Builder-developer ALAND has drawn back the curtain on its first city-focused new apartment development.

The North Sydney development, <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-walden-north-sydney-173-179-walker-street-north-sydney-nsw-2060">The Walden</a>, is the first time the company has ventured this close to the city, having previously completed thousands of apartments predominantly in Sydney's west, and more recently in Gosford.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/aland">ALAND</a> acquired the prime North Sydney site, spanning Walker and Hampden Streets just down the road from the Victoria Cross Metro station, for $240 million in June.

Now they've unveiled the new project, a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments across a 30-level building designed by Rothelowman.

The Walden will capitalise on the site’s front-row position on the eastern fringe of the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/north-sydney-nsw-2060">North Sydney</a> CBD, which offers uninterrupted Sydney Harbour views stretching from the Sydney Harbour Bridge all the way to Sydney Heads.

The main tower will be flanked by a small four-level amenity building known as The Pavilion, offering exclusive resident-only amenities including a dedicated concierge service, a sauna and private wellness studio, a gymnasium and fitness studio, a resort-style rooftop pool and sundeck.

There will also be a&nbsp;residents’ lounge, private dining and a wine cellar, and co-working facilities with an on-site meeting room and boardroom.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/toga-group">TOGA</a> has opened sales for the final building in Macquarie Rise, its latest mixed-use development in Macquarie Park.

Since launching its <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/macquarie-rise-122-herring-road-macquarie-park-nsw-2113">Macquarie Rise</a> in late 2023, TOGA has secured over 125 sales in the Herring Road development, to a range of purchasers, from first home buyers to investors and downsizers. Sunshine Coast-based <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/devcon-property-group">Devcon Property Group</a> has acquired one of Maroochydore’s most prominent development sites for $12 million unlocking the potentialfor a mixed-use project in the Cotton Tree precinct.

&nbsp;

The 4,178 sqm site at 41–43 Aerodrome Road—well known locally as the former home to one of Australia’s last Sizzler restaurants—was sold via an off-market expressions of interest campaign by Colliers agents Nick Dowling and Baydn Dodds. More than 70 targeted buyer groups were approached, resulting in multiple competitive offers for the property.

Devcon Property Group Managing Director Michael Kain said the acquisition was a strategic move in line with the company’s focus on delivering high-quality projects in prime coastal locations.&nbsp;

Mirvac will&nbsp;release the next two buildings in their Willoughby masterplan, NINE&nbsp;by Mirvac, later this month.

The two buildings, Montage and Overture, has already secured a number of sales following&nbsp;a successful VIP release late last year.

Overture&nbsp;is set alongside Laurina Square, one of several green spaces within NINE by Mirvac. There are 55 apartments across the eight-level building, predominantly two and three-bedroom apartments.

Mirvac to release two new buildings in NINE by Mirvac development in Willoughby

Nine has increased the office space they are leasing in 1 Denison, securing a 25,000 sqm lease for 12 years, which sees it set to share offices with their Fairfax colleagues.
The landmark $1.2 billion commercial office building is the tallest tower in North Sydney.
Its original lease has been increased from 18,500 sqm with the goal of bringing together all of its key Sydney divisions into one office.
The new lease comprises a ground floor reception and studio plus 13 floors from level G to nine in the low-rise and 19 to 22 in the mid-rise with floor plates ranging from 1,650 sqm to 2,517 sqm.
Nine will soon commence their fit-out, designed by Bates Smart Architects and will stage their relocation from the second half of 2020.
Print journalists from the Pyrmont-based mastheads such as The Australian Financial Review and The Sydney Morning Herald will be moving to the site, in with the television operations.
Fairfax has been at Pyrmont since 2006 when former chairman Ron Walker negotiated a deal to take the Darling Island Road space.
Scott Soutar, Nine’s Group Head of Property said Nine was "very pleased" to extend their space.

Multiplex is currently constructing the project with completion expected by the second half of 2020.

Nine expands lease in 1 Denison, North Sydney's tallest tower

Antony Catalano has succeeded in his bid to buy the regional newspaper assets which formerly belonged to Fairfax from its new proprietor, Nine Entertainment.
Australian Community Media's portfolio of 160 regional titles includes The Newcastle Herald, the Illawarra Mercury and The Border Mail. The deal also includes 130 community-based websites with property advertising.
The deal struck is with Catalano and Thorney Investment Group, the ASX listed investment company headed by Alex Waislitz.
It marks a return to the media industry for the former Domain chief executive Antony Catalano.
Nine's redundant regional news business includes regional and community titles such as Horse Deals, Cotton &amp; Grain Outlook, Lotfeeding, Collie Mail, Wee Waa News, the Goondiwindi Advocate, Queensland Country Life, Macleay Valley Happynings (published every Wednesday) and the Dubbo Mailbox Shopper.
There's also The Byron Shire Echo where Catalano has property interests.
Nine retains 59 per cent of Domain.
Hugh Marks, the CEO of Nine, said the sale is in line with their strategy.

“The sale of ACM is aligned with our strategy to exit non-core businesses and to focus on Nine’s portfolio of high-growth, digital assets," Marks said.

Nine has announced cash proceeds from the sale are expected to be around $115 million, of which $10 million will be paid in 12 months.
Nine will also receive up to $10 million of advertising over the three years from completion.
The deal is expected to be completed by June 30.
Nine signalled it would sell the regional titles following its merger with Fairfax Media, which Catalano forlornly attempted to block at the last minute by proposing to buy a 19.9 percent share of the publisher.
Marks also says it’s continuing with talks to sell another two arms of its business, Stuff and Events.
