A long-stalled Campbelltown development site is back in play, with new plans for 139 apartments set to supersede a mixed-use scheme approved almost a decade ago but never built.

The new proposal for 28 Cordeaux Street would deliver 116 market and 23 affordable apartments in a part 14-storey building, bringing a substantial new project into a Campbelltown market where new apartment supply remains limited.

Plans have been filed over the 3,092 sqm corner site at Moore-Oxley Street, around 600 metres from Campbelltown Railway Station and the city-centre retail core.

The site already carries a mixed-use residential approval dating to 2016. Doroch Architects has now been engaged on a larger replacement scheme, which is progressing as a State Significant Development Application following a Housing Delivery Authority determination in August 2025.

The apartment mix comprises 39 one-bedroom, 72 two-bedroom and 28 three-bedroom residences. Two-bedroom apartments make up just over half of the project, while three-bedroom homes account for 20 per cent.

Of the 139 apartments, 23 will be delivered as affordable housing under the in-fill affordable housing provisions of the Housing SEPP. The affordable component represents 15 per cent of the residential gross floor area and will be managed by a registered Community Housing Provider.

Doroch has sought to break the scale of the building into two distinct elements, with a masonry podium of around four storeys establishing the street edge before the residential tower steps back above.

The corner position has shaped that approach. Cordeaux Street faces toward the commercial and civic centre, while Moore-Oxley Street leads into the lower-scale residential neighbourhood to the south, and the design verification report describes the site as "bridging the commercial core to the north and established residential areas to the south."

The podium will be expressed predominantly in face brick, while the upper levels shift to brushed and grooved concrete cladding with darker metal detailing. Recessed sections, deep balcony edges and landscaping break down the upper form, with an approximately 11.8-metre setback to the northern boundary addressing the adjoining St Peters Anglican School.

Queensland builder-developer MAYD has revealed the first look at its major North Kirra beachfront development, lodging amended plans that reduce the number of apartments and increase the proportion of larger residences.

The project is planned across a substantial 4,742 sqm amalgamated site spanning seven lots at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/2-6-pacific-parade-bilinga-qld-4225">2-6 Pacific Parade</a> and 27-33 Golden Four Drive in Bilin​ga, directly opposite Nor​th Kirra Beach.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/mayd-group">MAYD</a> secured the site for $32.5 million in 2025, in what was one of the Gold Coast's largest property transactions of the year.

The development will be delivered across two stages, with the first stage carrying an estimated gross realisation value of around $360 million.

The latest amendments seek to reduce the overall apartment count and shift the project further toward the owner-occupier market, with larger residences designed for buyers wanting considerably more space than traditionally offered in a beachfront apartment.

The residential mix will include townhomes, oversized two-bedroom apartments, substantial three-bedroom residences and four-bedroom homes.

MAYD has appointed Cera Stribley to lead the architecture and interiors, with the Melbourne-based design practice drawing on the beachfront setting through a series of ocean-facing terraces and heavily landscaped balconies.

Strong horizontal forms and curved balconies will define the exterior, with subtropical landscaping integrated throughout the building to soften the built form and increase the connection between the residences and the beachfront.

The project will also include an extensive collection of resident wellness and lifestyle facilities, continuing the broader shift across the Gold Coast's luxury apartment market toward larger homes supported by resort-style amenity.

MAYD Founder Todd Mould said North Kirra was increasingly appealing to buyers attracted to the more established, lower-density character of the southern Gold Coast.

"North Kirra presents one of the most compelling luxury residential opportunities currently emerging in Australia, combining absolute beachfront with the character and authenticity that buyers are increasingly seeking, and the same sense of tight-knit community that defined Burleigh and Currumbin perhaps 10 or 15 years ago," Mould said.

"With Gold Coast Airport on its doorstep, it also offers a level of accessibility that broadens its appeal across almost every market demographic."

The project comes as the southern Gold Coast continues to attract an increasing share of high-end apartment development and buyer activity.

Kirra in particular has emerged as one of the region's more tightly held beachfront markets, with its relatively low-density character, established surf and hospitality scene and proximity to Gold Coast Airport differentiating it from the higher-density markets further north.

