The enormity of delivering a true skyscraper in Australia's new development market is often overlooked.

It has taken the best part of a decade since plans for Chevron One were first unveiled, but the 40-storey tower is now complete, with residents collecting their keys and moving into what has become one of the Gold Coast's most recognisable new landmarks.

Rising 127 metres above Chevron Island, Chevron One stands almost twice as high as any other building on the island. Australian batsman David Warner and ironwoman wife Candice can't help themselves when select property in Maroubra hits the market.
They've just settled on their fourth acquisition in two years.
It's their second investment apartment.
The <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-unit-nsw-maroubra-125063094" target="_blank">two bedroom apartment cost $1,023,000</a>, taking the couple's total spend in the coastal eastern suburb to over $8 million.
Much like their other apartment investment that cost $830,000 in 2015, its become a rental, with it leased this month at $700 a week, reflecting a 3.5 percent yield.
It's pocket change for the forever travelling Warner, who leads the fight against Cricket Australia for cricketers to earn higher incomes.
Wonder what Warner's ANZ financiers throught when he recently suggested Australia's cricketer will effectively be unemployed if a deal is not signed before July 1.
“Well from July 1 — we’re unemployed”, Warner told last week's Nine’s Sports Sunday.
Set on the top floor of a block of eight, the 94 sqm apartment acquisition has semi sized interiors with open living and distinct lounge and dining spaces.
PRDnationwide Perez Real Estate agent Vernoica Perez sold the apartment at auction.
It was bought just before Candice headed over to in India with their two daughters, Ivy Mae and Indi Rae, to support Warner who played in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The couple's $3.9 million knockdown on Mermaid Avenue - set to be their forever home - appears to be a slow progression.
It hasn't even been demolished yet.
The couple submitted now approved Rolf Ockert plans last year after their late 2015 buy. The plans are for a brand new five level home at an estimated $4 million cost.
They bought the property through McGrath's Simon Exleton as they secured the $7.05 million sale of their luxury South Coogee home. 
With the old home on the 892 sqm parcel yet to be demolished, the Warners bought a stop gap home round the corner last year.
Warner retains one Matraville investment apartment.
The former Matraville Public School student retains a two bedder than cost $695,000 in 2010.
He might be partners with captain Steve Smith out in the middle, but the pair seem to be battling it out for the number one property aficionado in the team.
Smith has just acquired his third property on the Balmain Peninsula, paying $1.95 million for the dilapidated Birchgrove home of architect David Gole.
It was marketed as a "vintage treasure ripe for reinvention" by Cobden &amp; Hayson agent Danny Cobden.
Smith retains a $1.75 million apartment home in Coogee.

Australian batsman David Warner buys in Maroubra again

The veteran NRL star, and Knights new boy Anthony Tupou and wife Kimberley will be able to splash out a bit more now in Newcastle following yesterday's sale of his Maroubra investment apartment.
The apartment, which has been a $590 a week rental, sold at NG Farah auction for $965,000.
There were seven registered bidders, three of whom came from an auction, just minutes earlier, in the 14 apartment 1970s Beach Court complex.
The two bedroom, one bathroom apartment on Broome Street came with balcony taking in water glimpses.
NG Farah selling agent Stephanie Farah had a price guide of $850,000 with a reserve price of $900,000 on the day.
The apartment was described as a sunny sanctuary just six minutes walk to the beach, auctioneer Glenn Farah said, in his first father-daughter sales campaign. 
The former Test backrower joined the Knights this year after he made the decision to leave English Super League club Wakefield Trinity last December to "do what was best" for Kimberley and their sons Ryder, 7, and Jovi, 5.
Newcastle was definitely home after winning over Kimberley, he said recently.
“She loves it now,” he said adding she wasn’t quite sold on Newcastle over the years.
"I met her back in 2004 and I’ve been trying to get her to like Newcastle ever since, but now we’re actually here, she’s starting to see it for what it is – the best place in the world, in my opinion."
His Maroubra investment apartment cost $491,000 for the apartment in 2005, shortly after joining the Sydney Roosters having been noticed by then Sydney Roosters coach Ricky Stuart when playing for NSW under 19s.
He made his Roosters debut in 2004, then joining the Sharks in 2009 having played 111 games for the Roosters. He played 125 games for Cronulla in seven seasons.
This year Tupou signed a one year deal with the Knights returning to the neighbourhood where his juniors' career started at West Newcastle.
He had spearheaded St Francis Xavier to the final of the national schoolboys competition in 2000.
Over the years he made 11 Test appearances for the Kangaroo's and played four State of Origin games for New South Wales.

Australian test cricketer David Warner and his ironwoman wife Candice have snapped up a $2.3 million Maroubra "nightwachman" home.
It will be their inbetweener while they construct their nearby next home.
The contemporary family home was secured just before the batsman headed off to India where Australia are locked in a battle with the number one rated Test team.
The couple are progressing plans to build at their $3.9 million Lurline Bay acquisition which is set to be their 'forever home'.
There's approval for a new five-storey residence at an estimated cost of $4 million, though the couple are yet to knock down the old home on 892 sqm which they bought through Simon Exleton at McGrath in late 2015.
It previously had approvals for a four level, 550 sqm home with plans by Tobias Partners.
The Warner's funded their Maroubra property splash by selling their five bedroom South Coogee mansion for $7.05 million in February last year.
The three storey home had cost $6.25 million just two years earlier from former Secret Millionaire Carly Crutchfield.
The sale through Bethwyn Richards at McGrath Edgecliff came a month after the birth of their second daughter, Indi Rae. Ivy Mae is two years old.
Set on 335 sqm, the newly acquired temporary split level entertainer at Maroubra has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a chic induction kitchen.
The master bedrooms comes with its own terrace courtyard and there's a self-contained lower level guest apartment with its own entrance.
Landscaped rear gardens feature an alfresco courtyard and barbecue deck.
Shane Vincent at Belle Property Randwick sold the home.
The much-traded home last sold for $1,675,000 in 2013 - and six times since the turn of the century.
It's unlikely the Warner's are going to buck that trend, with it just being intended as a brief pitstop abode.
Their prior foray into the Maroubra property market was 2015, when model Candice paid $880,000 for a modern two bedroom apartment, was leased quickly for $675 a week and is now up again for $700 a week, which would reflect a four percent yield.
Warner sold one of his two bedroom Matraville investment apartments for $800,000 last year, having paid $685,000 in 2013.
The former Matraville Public School student still holds onto an investment in the suburb - a two bedder than cost $695,000 in 2010.

The Surfing New South Wales chair John O'Neill and publisher Susan Boreham are selling their Maroubra home.
<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-maroubra-124085814" target="_blank">The five bedroom home</a> was rebuilt in 2012 in to a mid-century modern influence.
