The so-called ''Addams Family haunted house'' at Paddington, Verulam has been sold for $3,082,000 on its first offering since the 1920s.

The three-level Federation Queen Anne-styled offering is set on its 393 square metre Moore Park Road block.

Verulam had a price guide of $2.5 million through agent Louise Snowden of Raine & Horne Double Bay.

Set opposite the SCG and Allianz Stadium, the 284 Moore Park Road property comes with rear stables space.

Verulam, named after an ancient town in the south of Roman-occupied Britain, had been listed for auction following the death of its 98 year old occupant, Jacqueline Mary Schmidt.