Mould said those characteristics had informed the approach MAYD and Cera Stribley had taken to the project.

"We've worked closely with Cera Stribley to create a vision that is deeply connected to its surroundings," he said.

"Inspired by the coastline itself, the architecture has been shaped around space, privacy and resort-style living, creating a collection of homes that reflects the next generation of luxury on the southern Gold Coast."

MOTIV Managing Director Carly Cottam, who has been appointed to market the project, said buyer attention had continued to move south along the Gold Coast.

"Purchasers who may once have defaulted to Broadbeach, Main Beach or Surfers Paradise are increasingly recognising the value of a genuine beachfront location that offers lower density, strong amenity and a more established sense of community," Cottam said.

"Kirra has a powerful combination of growing demand and genuine scarcity. Beachfront supply is inherently constrained, the area remains relatively low density, and buyers are increasingly placing a premium on locations that feel established, uncrowded and authentic rather than heavily developed."

Cottam said the proximity to Gold Coast Airport was also proving increasingly important for interstate and second-home buyers.

"Being minutes from Gold Coast Airport makes it particularly compelling for interstate buyers, frequent travellers and second-home purchasers who can access an authentic coastal lifestyle almost immediately after stepping off a flight."

The acquisition takes MAYD's active development portfolio to more than $500 million, with the North Kirra project representing one of its largest undertakings to date.

Castle Hill, the longtime hub of the Hills District, has been one of the major beneficiaries of Sydney's Metro expansion, with improved connectivity helping drive continued population growth, development and buyer demand across the Hills District.

But despite that growth, the suburb has seen relatively few major new apartment projects brought to market over the past 18 months.

Nova Rêve also represents a significant step up from the family's first apartment development, Grand Rêve, which was delivered nearby on Garthowen Crescent.

Nova Rêve takes that approach to a precinct scale, combining the residential component with hospitality, retail and substantial public and resident landscaping.

Reve Group Managing Director Sam Kassis said the project reflected the family's three decades of building in the Hills, which has evolved from trophy homes on quarter-acre blocks to larger-scale apartment development.

"Grand Rêve was our first apartment project here and it showed us what this pocket of Castle Hill could be. Nova Rêve is the refinement of that idea: not just apartments, but a place the whole suburb can use," Kassis said.

A key part of that approach is the hotel, which has been designed to operate as an amenity for the wider Castle Hill community rather than solely hotel guests.

It will include restaurants, cafes, skybars and all-day dining, alongside conference and event facilities catering to business functions, community groups and private events.

At ground level, more than 1,600 sqm of shops and cafes will open onto the surrounding streets and landscaped areas.

Almost an acre of gardens designed by Land and Form Studios will run through the precinct, incorporating pathways, seating, barbecue areas and children's play spaces.

Reve Group's Romio Georges said creating an active ground plane had been central to the planning of Nova Rêve.

"There are gardens with pathways, barbecues, seating and play areas, shops and cafes opening onto the street, and a hotel with restaurants and a skybar that anyone in Castle Hill can walk into," Georges said.

The project's elevated position on one of Sydney's highest ridgelines will also provide apartments with outlooks toward the Sydney skyline, surrounding parkland and the Blue Mountains.

More than 80 per cent of the apartments will occupy corner positions, with Turner responsible for both the architecture and interiors.

From late 2025, eligible first home buyers in New South Wales will have access to a new federal government initiative aimed at addressing affordability: the Help to Buy Scheme.&nbsp;

<h2>What is the Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

The program introduces a shared equity model intended to reduce the upfront cost of entering the property market, particularly in high-demand urban areas such as Sydney.

The scheme operates under a shared ownership structure in which the federal government takes an equity stake of up to 40 per cent for new homes, or 30 per cent for existing dwellings. This arrangement allows eligible buyers to significantly reduce their loan size and avoid the added cost of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI).

Under this model, purchasers can enter the property market with as little as a two per cent deposit, well below the traditional 10 to 20 per cent usually required. The government’s contribution is not a loan but a co-ownership stake in the property. As such, there is no interest or rent charged on its portion.

