Balcony gardens run throughout, with planter boxes worked into the private outdoor spaces of each apartment, giving residents greenery at the threshold rather than just at the rooftop.

That rooftop carries its own weight: a pool, landscaped gardens, and outdoor entertaining areas sit above the city, designed as much for quiet evenings as for hosting. The wellness offering continues at ground level, where a centre with pool, sauna, and communal lounge zones anchors the building's other end. Together they give the building a rhythm, somewhere to arrive at the top and somewhere to retreat to below.

The site itself is part of the pitch. Place Projects is handling sales, bringing a track record across some of Queensland's largest residential developments. Early buyer response has centred on the finishes and scale, "buyers consistently comment on the high-quality finishes throughout the apartments," the sales team notes, pointing to craftsmanship and considered design as the recurring draw.&nbsp;

"They're looking for generously sized apartments that offer both space and functionality, combined with a strong lifestyle offering," Place Projects says.

Construction has been awarded to Clearcon, with completion slated for late 2027. Pricing runs from $1.5 million for a lower-floor three-bedroom up to $3.65 million for the penthouse.

Mark Pomeroy, Director of PDQ, said the purchase reflects a broader shift in Melbourne’s prestige apartment market, where downsizers are increasingly seeking larger residences that allow adult children to remain at home longer while maintaining independence.&nbsp;

“We’re seeing more families choose apartment living without sacrificing space. For many downsizers, the reality is that adult children are staying at home longer, so buyers are looking for large apartments that allow everyone to live comfortably.”&nbsp;

Research conducted by the University of Melbourne in 2024 found that just over half of young men (54%) and 47% of young women aged 18 to 29 years old are still living under the same roof as their parents.&nbsp;

Inside the three-bedroom apartments at Villea Palm Beach

For more than 170 years, the Buckingham Arms Hotel stood as a cornerstone of Gilberton’s social life. First opened in 1849, the hotel quickly became a gathering place for locals, evolving alongside the suburb as Adelaide expanded north of the CBD.

Generations of families passed through its doors, with the Simpson family stewarding the venue for decades before the Matthews family introduced its famous smorgasbord in 1955, an offering that became a local institution.

When the hotel closed in 2022, it marked the end of a remarkable chapter in Gilberton’s history while setting the stage for a new era at the site.

Local builder-developer Citify secured the property and plans to fully restore the hospitality venue, returning it to its former grandeur. The project will also expand the broader precinct, incorporating a new apartment building designed to complement the heritage character of the longstanding pub.

Citify Founder and Managing Director Joel Wilkinson says the opportunity to acquire such a unique site was a no-brainer.

“Gilberton is among the top five blue-chip suburbs in Adelaide,” Wilkinson says. “It’s incredibly desirable, and very few opportunities exist to develop in such a small, prestige suburb.”

Only 22 houses in the suburb sold last year, and 2021 Census data shows just over 130 apartments in the area, making it difficult to enter the tightly held property market. “It’s incredibly competitive to get into Gilberton,” Wilkinson adds.

The Buckingham will almost double the number of apartments in the suburb. It will comprise 173 new one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, which are already proving popular with a mix of young professionals, local rightsizers, and downsizers. Future residents at The Buckingham will have private access to a significant amount of amenity, including a swimming pool, accompanied by a full pool deck with day beds and alfresco spaces, as well as a gym and sauna.

With concrete floors and toppings poured and cured over the weekend to create self-supporting formwork, the workspace below was obstruction-free for follow-on trades to install framing and services unencumbered. Quest continues suburban push with new hotel launch in Burwood East

Pellicano to embark on Stage Two of Ballarat Station transformation

Pellicano purchased the Gold Coast site last year, and obtained consent for the build in August 2018. Construction underway for $32 million Gold Coast development, adding to the Pellicano x Quest empire

Pellicano has secured Quest as the apartment hotel operator for mixed-use projects in Preston and Geelong, Victoria and Robina on the Gold Coast.
Completion of all four current projects is expected during 2020.
They will deliver 328 Quest apartment-hotel rooms, 99 residential apartments, retail space of 2,500sqm and a conference centre including theatrette.
In combination with Pellicano’s existing Quest property holdings at Woolloongabba and Dandenong, the sum of Pellicano’s Quest holdings will amount to a considerable 555 rooms.
Pellicano managing director Nando Pellicano says the companies’ relationship has been fortuitous over the past 10 years, owing to their complementary value proposition.
“The newest deals with Quest will take our relationship to eight projects over the past decade,” said Pellicano.

