Celebrity Apprentice contestant, the Sydney socialite and businesswoman, Roxy Jacenko got her property grounding at a young age.
She paid $336,000 for her first property purchase in Sydney's Double Bay in 2000, aged 20 years.

The article has her reportedly as 21 at the time, but title searches and ASIC records show the savvy acquisition was just two months after turning 20.
She secured a great $750,000 on her 2009 sale of the Guilfoyle Avenue, Double Bay flat, reflecting almost 10% annual growth during her ownership.

However the owner of Sweaty Betty PR didn't ever sell her next acquisition, a Woollahra house when it was listed in mid-2011.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom house on Nelson Street had a $2.8 million vendor bid, which was topped by a $2.9 million offer through Gavin Rubinstein at Ray White Double Bay.
It had approved plans for a four-bedroom home on the 350 sq m block. She retains the property which cost $2,791,000 in 2006.
Jacenko and her wealthy husband, stockbroker Oliver Curtis spent $6.6 million in Woollahra in 2011, on the street occupied by wealthy establishment families including the millionaire philanthropist James Fairfax.
The Curtis couple secured the house from the rag-trading Karpin family through Richardson &amp; Wrench Double Bay agent James McCowan, in conjunction with Louise Snowden from Di Jones.
The then newly built house on a 468 sq m block cost $5.28 million in 2007.
She started up the pr business in 2004 with the agency now having 22 staff  with 90 clients. Even her very young daughter, Pixie has her<a href="https://pixies-pix.tumblr.com/" target="_blank"> own blog</a>.

Nothing wrong with the weekend clearance rates, but price growth is a lot harder to discern.

Indeed based on the flows of RP Data’s daily index data, the housing market over the month of April is looking softer than what was recorded over the first quarter of 2013.
Based on the rpdata-Rismark Home Value Index, national dwelling values were up 2.8% over the first three months of the year, however it now stands at around 2.1%. It is likely that when they report the indices for the month of April it will be reporting a decline. Maybe around 0.5%.
As RP Data's Cameron Kusher recently pointed out the first quarter of the year has historically been the strongest in terms of value growth.

Its a return to apartments but this time the five couples fit out five whole floor apartments.

The Watercress production company will keep the ground floor, so that all contestants will face similiar circumstances in transforming the drab 1974 <a href="https://www.expedia.com.au/Melbourne-Hotels-Biz-Motel.h3049211.Hotel-Information" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">motel</a> into a luxury apartment tower.
The Block have endeavoured to utilise the twitter hashtag #skyhigh as an early marketing tool.

The decision by the Napthine Government to scrap its first-home owner grant for established house and apartment purchases from July 1 is simply extraordinary.
They only have to look north to NSW and Queensland to see the folly of their new scheme that offers incentives only for first home buyers who make new home acquisitions.
The Victorian treasurer Michael O'Brien says ending the first home grant for established houses brought Victoria into line with other states.
And what's been their experience?
Certainly terrific one-off headlines about the importance of job creation in the housing industry...and then quite simply first home buyers have gone awol.
The decision by first home buyers in NSW actually leaves the O'Farrell Government with a budget savings windfall given the dramatically reduced take-up of new home acquistion by first time buyers.
The NSW $7 000 first home owner grant for established properties ended on 30 September 2012. The scheme established to assist first home owners instead to purchase or build a new home offers a $15 000 grant from 1 October 2012.
NSW first home grants recipients have fallen from 2631 securing $18.77 million in grants in March 2012, to this March when there was a record low 624 recipients securing just $6.77 million to assist in their purchasing.
The same experience in Queensland which ended its $7000 basic grant scheme last October, replacing it with a $15,000 grant for new homes.
With just 217 grants recorded in the December quarter, the government website argues it will take several months before the impact of the Great Start Grant (previously known as the first home owner construction grant) can be clearly assessed, allowing for the lag between signing a contract and construction to build a home.
There had been a typical 4500 recipients in prior December quarters.
Latest Queensland State Government figures show that in the six months to March 28, there were just 805 first-home owners who received a $15,000 helping hand.
Technically the Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan has abdicated his responsibility when it comes to bringing the states into line.
Last December Property Observer's senior reporter Larry Schlesinger <a target="_blank" href="/news">wrote the Federal Treasurer appeared happy to allow the state governments to break their commitment to offer “universal” first-home owner grants</a> following the decisions by the NSW and Queensland governments to only incentivise new home purchases.
These decisions, aimed at stimulating the residential construction sector, are in clear contravention of state government commitments to provide a “universal” first home owner schemes (FHOS) to all buyers".
Speaking to Property Observer in November, Ray White chairman Brian White said the new grants were distorting the market “and not in a healthy way".
“It’s no longer a first-home buyer’s grant but a builder’s incentive,” said White who labelled it deceitful to describe it as a first-home buyer’s grant.
Of course there are also plenty of commentators, like me, who'd suggest any first home buyer's grant was most likely mis-directed creating unnecessary market distortions - and creating a gift for vendors.

