<p>The Gold Coast economy has grown by 25 per cent since 2020/21 to surpass $55 billion, but perhaps the more significant story is what sits behind the headline number.</p>

<p>For decades, the Gold Coast has been viewed through the lens of tourism, lifestyle and population growth. The latest State of the City Report suggests that perception is increasingly out of step with reality.</p>

<p>Released by Invest Gold Coast, the report ranks the Gold Coast as Australia's largest non-capital city economy and, perhaps more notably, second nationally behind Sydney for Economic Complexity, a measure that assesses the diversity and sophistication of an economy.</p>

<p>It's a result that places the Gold Coast ahead of Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, highlighting the extent to which the city's economic base has broadened beyond its traditional industries.</p>

<p>Today, the Gold Coast supports more than 350,000 jobs, is home to over 83,000 businesses and generates $19 billion in annual exports. Manufacturing now accounts for 62 per cent of international export growth, while sectors including health, education, advanced manufacturing, technology and professional services are becoming increasingly important contributors to the local economy.</p>

<p>Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said the report confirmed the city's evolution into one of Australia's most significant economies.</p>

<p>"The Gold Coast economy continues to grow at an incredible pace. This is no surprise to those of us who have watched the evolution up close," Mayor Tate said.</p>

<p>"As one of the most entrepreneurial, investment driven and opportunity focused economies in the country our ambition has been realised and possibilities are endless.</p>

<p>While population growth has been one of the defining stories of the past decade, the report points to a broader economic transformation taking place.</p>

<p>The city's knowledge economy now contributes $7.9 billion annually and supports around 31,000 jobs, while the health and wellbeing sector contributes $5.2 billion and employs more than 42,000 people. Together, the six priority sectors identified in the report account for almost $24 billion in economic output and more than 145,000 jobs.</p>

<p>One of the strongest examples is the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct at Southport. The 200-hectare precinct now contains more than $5 billion worth of health, education, research and innovation infrastructure and supports over 16,000 jobs.</p>

<p>The report also highlights the growing role of advanced manufacturing, particularly in aerospace, defence and modular construction.</p>

<p>Gold Coast-based Gilmour Space Technologies recently became the first Australian commercial company to attempt an orbital launch, while companies including Modscape and ModnPods are helping establish the Yatala-Stapylton corridor as one of Australia's fastest-growing advanced manufacturing hubs.</p>

<p>The city's entrepreneurial culture is also translating into business growth.</p>

<p>Since 2019/20, the number of businesses operating on the Gold Coast has increased by 22 per cent, while firms employing more than 200 people have grown by 80 per cent. The report suggests the next challenge is converting more local start-ups and medium-sized businesses into nationally significant companies.</p>

<p>Development activity remains another key indicator of confidence.</p>

<p>There are currently more than $23 billion worth of major projects underway across the Gold Coast, supported by a record 75 active cranes, a figure that now exceeds Brisbane and represents a 150 per cent increase since 2016.</p>

<p>While 93 per cent of crane activity is currently tied to housing, Invest Gold Coast argues future investment will increasingly need to focus on cultural, civic, infrastructure and industry-enabling projects that strengthen the city's long-term economic resilience.</p>

<p>Invest Gold Coast Chair Will Hodgman said the city was now benefiting from years of economic diversification.</p>

<p>"What is happening on the Gold Coast is the result of the city's economic base broadening, fuelled by industries with long-term, high-growth potential," Mr Hodgman said.</p>

<p>"This is no longer a secondary Australian economy, the Gold Coast is becoming a globally connected city with deeper capability across health, knowledge and creative industries, advanced manufacturing, technology and exports."</p>

Buyers rush to Homecorp's Florence Residences as Gold Coast wellness trend gains momentum

<p>The NSW Government has expanded its $1 billion Pre-sale Finance Guarantee program, broadening access for affordable housing providers and smaller residential developments as it seeks to accelerate housing delivery across the state.</p>

<p>The Minns Government says the program has already helped bring forward more than 600 homes across Sydney and regional NSW since launching in September 2025, with similar models now adopted in South Australia and Western Australia.</p>

<p>The latest changes, announced by Treasurer Daniel Mookhey and Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully, are designed to improve access to finance for projects that have planning approval but are struggling to secure funding.</p>

