Builder-developer ALAND has drawn back the curtain on its first city-focused new apartment development.

The North Sydney development, <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-walden-north-sydney-173-179-walker-street-north-sydney-nsw-2060">The Walden</a>, is the first time the company has ventured this close to the city, having previously completed thousands of apartments predominantly in Sydney's west, and more recently in Gosford.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/aland">ALAND</a> acquired the prime North Sydney site, spanning Walker and Hampden Streets just down the road from the Victoria Cross Metro station, for $240 million in June.

Now they've unveiled the new project, a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments across a 30-level building designed by Rothelowman.

The Walden will capitalise on the site’s front-row position on the eastern fringe of the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/north-sydney-nsw-2060">North Sydney</a> CBD, which offers uninterrupted Sydney Harbour views stretching from the Sydney Harbour Bridge all the way to Sydney Heads.

The main tower will be flanked by a small four-level amenity building known as The Pavilion, offering exclusive resident-only amenities including a dedicated concierge service, a sauna and private wellness studio, a gymnasium and fitness studio, a resort-style rooftop pool and sundeck.

There will also be a&nbsp;residents’ lounge, private dining and a wine cellar, and co-working facilities with an on-site meeting room and boardroom.

ALAND unveils The Walden, North Sydney's latest luxury apartment development

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/toga-group">TOGA</a> has opened sales for the final building in Macquarie Rise, its latest mixed-use development in Macquarie Park.

Since launching its <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/macquarie-rise-122-herring-road-macquarie-park-nsw-2113">Macquarie Rise</a> in late 2023, TOGA has secured over 125 sales in the Herring Road development, to a range of purchasers, from first home buyers to investors and downsizers. Around 65 per cent of purchasers have been owner-occupiers.

TOGA has now launched a new release of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments in the final building, Saunders Rise. Sunshine Coast-based <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/devcon-property-group">Devcon Property Group</a> has acquired one of Maroochydore’s most prominent development sites for $12 million unlocking the potentialfor a mixed-use project in the Cotton Tree precinct.

The 4,178 sqm site at 41–43 Aerodrome Road—well known locally as the former home to one of Australia’s last Sizzler restaurants—was sold via an off-market expressions of interest campaign by Colliers agents Nick Dowling and Baydn Dodds. More than 70 targeted buyer groups were approached, resulting in multiple competitive offers for the property.

Devcon Property Group Managing Director Michael Kain said the acquisition was a strategic move in line with the company’s focus on delivering high-quality projects in prime coastal locations.&nbsp;

Managed by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Hayman Island has undergone a $135 million refurbishment.
The resort is the first of four InterContinental Resorts to open in 2019 and will be followed by ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort &amp; Spa, InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort and InterContinental Phuket Resort. 
Groups involved in the design and construction of the 166 room resort include, DBI Designs, DAARC and KY Design.
The only way to get to the three wing resort is either luxury catamaran, helicopter or seaplane. 
A new addition to the accommodation offering is the Three Bedroom Hayman Beach House, fronting Hayman Beach and offering 400 sqm of privacy.

Hayman Island InterContinental reopens its doors

The Whitsunday Islands will see IHG take over management of Hayman Island, rebranding it as Hayman Island, by InterContinental.
Hayman Island, by InterContinental will be an oasis at the northernmost point in the Whitsunday Islands.
It opens in 2019, following significant investment to refurbish the product. 
The 166-room hotel is on the 400-hectare island where Mulpha Australia Limited will offer a bespoke collection of homes for sale to those who want to own a piece of heaven on Hayman Island. 
Malaysia’s Mulpha Group told The Australian last month it was spending more than $100 million redeveloping its cyclone-ravaged Hayman Island, one of the poshest resorts.
Mulpha plans to redevelop the 400ha island as one of the most luxurious lifestyle resorts in Australia, introducing an exclusive private beach house, a range of new penthouse suites and four ­exclusive townhouse-style private residences for sale or rent.
Hayman Island’s houses have been designed by award-winning, Singapore-based architect Kerry Hill and fitted out by ­­Blainey North.
Mulpha can ­develop 21 houses on Hayman ­Island, and has completed four with butler’s pantries, private pools, four bedrooms and four ensuite bathrooms priced at about $10 million each.
The houses, to be completed next March, are about two minutes’ on a golf buggy from the resort.
The landmark agreement with Mulpha Australia Limited also sees IHG continue with a long-term agreement to manage both InterContinental Sydney and InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. 
InterContinental Sanctuary Cove was the first InterContinental Resort to open in Australia.
Under the new agreement, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove will enjoy a refurbishment that will see it continue its legacy as one of Queensland’s most prestigious hotels.
IHG currently has 47 hotels operating under four brands across Australasia: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express with a further 19 in the pipeline including Hotel Indigo and EVEN Hotels.

Mulpha Australia to offer homes for sale on Hayman Island as InterContinental arrives

The Whitsundays Island Hayman is set to be rebranded an InterContinental Resort after its previous operator, the Kerzner Group’s high-profile One&amp;Only Group, cut ties with the island’s owner.
Hayman Island will be rebranded an InterContinental Resort when it reopens after a massive renovation due to the damage sustained from Cyclone Debbie.
It is currently accepting reservations from 1st March 2019 but hopes to be welcoming guests from late 2018.
The high-profile Great Barrier Reef resort had been rebranded a One&amp;Only resort in 2014 amid much fanfare following an $80 million refurbishment.
Hayman Island’s owner, ­Malaysian conglomerate Mulpha Australia, offered up the management rights to its portfolio last year.
The Australian reported three parties were short-listed for the prized management rights to its four eastern seaboard hotels and resorts.
The American hotel giant Marriott was among the short-listed, but incumbent operator IHG successfully won the rights to the Mulpha properties and will continue to operate the Sydney and Sanctuary Cove resort hotels under the InterContinental brand.
Mulpha’s Rydges Hotel in Cairns would remain under a Rydges hotel.

InterContinental to take over Hayman from One&Only

The Malaysian owners of Queensland's Hayman Island have listed the resort with $300 million hopes.
Hayman Island, in the Whitsunday's is owned by Malaysian-based company Mulpha.
Reports state it is on the market through Queensland real estate agent Dan McVay, of McVay Real Estate.
The 160-room resort needs a rumoured $80 million worth of repairs following destruction caused by Cyclone Debbie late March.
According to reports in The Australian, Hayman Island's fin­ancial performance had started to improve before the cyclone. The resort, which employs 1200 staff, will remain closed until the refurbishment is completed.
The Australian reported the billionaire Oatley family, owners of Hamilton Island, could be interested in Hayman because of its infrastructure, and the family is keen to develop another high-end resort similar to its opulent Qualia resort, with a Hamilton Island spokesperson saying Hamilton Island does not comment on rumour or speculation regarding our interests or business strategy.
Mulpha is also looking for a new operator for the island.