Ill-directed new home building first-home buyers grant scheme extended to Victoria as Wayne Swan abdicates his responsibilities

Andrew Abercrombie, the former chief executive of leasing company FlexiGroup, has bought the Toorak mansion, Edzell. He currently owns another riverfront elsewhere on St Georges Road having paid $14 million in 2007.
The April 5 deal was struck with architect Michael Spivakovsky, who’d regained the house after the former television news presenter-turned-spin doctor Simone Semmens lost control of the property that she'd initially secured with vendor finance in late 2011.
Edzell was bought in late 2011 for $11 million by Semmens with vendor finance from architect Michael Spivakovsky and his wife, Cheryl, who took security over another now-sold Semmens property, Rosecraddock, the Caulfield North mansion.
Seemens had been hoping to keep the historic 1890s Toorak riverfront Edzell while quickly selling off the waterfront block, but her plans unravelled. 
She had secured Heritage Victoria permission for the subdivision of the historic St George Road estate into two allotments, with the government department noting its "recognition of the fact that the current proprietor’s specific financial circumstances were a factor in the determination of the permit as allowed for under section 73(1)(b) of the Heritage Act 1995."
Having paid $11 million for the house and land, <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/victoria/former-tv-presenter-simone-semmens-seeks-to-offload-the-riverfront-block-at-her-grand-%2411-million-edzell-toorak-acquisition/2012062655278" target="_blank">Semmens listed an 1,800-square-metre vacant block through RT Edgar agent David Colbran</a>with unrealisable $9 million hopes.
Spivakovsky's latest sale price to Andrew Abercrombie has yet to be disclosed. Spivakorsky inherited it from his father, the acclaimed pianist Jascha.
Andrew Abercrombie, who joined the BRW Rich list in 2007 with a fortune of $379 million, became the Liberal Party's Victorian branch treasurer around 2011. His estimated net worth is now around $465 million.
Much of his wealth stems from Flexirent was conceived in 1988 when David Berkman looked at the rapid obsolescence and depreciation of fax machines. Mr Berkman, with Mr Abercrombie, formed Berkman Capital Finance, which was renamed Flexirent and went from six employees with a turnover of $2 million to $3 million a year to 55 employees and $50 million in quick time.
He is an experienced commercial and tax lawyer and was a founding partner in a legal firm operating in both Sydney and Melbourne. Following several years in property investment and tax consulting, he became involved in the Flexirent business in 1991 and until 2003 was its chief executive officer.
The heritage-protected 1890s Elizabethan Revival house was once located on 28 hectares within 1917 Walter Butler-designed gardens.
Edzell was built for the former lord mayor James Stewart shortly before his year in office.

Toorak's Edzell sells to businessman Andrew Abercrombie

A rare release of nine large parcels of residential land on the east side of the historic Retford Park, Bowral, in the Southern Highlands, has been unveiled.
Two blocks will be auctioned May 4.
The fully serviced Mansfield Road blocks are 8250 square metres and 10,000 square metres.