Pellicano builds a $182 million partnership with Quest

Quest Apartment Hotels has reopened its doors in Toowoomba, following nine months of restoration work.
The hotel was damaged by fire last June, after a blaze broke out at an adjacent property. 
Building owner FKG commenced the $5 million restoration works after the blaze, replacing soft furnishings, broken windows and glass, electrical, plumbing and wiring along with fresh paint and carpet throughout, after smoke and heat ravaged the entire eastern face of the hotel.
Quest Toowoomba franchisee, Cynthia Rice has been with Quest since 2003.
“The former Church of Christ building is of significant cultural value to the local community, representing part of Toowoomba’s history, while having a wonderful aesthetic. We couldn’t be happier to have restored the property back to its former glory,” she said.
Located at 133 Margaret Street, the property features 74 apartments in total – a combination of studio apartments with kitchenettes, along with one, two and three bedroom apartments with kitchen and laundry facilities and a separate living/dining area.

Quest Toowoomba officially reopens its doors

Maribyrnong is increasingly taking some of Footscray's limelight in terms of development activity throughout Melbourne's western suburbs, which flows all the way to the creation of a new 5 star hotel.

Edgewater Estate within Maribyrnong is clear to host the suburbs first high-end hotel. Late last year Council voted in favour of a new eight-storey hotel and apartment extension above the stalled Club Edgewater project at 31 Edgewater Boulevard.

Architects Hachem describe the project as a 5-star luxury hotel, which is a far cry from its original intended purpose as a licensed gaming facility under the guidance of the Western Buildings. That particular build stalled as a result of the partnership between the developer and sporting club falling through.

Also present is a function room, restaurant, bar, cocktail lounge, cinema and pool for hotel residents, plus an additional pool, cinema, retail spaces and a commercial gym for residents and guests alike.

Hachem's finish for the building includes grey and gold tinted glazing shrouded by polycarbonate louvers. Edgewater's prospective hotel may in time join Quest who have taken a considerable presence nearby at 2 Wests Road.

Quest is slated to open on July 2nd.

The Quest portion of the entire development has been offered for sale with JLL handling the transaction; Quest has committed to Maribyrnong for a 15 year period with rolling 5-year options thereafter.

Incidentally, Summus Apartments and Marque Maribyrnong have topped out simultaneously, ushering in the structural completion of the suburb's first two high-rise apartment buildings. Summus is in the hands of Brady Group who is acting as head contractor, whilst Marque is under the control of developer and builder JMC Group.

Both sites are under the guidance of Savills and are zoned mixed-use, with both touted as capable of accommodating developments in excess of 10 levels.

Maribyrnong achieves a number of significant development milestones

Burwood Highway&#39;s strengthening apartment market will soon be underscored by a new multi-level Quest Apartment Hotel development.

Crema Constructions has been anointed as the <a href="http://www.crema.com.au/project/quest-apartment-hotels/">builder of choice</a> for the project that has an estimated completion date of&nbsp;February 2019. At&nbsp;315-319 Burwood Highway, the K2LD Architects-designed Burwood East accommodation replaces an earlier purely residential design of roughly 100 apartments that was created by Plus Architecture for the site.

Developer&nbsp;OAM (Aust) Pty Ltd is backing the project that will now see&nbsp;91 Quest Apartments built across the expansive corner site.

West of&nbsp;315-319 Burwood Highway lies&nbsp;Deakin University&#39;s Melbourne Burwood Campus and&nbsp;RSPCA Victoria, although Quest will likely be targeting the numerous suburban corporate offices within walking distance, headlined by&nbsp;Motorola Australia and Hewlett Packard.