Because the government’s equity combined with the buyer’s deposit typically meets or exceeds the 20 per cent threshold, LMI does not apply. The remaining balance, generally between 60 and 70 per cent of the property’s value, is financed through a standard home loan with a participating lender.

The government's equity in the property remains in place until the buyer chooses to repay it voluntarily or until the property is sold. Buyers can buy back the government’s share over time, in increments of at least five per cent, depending on their financial situation.

There is no fixed repayment timeline, but the amount to be repaid will be based on the property's market value at the time of repayment, not the original purchase price.

<h2>How do you qualify for the&nbsp;Help to Buy Scheme?</h2>

To qualify for the Help to Buy Scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

They say bad things come in threes, so perhaps not surprisingly Sydney’s third record-setting penthouse sale has floundered.
<a href="https://afr.com/p/business/property/penthouse_fetches_record_price_KJOWqeDDfQUMe6OaDtqQtJ" target="_blank">It was reported last December in the Australian Financial Review</a> that the penthouse in the Hyde Park tower The Residence had been sold by the developer Galileo Group for around $20 million.

But no exchanged contract was ever signed and buyers are now being invited to inspect the soon-to-be furnished apartment 88 from next month.
It’s listed by CBRE agent Ben Stewart, who repeatedly and accurately maintained no sale had taken place, but this was ignored in all the media reports barring Title Tattle.
The Title Tattle column noted the sale of the penthouse of The Residence had become akin to pulling a rabbit out of a hat as there had also been an initial premature AFR September sale report that suggested a very bullish $25 million. Then December's updated sales advisory had it at $20 million plus. But Title Tattle reported suggestions that no official exchange had actually occurred, although there was definite buyer interest.
Sydney's bad luck run with record penthouse price-setting sales not transpiring included developer Andrew Richardson, who in 2009 lost his record $20.1 million off-the-plan penthouse buyer in The Elizabeth, which also overlooks Hyde Park. Richardson had accepted a $100 deposit for the proposed three-storey penthouse from the now-bankrupted businessman, Rodney Price.
Ashington's former $70 million Wylde Street, Potts Point project was the location of the earlier other abandoned record setting deal.
Ashington had sold the penthouse atop its proposed six-floor 10-unit complex designed by Tzannes Associates. But the buyer Duncan Hardie who was willing to continue with his intended $20 million purchase, didnt really get a choice as the Ashtington project never proceeded following the collapse of the Ashington company.

The Andersons have extensively restored the vast house after paying $4.25 million in 2007 after it had been also ambitiously listed with $7 million plus hopes in 2005. By 1997 it was in a sad state when it was bought for $1.25 million by the Anstee family.
The latest Highlife marketing advertisement confirms the couple’s desire to move to France for a while with Anderson no doubt travelling back regularly for his corporate commitments while his wife pursues her passion for French antique trading. Readers might recognise the house, which features in a cross country motor vehicle commercial where rather than spend a night camping in a tent the couple actually sleep over at Hopewood.

It’s the three-level Southern Cross Drive house, the subject of a court battle between Perrin and the Commonwealth Bank, which <a target="_blank" href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/residential/nicole-perrin-joyous-but-stacey-mcivor-distraught-in-cronin-island-home-dramas/2011092051617">unsuccessfully sought to seize it</a> in a bid to recover a $13.5 million debt owed by Matthew after he filed for bankruptcy in 2009. The contemporary mansion with seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms straddles a double block. There’s also a 10-car garage. Listing agent Michael Willems of Ray White Surfers Paradise, confirmed the sale but declined to provide details.

The mobile-phone industry entrepreneur Ron Bakir attended the auction, but no word yet on its buyer. The Gold Coast Bulletin speculates it has sold to parties well known to the McIvor family, but marketing agent Michael Kollosche, of Ray White Broadbeach, declined to comment. It has an amazing 11 ornate fireplaces – eight marble and three timber. The original billiard room connects by a glass walkway to the alfresco garden eatery. The rear garden comes with what was reportedly Adelaide's first residential in-ground pool. Offers close February 23.
Sir George Brookman, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, migrated with his parents  in 1852. He was a successful share broker politician. After gold finds in Western Australia, Brookman pegged claims at Hannan's Find, north-east of Coolgardie, in 1893. When the Coolgardie Gold Mining and Prospecting Co. was voluntarily liquidated in 1898, its capitalisation represented £9,275,750.