<p>Among the key changes is an expansion of support for community housing providers. The program will now support up to 100 per cent affordable housing projects valued at up to $30 million when delivered by not-for-profit providers, while support for larger affordable housing developments will increase for projects worth up to $80 million.</p>

<p>The government says the changes will help accelerate the delivery of housing for low-income workers, older people, people living with disability, and those at risk of homelessness, while reducing reliance on direct grants or subsidised loans to bridge funding gaps.</p>

<p>The eligibility criteria for smaller residential developments have also been broadened. The previous $5 million minimum project value threshold has been removed and replaced with a requirement that projects deliver at least four homes.</p>

<p>Support has also increased for projects delivering fewer than 20 homes, with the guarantee now able to cover up to 75 per cent of dwellings in a development, capped at $30 million per project.</p>

<p>The changes are expected to particularly benefit smaller-scale and regional developments, which often face greater challenges meeting pre-sale requirements imposed by lenders.</p>

<p>Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said the scheme demonstrates how government can use its balance sheet to stimulate housing supply without relying solely on taxpayer-funded grants.</p>

<p>"The Pre-sale Finance Guarantee shows how this Government is using its balance sheet to reduce risk and unlock private investment, enabling new homes to move from design to construction faster," Mookhey said.</p>

<p>"This landmark reform allows us to deliver homes for working families at a lower cost to taxpayers, while also maintaining strong financial discipline."</p>

<p>Planning Minister Paul Scully said the program had already proven effective in bringing stalled projects to market.</p>

<p>"The Pre-sale Finance Guarantee has already proven it can unlock stalled projects and accelerate housing delivery by giving lenders the confidence they need to back good developments," Scully said.</p>

<p>"These changes will allow more affordable housing and smaller developments to access support so more homes can be built faster where communities need them most."</p>

<p>Housing Minister Rose Jackson said the expansion would help community housing providers overcome financing barriers that often delay projects.</p>

<p>"We know community housing providers are ready to build more homes, too often they're held back by barriers to finance," Jackson said.</p>

<p>"Expanding the Pre-sale Finance Guarantee helps remove those barriers so more affordable homes can get off the ground sooner."</p>

<p>The announcement was welcomed by the Property Council of Australia, which has long advocated for measures aimed at improving project feasibility and access to finance.</p>

<p>Property Council NSW Executive Director Katie Stevenson described the expansion as a practical intervention that addresses one of the most immediate constraints on housing delivery.</p>

<p>"This is exactly the kind of practical intervention we need right now, focused on getting projects out of the ground, not just approved," Stevenson said.</p>

<p>"It builds on a model the Property Council has worked closely with government to develop following calls for such a scheme ahead of last year's NSW Budget, so it's great to see it being expanded."</p>

<p>Stevenson said the reforms would help unlock projects that are ready to proceed but have been delayed by financing challenges. However, she noted that broader feasibility issues remain a significant barrier to increasing housing supply.</p>

<p>"The biggest challenge in NSW housing today is delivery. Too many projects have planning approval but are simply not financially viable to proceed under current settings," she said.</p>

<p>Speaking at the Property Council's NSW Housing Summit, Housing Minister Rose Jackson acknowledged that feasibility and financing pressures continue to constrain housing delivery, while reaffirming the government's commitment to work with industry on solutions.</p>

<p>Stevenson said the government's recognition of those challenges was encouraging ahead of next week's state budget.</p>

<p>"It's positive to see the government clearly recognising that feasibility pressures are now a binding constraint on supply," she said.</p>

<p>"With the Budget just days away, the focus must be on backing delivery, making sure projects stack up, finance can flow, and more homes can move from approval to construction."</p>

<p>Hollyford was built about 17 years after St Vincent Place was laid out, modelled on the English idea of houses clustered around its central landscaped gardens.</p>

