Keith Wilton had spent years living in a house in East Maitland before deciding it was time for a change. Apartment living had always been on his radar, but he was selective about what he wanted.

Today, Keith says the move has completely changed how he experiences Newcastle.

For Aimee and Lyle Goodman, the journey started almost by chance.

"We were aware GWH was planning a development," Aimee says. "We made one phone call and things moved pretty quickly after that."

"We actually catch up more as a family now," Aimee says.

The judging submission also highlighted practical innovations throughout the building, including lift cores servicing only nine homes each, a central landscaped lightcourt designed to bring daylight and ventilation into the building, and fully enclosed private storage rooms with lighting, power and shelving to better accommodate residents transitioning from larger family homes.

The Gold Award for Interior Design recognised the project's focus on long-term liveability rather than display-home aesthetics.

According to the awards submission, the interiors were designed from the inside out, prioritising how homes would function over decades of daily use through generous proportions, practical storage, durable natural materials and flexible layouts.

The specification includes natural stone throughout, upgraded acoustic glazing, V-ZUG appliances and fully enclosed storage rooms, alongside an amenity offering focused on wellness, entertainment and everyday convenience.&nbsp;

The apartment price gap drawing Sydney buyers west

A luxury beachfront apartment at Rainbow Bay has more than doubled in value since it sold off the plan six years ago, setting a new local apartment record in the process.

The three-bedroom apartment in the Flow development on Petrie Street, the first of four new projects locally by Paul Gedoun's S&amp;S Projects, has sold for $7.4 million, after originally selling for $3.27 million when the project launched in 2020.

The seventh-floor apartment, comprising 187 sqm of internal living space and a 54 sqm balcony overlooking Froggies Beach and Snapper Rocks, was purchased by a local family.

The transaction was negotiated by Pezet Matheson director Kerry Pezet and equates to more than $30,000 per sqm.

Pezet said the sale reflected the limited opportunities to buy into the boutique beachfront development.

"The sale highlights the rarity of opportunities within the boutique beachfront development, where residences seldom become available," Pezet said.

"Flow is one of the Gold Coast's most tightly held buildings. Buyers from our database move quickly when residences become available, and achieving an off-market sale at $7.4 million demonstrates the depth of demand for property of this calibre."

Clontarf mortgagee home listed for sale

The $9 million plus sale of the Clontarf home belonging to Bradley Hunt, part of the Primo Smallgoods family, has fallen over.
It sold late last year, down on its $10.5 million initial asking price three years prior, but the prospective buyer has backed out.
The Gordon Street home, bought by Hunt for $8.7 million from Citigroup exec Paul Sangar a decade a go, has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a full-sized billiards room, swimming pool and cinema.
It's back up for sale with Cunninghams agent James Haywood with a $9 million to $9.5 million guide.
Hunt, son of John Hunt who co-founder Primo Smallgoods, and wife Kylie are now based in Cremorne where they bought the waterfront estate from billionaire Bob Ell for $11.2 million in 2015.

The house, on Gordon Street, features seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a quadruple garage, full-sized billiards room, large pool, and home cinema.

Harbourside Clontarf mansion sold for $9 million

The Clontarf home of the late oil baron Sir Walter Leonard is up for sale for the first time following the death of his widow, Lady Yvonne Leonard, in March, aged 96.
The 1385-square-metre double block holding at <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-clontarf-129774682" target="_blank">49-51 Cutler Road</a> was bought by the Ampol chairman in 1950 for £875 from World War I hero Harrie Cobcroft.
The two-storey residence was completed four years later on Cutler Road.
The five-bedroom house is in grounds with a pool and garden by Jamie Durie.
It has a $7 million guide.

Oil baron's Clontarf trophy home listed

Astra serviced apartment boss Peter Davis and his wife Rachel have secured a record Clontarf house sale.
Their beachfront home has sold for more than $11 million.
The Walter Barda-designed, Monash Crescent sold just a week after it was listed with a $10.5 million to $11.5 million guide through Cherie Humel and Michael Clarke, of Clarke &amp; Humel.
The agents confirmed the price was at the top end of the guide. 
The Clontarf beachfront has had a run of top-end sales in recent months including Rock Lee for more than $10 million by Hedge fund manager Robert Benz, of Whitecove Capital, and Malin Larsson.
The Davis's Walter Barda-designed residence was built after the couple bought the 639 square metre property in 2010 for $4,225,000. 
The Davis family sale tops the prior high of $11 million set in 2016 when Madina Phara –  wife of Mongkol Phara, of one of Cambodia’s ruling families – bought the nearby modernist landmark Portovenere from the estate of the late arts patron and Transfield co-founder Franco Belgiorno-Nettis and his wife Amina.
The mortgage broker John Kolenda recently paid $8.5 million with his wife Milenka for a house they saw while sailing past on a yacht.

Record $11 million plus Clontarf beachfront sale

The US based Altium chief executive Aram Mirkazemi has listed his redundant Clontarf home. 
Set on 700 sqm, the home on the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-clontarf-125986954" target="_blank">Gordon Street dress circle</a> has views over Sandy Bay to the Spit. 
There are four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a media room and a cabana that opens to a poolside terrace.
Mirkazemi paid $2.9 million in 2009.
Clarke &amp; Humel agents Kingsley Looker and Michael Clarke have the listing with expectations of between $3.7 million and $4 million.
Aram Mirkazemi heads up Altium, a $1 billion ASX-listed company that specialises in printed circuit board design software.
The company, whose stock has soared almost 6000 percent in the last five years, has been noticed by Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Mikrazmi arrived in Australia as an 18 year old refugee from Iran over 30 years ago and didn't know a word of English.

The waterfront Clontarf trophy home, Portovenere has set a suburb record at more than $10 million.
It was redundant to the Belgiorno-Nettis family needs.
The <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-clontarf-121904242" target="_blank">early 1960s modernist residence</a> was built by the late Transfield co-founder Franco Belgiorno-Nettis and his wife Amina.
With three sons, Marco, Luca and Guido, the couple bought their first lot in 1958 of the eventual 3668-square-metre holding for £2325.
It was just after Belgiorno-Nettis snr and Carlo Salteri founded the construction and engineering company, Transfield. 
The family's other recently sold real estate, included $3,665,000 for their Kirribilli apartment, $2.85 million for their Parriwi Road, Mosman apartment and $3.7 million for the house next door to Portovenere.
They were listed<a href="https://www.domain.com.au/1-3-amiens-road-clontarf-nsw-2093-2012591974"> </a>following family matriarch Amina Belgiorno-Nettis’ death last September.
Portovenere bettered the suburb's previous high of $8.7 million set in 2009 when Bradley Hunt bought the non-waterfront home of Citigroup executive Paul Sanger.