Following the decision among other east coast states, the Victorian first-home owner grant will increase from $7000 to $10,000 for newly constructed homes.
It takes effect from July 1, which will lead to a probable pause in the purchase of new houses and apartment over the next two months.
But there will be a rush - possibly even an unhealthy frenzy - from those first timers desirous of buying established homes as they will no longer receive the existing $7000 first home grant from July.
But all first-home buyers will benefit from fast-tracked stamp duty savings, which will increase from 30% to 40% on homes valued up to $600,000, six months ahead of schedule. It is part of the Liberal government's pre-election pledged to reduce stamp duty by 50% over four years with the final 10% reduction scheduled for September 2014.
The combination of a $10,000 First Home Owner Grant and stamp-duty cut means a $16,500 saving on a $400,000 new property.
"The average price of a newly constructed first home is about $400,000," Victorian Treasurer Michael O'Brien said yesterday.
Michael O'Brien forecast the decision would help create more jobs in the housing sector. The Victorian budget on May 7 will be the first under the new Premier Denis Napthine.
"Targeting the grant to newly constructed homes - whether in regional Victoria, Melbourne's growth corridors or new CBD apartments - will stimulate the economy and create jobs in the construction sector," Mr O'Brien said.
But Melbourne buyers agent Frank Valentic says it was "bad news" given the 80% of first home buyers who buy established property will no longer get $7000 grant from July 2013.
Mr O'Brien said ending the first home grant for established houses brought Victoria into line with other states.
The Herald Sun reported the Master Builders Association of Victoria executive director Brian Welch saying increasing the grants would encourage people to consider building sooner.
"The industry's been in decline for the last couple of years, so this will give us a welcome boost," he said.
But the Real Estate Institute of Victoria's chief executive Enzo Raimondo says the changes mean those purchasing existing homes will be subsidising a discount for those buying newly constructed homes.
"History has shown first home buyers generally buy established [homes]," Mr Raimondo told the ABC.
"They generally want to buy close to where they work, and in Melbourne that's inner and middle suburbs, so this is going to make it a bit more difficult for first-home buyers of established properties in Melbourne."
The Victorian decision follows NSW where first home buyers have gone awol, leaving the O'Farrell Government with a budget savings windfall given the dramatically reduced take-up of new home acquistion by first time buyers.
Victorian first home buyers have been relatively steady over the past year with established home purchasers. Last month there were 1714 Victorian recipients securing $11.99 million in grants for established homes. There were 1652 in March last year.
For new home acquisitions there were 856 recipients in Victoria securing $5.99 in grants last March compared with 814 securing $5.69 million in grants in March 2013.

The FHOG (New Homes) grant will reduce to $10,000 on 1 January 2014.

Launched in October 2012 as the First Home Owners Construction Grant, the funds are now only available to build or buy a new house, townhouse or apartment valued at less than $750,000.
It replaced the decade-old First Home Owners Grant, which had been available for the purchase of new or existing properties in Queensland.
The Brisbane Courier Mail recently reported the Real Estate Institute of Queensland CEO Anton Kardash said the Government had pulled the wrong lever as he had predicted.
"They persisted, and unfortunately the data is coming back as we predicted - and that is people are not transitioning to buying new homes with these grants.''
The REIQ suggested new homes are usually too expensive for first-time buyers and are often in outlying suburbs where young people do not necessarily want to live.

Victorian first home buyers grant jumps from $7000 to $10,000 but only for new houses and apartments

The recent spate of trophy house sales confirmed that Australia's residential property market was beginning its bounce back to peak levels, the LJ Hooker chairman Janusz Hooker told today's Channel Ten's Meet The Press.

"When you start seeing trophy sales, like you start seeing recently in the $20 to $30 million range happen, it means the ... super luxury and holiday end of the market is on the move, and this doesn't happen unless the core markets are doing very well," Janusz Hooker told the panel which included The Daily Telegraph's property writer, Kirsten Craze.
"If you see in an Australian context the big players moving in and starting to buy again it means they're confident and that confidence is a good example of that showing right through to all of the markets."
He said confidence in the property market fell much further than it should have, and was now coming back to more normal levels.

