Sydney has around 460 auctions this weekend, which is some 15% higher than the same weekend last year, according to Australian Property Monitors.

Melbourne has around 775 auctions.

Auction activity resumes following last week’s pause in activity with the Queen’s Birthday June long weekend.

Sydney's preliminary weekend auction clearance rate was 69.7%.

The inner west has 78 scheduled auctions with 64 auctions scheduled on the upper north shore.

Maroubra in the eastern suburb oceanside and Eastwood on the upper north shore each have 10 properties listed.

Strathfield and Mosman both have seven auctions.

Epping and Pymble have  six auctions scheduled.

"Buyer momentum is clearly on the up for the Sydney housing market," Dr Andrew Wilson, the senior economist at Australian Property Monitors said.

"Auction clearance rates have risen over recent months with the Easter to Queens’s Birthday late autumn period now tracking higher than the same period in 2010 during the then house price boom," he noted.

The median price for houses sold at auction in Sydney over the late autumn season has risen by 1.1% compared to the early autumn pre-Easter period.

The most popular suburbs for auctions in Melbourne are St Kilda with 19 followed by Port Melbourne, Preston and Glen Waverley each with 15 auctions.