Currently, <a href="/developments/burwood-east-vic-3151">16 separate projects are sited upon Burwood Highway</a> within the Apartments.com.au Project Database, with further additions pending. All bar Quest&#39;s new endeavour are private residential apartments, amounting to some 738 new dwellings.

Despite the sizeable length of Burwood Highway, the vast majority of these 738 new dwellings are located within Burwood or Burwood East.

Latest to the&nbsp;Apartments.com.au Project Database is what shapes as the area&#39;s biggest proposal, at 380 Burwood Highway.

Sought for the site is a&nbsp;ten level mixed-use building that would account for the well known China Bar Signature restaurant.

Designed by Hayball and submitted for planning during August of last year, the new 380 Burwood Highway would include 122 apartments, an education centre, various green/outdoor terraces, 1,405&nbsp;square metres of office space&nbsp;and 3,050 square metres of retail/restricted retail space.

China Bar Signature is slated to take up a first floor tenancy of 1,109 square metres in the new building.

Covering a triangular 5,047 square metre site,&nbsp;380 Burwood Highway would be the area&#39;s tallest building if approved.

Quest boosts an expanding Burwood Highway development scene

Quest Apartment Hotels has announced it will develop its first property outside of the Australasian market in the UK city of Liverpool, delivering on the global expansion promised by the company’s founder Paul Constantinous.
The £10 million development of Quest Liverpool City Centre will see an existing commercial office building transformed into a 100-room apartment hotel building when it opens in early 2019. 
Quest Founder and Chairman Paul Constantinou said the deal marked the realisation of a long-held dream.
“For decades, we have honed the brand and the franchise business model to appeal to Australasian business travellers. Today marks the beginning of an expansion of the business across international markets outside Australasia,” he said.
The company expanded its global reach in July by joining one of the world’s leading serviced residence networks, Singapore-based The Ascott Limited (Ascott).
Constantinou said Quest now plans to replicate the successful Australasian roll-out of the brand across the UK.
“This first property development in Liverpool sets a benchmark for Quest and for the apartment hotel industry in the UK.” 
“There are very few Australian hospitality companies that have successfully established their brand overseas. We spent many years in the UK before undertaking this development, to ensure we understood the market and could confidently and aggressively roll-out the brand,” Mr Constantinou said.
Quest Liverpool City Centre sits on Church Street, one of the city’s biggest retail strips. The building is currently a 1980s commercial office building with retail on the ground &amp; first floors. The new property will also feature a conference room and gym.
Site establishment and strip out of existing offices will commence in December 2017, with full construction commencing in early 2018.
Quest are already in advanced negotiations for further two UK sites.

Quest announces first project outside of Australia

Quest Apartment Hotels recently opened an apartment hotel in Perth, Quest Innaloo at 1 Sunray Drive, adding 80 rooms to its offering.
The new apartment hotel, which is part of the mixed-use Stirling Cross development comprising 154 residential and 80 serviced apartments, is targeted towards the corporate traveller.
Developed by Fini Group, Quest Innaloo has 80 apartments – a mix of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments. The purpose-built property provides the perfect “home away from home” with fully-equipped kitchen, business lounge and on site gymnasium. 
Quest CEO Zed Sanjana expressed confidence in the future of tourism in WA, with the year ending June 2017 seeing more than 10.4 million overnight domestic and international visitors.
“Growing our base in Western Australia is a key priority for Quest with two more properties in the pipeline for the next year – Quest Midland and Quest on Mends Street in South Perth,” said Santana.
He added that Stirling was becoming a business centre for surrounding suburbs.
“We are pleased to be opening Quest Innaloo. The quality of the property is of the highest standard and the team are looking forward to delivering the best service to ensure each guest has the premium experience they expect from a Quest Apartment Hotel,” he said. 
Quest Apartment Hotels has opened seven new properties within the past 12 months including: Quest East Perth, Quest Fremantle (WA), Quest Griffith, Quest Macquarie Park, Quest Newcastle West (NSW), Quest Port Adelaide (SA) and Quest Dandenong Central (VIC).
