Iwan Sunito's vision for a landmark mixed-use precinct in Sydney's Inner West has taken a major step forward, with approval granted for the $1.9 billion Five Dock development first unveiled earlier this year.

The approved scheme by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/one-global-capital">One Global Capital</a> will deliver an 80,500 sqm mixed-use precinct comprising 840 apartments, integrated hotel accommodation, commercial and retail space, alongside publicly accessible open space designed to create a new destination for the growing suburb.

"This is a significant milestone for One Global Capital and for the future of housing delivery in Sydney," Sunito said.

"The Housing Delivery Authority was established to identify major housing projects capable of delivering meaningful supply more efficiently, and we are delighted that Spencer Street has been recognised as one of those projects.”

He said the declaration reflected the rapid progress achieved since acquiring control of the site.

"In less than seven months we have progressed from taking control of the site to securing entry into one of the NSW Government's most important planning pathways. Bentleigh East set for bumper auction weekend

Real estate auctions before 1pm on Anzac Day will be banned in Victoria under new laws to bring the property industry in line with other trading restrictions.
The issue arose in 2015 when Anzac Day fell on a Saturday. It is next set for a Saturday in 2020.
Melbourne agents mostly offered afternoon auctions, but Premier Daniel Andrews expressed concerned about reports raised on Neil Mitchell's 3AW that home auctions were held on Saturday morning.
"It may be legal to be having auctions and things of that nature, but I think it's pretty ordinary," Andrews said in 2015.
About 80 were scheduled for Anzac Day, with 18 held before 1pm.
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria says it was disappointing some vendors and agents had ignored their advice about maintaining respect for the day.
In 2015 Amanda Lynch, chief executive of the Real Estate Institute of Australia says there was a need a nationally consistent position on ANZAC Day opening hours.
The Herald Sun reported the legislation had been mooted in recent times with $16,000 penalties.

Wollongong's weakness at auction continues

This week, CoreLogic is currently tracking 1,566 capital city auctions, increasing from the 1,402 auctions held last week.

Melbourne and Sydney are set to see a higher volume of auctions this week, with 793 and 535 scheduled, up from last week’s final result of 721 and 458 auction’s held respectively.
Across the smaller markets, activity is expected to be higher in Brisbane and Canberra, while volumes across Adelaide and Tasmania will remain steady, with Perth the only auction market expected to host fewer auctions.

The overall number of properties scheduled for auction this week is expected to be lower than final results from the same week last year when 2,064 auctions were held.
The final auction clearance rate across the combined capital cities rose to 54.9 per cent across a higher volume of auctions last week, with 1,402 held, increasing from the 1,324 auctions the week prior when 54 per cent cleared.
Last week’s clearance rate was lower than the 67.5 per cent recorded over the same week one year ago when volumes were higher (2,040).

Indicative of the strong auction showing from Reservoir this coming weekend, 51 Queens Street, Reservoir (pictured in title) goes to auction this Saturday with a price guide of $1.15 to $1.25 million.
The 818 sqm property has a clear view of the Melbourne skyline.
The five bedroom three bathroom home is a short trip from Regent train station.

Another home going to auction this weekend is 17 McColl Street, Reservoir (pictured above).
This three bedroom two bathroom house has a price guide of $880,000 to $930,000.
The property is situated within a short distance of numerous shopping centres, schools and Latrobe University.

Reservoir again the busiest suburb for auctions this weekend

This weekend 1,100 properties will go to auction across the countries capital cities, the fourth consecutive weekend where volumes have dropped.
Last week there were 1,411 auctions, down from 1,557 the week prior. Before that there were 1,849 homes under the hammer.

Only Adelaide is set to see an increase in auction activity from last weekend.
Over the same weekend last year there were more than 500 more homes that were taken to auction across the combined markets. 
The busiest suburbs are all in Victoria, with Craigieburn leading the activity with 14 scheduled auctions.
That's followed by Preston with 12, Reservoir with 11 and Footscray and Richmond each hosting 10 auctions.
Every property up for auction in Craigieburn is a house.
One of the priciest going to auction is a <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-craigieburn-128604262" target="_blank">designer Champion Parade home</a> (below) which has a guide of $700,000 to $770,000.