Mr Hooker said overseas investors were now looking to Australia as a stable market in which to invest in real estate.
"If you look at the Australian property market throughout the global financial crisis, our property market performed better than any other developed nation on the planet," he said.
"(Foreign investors are) feeling a little more confidence with their domestic portfolios, and they're looking at the Australian market going 'it's been doing quite well, it's been moving the last quarter and now we start seeing a trend going upwards'."
Mr Hooker suggested that Sydney was the first capital city set to experience the uplift with sales back up to peak 2010 levels, followed then by Canberra and Perth.
It was suggested that Brisbane was the slowest capital city to recover at around 10% off peak levels, along with Melbourne, Darwin, Adelaide and Hobart also yet to regain previous price peaks.
"It's those major metros that still have quite a bit of recovery, between five to 10% to do, but that provides an opportunity because there's still deals to be done there that are below their peaks," Mr Hooker told viewers.
SQM property research director Louis Christopher told the program that the property recovery was real, but it was not nationwide.
Louis Christopher also warned of "dodgy" auction statistics.

Confidence in the property market fell much further than it should have, Janusz Hooker tells Meet the Press

Camelot, the grandest house near Camden on Sydney's outskirts, was the location for filming of the latest Channel 7 drama series, A Place to Call Home.

Set among rolling green pastures with well-established cottage-style gardens, and a winding, tree-lined drive from gates originally from Yaralla, Concord, the historic Narellan mansion was built in 1888 for the White pastoralist family.

It's known as Ash Park in the series. Until the latest Bevan Lee creation - the writer and executive best known for creating the TV dramas Packed to the Rafters and Winner &amp; Losers - Title Tattle hadn't seen Camelot since its late 1990s mortgagee marketing campaigns which came after dramatic 1996 eviction proceedings.

But the 55-room fairytale-like, Camelot and its gardens have clearly been stunningly restored by the owners, Brendan and Rachel Powers. The property has actually only had four owners with it last selling in 1999 for $2.6 million.

It's a John Horbury Hunt-designed three-storey 1888 house, originally known as Kirkham when built for the Hon James White, which got its current name from Frances Faithful-Anderson, who, on seeing the property in 1900, was reminded of the opening verse of Tennyson's The Lady of Shalott.

On either side by river lie

And thro' the field the road runs by

To many tower'd Camelot.

James White built it, cashed up from his winnings from Chester, his racehorse which had 19 wins - including the 1877 Melbourne Cup and VRC Derby - from 29 starts.

White was the grand-uncle of author Patrick White. with the family's best known property association still to this day, being with Belltrees in the upper Hunter Valley. In 1848 James leased Belltrees, in partnership with brothers Francis and George, which they purchased in 1853.

In around 1860 James White bought Martindale, near Muswellbrook, where he was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the Upper Hunter with his main political interests being railway expansion, taxes on luxuries and an interest in free selection.  
His first association with architect John Horbury Hunt was in about 1873 when Hunt carried out large scale extensions to newly purchased Cranbrook, Rose Bay. Hunt was invited in 1888 to build him a "rural seat" at the Kirkham holding, but died at Cranbrook in 1890, perhaps never having lived in Hunt's creation at Kirkham.

The 33-hectare grounds include classic examples of Horbury Hunt's clay-brick specialty including a beehive-shaped smoke house, an octagonal aviary and large ornate stable block, with hammer-arched roofing, which featured as Lady Ashley's stables in the Baz Luhrmann film, Australia.

Title Tattle recalls even the garden beds are quiet intricate as White, the mad-keen gambler, shaped then as heart, club, diamond and spade.

NSW Heritage says another usual feature of Camelot is the main staircase with its landing projecting beyond the external wall and forms the base of a semicircular tower, terminating in a candle-snuffer roof, complete with finial.

It's been a house that every so often comes to public attention as in 1981 the Supreme Court's Justice Rath determined the 1938 will of Mrs Faithful-Anderson took precedence over her daughter, Clarice who willed Camelot to the NSW National Trust.

As that 1938 bequest - with Camelot desired to become a convalescent home after Clarice's death - clashed with council zonings the property was sold in 1985 to John Neal, a retired coalminer and Wallacia pub owner, for $1.3 million.

But Neal evisaging a convention centre with restoration funds coming from a subdivision, did not actually proceed to settlement.

It was subsequently bought by Michael Howarth, the New Zealand-born cattle breeder, and Artes Studio founder, who paid more than $2 million in 1986.

In 1994 as a result of a costly 1980s cattle leasing tax minimisation scheme, the entrepreneur was briefly bankrupted owing $741,983 to his creditor, the State Bank of South Australia subsidiary, Mortgage Acceptance. But the court was told his debts totalled about $7 million with his major asset, Camelot through complicated trust arrangements. Quickly discharged from bankruptcy, Howarth was, however, unable to hold off the sale by receiver Anthony Sims.

