Queensland builder-developer MAYD has revealed the first look at its major North Kirra beachfront development, lodging amended plans that reduce the number of apartments and increase the proportion of larger residences.

The project is planned across a substantial 4,742 sqm amalgamated site spanning seven lots at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/2-6-pacific-parade-bilinga-qld-4225">2-6 Pacific Parade</a> and 27-33 Golden Four Drive in Bilin​ga, directly opposite Nor​th Kirra Beach.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD</a> secured the site for $32.5 million in 2025, in what was one of the Gold Coast's largest property transactions of the year.

The development will be delivered across two stages, with the first stage carrying an estimated gross realisation value of around $360 million.

The latest amendments seek to reduce the overall apartment count and shift the project further toward the owner-occupier market, with larger residences designed for buyers wanting considerably more space than traditionally offered in a beachfront apartment.

The residential mix will include townhomes, oversized two-bedroom apartments, substantial three-bedroom residences and four-bedroom homes.

MAYD has appointed Cera Stribley to lead the architecture and interiors, with the Melbourne-based design practice drawing on the beachfront setting through a series of ocean-facing terraces and heavily landscaped balconies.

Strong horizontal forms and curved balconies will define the exterior, with subtropical landscaping integrated throughout the building to soften the built form and increase the connection between the residences and the beachfront.

The project will also include an extensive collection of resident wellness and lifestyle facilities, continuing the broader shift across the Gold Coast's luxury apartment market toward larger homes supported by resort-style amenity.

MAYD Founder Todd Mould said North Kirra was increasingly appealing to buyers attracted to the more established, lower-density character of the southern Gold Coast.

"North Kirra presents one of the most compelling luxury residential opportunities currently emerging in Australia, combining absolute beachfront with the character and authenticity that buyers are increasingly seeking, and the same sense of tight-knit community that defined Burleigh and Currumbin perhaps 10 or 15 years ago," Mould said.

"With Gold Coast Airport on its doorstep, it also offers a level of accessibility that broadens its appeal across almost every market demographic."

The project comes as the southern Gold Coast continues to attract an increasing share of high-end apartment development and buyer activity.

Kirra in particular has emerged as one of the region's more tightly held beachfront markets, with its relatively low-density character, established surf and hospitality scene and proximity to Gold Coast Airport differentiating it from the higher-density markets further north.

Mould said those characteristics had informed the approach MAYD and Cera Stribley had taken to the project.

"We've worked closely with Cera Stribley to create a vision that is deeply connected to its surroundings," he said.

"Inspired by the coastline itself, the architecture has been shaped around space, privacy and resort-style living, creating a collection of homes that reflects the next generation of luxury on the southern Gold Coast."

MOTIV Managing Director Carly Cottam, who has been appointed to market the project, said buyer attention had continued to move south along the Gold Coast.

"Purchasers who may once have defaulted to Broadbeach, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise are increasingly recognising the value of a genuine beachfront location that offers lower density, strong amenity and a more established sense of community," Cottam said.

"Kirra has a powerful combination of growing demand and genuine scarcity. Beachfront supply is inherently constrained, the area remains relatively low density, and buyers are increasingly placing a premium on locations that feel established, uncrowded and authentic rather than heavily developed."

Cottam said the proximity to Gold Coast Airport was also proving increasingly important for interstate and second-home buyers.

"Being minutes from Gold Coast Airport makes it particularly compelling for interstate buyers, frequent travellers and second-home purchasers who can access an authentic coastal lifestyle almost immediately after stepping off a flight."

The acquisition takes MAYD's active development portfolio to more than $500 million, with the North Kirra project representing one of its largest undertakings to date.

Castle Hill, the longtime hub of the Hills District, has been one of the major beneficiaries of Sydney's Metro expansion, with improved connectivity helping drive continued population growth, development and buyer demand across the Hills District.

But despite that growth, the suburb has seen relatively few major new apartment projects brought to market over the past 18 months.

The project will comprise three residential towers alongside a hotel, restaurants, cafes and a skybar, more than 1,600 sqm of ground-floor retail and almost an acre of landscaped gardens.

It represents the largest project undertaken by Reve Group, the development arm of the Kassis family, which has been building across the Hills District for more than 30 years through Kassis Homes.

