Builder-developer ALAND has drawn back the curtain on its first city-focused new apartment development.

The North Sydney development, <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-walden-north-sydney-173-179-walker-street-north-sydney-nsw-2060">The Walden</a>, is the first time the company has ventured this close to the city, having previously completed thousands of apartments predominantly in Sydney's west, and more recently in Gosford.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/aland">ALAND</a> acquired the prime North Sydney site, spanning Walker and Hampden Streets just down the road from the Victoria Cross Metro station, for $240 million in June.

Now they've unveiled the new project, a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments across a 30-level building designed by Rothelowman.

The Walden will capitalise on the site’s front-row position on the eastern fringe of the <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/north-sydney-nsw-2060">North Sydney</a> CBD, which offers uninterrupted Sydney Harbour views stretching from the Sydney Harbour Bridge all the way to Sydney Heads.

The main tower will be flanked by a small four-level amenity building known as The Pavilion, offering exclusive resident-only amenities including a dedicated concierge service, a sauna and private wellness studio, a gymnasium and fitness studio, a resort-style rooftop pool and sundeck.

There will also be a&nbsp;residents’ lounge, private dining and a wine cellar, and co-working facilities with an on-site meeting room and boardroom.

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/toga-group">TOGA</a> has opened sales for the final building in Macquarie Rise, its latest mixed-use development in Macquarie Park.

Since launching its <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/macquarie-rise-122-herring-road-macquarie-park-nsw-2113">Macquarie Rise</a> in late 2023, TOGA has secured over 125 sales in the Herring Road development, to a range of purchasers, from first home buyers to investors and downsizers. Sunshine Coast-based <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/devcon-property-group">Devcon Property Group</a> has acquired one of Maroochydore’s most prominent development sites for $12 million unlocking the potentialfor a mixed-use project in the Cotton Tree precinct.

The 4,178 sqm site at 41–43 Aerodrome Road—well known locally as the former home to one of Australia’s last Sizzler restaurants—was sold via an off-market expressions of interest campaign by Colliers agents Nick Dowling and Baydn Dodds. More than 70 targeted buyer groups were approached, resulting in multiple competitive offers for the property.

Turner &amp; Townsend’s project manager Scott Sheehan has won the Construction Professional of the Year award for his work at Hummingbird House.
The award from Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) was given away at a function in Melbourne’s RACV Club.
Hummingbird House is Queensland’s only children’s hospice. It has eight beds and provides care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

It is a joint effort of the Hummingbird House Foundation and Wesley Mission Queensland.
The facility will deliver a variety of services, such as short-break stay, symptom management, emotional and psychosocial support, end of life care, bereavement support and many activities and therapies.  
Project managers for Hummingbird House, Turner &amp; Townsend – led by Scott Sheehan, completed over 900 hours of pro-bono time over a two-year period for the project.

Turner & Townsend’s Scott Sheehan wins Construction Professional of the Year award

The luxury villa project Qualia in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast suburb of Pelican Waters has won the Queensland MBA state housing and construction award.
Builders Ryan Designer Homes are the developers for the waterfront townhouse project.
Qualia won in the low-rise multi-residential housing class, adding to a recent regional award in the same category.
QMBA judges said workmanship and attention to detail were the deciding factors in Qualia’s win with each of its six waterfront townhouses offering light-filled living zones, two-car storage and two covered outdoor areas.
Private jetties offering residents a direct link to the aquatic playground of Pelican Waters, including direct deep ocean access, was also a winning feature.
Located within the 810 hectare Pelican Waters master-planned residential community at Caloundra, Qualia's prices range from $685,000. 
It is just a short distance from the future Pelican Waters Town Centre, Caloundra CBD, beaches and schools.

Pelican Waters' Qualia wins Queensland housing award

Sydney's Chifley Tower has received a performance award for its Energy Efficiency Upgrade project at the annual Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat 2015 Awards.
Property management firm JLL nominated Chifley Tower for the award. JLL’s head of the premium asset group, Mike George said JLL estimates that electricity consumption in the building has been reduced by 55% from the 2008 baseline readings preceding the project’s conception.  
The target of the Energy Efficiency Upgrade project was a 4.5 star NABERS Energy Rating, which it earned in January 2015.
The project of works for the entire project included:

<li>Installation of a new central chilled water plant.  The building’s cooling system was converted from a floor-by-floor, distributed condenser water cooled air conditioning system to a centralised chilled water system.  On 15 fully refurbished floors, five tenancy control zones were introduced for greater control of air conditioning supply;</li>
<li>Chifley Tower’s Building Management System (BMS) was upgraded with a new control system throughout the main plant infrastructure and on floors, including new graphic interfaces for improved monitoring and reporting;</li>
<li>Replacement of DC technology lift drives and control system equipment with latest technology;</li>
<li>Replacement of car park and back of house light fittings to reduce energy consumption;</li>
<li>Installation of C-Bus controlled lighting systems throughout the building to optimise lighting operation times and installation of LED sensor controlled light fittings in some areas to reduce the lighting load significantly;</li>
<li>Selection of a new standard tenancy light fitting and lighting layout design to reduce energy consumption and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) load; and</li>
<li>Review and optimisation of Waste Management systems in place.</li>
