Kew Tallawong: A growing community taking shape in Sydney's north-west

It was the lack of market-ready apartments that attracted renowned developer TOGA to a prime site on Anzac Parade in <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/kensington-nsw-2033">Kensington</a>, just a stone's throw from excellent connectivity, medical, and educational facilities.

“There’s a lot of student accommodation in the area that serves students coming in and out over a four-year period,” TOGA's Executive General Manager of Sales, Anthony Falas, recently told Apartments.com.au. He highlighted the area's popularity among students due to its proximity to UNSW and the Randwick Health Precinct.

However, he suggested that despite the activity in the student accommodation space, the area is lacking new housing stock for those looking to purchase.

"<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-kensington-147-151-anzac-parade-kensington-nsw-2033">The Kensington</a> fills that gap," Falas says.

The new development will also bring several new retailers on Anzac Parade. They will range from a small supermarket and cafes to services such as hairdressers and pharmacies, which will serve not only The Kensington residents, but also the wider neighbourhood.

They also completed a two-tower project in Macquarie Park. For The Kensington, TOGA enlisted DASCO, an iCIRT-rated builder, to ensure the project meets TOGA’s impeccably high standards.

“It’s been fantastic to go through this journey with them, and our customers will share that experience,” says Falas. “As we complete, we’ll bring them through and conduct final inspections with the builders.”

The building, designed by Turner Studio, features an elevated rooftop garden offering views across Randwick Racecourse and Centennial Parklands. Falas believes The Kensington offers everything an owner-occupier would want in terms of livability, as well as strong long-term growth potential for investors.

"The CBD is just a couple of stops away, it takes 10 minutes tops, door to door. We also have a major employment hub here, with the hospital and the university. So we’re seeing a lot of people who work in the area looking to purchase, or who have already purchased. And you’re also not too far from the eastern beaches, Coogee, Bondi, Tamarama, and all the fantastic beaches Sydney has to offer.”

Sekisui House Australia's first apartment development in Sydney's Lower North Shore has been a hit with prospective new home buyers.

They recently released <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/waterstone-st-leonards-24-berry-road-st-leonards-nsw-2065">Waterstone</a>, on the fringe of Newlands Park in the emerging St Leonards South precinct, a short walk from the Crows Nest Metro and the heart of St Leonards.

The new development will home&nbsp;207 apartments across five mid-rise buildings, rising between four to nine storeys.

We recently visited the display suite at&nbsp;60 Pacific Highway, St Leonards, to find out more about the development that has been one of the most enquired on developments on Apartments.com.au in the last few months.

Marrum highlights the presence of sensory gardens and native planting throughout, signalling an approach that enhances both wellness and biodiversity.&nbsp;Yet Waterstone doesn’t forgo amenity for serenity however. "The first we call 'modern nostalgia', or the feeling of home. We studied some of Flack's most famous residential homes, and we've created a series of design moments, from the edge of the island bench to the door hardware and the materiality of the homes."

Until eight years ago, Stones Corner was simply a neighbourhood within Greenslopes and Coorparoo. But in 2017, the small 0.6-square-kilometre area became its own suburb, named after James Stone, who operated a ginger beer shop there in 1875.

Anchored by Hanlon Park—one of Brisbane's best parks—Stones Corner is now well and truly on the map.

“Stones Corner, a small and deliciously eclectic urban village, is one of inner-city Brisbane’s biggest residential opportunities and best-kept secrets,” Slaite Projects Director Brett Jackson says.

The Slaite team, on behalf of developer <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developers/demartini-fletcher-property">DeMartini Fletcher Property</a>, recently launched <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/corner-house-stones-corner-18-stoneham-street-stones-corner-qld-4120">Corner House</a>—just 88 apartments on the corner of Montague and Stoneham Streets. “Corner House honours the character and vernacular of Stones Corner while adding a fresh contemporary spin,” Jackson says.

The building has been designed by Ellivo Architects, who incorporated the existing red brick corner structure—a nod to the surrounding area. The upper levels step back and are wrapped in curved balconies with soft, fluid edges.

While larger towers are rising in the nearby Woolloongabba precinct, Corner House keeps things deliberately modest. The 88 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments are spread across an 11-level building.

“Each residence has been designed to be luxuriously spacious, with open-plan living, a large entertainer’s kitchen, and ample storage,” Jackson says.

Flush floor finishes allow living areas to flow directly onto the balcony, while green-screen planters between apartments help soften sightlines and maintain privacy.

There’s a noticeable consistency in the finishes throughout—no jarring leap between entry-level and premium inclusions. Kitchens come fitted with a full suite of integrated Italian-designed Kleenmaid appliances, including double fridges and freezers.

Inside, <a href="/interior-designers/mim-design">Mim Design</a> has approached each apartment as a carefully crafted sanctuary. Natural stone and marble floors, Gaggenau and Liebherr kitchen appliances, and expansive windows connect each space to the sweeping city and bay views beyond.&nbsp;

“Interiors feature natural stone, marble flooring, kitchens with Gaggenau and Liebherr appliances, and full-height windows and doors to take advantage of the elevated views,” Dow says.

Above it all, the rooftop is a standout. More than a shared amenity, it’s designed as a dedicated wellness escape.&nbsp;

“One of the defining features of The Eighth is its private rooftop created as a wellness haven,” says Dow. The space includes a swimming pool, integrated daybeds, and an outdoor bar, offering residents panoramic 360-degree views across Melbourne.
