look at segmenting funds based on their account balance with $50,000 to more than $10 million.
It follows warnings by Forsyth that SMSFs faced heavy tax penalties for failing to lodge annual tax returns on time.
The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia has expressed concerns at the broad approach of the proposal.
“What is very important is the ability to compare like with like and it must include all fees, such as audit fees and advice fees, and it must be net returns,” says ASFA chief executive Pauline Vamos
In 2010, the Cooper review of the superannuation called for improvements to the level of quality information due to the size of the sector which includes 460,000 funds and is now worth around $1.4 trillion.

Tax Office to look more closely at SMSF property investment

Former Westpoint chief financial officer Graeme Rundle has received a suspended 18-month imprisonment sentence in the Parramatta District Court today after being found guilty of two criminal offences of making a false or misleading statement.
Found guilty of obtaining a financial advantage for Scots Church Development Limited by a jury on June 24, 2011,  Rundle’s offences involved contraventions of section 178BB of the NSW Crimes Act.
The charges related to statements made to a financial institution in relation to obtaining a $71 million construction finance facility to complete a project at York Street, Sydney. Following the announcement of the suspended sentence ASIC chairman Greg Medcraft notes chief financial officers, as officers of a corporation, must take their responsibilities seriously, and discharge their legal duties to the company and to comply with the law carefully. “Chief financial officers must ensure that any representations made by them to financiers on behalf of companies are accurate,”  Medcraft says. Medcraft suggests the case highlights ASIC’s willingness to address corporate misconduct.
“To date ASIC has pursued a wide range of actions and remedies concerning Westpoint against gatekeepers such as financial advisers, auditors, trustees and directors,” Medcraft adds
Rundle was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment on each count (to be served concurrently), with the sentence to be suspended contingent upon him entering into an 18-month good behaviour bond. The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions prosecuted the matter.
When the Westpoint Group collapsed in early 2006, investors in Westpoint-issued financial products had an outstanding total capital invested of approximately $388 million. The estimated losses to investors totalled approximately $310 million. ASIC commenced compensation actions in 2007 and 2008.
In February 2011 ASIC announced it had reached agreements to settle the compensation actions it has conducted on behalf of the Westpoint Group of companies against certain directors of the companies and KPMG.
In addition to its compensation actions, ASIC has banned 23 licensed advisers, four unlicensed advisers and one corporate entity in relation to advice concerning Westpoint-related products for periods between three years and permanently. ASIC has also accepted enforceable undertakings from three KPMG partners, preventing them from practising as auditors for periods between nine months and two years.</body></html>

McManus has blamed the Taxation Office for the collapse of one of his touring companies, which went into liquidation last month owing more than $4.2 million. Corporate records show the ATO is owed more than $1.1 million by Andrew McManus Presents (International), making it the company's biggest creditor. ''They just keep sending massive bills and it's cheaper for me to do it this way than try and fight them in court,'' McManus told The Age this week. Demetri’s Castle, also known as the historic gothic Mount Martha mansion Glynt Manor, has been relisted with revised hopes.
It was initially listed by hair and make-up artists Demetri and Lila Sideropoulos, who wanted $6.5 million for the nine-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion on its 2010 listing.
The Greek couple, whose celebrity clients have included Matt Damon, Russell Crowe, Bert Newton and the Pussycat Dolls , bought the 1914 house in 2009 for a reported $4.3 million and then thoroughly renovated it into a family home and bed and breakfast on the SBS documentary Demetri’s Castle.
It sits on about 8000 square metres, with views of Port Phillip Bay and the Melbourne lights in the distance. It was designed by Harold Desbrowe Annear as a single-storey farmhouse for the Henty family, descendants of Victoria's first European settlers.
It bears a similarity to another of his designs, Delgany at Portsea. Its later owners included the Buxton family.
Last year the Sideropouloses indicated they were selling so they could pursue opportunities overseas, saying they didn't get attached to things. Geoff Smith from LJ Hooker Frankston has the auction scheduled for October 8.

Demetri's Castle - star of SBS series - to go under the hammer

Intrigue surrounds the dispute between billionaire iron-ore tycoon Gina Rinehart and her daughter Hope Rinehart Welker, who is suing Rinehart in the NSW Supreme Court.
Perhaps it is an intellectual property dispute, as suggested by the Australian Financial Review, but it potentially could spill over into real property, given their business and private lives are so entwined.
Rinehart Welker, who turned 26 last month, has never had any public spotlight. Her only company directorship is of 150 Investments Pty Ltd, the family entity that owns the Sydney home of Hope and her husband, Ryan Welker.
The $5.4 million contemporary non-waterfront residence in Mosman was bought in August 2007 through LJ Hooker agent Geoff Smith. Hope Welker became a co-director of the company in September 2007.
Rinehart Welker, who has played a low-profile role in the Rinehart family business, Hancock Prospecting, lives with her 29-year-old American-born, London-educated husband, who was appointed last December as non-executive director to the board of Mineral Resources, in which Hancock Prospecting has a small stake.
Previously Welker had a stint with Hancock Prospecting between April 2008 and July 2009 working on the commercial development of Alpha coal project in the Galilee Basin, Roy Hill iron ore project in the Pilbara, Western Australia and the Nicholas Downs manganese project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.
Rinehart is a director of 150 Investment with her daughters, Hope and Bianca, according to recent reports.
It was only eight years ago that Rinehart also fell out with her son, John, who changed his name by deed poll to John Hancock. John forced to vacate the family-owned apartment in Perth when  his mother put it on the market in 2003. He took legal action in an attempt to claim a share of the Hancock family trust, describing in a court affidavit his mother as "a very powerful and controlling person". John has since returned to the fold.
Justice Paul Brereton <a target="_blank" href="https://www.smartcompany.com.au/advertising-and-marketing/20110907-gina-rinehart-s-daughter-launches-legal-claim-against-iron-ore-billionaire" title="Gina Rinehart sued">stood the Rinehart Welker matter over</a> to the same court on September 21 and adjourned to the registrar's list on September 14 a "notice to produce".
Alan Sullivan, QC, the barrister for Rinehart, told the judge that "in due course, if this case does proceed" he would apply for suppression orders.
Sullivan asked that third-party access to the court file be restricted until September 21. The judge noted that, to date, there had been a summons, an affidavit and an order of the court.
Sullivan said the reasons for the application involved "the impact on commercial negotiations". Brereton agreed to hear argument today on restricting third-party access, which would include the media.
Rinehart’s total fortune to $10.3 billion, according to BRW’s valuation in May.
