Professional golfer Fred Couples has listed his home in La Quinta, California, at US$4,195,000.

The Spanish-style villa with courtyard with a fountain sits on nearly a half-acre site with mountain views.

Its interior features include limestone and wood floors, arched windows, a great room with an oversized stone fireplace, a wine room and two master suites with stone fireplaces and terraces. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms in the 483-square-metre house, which is being sold furnished.

Among community amenities are two fitness centres, a swimming pool and a private golf course designed by Tom Fazio.

Couples uses the house as a place to relax at the end of the golf season. He is selling because he plans to build a custom home in the same development. Public records show Couples bought the property in 2009 for $3,047,500.

La Quinta Real Estate and Luxury Homes agent Janine Stevens is marketing the property.
