Developers to circle prime Darling Point apartment development site
One Darling Point, the much talked about project on the corner of New South Head Road and Darling Point Road, is set for a new owner.
International development company Anka Property, directed by Andrew and Vera Boyarsky, have long been in discussion with the Woollahra Council for the 1,748 sqm site at 136-148 New South Head Road, opposite the Edgecliff Centre and Edgecliff Station.
Despite initially being refused by the council back in 2021, they backflipped on the design earlier this year, paving the way for the tower which is nearly four times the area height limited.
The 12-level building is expected to home around 40 apartments, the majority two and three-beds.
Group CSA said in the initial Urban Design Report that the site’s access to the Edgecliff public transport interchange and proximity to the Sydney CBD makes it a good location for promoting transit-oriented development (TOD), supported by well-designed public spaces and a vibrant local economy.
"The site location responds to 30-minute city established by the Greater Sydney Commission and can leverage nearby natural environments and proximity to infrastructure as potential opportunities in the design response," the report read.
"The vision of the metropolis of three cities seeks to further increase Edgecliff’s role as a key transport interchange. This direction is therefore likely to impact on Edgecliff’s strategic position in the future."
Colliers and CBRE are both marketing the site.