Dato Tan Chin Nam had Bart Cummings trained Think Big to win the Melbourne Cup in 1974 and 1975, and then Saintly in 1996.

Simon and Catriona Mordant have been living in the two-storey penthouse since paying $5.25 million in 2002. It has about 245 square metres of space plus some 90 square metres of terraces. Its listing agents are Bill Malouf and Emma Prgomelja at LJHooker Double Bay.

The Atkinses had it listed through Ryan Petrie of LJ Hooker Mona Vale with $2.5 million-plus expectations based on three sales in the neighbourhood. They secured $2.5 million. The Atkinses wanted something smaller than the 4,047-square-metre property, which comes with tennis court and pool. They spent $2.51 million at Curl Curl on a three-bedroom property initially listed at $2.9 million.

The terrace sold late last year at an undisclosed price through McGrath agent Chris Chung after failing to sell at its May auction, when $2.05 million was being sought. It was sold by Sophia Massey-Green and James Hutton, who’d paid $930,000 pre-renovation in early 2009. In neighbouring Surry Hills another world record holder, Eamon Sullivan, spent $1,265,000 in 2009 for his renovated four-bedroom terrace.

The three-bedroom Macleay Street apartment – with about 350 square metres, including indoor-outdoor balcony space – has been listed through Jason Boon and Geoff Cox from Richardson and Wrench Elizabeth Bay. It last traded in 2006 when bought for $7.38 million. Offers above $8 million were initially sought in nearly 2010, but they’ve had to amend them since the penthouse was sold recently to Lizanne Knights, the wife of the director of local private-equity group Ironbridge and Sydney Dance Company chairman Julian Knights for $6.17 million.  The Knightses’ whole-floor unit had previously traded for $7.4 million in 2008. It’s a five-bedroom, sixth-floor unit, with 280 square metres of internal space plus 50-square-metre terrace, and was a combination of two units. The Knightses sold their Rose Bay harbourfront home for $17.56 million in late 2010. It last traded in 2006 when bought for $7.38 million.

Donnelly briefly hit the headlines late last year when he faced legal action from a Cayman Islands outfit seeking to seize his mansion along with a $250,000 luxury yacht. He’s contested their entitlement and still very much in residence and presumably still getting around on weekends in the 12-metre Riviera 4000. Ross Savva at Kay and Burton South Yarra has the Selborne Road listing.

The Pomeroy apartment with extensive terracing but just the one rather sad potted plant settled in August 2004. Samba was shot dead as he tried to flee from a gunman police believe lured him to an ambush on a busy street in Melbourne's bayside suburb of Middle Park in February this year. Police have yet to lay any changes over the murder of the expert judge of yearlings and big spender at sales around the country for many years.

Sales aplenty on the Gold Coast - Nicole Perrin and even McIvor achieve post-auction success: Title Tattle