<p>Then pawn broker James Healy owned Hollyford for just 14 months. The Hammond family held the property from December 1876 until its sale to the Ryan family from Tipperary in 1899. It seems they gave the house its name as Hollyford is a small village in County Tipperary. The best known family member was <span>George Ryan, who died in 1986, and was old enough to recall the picket fence left over from St Vincent Place's days as a racecourse. </span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">The Ryan's sold around 2002.</span></p>
<p>St Vincent Place's previous highest sale was $6.62 million when <a href="/expert-insights/buying/12590-weekend-auction-wrap-where-the-hammer-fell" target="_blank">Rosebank</a> sold unrenovated at its 2011 Marshall White auction where there were four bidders, highlighting the depth of prestige buyer interest when properties hit the market. The<span> 1866 double-fronted Victorian home was u</span><span>p for sale for the first time in over 52 years.</span></p>
<p>The street's last big listing, <span>No. 85 (pictured below), on a corner at the southern end of the sq</span>uare, a late-Edwardian solid-brick mansion with lacework and balconies, settled earlier this year at $6.2 million, but only on its second attempt through <a href="https://www.realestateview.com.au/Real-Estate/st-vincent-place-albert-park/Property-Details-sold-residential-5520745" target="_blank">Cayzer Real Estate</a>.</p>

<p>It had sold at $4.8 million in 2009 when offloaded by veteran stockbroker Peter Hollick, <span>nicknamed "the red bullet"</span>.</p>
<p>Then known locally as "the big red brick one on the corner with the red Porshe out front", Hollick moved to a 17th floor apartment at Becton's One East Melbourne development, on <span>Wellington Parade South </span>near the railcards, costing $3.6 million.</p>
<p>Albert Park's prior record was Duart, the $7.25 million mansion sold in late 2009 on Beaconsfield Parade by the Salvo family to Sonia Hill, wife of Globe <span>International founder Stephen Hill through Hockingstuart</span>.</p>

Hollyford, St Vincent Place - mooted $10 million plus record setting Albert Park mansion

<p>Goldman Sachs managing director Alastair Lucas spent $3.025 million to buy in East Melbourne.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.realestateview.com.au/Real-Estate/110-vale-street-east-melbourne/Property-Details-sold-residential-6961925" target="_blank">Lynda Manor</a>, the Italianate Victorian terrace <span style="line-height: 1.3em;">was the most expensive Melbourne house sold at auction on the weekend, according to the REIV.</span></p>
<p>The three-bedroom, 1889 Vale Street ­terrace sold through <span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Caine Real Estate director Paul Caine who's price guidance was $2.5 million plus.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">There were three bidders after the initial $2 million</span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> vendor bid on the 209 square metre property.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">It last sold for $95,000 in 1979.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">In March 2013 some $2.62 million was paid for the terrace two doors along, a five <span>bedrooms, three bathroom terrace with s, the formal lounge with Karl Fender designed extension.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"><span><span>There was a clearance rate of 70% at weekend auction, compared to 69% last weekend and 70% on the same weekend last year.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"><span><span>There were 576 auctions reported to the REIV.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"><span><span>The final clearance rate hasn’t risen above 70% since the week ending 23 March 2014.</span></span></span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"><span><span>The clearance rate is trending lower, however auction numbers remain high.</span></span></span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">The next two weekend is expected to have about 1,000 auctions each. </span></p>

Goldman Sachs managing director Alastair Lucas spends $3.025 million in East Melbourne

<p>Avon Court, the high profile Hawthorn mansion, sold on Monday off market.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">But the initial unconfirmed post-sale price speculation doesn't suggest there has been too much price growth over the four or so past years.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">The Shakespeare Grove property was last purchased by Autobarn boss Garry Dumbrell in late 2009 for $20,250,000.</span></p>
<p>Just where Hawthorn's highpoint price now sits remains a mystery after its latest sale through Paul Pfeiffer and Jeremy Fox of RT Edgar, but the purchase by Chong Qing Du has been advised as higher, possibly hovering around $21 million.</p>
<p>At that price level, the resale would not cover the initial $1.1 million stamp duty outlay.</p>
<p>It was last sold by the former Richmond Football Club president Clinton Casey and his wife, Leslie who had <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-hawthorn-106132107" target="_blank">Ross Savas at Kay &amp; Burton</a> hire Jo Silvagni to be the face of its print and video campaign. The photography that accompanies this article are of the house from 2009, with only nominal works undertaken over during the current ownership.</p>
<p>The Age suggests s<span>ince the 2009 purchase, the home improvements were concentrated on its landscaped gardens and a $250,000 outdoor non-glare 10 foot television installation.</span></p>
<p>Avon Court had previously traded for $5.7 million in 2003 with a rumoured $9 million or more spent on building two new wings, a cinema, gymnasium, sauna, 10-car garage and replacement tennis court.</p>
<p>This time it was an off market purchase by a Chinese family from Kew.</p>

