Keith Wilton had spent years living in a house in East Maitland before deciding it was time for a change. Apartment living had always been on his radar, but he was selective about what he wanted.

For Aimee and Lyle Goodman, the journey started almost by chance.

"We were aware GWH was planning a development," Aimee says. "We made one phone call and things moved pretty quickly after that."

"We actually catch up more as a family now," Aimee says.

The judging submission also highlighted practical innovations throughout the building, including lift cores servicing only nine homes each, a central landscaped lightcourt designed to bring daylight and ventilation into the building, and fully enclosed private storage rooms with lighting, power and shelving to better accommodate residents transitioning from larger family homes.

The Gold Award for Interior Design recognised the project's focus on long-term liveability rather than display-home aesthetics.

According to the awards submission, the interiors were designed from the inside out, prioritising how homes would function over decades of daily use through generous proportions, practical storage, durable natural materials and flexible layouts.

The specification includes natural stone throughout, upgraded acoustic glazing, V-ZUG appliances and fully enclosed storage rooms, alongside an amenity offering focused on wellness, entertainment and everyday convenience.&nbsp;

The apartment price gap drawing Sydney buyers west

A luxury beachfront apartment at Rainbow Bay has more than doubled in value since it sold off the plan six years ago, setting a new local apartment record in the process.

The three-bedroom apartment in the Flow development on Petrie Street, the first of four new projects locally by Paul Gedoun's S&amp;S Projects, has sold for $7.4 million, after originally selling for $3.27 million when the project launched in 2020.

The seventh-floor apartment, comprising 187 sqm of internal living space and a 54 sqm balcony overlooking Froggies Beach and Snapper Rocks, was purchased by a local family.

The transaction was negotiated by Pezet Matheson director Kerry Pezet and equates to more than $30,000 per sqm.

Pezet said the sale reflected the limited opportunities to buy into the boutique beachfront development.

"The sale highlights the rarity of opportunities within the boutique beachfront development, where residences seldom become available," Pezet said.

"Flow is one of the Gold Coast's most tightly held buildings. Buyers from our database move quickly when residences become available, and achieving an off-market sale at $7.4 million demonstrates the depth of demand for property of this calibre."

Damon Kitney, who is set to launch The Price of Fortune: The untold story of being James Packer, published by HarperCollins, wrote Packer decided at the end of June to buy a property in Los Angeles, which for the past five years has been home to his second wife, Erica Packer, and their children Indigo, Jackson and Emmanuelle.
“I just want to say what an incredible job Erica is doing bringing them up,” Mr Packer said in an interview with The Weekend Australian last October.
“I always thought she’d be a good mother and she is proving that every day … LA is a really terrific place for them to be. There is a lot of positive energy, a lot of positive affirmation there. And there is not the Packer ­fishbowl that there would have been in Sydney. They have anonymity there that they don’t have in Sydney. That is really healthy for them.”

He previously has rented the guesthouse of movie legend Warren Beatty on the storied Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills.
He divides his time between the home he shares with Ms Packer in Aspen, his polo ranch in Argentina and a resort villa in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Packer’s purchase of the new Beverly Hills home will be funded by the sale of EJI — the first initials of his three children — for which he reportedly has been asking $65.7 million, and by the sale of his Bondi Beach apartment.
Kitney wrote in The Australian that Packer has no immediate plans to resume doing business in Hollywood.

The property at 44 Fitzwilliam Street property fetched $1.47 million.
Sam Guo of Ray White said the property was targeted at both the Australian and Chinese market.
It was advertised through Chinese social media and newspapers.
“The home was listed with another agent previously but didn’t sell as it was overpriced,” Guo said.
"Both parties were very happy with the outcome.”
He suggested the Gold Coast market is very stable, and any good, well priced property in a great area will sell.

Washington Street, Toorak penthouse sold for $16 million plus

Sunnyside, a 46-hectare property at Main Ridge, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula has been sold at private auction for $10,175,000. 
It was sold by Wilson &amp; Hemphill Pty Ltd through Rob Curtain at Peninsula Sotheby's International Realty. 
It was the home of Hemphill's Apple Juices for 100 years with views of rolling hills, Western Port Bay and out to Philip Island.
Around $8 million had been tipped for the 46 hectares with two 1920s houses.
It was a telephone auction that went for over five hours with three bidders.
Two wanted it for lifestyle purposes and the other to expand their current winery business. 
The Australian Financial Review reported records show the buyer was Vodafone Australia founder Philip Cornish. 
The telecommunications investor Philip Cornish recently <a href="/news/record-38-8-million-toorak-sale-to-ruslan-kogan">sold his Toorak home</a> to Kogan.com founder and chief executive Ruslan Kogan.

The last sale price for the holding was $920,000 was some five years ago.

The master bedroom, in the five bedroom two bathroom home, opens to a private terrace and landscaped water garden with goldfish swimming under mini waterfalls near a 20 metre infinity edge swimming pool.
A historic cottage is also located on the property set in its own private paddock.

Sanaa in the Noosa Hinterland has sold

It's been a busy time at the top end of Palmie.
VGI Partners' Robert Luciano has been pinpointed as the mystery buyer of a newly built holiday home in Sydney's Palm Beach.
It was the Ocean Road townhouse style project of Hardie Grant chairman John Gerahty and wife Patricia.
It was listed with high hopes despite not having the land size of its near record setters.
The Manly Daily initially speculated the sale price was "around $20 million". The Australian Financial Review suggests $18 million although there is yet to be any available official documentation. Domain advised it was $19 million, having previously advised while an official guide was not released, buyers were expect to pay close to $22 million.
Luciano already has a weekender on Florida Road which he purchased for $3.3 million.
It has reportedly now been listed for sale with LJ Hooker and Christie's. Luciano, formerly of Caledonia Investments, started VGI Partners in 2008.
With a handy six car spaces, the Gerahty's home sits on 965 square metres which was part of the Deaton family's Tropique property before it was subdivided and sold off.
Christie's International agent Ken Jacobs calls it the pinnacle of Palm Beach.
Meanwhile hedge fund manager Paul Henry and his wife Belinda have sold the couple’s weekender through LJ Hooker Palm Beach where they were asking $15.5 million to $16 million.

The $24 million figure ranks as Palm Beach's priciest as the prior high was the $22 million paid nearby by car dealer Laurie Sutton in 2012 for the trophy home, Kalua.