Nova Rêve also represents a significant step up from the family's first apartment development, Grand Rêve, which was delivered nearby on Garthowen Crescent.

Grand Rêve introduced larger, house-like apartment layouts and premium inclusions including Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances to the Castle Hill market.

Nova Rêve takes that approach to a precinct scale, combining the residential component with hospitality, retail and substantial public and resident landscaping.

Reve Group Managing Director Sam Kassis said the project reflected the family's three decades of building in the Hills, which has evolved from trophy homes on quarter-acre blocks to larger-scale apartment development.

"Grand Rêve was our first apartment project here and it showed us what this pocket of Castle Hill could be. Nova Rêve is the refinement of that idea: not just apartments, but a place the whole suburb can use," Kassis said.

A key part of that approach is the hotel, which has been designed to operate as an amenity for the wider Castle Hill community rather than solely hotel guests.

It will include restaurants, cafes, skybars and all-day dining, alongside conference and event facilities catering to business functions, community groups and private events.

At ground level, more than 1,600 sqm of shops and cafes will open onto the surrounding streets and landscaped areas.

Almost an acre of gardens designed by Land and Form Studios will run through the precinct, incorporating pathways, seating, barbecue areas and children's play spaces.

Reve Group's Romio Georges said creating an active ground plane had been central to the planning of Nova Rêve.

"There are gardens with pathways, barbecues, seating and play areas, shops and cafes opening onto the street, and a hotel with restaurants and a skybar that anyone in Castle Hill can walk into," Georges said.

The project's elevated position on one of Sydney's highest ridgelines will also provide apartments with outlooks toward the Sydney skyline, surrounding parkland and the Blue Mountains.

More than 80 per cent of the apartments will occupy corner positions, with Turner responsible for both the architecture and interiors.

Maréa Residences brings parkside apartments to Coolangatta

Melbourne developer PDG has secured Victorian Government approval for its $1.5 billion Southbank development <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-one-1-queens-bridge-street-southbank-vic-3006">The One</a>, clearing the way for the long-dormant riverfront site opposite Crown to finally be developed.

The Minister for Planning has approved the project at 1-29 Queens Bridge Street, with the Department of Transport and Planning issuing the planning permit following its assessment.

The approval will allow PDG to develop the prominent 5,059 sqm site with a major mixed-use tower comprising premium apartments, including branded residences, a luxury hotel and boutique office space.

PDG acquired the site in late 2024, with its position directly opposite Crown's main entrance and near Melbourne's Arts Precinct making it one of Southbank's most significant remaining development opportunities.

Designed by COX in collaboration with ODO and PDG, the tower's architecture draws on the movement of the Yarra River, with six vertical pleats running the height of the sculpted facade.

The project will also see the heritage-listed Queens Bridge Hotel restored and incorporated into the development&nbsp;with new hospitality and public uses, including a rooftop venue.

A significant component of The One will be its residential amenity.

More than 5,000 sqm of resident facilities will be delivered across a single level, making it one of the largest consolidated residential amenity offerings proposed in an Australian apartment development.

The planning approval also incorporates a major upgrade of Queensbridge Square, which PDG will deliver in partnership with the City of Melbourne.

The existing square will be revitalised as a new civic and pedestrian space along the Yarra River, strengthening the connection between the project, Southbank and the riverfront.

PDG Founder and Managing Director Vince Giuliano said the approval represented a major milestone for a site which has remained largely underutilised for more than 15 years.

“This is the most significant Planning Permit approval Melbourne has seen in recent years,” Giuliano said.

“For more than 15 years, this site has remained underutilised. This approval enables us to deliver a project that will contribute meaningfully to the revitalisation of Southbank, restore and reactivate an important heritage building, and create a new civic and hospitality destination for Melbourne.”

The latest approval follows an earlier planning permit issued by the City of Melbourne covering demolition works across part of the site at 9-29 Queens Bridge Street. Those demolition and early works are already underway.

PDG has also started generating early interest in the residential component from owner-occupiers ahead of a planned public launch in early 2027.

PDG secures approval for $1.5bn Southbank apartment development, The One

Local developer Harridan is seeking to turn its Woolloongabba apartment project into the first stage of a broader transformation of Burke Street, using a new 16-storey mixed-use building to establish a greener pedestrian connection toward the rapidly evolving Boggo Road transport and knowledge precinct.