Avon Court, Hawthorn $21 million sale intrigue

<p><span>Riyu Li, the billionaire boss of the Chinese development company planning the Gold Coast beachfront project Jewel, has emerged as <span>the $7.2 million buyer of the Tallebudgera property Bellagio La Villa.</span></span></p>

<p>The grandest of hinterland listings on the Gold Coast, Bellagio La Villa, is a symmetrical facaded home with<span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> 2,546-square-metres of living space.</span></p>

<p>The luxury home featured 10 ensuited bedrooms, plus multiple living areas, a library, media and music rooms, a gym, and indoor pool and spa.</p>

<p>There was also a five-car garage-cum-ballroom. It sold through<a href="https://ultraproperties.com.au/lot-1-2-3-tallebudgera-creek-road/" target="_blank"> Kevin Carlin of Ultra Properties with settlement earlier this year.</a></p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Rivi Li's RDG is planning to build the $1 billion three-tower development Jewel, at Surfers Paradise. The initial plans unveiled in 2011 included a</span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> six star hotel 45 level tower, plus </span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">215 luxury apartments over 41 levels in the northern tower and </span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">108 premium residences over 35 levels in the beachfront tower.</span></p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"><span>Located on the largest urban beachfront site on the Australian eastern seaboard at 1.13 hectares, Jewel’s hotel suites, luxury apartments and premium residences will be located on the beachfront corner of Old Burleigh and Wharf Roads, with three street frontages.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Oppenheim of Miami Florida and the Gold Coast’s DBI Design got the design brief, </span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">inspired by the Gold Coast’s ancient geology and described as “three crystals in rainforest on the beach”.</span></p>

<p><span><span>Last year <span>RDG, which is the Australian company of Riyu Li, secured two adjacent sites near the railway station and Metricon Stadium from the Sydney funds manager Balmain.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span>It was the third property transaction the Zhuhai-based businessman had made on the Gold Coast, according to the local News Ltd paper.</span></span></span></p>

Tennis veteran Wayne Arthurs lists Kooyong home with tennis court

<p>The Manassen small goods family have listed their Bennelong apartment with $13 million expectations, given plans to remain on the Mosman harbourfront compound.</p>
<p>The two-storey penthouse at <a href="https://www.domain.com.au/property/for-sale/penthouse/nsw/sydney/?adid=2011125404" target="_blank">7 Macquarie Street</a> (pictured above) was bought in 2011 for $12 million from the bulky goods entrepreneur Brett Blundy.</p>
<p><span>The now renovated four bedroom four bathroom apartment has 600 square metre space, including a 190 square metre balcony deck space. It has been listed through Bill Malouf of LJ Hooker Double Bay.</span></p>
<p>There hasn't been much sales success since when I last tallied the number of <a href="/news/plenty-of-blue-sky-with-12-sydney-penthouses-at-10-million-or-more-which-one-to-buy">prestige apartments on the market</a> with the weekly He Said, She Said, <em>Property Observer</em> columnist Margie Blok.</p>
<p>A 24th floor whole floor apartment in The Quay on Phillip Street, overlooking Circular Quay has been listed through Morton &amp; Morton at $12.5 million.</p>
<p><span>There has been the recent sale of Frank Tagg's Market Street penthouse after years on and off the </span>market, but prestige penthouse offerings are still at plague proportions.</p>
<p>Apartment 3510/70 Market Street (pictured below) <span style="line-height: 1.3em;">cost $4.5 million off the plan in early 2000 when the McDonalds franchisee Frank Tagg bought into the complex.  It sits high above the Myer CBD retail development, in Tower Apartments. <a href="https://sydneysothebysrealty.com/3905505/3501-68-Market-Street-Sydney" target="_blank">Apparently it sold through Sothebys agent Richard Cooper at around $8 million</a>. </span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Back in 2003 it was expected to bring more than $11 million, then in 2007 more than $8 m</span>illion was tipped.</p>