The listed law firm Slater &amp; Gordon has confirmed it is working on a class action against Bankwest, alleging improper lending practices after its takeover by Commonwealth Bank of Australia during the global financial crisis.
Van Moulis, commercial litigation lawyer at Slater &amp; Gordon, says he's working on due diligence on behalf of a group of more than 27 aggrieved borrowers. Slater &amp; Gordon is working in tandem with the litigation funder IMF.
Moulis says the borrowers are primarily property developers, including co-ordinator Guy Goldrick, a Sydney property developer who has accused Bankwest of pulling loans at short notice and for insufficient reason.
Moulis says he's "reasonably confident" the case will proceed, calling on property developers who believe they were victimised by "improper" lending practices and recovery practices around 2008 to contact the law firm.
A Bankwest spokesperson says the bank will "always consider and respond to any legitimate query raised by a customer."
The confirmation comes as Nationals Senator John Williams speaks to fellow Senators about the prospect of a Senate inquiry into whether banks are pulling loans to small business clients, including farmers, leading to assets being sold at rock-bottom levels.
Williams told SmartCompany earlier this week there are "appalling" examples of asset being sold far below their value.
Moulis says a class action would likely complement a Senate inquiry.
"Whatever comes first," he says. "We'll probably end up with both."
Property developer Guy Goldrick told SmartCompany that he had received hundreds of calls from Bankwest customers complaining about the bank's behaviour since its takeover by CommBank.
Goldrick is the owner of Mortgage Wise Australia, and says he was involved in a development that was funded by Bankwest.
The thrust of Goldrick's argument is that a provision allowing CommBank to claw back bad and doubtful debts from vendor HBOS has led to the bank "making harsh decisions".
"It started as soon as it was taken over; people put to the sword by the stroke of a pen," he said.
"We're alleging that most of these loans would have never been considered to be bad or in default, and that all of a sudden the loans were bad.
"The question mark is how they changed in one day."
But a Bankwest spokesperson says Goldrick has no claim against the bank.
"Guy Goldrick is not a customer of Bankwest and he has no claim against the Bank. His allegations concerning Bankwest have no merit."

Slater & Gordon considers class action against Bankwest over claims of 'improper' lending practices

Stockland has recorded an increase in buyer activity for its residential offerings in south-east Queensland since September last year, according to chief executive Matthew Quinn. 
He emphasises this is only the case for the company’s “affordable” offerings and not for the market in general. 
Speaking at a media briefing following the release of interim 2012 results that showed statutory profit down 28% to $307.6 million on the back of a “challenging” last six months, Quinn said there had been a pick-up up in inquiries and deposits in south-east Queensland but that certain pockets of the market such are still doing it very tough. 
Quinn says the south-east Queensland market is still operating well below capacity, with underlying demand not being reflected in actual sales activity. 
“Brisbane and Perth should be our strongest markets, but paradoxically they are our weakest,” he says. 
“One reason for this is the surplus of stock on the market. The market got ahead of itself. But that stock is now clearing and buying activity is increasing for new product. 
“The signs are much more positive for our affordable product type.” 
During the presentation Quinn highlighted the healthy state of its residential division and says Stockland will achieve its full-year earnings guidance due in large part to residential sales. 
“Our residential business is well positioned with 2,488 contracts on hand at 31 December 2011 (equivalent to approximately $530 million of revenue), compared to 2,288 at 30 June 2011,” he says. 
“Deposits and leads are tracking well with both showing two quarters of consecutive growth – a trend that continued in January with deposits for the month higher than the average for the past 12 months.

According to Quinn, lead volumes, “the ultimate leading indicator” of future demand, are increasing at an even higher rate than deposits. 
“Leads are buyers that come into sales centre and show genuine interest. There has been a substantial increase in this.” 
In addition, first-home buyers are re-emerging, accounting for 40% of all leads compared with a normal ratio of between 20% to 30%. 
“This is a strong signal that the market is moving,” he says. 
Quinn says Stockland is focused on developing residential assets for three specific customer segments: the mass market, middle Australian and those seeking affordable housing. 
“There has been a big shift in buyer behaviour in last three years. 
“If it’s affordable and they need it they will buy it… If it is expensive and they don’t need they will wait,” he says. 
Stockland reported underlying profit of $350.8 million, down 8% on the first half of 2011, and underlying earnings per security of 14.9¢, down 7%.

Residential buyer activity picking up in south-east Queensland: Stockland

Jolly arts guru and merchant banker Simon Mordant has listed his redundant hillside Darling Point penthouse following his $10.8 million purchase of the garden harbourfront apartment in the recently completed Buckhurst block in Point Piper.
No price estimate has been given, but market observers suggest $6.5 million plus. 
Simon and Catriona Mordant have been living in Darling Point for the past 24 years, with almost a decade in a two-storey penthouse in the triplex developed by Ron Powell to a design by Peddle Thorp and Walker.
The abode, which cost $5.25 million in 2002, has about 245 square metres of space plus some 90 square metres of terraces.