Auction volumes drop for fourth consecutive week

Three of the four busiest suburbs for auctions are in Melbourne this week. 
Craigieburn tops the list with 22 homes scheduled for auction, followed by Epping (13) and Preston (12).
A three bedroom home at <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-craigieburn-128508994" target="_blank">4 Zennor Court in Craigieburn</a> (above), has a price guide of $480,000 to $520,000 for its auction on Saturday.
Randwick in Sydney also features in the top 4 suburbs this week with 13 homes set to go under the hammer.
The combined capital cities are seeing a fewer auctions this week with 1,557 auctions scheduled, down almost 300 from 1,849 last week.

Perth is seeing a 11 percent increase in auction volumes this week, with 33 auctions scheduled, up from 29 last week, while volumes are down across the remaining cities.
Over the same week last year, 2,001 homes went to auction across the combined capital cities, with a clearance rate of 67.3 per cent.

Auction volume numbers are lower this weekend than last, while all the busiest suburbs are in Victoria.
Reservoir tops the list with 17 homes set to go under the hammer, followed by Glen Waverley with 14 and Craigieburn with 13 auctions scheduled.
Last weekend 2,002 auctions were held. This weekend only 1,736 are scheduled.

Lower auction numbers nationally as Reservoir again the busiest suburb

A Sydney architect spent $1,255,000 on an empty Enmore auction offering.
It was a derelict property glamorously dubbed an overgrown "Angkor Wat." 
The dump, once a boarding house, had become so overgrown that the listing agent suggested it resembled the famed Cambodian temple where tree roots dominate the environment. 
It was obviously such a challenge to rebuild, the property actually sold at below the $1.3 million price guidance set by its McGrath Newtown listing agent Damien West.
The graffiti-ridden, roofless house at <a id="LPlnk101756" class="x_OWAAutoLink" href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-enmore-128383846" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">52 Juliett St </a>had its windows boarded up with corrugated iron.
A roots of a giant fig tree snaked through its interior.
The architect wants to build a designer home on the 228 sqm block and then on-sell it, the Sunday Telegraph reported.
The property last traded at $7200 in March 1966.
It was one of the limited auction offerings listed across Sydney. 
CoreLogic put the Sydney clearance rate at 57.6 per cent.
Melbourne likewise had reduced listings as auction volumes fell significantly due to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

There were 900 homes auctioned across the combined capital cities, down from 2,281 last week. 
The preliminary clearance rate was recorded at 55 per cent, up slightly from last week when the final clearance rate came in 54.1 per cent, the lowest level recorded across the combined capitals since 2012. 
"Once the remaining results are collected over the next few days, it is possible that the final clearance rate for this week rate will revise even lower," Kevin Brogan, the CoreLogic auction analyst suggested.
Sydney overtook Melbourne as the busiest city for auctions this weekend, with 414 homes going under the hammer, returning a preliminary clearance rate of 57.6 per cent, compared to last week when just 47.1 per cent of the 837 auctions were successful. 
Over the same week last year, there were 619 auctions held in Sydney, returning a clearance rate of 67 per cent.

There were just 276 auctions held in Melbourne this week returning a preliminary auction clearance rate of 56.1 per cent, the lowest success rate since 2012. By comparison, last week there were 1,079 auctions with a final clearance rate of 59.8 per cent, while this time last year, 75.9 per cent of the 389 auctions held were successful.
Adelaide was the best performing capital with a 65.5 per cent success rate across 29 auction results, followed closely by Canberra, where 65.4 per cent of the 26 reported auctions were successful.

Overgrown Enmore former boarding house sold for less than expected

Cooley Auctions' auctioneer Damien Cooley recently suggested a generally accepted auction clearance rate for a healthy market, where both sellers and buyers have equal bargaining positions, was between 50 per cent and 60 per cent.
The original Saturday night had the clearance rate at 58.1 percent.