<p>Tagg, the former Western Suburbs first-grade footballer relisted the 640-square-metre Market Street penthouse when he and wife Sally move into their Rose Bay residence several years ago.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">There has also been the sale of the penthouse atop <a href="/news/plenty-of-blue-sky-with-12-sydney-penthouses-at-10-million-or-more-which-one-to-buy">The Georgia which was listed for sale at more than $10 million</a> with expressions of interest through Jason Boon at Richardson &amp; Wrench Elizabeth Bay after being</span><span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> developed by the hotelier Chris Crawley.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">It was for sale under instructions of receivers PPB Advisory. It has settled with the $10.95 million price revealed in its purchase by philanthropic Americans <span>John </span><span>Alchin</span><span> and Hal </span><span>Marryatt.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">The Georgian on 22 Macleay Street was finished in 2010, with Crawley retaining the three-level penthouse as his own. It has 680 square metres of space with a rooftop pool and panoramic views stretching from the city skyline to The Heads.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">The top </span>apartments<span style="line-height: 1.3em;"> that still remain for sale include:</span></p>
<p><strong>1)</strong> The ultimate - well priciest - trophy penthouse listing currently on offer is at 1 Macquarie Street overlooking Circular Quay (pictured below). In the Bennelong complex directly behind the Opera House, it is for sale with price hopes of more than $30 million. <a href="https://doublebay.ljhooker.com.au/MD9F93" target="_blank">There is now a June 10 expressions of interest campaign</a>.</p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Originally designed as four separate apartments, this enormous harbourside penthouse was consolidated by hoteliers Cyril and Margaret Maloney after the couple purchased four units off-the-plan in 1999 for almost $14 million. The penthouse has been listed for the second time in five years. In 2010 it was listed with a $30 million price tag, but failed to sell.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Following the death of Mr Maloney last year, his widow has placed the property on the market through Bill Malouf of LJ Hooker Double Bay and Michael Pallier of Sotheby's International. With annual strata fees reported to be well over $100,000, the 700 square metre apartment has its own lift lobby, a wine cellar, billiards room, a grand main bedroom suite, dressing rooms and a multimillion-dollar view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House concourse. There are also five car spaces on title.</span></p>
<p><span style="line-height: 1.3em;">Malouf and Pallier suggest the penthouse will attract an international buyer due to its unique landmark position in the dress circle between Circular Quay and the Botanic Gardens. </span></p>

<p><strong>2)</strong> In second place, with reported $20 million hopes, is the Darling Point penthouse of the late Macquarie Bank co-founder David Clarke. With about 740 squares metres of Babworth House (pictured below), the Arts and Crafts mansion built in 1915 for retailer Sir Samuel Hordern, the Mount Adelaide Street apartment was bought by Clarke in 2003 for $8 million.</p>
<p>Architect Michael Suttor and designer Michael Love collaborated on its interiors, which boast a grand reception hall, sweeping staircase, study, gym, and formal and informal living areas. Clark’s widow Jane Clarke has it listed with Sotheby’s Michael Pallier.</p>

<p><strong>3)</strong> The next most expensive is the Darlinghurst penthouse of high-rise Horizon which remains for sale after it was withdrawn from auction last weekend through Bill Bridges of Ballard Property.</p>
<p>Crowning the distinctive Harry Seidler-designed tower, the 43rd-floor penthouse (pictured below) is owned by Tasmania’s gambling arts patron, David Walsh, who’s the proprietor of the much-admired MONA gallery and Moorilla Estate vineyard. Walsh had listed his penthouse with $16 million price expectations.</p>
<p>To entice buyers and sweeten a deal for prospective purchasers, he was to offer the buyer select artworks from his private collection, including a watercolour triptych on paper by John Olsen to remain, though it makes more sense to keep the oil painting by Michael Johnson in situ. Walsh bought the penthouse from property developer Lang Walker in 2002 for $10 million through Bridges - it exceeded Sydney's then $8-million penthouse record.</p>

<p><strong>4)</strong> The Residence on College Street overlooking Hyde Park still has a sub-penthouse (pictured below) remaining for sale with $16 million hopes.</p>
<p>Known as The Archibald, it was withdrawn from recent auction by CBRE agent Ben Stewart. <a href="/expert-insights/investing/chinese-riddle-unravelling-over-the-lucky-penthouse-88-in-sydneys-the-residence">I honed in recently on the mystery $17 million buyer</a> of The Residence's true penthouse known as The Sulman and luckily numbered 88 in the building.</p>
<p>The buyer is Huang Shannian with clues about him coinciding with a person of the same name who featured on the 2009 Huran Richest Chinese People list at 88th place before disappearing from public view. With 690 square metres of space, the three-bedroom Archibald sub-penthouse has panoramic views and includes a private pool and spa, a rooftop kitchen and outdoor terraces.</p>

