The enormity of delivering a true skyscraper in Australia's new development market is often overlooked.

It has taken the best part of a decade since plans for Chevron One were first unveiled, but the 52-storey tower is now complete, with residents collecting their keys and moving into what has become one of the Gold Coast's most recognisable new landmarks.

Rising 127 metres above Chevron Island, Chevron One stands almost twice as high as any other building on the island. Its scale places it alongside the trio of towers at Jewel, arguably the last truly significant addition to the central Gold Coast skyline when they were completed around six years ago.

While there are several developments underway around a similar height to Chevron One, they are more concentrated within clusters of the highest towers in the city. The fact Chevron One sits within a developing precinct, looking back at the other high-rise developments in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, makes it a different proposition altogether. Developer Bensons Property Group is behind the 52-storey tower, which has just shy of 250 apartments, along with an exhaustive list of resident amenity spread across what is the largest development site ever assembled on Chevron Island.

The tower has been the talk of the town for years, says Ray White Projects Gold Coast agent Caitlin Rosenboom, who is selling the remaining apartments.

"People have been watching Chevron One go up for years," Rosenboom says, adding that many prospective buyers have been surprised by the scale of the views once they step inside.

"It's only when they walk through a completed apartment that they truly understand the position of the building," Rosenboom says.

"The views are jaw-dropping. Whether you're looking east over the ocean, across Surfers Paradise, along the river systems or out to the hinterland, every level offers something different but equally impressive."

One of Chevron One's defining advantages is its location on the eastern side of Chevron Island on Stanhill Drive, a position which protects the views forever.

While new apartment developments continue to emerge across the Gold Coast, Rosenboom says opportunities to secure a completed apartment with this level of outlook are becoming increasingly rare.

"The size of the site is something that would be incredibly difficult to replicate today," she says.

"That's allowed Chevron One to deliver the sort of amenity, open space and resident facilities that very few projects can offer. There are not many completed apartment buildings on the Gold Coast right now that can compete with the combination of scale, quality and amenity."

There's around 2,000 sqm of amenity solely for the use of residents of Chevron One. Club One features a uniquely shaped swimming pool that mirrors the footprint of the building itself, set within a extensively landscaped gardens. There's also an indoor pool and spa, a fully equipped gym with a Pilates room, a yoga garden, a bookable private dining area and lounge that can host up to 30 people, and a 24-hour concierge service.

Cremorne record sale by investment banker atop week's most expensive sales

Moelis managing director Andrew Martin and his wife Kate secured around $7.5 million for their Darling Point home last weekend through McGrath agent Ben Collier.
The couple paid $825,000 for the freestanding 1900's home and added a heated swimming pool.
The 525 sqm property has five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The Martins are off to Paddington having paid around $10.5 million for the the converted furniture emporium sold by billionaire tech entreprenuer Mike Cannon-Brookes and wife, Annie late last year. 
Andrew has over 20 years of experience globally including roles at UBS and with Rothschild.

Builder Marco Rossi, founder of Built, and partner, Stephanie Stokes are set to emerge as the buyers of the 1920s Bellevue Hill estate, Yoorami.
The 2900 sqm property has been sold by the veteran yachtie Matt Allen for around $15.25 million having been on the market for two years before its recent Ray White sale.
Allen is now on the Darling Point waterfront after paying $32 million in 2013 for the home of the late industrialist Sir William Tyree. 
Yoorami was restored by architect Michael Suttor with interiors by Thomas Hamel, after it was purchased for $5.65 million in 1996 from barrister Geraldine Vandeleur, wife of silk Charles Sweeney.

Built's Marco Rossi buys Bellevue Hill Yoorami estate

CoreLogic RP Data's weekly update shows the biggest sale of last week came from Double Bay.
It was <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-nsw-double+bay-121296482" target="_blank">9/45 Cross Street</a> which fetched $4 million after previously being 2014 rental at $2,200 per week (below).
It came up for sale with $4.2 million hopes in mid-2015.

Located in 'the Gallery' and marketed as a prominent cosmopolitan residence by selling agents Tom Murray and Julian Hasemer of 1st City, the three bedroom apartment featured a large north facing terrace.
Last traded for $3.7 million in 2009, the architecturally designed apartment features a streamlined gourmet kitchen, a separate family room with terrace and a master suite with terrace.
The apartment block has a communal gym, spa, sauna and heated lap pool.
The next dearest national sale was a five bedroom house in Seaforth (below).

They secured a $3.16 million sale despite hoping for $3.25 million when it was first listed over two months ago.
Previously traded for $1.45 million in 2000 and set on 927 sqm, the architecturally designed home features a barbecue alfresco area which overlooks designer gardens and a heated pool.
The house comes with self-contained accommodation with a private entry, something Ian Fox advertised as the 'in-law accommodation'.

The chairman of the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse cancer centre, company director Doug Snedden and his wife Belinda Clark have sold in Warrawee, seemingly securing their desire of more than $5 million.
The 1930s home designed in the stockbroker tudor style by architect John Brogan had been bought by the couple in 1999 for $2,325,000 from the ASX chairman Roderick Holliday-Smith and his wife Margaret.
Scott Chadwick, of Chadwicks Real Estate, sold the <a href="https://chadwickrealestate.com.au/5259657/5-Pibrac-Avenue-Warrawee" target="_blank">1800 sqm Pibrac Avenue property</a> that comes with tennis court and pool.
Professor Chris O'Brien was a surgeon who achieved national recognition as a compassionate surgeon in the reality television series RPA.
His vision and leadership built the foundation for the O'Brien Lifehouse institute specialising in the treatment of cancer.
O'Brien, diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2006, fought the illness until he passed away in 2009.
His wife Gail continues to play a key role in supporting her husband's vision for Australia to have its own world-class comprehensive cancer care facility.
Gail recently sold the family home in Hunters Hill through Narelle Scott at Bresic Whitney who offered the listing with $4.5 million price guidance.

Stockbroker Tudor Warrawee trophy sale

It was Lizanne's $150,000 knockout bid which secured the Gunnis family, renovated Victorian era Italianate villa at auction <a href="https://www.propertyobserver.com.au/https://www.mcgrath.com.au/buy/house-elizabeth-bay-nsw-2011/229262" target="_blank">through McGrath agent Ben Collier</a>.
Julian Knights, founding partner of private equity group Ironbridge, have meanwhile sold their Macleay Street apartment off-market through Jason Boon at Richardson &amp; Wrench for $8 million.
The three bedroom, three bathroom Villard apartment had been bought in 2011 for $6.17 million when sold by the late car dealer Ray Lintott and his wife Penny, who had paid $7.4 million in 2008.
Villard was Ercole Palazetti's grand Parisian inspired 19 apartment block on Macleay Street.