The six-bedroom mansion was once described by critic Leo Schofield as the best house John Horbury Hunt ever designed.

Even its bathrooms impressed Leo, Title Tattle recalls: "One has a tub the size of a gunboat, wonderful tiles and a shower like an upturned tin tiara," he wrote.

The interiors feature stained glass by Lyons, Wells, Cottier &amp; Co.

Camelot stands on the site of explorer John Oxley's Kirkham Mill after an 1810 land grant.

Camelot at Camden is captivating as A Place to Call Home location on Channel 7's new 1950s drama series

The sale of three adjoining terraces on the exclusive St Vincent Place in Albert Park has yielded $12,278,000 over the past three weekends, a 21.5% jump on their sale in-one-line five years ago.
The most recent sale was $4,008,000 yesterday.
The highest priced three-bedroom terrace fetched $4.3 million on April 13 comprising a 492-square-metre block and with no bathroom, is a renovator's opportunity.

The three recent sales should not be interpreted as prices haveing risen by 21% as there would have been a limited number of buyers when offered in one line, so the prices are not necessarily comparable.
The offerings was originally part of a three-terrace property owned by the Loreto Sisters, who bought them in 1969.
They sold them in 2008 when acquired by Fiona Olney-Fraser, wife of corporate raider Darren Olney-Fraser, for $10.1 million, who then split the property up into three empty shells.
The sister's departure in mid-2008 marked an end to over 100 years of involvement in the South Melbourne/Albert Park parish by the Catholic religious order.
Having arrived in Australia in 1875, the Loreto Sisters’ work began in 1888 in a small school in a rented house in Merton Crescent called Mononia. 
By the end of 1889 the sisters were looking for another site and land was purchased in Albert Road. While the three storey convent and school was being built, the Sisters lived at 51 Cantebury Road, Albert Park.
The Albert Road Convent and school opened in late 1890 and in 1906 the Central Catholic Training College was opened on the same site.  Both continued until 1924 when most of the students and Sisters moved to establish Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak. 
The triple fronted property, Loreto House, at 73 -77 St Vincent Place, was bought by the Loreto Sisters in 1969 having previously been a Christian Brothers Boys' Hostel which closed in 1967. An 1880s timber cottage that has survived Kangaroo Point's transformation from riverside suburb to high-density apartment precinct is set to become the centrepiece of <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/zephyr">Zephyr Group</a>'s proposed Banksia development.

Rather than see the locally heritage-listed Alpha Cottage as an obstacle to navigate, plans integrate the landmark home into a new 18-storey residential tower, giving one of the suburb's oldest surviving residences a new role as the project's communal hub.

The development application covers a 1,177 sqm amalgamated site at 127-133 Lambert Street and 30 Shafston Avenue, where Zephyr Group plans to deliver 64 apartments above three basement levels. The heritage component is the defining feature of the proposal. Constructed in the early 1880s and occupied from at least 1883, Alpha Cottage is recognised by Brisbane City Council as an important surviving example of Kangaroo Point's nineteenth-century residential development and as a representative transverse-gable timber cottage. Despite extensive redevelopment across the peninsula, the building has retained a high degree of its original form and internal fabric.

As part of the redevelopment, the cottage will be carefully relocated a short distance within its original allotment to facilitate construction before being returned to a prominent position along Lambert Street. Original verandah elements will be dismantled, catalogued and reinstated, while significant internal features, including timber flooring, wall linings, joinery, doors, windows and hardware, will be retained. Later additions, including the enclosed rear verandah, will be removed to better reveal the building's original form.

Once restored, Alpha Cottage will accommodate the building manager's office, mail room and parcel facilities, providing an active everyday use that supports its long-term conservation rather than preserving it as a static display. The heritage strategy also maintains landscaped space around the building, allowing it to remain visually distinct beneath the new tower.

Joe Adsett Architects have designed the tower to sit above the heritage building rather than overwhelm it, creating a clear visual separation between old and new. The development's flowing balconies, integrated planting and organic façade respond to Brisbane's subtropical climate while complementing the restored cottage below.