Arts guru Simon Mordant lists redundant Darling Point penthouse: Title Tattle

The upper north shore Sydney suburb of Roseville, famous for its historic Federation-era homes, has been named as one of five Sydney unit hotspot markets by PRDnationwide. 
Roseville, 12 kilometres from the Sydney CBD in the Ku-ring-gai municipality, is just north of the transport and shopping hub of Chatswood and is now the focus of developers following controversial changes to zoning rules over the last few years. 
PRDnationwide’s NSW research analyst Oded Reuveni Etzioni, who compiled the list, notes that Roseville is a “leafy suburb which was historically dominated by detached houses, [but that] changes to zoning laws have led to the consolidation of lots into apartment complexes”. 
“These augment the existing stock of mostly older-style apartments located on both sides of the Pacific Highway. The location of Roseville near shopping and recreation destinations makes it an ideal investment in 2012 for those who seek a long-term capital appreciation,” he adds. 
However, the development and construction of new apartment projects is likely to slow down following a decision in April last year by the O’Farrell NSW state government to return full planning approval for new developments to the Ku-ring-gai council and putting an end to  the previous state government’s fast-track planning panel, which aimed to approve developments within 90 days. 
During the past five years more than 6,000 new apartments have been approved or began construction Ku-rin-gai suburbs and before the changes, residents feared up to 15,000 apartments could be built in Ku-rin-gai. 
According to PRDnationwide, Roseville has a median unit price of $546,000.
Research compiled by RP Data shows that Roseville unit prices are up 54% over the past five years to a median of $733,000, ranking it third behind Greenwich and Birchgrove for greatest capital appreciation over this period.

The other Sydney suburbs on the unit hotspot list are Abbotsford in the inner west, Kogarah in the St George region, Ryde to the north west and Balgowlah on the northern beaches.
 
According to Reuveni Etzioni, contemporary townhouses and luxury waterfront residences in Abbotsford have created upwards pressure on the median unit price complementing the existing stock of “’70s and ’80s walk-ups”.
He says a softer market over 2011 cooled the market, allowing buyers a more affordable entry point.
Kogarah’s potential as a unit hotspot is based on two key fundamentals: transport and amenities.
“Serviced by the Princes Highway and the Illawarra railway line, the suburb offers its residents easy access to Sydney, the Sutherland Shire and Wollongong. The Kogarah Town Square, located in the centre of the suburb, is a refurbished and lively shopping precinct adjacent to the train station,” says Reuveni Etzioni.
<a target="_blank" href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/new-south-wales/marrickville-beats-off-redfern-and-ryde-to-be-prdnationwides-2012-hotspot/2012020653275">PRDnationwide also picked Ryde</a> as a unit hotspot because of the suburb’s central location on the intersection of Victoria and Lane Cove roads and proximity to the employment hubs of Meadowbank and Macquarie Park.
“New development in Meadowbank will see more residential apartments being built on old industrial land and the Ryde town centre redevelopment is set to increase the amenity of area,” says Reuveni Etzioni.
Balgowlah gets the nod due to increasing retail and residential investment.
“Existing shopping facilities in Warringah Mall and Stockland Village will be complemented by a new Woolworths supermarket and Bunnings warehouse,” says Reuveni Etzioni.
“Balgowlah and surrounding suburbs have seen stock selling at higher price brackets due to new residential developments in the area. There are still opportunities in the lower price brackets for owner occupiers and investors seeking to invest in the suburb.”

Roseville headlines 2012 Sydney unit hotspots, and Ryde makes another appearance

The future of the NSW-based builder Kell &amp; Rigby is in doubt.

Finance reporter Ross Greenwood reported on his Macquarie Radio 2GB MTR 1377 Money Show that the fourth-generation family-owned construction company had ceased building today on all its sites.
“We understand it will be in [voluntary] administration tomorrow morning,” Greenwood told his listeners.
It is understood potential refinancing arrangement negotiations halted on Tuesday, and company chief James Kell advised staff it was "prudent to suspend works on site."
"When those negotations didn't continue then we had to act fairly quickly," Kell said.
"It's not over yet .. we're still talking about a way out of it, of a solution," Kell, who has been running the firm for 10 years, said.