<p><strong>5)</strong> At Bondi Beach, a pair of penthouses, owned by celebrity accountant and yachtie Anthony Bell, is listed for sale by expressions of interest closing March 28 through McGrath agent, James Dack.  </p>
<p>Atop The Bondi, a modern complex on Campbell Parade, the two penthouses were purchased by Bell for $7,725,000 in 2006 and then a supposed $9 million in 2010. Each has three bedrooms, three bathrooms, large open-plan living spaces, a Calacutta marble kitchen and a staircase leading up to an enormous rooftop entertainment deck. Bell and his Getaway presenter wife, Kelly Landry, are off to a waterfront house at Watsons Bay bought for $12.5 million last year.</p>
<p>There have been $15 million reported expectations for Bell’s pair of penthouses in The Bondi.</p>
<p><strong>6)</strong> There are $15 million-plus hopes for The Eliza penthouse on Elizabeth Street, Sydney. Developed by Edward Doueihi of Ceerose, The Eliza is under construction and due for completion this year.</p>
<p>Spanning three levels overlooking Hyde Park, the 460-square-metre penthouse will sit atop a 17-storey building designed by the architects Tony Owen Partners.</p>
<p>It features four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a home theatre, a private lift, 3.5-metre-high ceilings, a massive 13.5-metre frontage overlooking the park and full automation through C-Bus. The top level comprises the entertainment terrace with a 10-metre lap pool.</p>
<p>Many of the lower floor sales have been through Savills. The full floor offerings are being marketed by Nigel Napoli and Irene Lau of Savills, in conjunction with Richard Shalhoub and Hamish Robertson of McGrath.</p>
<p><strong>7)</strong> Some years after completion, The Stamford Residences penthouse at 171 Gloucester Street (pictured below), Sydney remains listed with $15 million expectations.</p>
<p>In 2007 when, when the Stamford Residences was the latest high-rise in The Rocks, the four-bedroom penthouse was been listed with $16 million-plus expectations.</p>
<p>With Thomas Hamel designed interiors and numbered 28A in the Kahn Finch-designed building, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom penthouse has 567 square metres of indoor and outdoor space with views to the north and west, and frontages to Gloucester and Cumberland streets. It is listed through Colin Griffin of CBRE Residential Projects.</p>

It's still crowded atop Sydney's penthouse market offerings

<p>The former Sydney Harbour home (pictured above) of the late arts patron Ann Lewis has returned to the market.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.domain.com.au/property/for-sale/house/nsw/rose-bay/?adid=2011161743" target="_blank">Amaroo</a> has been listed by its 2011 Hong Kong-based expat buyer who paid $15 million, and briefly tenanted it.</p>
<p>It now comes with approved new dwelling plans with a $2.9 million design by Collins &amp; Turner. There are $18 million expectations.</p>

<p>Celebrity chef Matt Moran has spent close to $1 million to buy an off the plan Brisbane apartment in Sunland’s Abian tower.</p>
<p>Matt Moran secured a two-bedroom, two-bathroom low rise apartment in the 40-level tower which overlooks the city’s botanic gardens.</p>
<p>Moran controls two restaurants in the city, hence his decision to buy into the <span>curvilinear, pewter glass tower</span>.</p>
<p>Moran told The Weekend Australian the fourth floor apartment could be an investment property in the future, but he is visiting Brisbane most weeks.</p>
<p>It’s close to the restaurants, Aria Brisbane and Riverbar and Kitchen on Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier.</p>
<p>It was late 2009 when the 2067 square metre French Quarter development site was bought from Devine for $24.88 million, with an anticipated 2013-2014 construction completion date. <p>The heritage-listed property, <span>Kilkerran</span> was bought for $8.55 million in 2009 with his then-wife Simone Callahan.</p>
<p>It had been completely renovated to include a wine room, a gym, basement garage, tennis court, cinema and a pool with Warne's cricket number, 23, inscribed on the bottom of the pool.</p>