The South East Queensland developer has filed plans for 154 apartments on the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/4-burke-street-woolloongabba-qld-4102">southern side of Burke Street</a>, where its proposal has been designed alongside a wider vision by LatStudios for the street.

That vision positions the southern side of Burke Street for buildings of 15 storeys and above, while envisaging lower-rise development of up to five storeys on the northern side to transition into Woolloongabba's existing character housing. It also proposes wider pedestrian verges, deep planting, new street trees and upgrades to the pedestrian approach to Boggo Road Station.

The Harridan development itself has been designed by Brisbane-based Arqus Design and will comprise 154 apartments across 16 storeys. The mix is weighted heavily toward two-bedroom apartments, with 121 proposed alongside 10 one-bedroom and 23 three-bedroom residences. There will typically be around 14 units per floor.

A lower-ground car park and three podium levels will accommodate 156 resident parking spaces, along with visitor and commercial parking. There will also be 154 resident bicycle spaces and 40 visitor bicycle parks.

Harridan is a family-owned developer and part of the Holmwood Highgate Group, with more than three decades of development activity across South East Queensland. Its portfolio spans residential, commercial and industrial property, with current residential projects including Riverbank on Byron in Bulimba, Esperance Residences in Carina and The Precinct at Kinross Road in Thornlands.

Wooloongabba has been popular for apartment developers, particularly since the announcement of the 2032 Summer Olympics games in Brisbane.

While there have been a lot of development applications, it has failed to materialize into real supply.&nbsp;

First look: Harridan plans Burke Street transformation beside Boggo Road transport hub

Sydney’s property market is known for high prices, competitive bidding, and mounting pressure on first home buyers. But change is on the horizon.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

The program introduces a shared equity model intended to reduce the upfront cost of entering the property market, particularly in high-demand urban areas such as Sydney.

The scheme operates under a shared ownership structure in which the federal government takes an equity stake of up to 40 per cent for new homes, or 30 per cent for existing dwellings. This arrangement allows eligible buyers to significantly reduce their loan size and avoid the added cost of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Under this model, purchasers can enter the property market with as little as a two per cent deposit, well below the traditional 10 to 20 per cent usually required. The government’s contribution is not a loan but a co-ownership stake in the property. As such, there is no interest or rent charged on its portion.

Because the government’s equity combined with the buyer’s deposit typically meets or exceeds the 20 per cent threshold, LMI does not apply. The remaining balance, generally between 60 and 70 per cent of the property’s value, is financed through a standard home loan with a participating lender.

The government's equity in the property remains in place until the buyer chooses to repay it voluntarily or until the property is sold. Buyers can buy back the government’s share over time, in increments of at least five per cent, depending on their financial situation.

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

<h2>How do you qualify for the&nbsp;Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

	<li>Be an Australian citizen at least 18 years of age.</li>
	<li>Be a first-home buyer who does not currently own property.</li>
	<li>Intend to live in the property as their primary residence.</li>