Ross Greenwood interviewed CFMEU state secretary Brian Parker, who said the firm had seven major works projects with 500 workers.
The firm was in the headlines several years ago after fixed price construction project issues at a Rushcutters Bay site. But Kell told Greenwood that the problems surrounding a Rushcutters Bay project "had been largely isolated from the business".
“It’s a very sad day for our industry,” Parker said after speaking with the Kell &amp; Rigby management.
“And it’s a very sad state of affairs for NSW,” he added.
The family historian says the partnership started in June 1910 between two young carpenters, William James Kell, 26, and Alexander Leslie Rigby, 22, both having arrived independently from England. The original office was at 1 Elsie Street, Burwood, where Bill Kell boarded with his Aunt Beckie Freeman. It was Aunt Beckie who also tendered the phone when the partners were out on the sites.
In 1912 land was purchased in Bishop Street Burwood where a workshop and office was built and with the £200 capital each subscribed K. &amp; R. commenced growing. Initially domestic work was carried out, but more and more commercial and industrial work was undertaken. Houses built locally were in Llandilo Avenue, Torrington Road, Strathfield Avenue, Kingsland Road, Victoria Street and Wakeford Road.

Kell & Rigby, one of Australia's oldest, most respected building companies, set for voluntary administration

Consultant Jonathan Shier, the former ABC managing director and now Continental Ventures chairman, has relisted the sub-penthouse in Ikon, at Potts Point.
The 17th-floor Macleay Street unit has been listed for sale through Jason Boon and Geoff Cox from Richardson and Wrench Elizabeth Bay.
The three-bedroom pad was bought for $3.5 million in 2005 after Shier sold his Vaucluse residence for $4.4 million.
The Ikon apartment was bought from the Laing + Simmons founder turned property developer Spencer Simmons. With two large balconies it comes with over 250 sq m of indoor/outdoor entertaining space.
About $4.5 million was being sought on its initial listing in 2011 through Richardson and Wrench in conjunction with Christies International, but the initial buyer feedback was closer to $4 million.

Former ABC boss Jonathan Shier relists Potts Point sub-penthouse: Title Tattle

Diversified property group Australand expects Melbourne and Sydney buyers to continue to drive sales in its residential communities following the release of poor end-of-year figures.
Australand reported net profit of $140.62 million for the year ending December 31, 2011, a drop of 15% on net profit of $166 million in the 2010 calendar year.
Its residential division recorded earnings of $76.1 million, up 13% compared with $68 million in 2010.
The group managed total lot sales of 2,536 over the course of the year, an increase of 15% on 2010, with Melbourne and Sydney contributing 80% of buyers.
The top-performing residential development during 2011 was<a target="_blank" href="/news"> Greenhills Beach</a> in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney, where prices ranged from $795,000 for a 550-square-metre coastal lot to $980,000 for a 740-square-metre beach lot.
The other top-selling projects were Burwood (Victoria), Cranbourne West (Victoria), Clyde North (Victoria), Greenvale (Victoria), Cockburn Central (WA) and Kangaroo Point (Queensland).
The group reported that sales momentum picked up in the second half of the year following interest rate cuts and incentives from state governments
“We expect Sydney and Melbourne to contribute significantly to sales and earnings in 2012 despite some softening of conditions in Melbourne.
“Perth continues to see a gradual recovery. However, the south-east Queensland market remains challenging,” says Australand.
The group is not anticipating sales volume growth in 2012 but is forecasting higher earnings due to higher margins and higher average sales prices “driven by the mix of products we sell”.
Australand has 21,800 individual lots under management in its development pipeline with an end value of $8.1 billion.
Its $2.1 billion investment portfolio (made up of industrial and office assets) delivered earnings of $166 million, up from $161 million.
Earnings were down in its commercial and industrial division ($29 million in 2011 compared with $32 million 2010).
Overall, the group expects conditions to remain challenging for at least the first half of 2012 but is “cautiously optimistic” about its earnings in 2012.
