The enormity of delivering a true skyscraper in Australia's new development market is often overlooked.

It has taken the best part of a decade since plans for Chevron One were first unveiled, but the 41-storey tower is now complete, with residents collecting their keys and moving into what has become one of the Gold Coast's most recognisable new landmarks.

Rising 127 metres above Chevron Island, Chevron One stands almost twice as high as any other building on the island. Its scale places it alongside the trio of towers at Jewel, arguably the last truly significant addition to the central Gold Coast skyline when they were completed around six years ago.

Sydney property fund manager and developer, WINIM, has secured a 2,052 sqm site in Northbridge, taking its North Shore portfolio to six boutique residential developments.

The local North Shore developer is set to create a development with a mix of apartments and developments at 46-48a Eastern Valley Way, opposite Shore Playing Fields.

Northbridge is a highly regarded suburb with a mix of housing styles, with the most prestigious properties positioned on waterfront land and orientated to incorporate expansive Middle Harbour views, according to a recent Herron Todd White (HTW) residential report. 
Northbridge is an established suburb located approximately 6.5 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
On the affordability scale, Northbridge does not often get a mention, having a median house price in 2019 of $3.2 million, according to CoreLogic data. 
"It must be noted however that this median price is down from $3.49 million in 2017, although still not quite in the affordable category for the majority," says the valuation firm. 
"Obviously some serious sacrifices are going to have to be made if you want to live in Northbridge on a beer budget. Waterfront positioning and expansive water views are out of the question, with thoroughfare roads and dated dwellings being the compromises that will have to be made."

 Strathallen Avenue is a main thoroughfare and the sale comprised a dated circa 1920 dwelling in need of a full renovation. It is also noted that the allotment of this property is of slightly irregular shape and is terraced at the rear, reducing the overall usability of the land.

"If these positive attributes can be capitalised upon, then it is worth making the sacrifices to be within this champagne suburb on a beer budget," they concluded.

Entry level properties within Northbridge have long term prospects: HTW residential

The five storey longtime Northbridge home of the former Australian prime minister Bob Hawke and his wife Blanche d’Alpuget has been sold reportedly for around $15 million.
Hawke and his then wife Hazel paid $1.23 million for the three bedroom knockdown house overlooking Sugarloaf Bay in 1991, just seven months before he lost the prime ministership to Paul Keating who suggested at the time it signalled Hawke was preparing to move on from the top job.
During construction on the 960 sqm block, the Hawkes stayed at Birchgrove in the townhouse of adman John Singleton and then lived at the then Ritz Carlton Hotel in Double Bay. It was completed in late 1993.
In 2013 Australia’s longest-serving Labor Prime Minister secured Willoughby Council approval for his plans for a rooftop pergola, decking and synthetic turf entertaining area able to be used as a putting green.
After their marriage ended the property was kept by Bob Hawke and transferred in Blanche’s name in 1999.
No estate agent has yet taken credit for the sale - or its reported price by Domain - which ranks as the third highest in Northbridge, behind a $21 million top sale from 2017.
Selling agent Chris Downie of Richardson &amp; Wrench Northbridge declined to comment on the sale.
The house set on the north shore’s Middle Harbour was constructed on a bushy block with views from one of the suburb’s best streets.
The original modest three-bedroom brick house came with jetty, sandy beach and harbour pool.
Hawke and his then wife, Hazel had sold their 1940s Melbourne home in Sandringham in 1986 for $430,000, three years after the family moved to The Lodge in 1983.
Hawke, Australia’s 24th Prime Minister, was born in South Australia’s Bordertown in 1929 and lived there until 1935.
The downsizing couple secured their whisper quiet off market sale with plans to soon relocate to an apartment overlooking Hyde Park in the Sydney CBD. Hawke, who turned 89 last December, has said his health has been “terrible.”
They are believed to have bought in the One30 Hyde Park development where off the plan settlements are due in coming weeks.
The couple borrowed $4.25 million using the Minibah Road Northbridge home as collateral for the financing of the switch.
The 38-storey tower has been developed by Hong Kong-listed developer Aoyuan Property Group in a joint venture with Ecove, the developer behind the controversial Opal Tower building at Olympic Park.
Developer Aoyuan International subsequently sought assurances of quality of the build at One30 Hyde Park at 130 Elizabeth Street. 
Prices in the luxury development started for two-bedroom apartments from $2.1 million and three-bedrooms starting at $3.1 million.
News of the move comes shortly before d’Alpuget’s next book, The Lions’ Torment is published, which her agent described as “Game of Thrones meets Hilary Mantel”.

The Paolucci Group, one of Western Australia’s large property owners, has moved to sell a prized piece of real estate in the heart of Northbridge.

The property is currently known as Arcade 189 and comprises a two-storey arcade incorporating ground floor retail and food &amp; beverage. 
Tenants include Ezra Pound, No Mafia and Taylorweir International School of Hairdressing on the upper level, in addition to an 89-bay Wilson carpark. The fully leased property provides an annual income of over $1.5 million with a WALE of 3.5 years. 
CBRE selling agent Kate Foley said the opportunity would attract interest from a wide range of buyers, including offshore and domestic developers. 
“The site’s position opposite one of Perth’s largest redevelopment projects, Perth City Link – connecting the city to Northbridge for the first time in 100 years – is a unique opportunity that we expect will be strongly contested,” Foley said. 
“We anticipate strong interest from Asian groups given the attractive holding income, central location, landmark nature of the site and significant scale of development potential. 
"These offshore groups are highly active in the Perth market, with groups from Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong – all having secured landmark development sites already.”