Lachlan Murdoch, the former Bronte-loving media tycoon, and his model wife, Sarah, have relisted their Bronte house for sale.
Christies International has the Murdochs' redundant Bronte house on its books, presumably at less than the $13.5 million initial asking price sought in late 2009.
There is no price indication of the website listing.
The house was recently rented to actor Toni Collette while she undertook renovations to her hillside house.
It was an unsolicited bid in April 2005 that secured the $7.75 million house above Bronte Beach as the Murdochs’ base for their return to Australia from New York.
Photos of the house had been emailed to their New York office by News Ltd property officer Steve Payne, and the couple inspected it on brief trips to Australia.
It was bought from Graham Ford, the Bronte Surf Club president, who built it in 2001.
The Murdochs had been keen for the cosmopolitan beach strip, which represented a change from the Opera House vista from Point Piper where the couple had sold their four-level harbourfront for $20.8 million in March 2005, having paid $12 million in 1999 to the mining magnate Robert Friedland.
With too many stairs and too little grass, family patriarch Rupert Murdoch noted on his first inspection of the Wolseley Road Point Piper house that it was unsuitable for small children in 1999.
It’s likely Le Manoir, Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch's $23 million Georgian estate in Bellevue Hill, will become the couple's permanent base. But no development application has been publicly lodged since its late 2009 purchase nor since they spent $2.63 million on a property next door in February this year, which added 1,049 square metres to their initial 4,097-square-metre hillside purchase.
Le Manoir had previously traded at $26,000 in 1956 when bought by the French government from May McDonald, the New Caledonian-born widow of solicitor Roy McDonald, who was the founding president of the Hydroponic Society of Australia.
Woollahra Library records indicate its design for the McDonalds was by Copeman and Lemont after the land was hived off the 1919 Rocky Park subdivision undertaken by jeweller Melen Myers.
In the meantime the Murdoch couple continue their two-year lease on Coolong, the Vaucluse beachfront residence of expats Ivan and Marina Ritossa, in early 2010.
It's the house the Murdochs wanted before buying Le Manoir, which was unencumbered and unrenovated, for $23 million when they outbid nine other parties in November 2009.
In  2008 Coolong set the then Sydney residential record, with Allco founder David Coe securing $45 million from Ritossa, the global head of foreign exchange at Barclays Capital, through estate agent Bill Bridges and McGrath agent Hamish Robertson. 
The record Sydney house sale hit $53 million last year in Point Piper.
The Murdoch rental house with private beach dates back to Sir Alexis Albert, from the Boomerang music songbook family, who built on the 4,100-square-metre block in 1936.

What attracted me in the first place was the very unusual façade of 324 and even though it has a block of flats next door overlooking at front and back, which may affect the amenity and the feel in the backyard, I still went inside thinking I could like this - and I did.
Basically it's a three-level house (but it has a lift) with multiple zones on each level. Level one does have a high-quality kitchen and kids' bedrooms and full-length doors. Dining room in a funny place but it sort of works. The second level works well bedrooms and billiard room and then the third level - wow, great views and the lift goes up to it. You would use this.
Two car parks, while without garaging, are good for this area. Its is a question of price. About $4 million was gettable on the forefront last on similar blocks, but with weaker homes, so is more than $5 million with a better home gettable this year? Time will tell if Hocking Stuart agent Andrew Stuart can deliver - history shows says he can - will today's market follow history?
This property, which has price hopes of $5 million plus, went to auction on Saturday, September 24 at 12.30pm. It was passed in on a vendor's bid of $5 million.

Vendors of St Kilda West home hope $5 million is over the horizon

For those who maintain <a target="_blank" title="Paddington" href="/news">Paddington </a>is Sydney's real estate pacesetter, the latest listing will suggest if there's much competition at the pricey end of the market.
The Leal family, who made their money as owners of Super Smash, the Bondi smash repairer, have listed their grand Paddington Street home with $11 million hopes.
It’s not their first foray into record-setting Paddington listings, as they sold their previous double-fronted offering for a record $4.52 million in late 2004 to investment industry bigwig Andre Morony and his wife, Beverley, through McGrath agents James Dack and Ben Collier. It was a four-level, six-metre-wide terrace standing on a 202-square-metre block.
The latest offering is described by Collier, who is marketing the property, as "arguably one of Paddington’s finest homes".
The north-facing terrace is set on a 390-square-metre block of land, located at the Woollahra end of Paddington Street.
It has four levels with lift access. The double-fronted terrace spans 12 metres in width.
The two now amalgamated terraces were consolidated in 2000.
The Paddington record residential price is $7.75 million when a Goodhope Street Dunkley Developments residence sold through Bickmore-Hutt agent Damien Bickmore-Hutt in April 2010. There had been an earlier $7.75 million sale in 2006 when stockbroker Neville Miles sold in Union Street.
Fashion designer Collette Dinnigan secured $7.3 million for her resort-style Paddington residence earlier this year. The Underwood Street property last traded at $4.1 million in 2002 when bought from the then Altona, Point Piper-bound couple, Deke and Eve Miskin. It sold through Ben Collier and James Dack at McGrath Estate Agents, in conjunction with Bill Malouf. Dinnigan had initially listed in 2009 with $10 million hopes.

