The enormity of delivering a true skyscraper in Australia's new development market is often overlooked.

It has taken the best part of a decade since plans for Chevron One were first unveiled, but the 52-storey tower is now complete, with residents collecting their keys and moving into what has become one of the Gold Coast's most recognisable new landmarks.

Rising 127 metres above Chevron Island, Chevron One stands almost twice as high as any other building on the island. Its scale places it alongside the trio of towers at Jewel, arguably the last truly significant addition to the central Gold Coast skyline when they were completed around six years ago.

While there are several developments underway around a similar height to Chevron One, they are more concentrated within clusters of the highest towers in the city. The fact Chevron One sits within a developing precinct, looking back at the other high-rise developments in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, makes it a different proposition altogether. It will certainly become a reference point on the Gold Coast skyline.

Developer Bensons Property Group is behind the 52-storey tower, which has just shy of 250 apartments, along with an exhaustive list of resident amenity spread across what is the largest development site ever assembled on Chevron Island.

The tower has been the talk of the town for years, says Ray White Projects Gold Coast agent Caitlin Rosenboom, who is selling the remaining apartments.

"People have been watching Chevron One go up for years," Rosenboom says, adding that many prospective buyers have been surprised by the scale of the views once they step inside.

"It's only when they walk through a completed apartment that they truly understand the position of the building," Rosenboom says.

"The views are jaw-dropping. Whether you're looking east over the ocean, across Surfers Paradise, along the river systems or out to the hinterland, every level offers something different but equally impressive."

One of Chevron One's defining advantages is its location on the eastern side of Chevron Island on Stanhill Drive, a position which protects the views forever.

While new apartment developments continue to emerge across the Gold Coast, Rosenboom says opportunities to secure a completed apartment with this level of outlook are becoming increasingly rare.

"The size of the site is something that would be incredibly difficult to replicate today," she says.

"That's allowed Chevron One to deliver the sort of amenity, open space and resident facilities that very few projects can offer. There are not many completed apartment buildings on the Gold Coast right now that can compete with the combination of scale, quality and amenity."

There's around 2,000 sqm of amenity solely for the use of residents of Chevron One. Club One features a uniquely shaped swimming pool that mirrors the footprint of the building itself, set within a extensively landscaped gardens. There's also an indoor pool and spa, a fully equipped gym with a Pilates room, a yoga garden, a bookable private dining area and lounge that can host up to 30 people, and a 24-hour concierge service.

As for the buyers, Rosenboom is fielding enquiry from everywhere: Sydneysiders and Melburnians looking at the new and off-the-plan market following the changes in the Federal Budget, as well as those looking to relocate, through to South East Queenslanders seeking either a permanent home or a weekender bolthole.

Craig van der Laan, the chief of Barangaroo Delivery Authority, and his wife Liesl have had another big weekend. Their Lindfield home sold at McConnell Bourn auction last weekend.
The couple bought<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-lindfield-120461861" target="_blank"> the five bedroom 1905 Federation residence </a>in 2004 for $3 million. The home sits in extraordinary Peter Fudge French parterre gardens on its 1400 square metre Middle Harbour Road block.

Canada has sold its consul-general’s ­residence in pricey Vaucluse, the one with the heritage-listed light beacon dating back to the 1880s in its front yard. 
More than $9.5 million was the initial price tag, then selling agents, the French Canadian Jeannine Yates and Ray White Double Bay colleague Elliott Placks were telling buyers more than $10 million.
It sold to a local young family. 
Canada’s consul-general’s residence on Wentworth Road was bought back in the mid-1960s for £35,000. It comes with a maple leaf in the tiled pool. 
It was listed after the Canadian government ruled that official expats must downsize.

The Nagambie property is reported by the Australian Financial Review to have fetched more than $10 million.
Amanda Elliott nee Bayles – John Elliott’s second ex-wife – was one of four beneficiaries to inherit the 946-hectare northern Victoria holding from her late father, former VRC vice chairman Ian Bayles.
Pat Race &amp; Hawkins agent Peter Hawkins represented the family for the sale of 297 Mitchellstown Road, Tabilk.
Chatsworth Park has always had a thoroughbred history with James Redfern in 1890, a known horse enthusiast, owning the property with 1891 Melbourne Cup Winner, Malvalio buried there.
The 1893 Melbourne Cup winner, Tarcoola was also bred on this historic property.
Chatsworth Park was then owned by L.K.S. Mackinnon, a known racing owner and administrator who had the time honored LKS Mackinnon Stakes being named after him, one of Australasia's famous Group One events. 
In 1933, grazier and wool industry leader, Douglas Boyd purchased Chatsworth Park and built the homestead in 1936 with the assistance of the eminent Melbourne architect Robert Hamilton in the Tudor revival style.

LJ Hooker listing agent David Edwards is telling buyers to expect $5 million plus at its September 3 auction.
Recent court proceedings heard the property had been valued at $4.8 million, which secured borrowings of some $5.8 million, with interest accruing at $36,000 per month.
The beachfront 1127 Barrenjoey Road property last traded with as yet unrealised development plans by architects Tobias Partners.
Overlooking the waters of Snapperman Beach, the property has title to the sand.
Weaver sold Koombahla to Chris and Amanda Athas of Surfection in 2005 for $5.9 million. Weaver had wanted about $7 million for his resort-like Koombahla, the Bynya Road 2400sqm hillside holding with a six-bedroom Michael Robilliard-designed house.
Morten Weaver was a longtime director of the Australian venture capital firm, Allaway Hawker Williams.
Prior to joining Allaway Hawker Williams he was part of the Silicon Valley start up team that took CBT Systems to a $2 billion NASDAQ listing in 1995.
He has given his most recent address as Chatswood in his bankruptcy paperwork to Nicholas Malanos at Worrells. He gives his occupation as unemployed.
He has also lived in Tasmania's northern midlands.

Melbourne's residential and retail development Capital Grand South Yarra, on the corner of Chapen Street and Toorak Road, has sold $100 million worth of property contracts in the first ten days of sale.
Capital Grand South Yarra will feature two towers linked by a retail area. The trophy LK tower will have 50 storeys and private entrance. The smaller Capital Grand Tower will front Toorak Road.

Capital Grand South Yarra strikes $100 million sales

Pharmacists Gary and Mary Smoker have relisted their Mosman trophy home, Ardagh.
It had initial $15 million hopes through Brendan Warner of Raine &amp; Horne Mosman, but is now listed through Richard Harding at LJ Hooker who says there had been only five owners in a rich 110 year history, "truly one of the North Shore's finest family estates."
<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-mosman-119904045" target="_blank">Set on 2700 square metres</a>, the seven-bedroom Federation mansion with pool and tennis court was built in 1905.
In 1922 it was bought by former British trade commissioner John Adamsand his wife Gwynneth who sold it in 1964 to pianist John Champ.
Smoker, a former Mosman alderman, bought the Prince Albert Street property in 1993 for $1.7 million.