Sharon Stone, best known for her role as man-eater Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct, has listed her Beverly Hills mansion for less than what she paid for it in 2006. She purchased the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom Mediterranean compound for about US$11 million and now is looking for US$8,995,000 for it.
Stone never moved into the property, according to reports, and has been trying to sell it off and on since 2009. The two-hectare property includes parking for 14 cars, a tennis court, pathways that wind their way through lush foilage and across bridges, a library and separate guest quarters. Joseph Babajian of <a href="https://www.rodeore.com/claw_featured.asp" title="Rodeo Realty" target="_blank">Rodeo Realty</a> is marketing the property. The property is a half-hour walk from Sunset Boulevard. 
With the state of the real estate market in the US, Stone will be keeping her fingers - and legs - crossed for a buyer.

Sharon Stone shows little basic property instinct

The much-anticipated listing of the Sydney Harbour home of the late arts patron Ann Lewis has made its way onto the market.
The 1909 residence, Amaroo, comes with direct access to a sandy beach and private deepwater jetty. There is also a boat pen for large cruiser, one of only two in Rose Bay.   Luciano Pavarotti was just one of many dinner guests at Lewis’ three-level villa, which would not look out of place overlooking the Mediterranean.
It was her home for about 55 years, and has now been listed for October 27 auction by her four children, Amanda Zsebik, Tony Lewis, Annalise Scanlan and Daniel Lewis, following her death in May.
The internal photos of the house were taken before much of her contemporary art collection was donated to various regional galleries.
It included a massive John Olsen painting that hung from her dining room ceiling for 45 years, but now hangs at the Newcastle Regional Gallery.
Her home town of Moree was given 65 works by indigenous artists.
Mossgreen is set to sell the contents at a forthcoming auction.
A Mungindi grazier's daughter, Ann Livingston met building construction magnate John Lewis on the dance floor at Prunier's in Woollahra.
Title Tattle, the Property Observer weekly Friday column on the property comings and goings of Australia's movers and shakers, <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/news/title-tattle-jackie-o-swaps-paddington-pad-for-highlands-hideaway/2011071450812" target="_blank">heralded the listing in mid-July.</a>
The Australian Financial Review speculates its pricing will exceed Rose Bay's $18.2 million top sale.

Green Lantern star Ryan Reynolds has listed his two-bedroom house in Los Angeles with price hopes of US$1,599,000. The 166-square-metre ranch-style house above the Sunset Strip has a new roof, hardwood floors and canyon views.
The Canadian actor's home is modest by Hollywood standards, and he paid US$1,715,000 for it in 2007. He listed it for US$1.9 million for 2009 but withdrew it from the market when it failed to find a buyer. In July 2011 he was willing to take a loss on the property and put it back on the market with price hopes of US$1.69 million and has subsequently discounted it to its current asking price. 
Annie Challis from <a href="https://www.kw.com/homes-for-sale/90068/CA/Los-Angeles-City-/2416-CARMAN-CREST-Drive/3yd-CLAWCA-11542999" target="_blank">Keller Williams Realty</a> is marketing the property, which she describes as a "totally private hideaway". 
Reynolds has made his mark on the worlds of rom-coms and superhero action flicks, from The Proposal to his recent turns in X-Men: Origins and Green Lantern.

China’s housing inflation eased slightly in August, according to the ANZ Bank.
The August figure reflected an annual rise of 4.1% against July's 4.3% annual increase, suggesting that the central government's tightening efforts are continuing to show modest results.
The Chinese National Bureau of Statistics reported that real estate prices in 46 out of the 70 largest cities either declined or remain unchanged in the month.
Of the 70 large and midsize cities covered in the government survey, 23 showed higher prices in August than in July, the National Bureau of Statistics says.
This was down on the 39 showing higher prices in July than June.
The ANZ report notes new home prices rose in Shanghai (+0.3ppt), Guangzhou (+0.6ppt) and Shenzhen (+0.2ppt); but were flat in Beijing.
On a month-to-month basis, housing inflation was flat nationwide, it notes.
Forbes reports month-on-month declines in new home prices in 16 cities in August, up from 14 cities showing declines in July.
In the latest effort to curb property prices, Beijing has required municipal and state governments to establish new home price control targets based on economic growth and increases in disposable income.

Property investors looking to finance off-the-plan properties using their self-managed super funds should seek comprehensive legal advice, according to a property lawyer.
According to Daniel Butler, director of DBA Lawyers, off-the-plan purchases remain popular using SMSF limited recourse borrowing arrangements (LBRA).
“There are a lot of apartments selling off-the-plan and a lot more to come, with many SMSFs investing in them,” he has told delegates at the Institute of Chartered Accountants National SMSF Conference in Melbourne.
However, despite last week’s ATO draft ruling on LBRAs, which includes an example of an off-the-plan purchase as an allowable single asset acquisition, issues around the timing of making borrowing arrangements remain.
The ATO example reads:
“The trustees of an SMSF pay an amount to secure the purchase of an apartment 'off the plan'. This is not the subject of an LRBA.
“Once the apartment is completed and strata titled the trustees are required to complete the purchase. The trustees can enter into an LRBA to facilitate its acquisition as it is a single acquirable asset.”
“This means you have to be really careful with the timing of your limited recourse borrowing arrangements,” Butler says.
“According to the ATO, you only enter into an LBRA arrangement at times of settlement.
“But hang on … you have to know upfront when you sign the contract that you will have the borrowing on board, so timing here is an issue. You need to be certain of the funding at the time you enter into the contract,” he says.
“When you sign an off-the-plan contract, you are acquiring something that has not yet developed; you are acquiring “thin air”.
“The ATO has been undecided on this issue as well; its view is also up there in thin air.”
Butler is hopeful though that based on submission made to the draft ruling the commissioner will resolve these issues.
Currently, though, it remains a purchase which continues to worry some financial advisors and accountants.

Using a DIY super fund to buy property off the plan a grey area

Hilary Duff, best known for her title role on the Disney show Lizzie McGuire, has listed her six-bedroom, five-bathroom house in the LA suburb of Toluca Lake for US$6.5 million.
Duff purchased the house, which is listed through <a target="_parent" href="https://drewfenton.com/index.php?section=properties">Hilton &amp; Hyland </a>agent Drew Fenton, in 2004 for US$3.5 million in the name of her manager, Susan Curtis. The 862-square-metre house includes an industrial-sized kitchen, billiard room, gym, gift-wrapping room, wine cellar, game room and a room-sized closet that would knock Carrie Bradshaw off her Manolos. 
The 23-year-old starlet has two clothing lines, two perfumes, two platinum-selling albums and one gold-selling album. Duff and her husband, Mike Comrie, have reportedly moved to the more celebrity-studded Beverly Hills and are expecting their first child.

The rural sector has been buoyed by the reported $20 million sale of the Ballarat grazing property Trawalla.
It’s a 14-bedroom 1890s homestead along with 4,140 hectares of grazing and cropping land.
Its Elders listing agent Shane McIntyre has confirmed its sale, but declined to comment on the details.
The Australian Financial Review reports it has been bought by the Richmond family from Geelong.
The property, first settled in 1839, had several owners before it was built for Rear Admiral Bridges, who acquired it in 1887 through the marriage of the owners' daughter, Annie Wilson.
Recent reports put spring listings as subdued following good rains and bumper winter crops across much of eastern Australia.
Landmark Harcourt NSW state manager Phil Rourke has suggested listings this spring could be 30% fewer than last spring. It follows a 30% drop in listings of 40 hectares-plus in the first nine months of 2011 compared with 2010.
Property values across Australia’s rural property sector had recently begun to stabilise after nearly three years of value uncertainty, according to Colliers International rural and agribusiness director Phil Schell.
“Despite the fact that major activity is still dominated by distressed asset opportunities more buyers are in the market and more vendors are prepared to meet price expectations,” he says.
“Offshore investors are cashed up and are actively pursuing major asset opportunities of $20 million plus, but domestically it’s a different story.
“Although Australian buyers are showing genuine interest, they are cautious, and the recent debt issues in Europe and the US have only heightened this sentiment.
“Lending is still problematic.
“Buyers in the sub-$10 million market seem to be the most constrained, and this is slowing down market activity.”
Schell says the banks’ lending ratios just don’t seem to reflect buyer confidence.
He notes there has been strong enquiry from overseas funds, including South East Asia, the US, the Middle East and the UK, for opportunities in the beef cattle sector, particularly in northern Australia.
“Chinese investors have interest in large scale grain properties and expanding the opportunity to export oaten hay in to China.
“This is a new market, and interest is high.”
