Repeat buyers are one of the strongest measures of confidence in any apartment development.

Keith Wilton had spent years living in a house in East Maitland before deciding it was time for a change. Apartment living had always been on his radar, but he was selective about what he wanted.

For Aimee and Lyle Goodman, the journey started almost by chance.

According to the awards submission, the interiors were designed from the inside out, prioritising how homes would function over decades of daily use through generous proportions, practical storage, durable natural materials and flexible layouts.

The specification includes natural stone throughout, upgraded acoustic glazing, V-ZUG appliances and fully enclosed storage rooms, alongside an amenity offering focused on wellness, entertainment and everyday convenience.&nbsp;

The apartment price gap drawing Sydney buyers west

A luxury beachfront apartment at Rainbow Bay has more than doubled in value since it sold off the plan six years ago, setting a new local apartment record in the process.

The three-bedroom apartment in the Flow development on Petrie Street, the first of four new projects locally by Paul Gedoun's S&amp;S Projects, has sold for $7.4 million, after originally selling for $3.27 million when the project launched in 2020.

The seventh-floor apartment, comprising 187 sqm of internal living space and a 54 sqm balcony overlooking Froggies Beach and Snapper Rocks, was purchased by a local family.

The transaction was negotiated by Pezet Matheson director Kerry Pezet and equates to more than $30,000 per sqm.

Pezet said the sale reflected the limited opportunities to buy into the boutique beachfront development.

"The sale highlights the rarity of opportunities within the boutique beachfront development, where residences seldom become available," Pezet said.

"Flow is one of the Gold Coast's most tightly held buildings. Buyers from our database move quickly when residences become available, and achieving an off-market sale at $7.4 million demonstrates the depth of demand for property of this calibre."

A South Yarra apartment that belonged to the late 1940s Melbourne Lord Mayor Sir Francis Raymond Connelly fetched $1.22 million at recent auction, nicely above its $1.05 million reserve.
His widow Lady Patricia lived at the two bedroom top floor Domain Road from 1949 until her death last year. 
He served three terms as lord mayor in the 1940s. 
Connelly was a progressive reformer who supported a Greater Melbourne planning authority seeking a 'brighter' city, urging the relaxation of laws on liquor and shopping hours and even Sunday entertainment. 
He was prominent in the development of the Lord Mayor's Camp at Portsea.
In 1948 Connelly was knighted, then shortly after he married 27-year-old Patricia Anne Holschier.
They travelled to London where Connelly began the campaign which was to secure the Olympic Games for Melbourne in 1956.
One of Connelly's last acts was to light a replica of the Olympic torch following the 1949 announcement that Melbourne had been awarded the Games.
He died days later with 2000 attending his requiem mass celebrated by Archbishop Mannix.
Connelly's estate was sworn for probate at £41,750.

Adman Scott Whybin, the former boss of Whybin/TBWA, has emerged as the $11 million buyer of a luxury bachelor pad penthouse in South Yarra.
The Rothelowman designed apartment sits atop the Hawskburn development built for developer Peter Gibson by Crema Constructions.
Gibson has been developing high-end apartments, houses and townhouses for more than 35 years in Toorak and South Yarra, and has recently moved into delivering larger-scale projects, still targeting luxury owner-occupiers, with his son, Christo.
The $11 million sale came with an eight-car basement garage with private lift up to the 650sq m space on the fourth floor.
It has just the three bedrooms and three bathrooms with floor to ceiling glass offering 360 degree views of the city sklyine.
He has been a longtime South Yarra local since making the move south from Newcastle, via Sydney and London.
Whybin founded the advertising agency Whybin\TBWA resigning last year after 21 year. It came a year after he'd been inducted into the AdNews Hall of Fame.

Wayne Gillespie designed South Yarra home sold

Telstra chief executive officer Andy Penn is selling his South Yarra home.
It was bought new seven years ago for $2.35 million.
The UK-born executive migrated to Melbourne in 1992 and joined Telstra in 2012 as their chief financial officer.
He expects between $3 million to $3.3 million for the Peter Street home at its September 2 auction.

Andy Penn, the Telstra CEO, lists South Yarra house

The international interior designer Thomas Hamel has bought a South Yarra bolthole.
The Hawksburn Road home cost $2.06 million.
Hamel retains a $2.9 million Illawarra coastal retreat outside Sydney. The Otford coastal property was bought from the former Premier of NSW Nick Grenier and his ex-wife, and former Mayor of Sydney, Kathryn Grenier.
His former Sydney weekend was recently onsold by the former managing director of Goldman Sachs Australia Robert Tsenin and wife Estelle at Killcare Heights.
The couple secured $1.45 million having paid $1.47 million in 2003 when it was bought from Hamel and the antique dealer Martyn Cook.
In 2015 Hamel has sold his flat in the Sydney CBD block, Broughton House to financier Simon Mordant and his wife Catriona - bought fully furnished through Christies International.
He lists New York - his home up until 30 years ago - London, Paris and Istanbul as the best cities in the world in which to discover treasures.
But he also has had a soft spot for Melbourne.
Since setting up Thomas Hamel &amp; Associates in Sydney in 1993, he has worked with a who’s who of Australian society, designing interiors for clients in Melbourne, Sydney, Palm Beach and Portsea and, even their holiday houses in glamorous locales such as the south of France, London, Florida, Hawaii and Colorado. One of his first clients were Malcolm and Lucy Turnbull.

Rocky's fruit and veg wholesaler Daniel D'Andrea has bought a grand Edwardian home in the sought after Como House precinct in South Yarra.
He has paid $11.1 million for the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-vic-south+yarra-123454670" target="_blank">Fulham Avenue home</a> that sits on two titles covering a sprawling 2240 sqm.
The home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. There is a self-contained apartment.
A championship size tennis court and swimming pool sit in the grounds.

RT Edgar agents Jeremy Fox and Oliver Booth sold the home which was on the market for over 550 days with various agents.
They initially priced the home on their initial listing at between $12 million and $14 million in September last year.
Late last year the home next door was bought by Swisse vitamins chief executive officer Radek Sali for $12.5 million from Stokehouse restaurant owners Frank And Sharon Van Haandel, who have since bought the Toorak home of veteran caterer Peter Rowland.

South Yarra trophy home sells for over $11 million

Malaysian-backed developer Beulah International is looking to well and truly underline the push by many of Melbourne's developers into the luxury apartment market by reworking an approved scheme for a prime Toorak Road land holding.

Currently at planning, Beulah International have chosen to scrap an earlier approved BDLC-designed project involving 37 apartments in favour of 10 grand-sized dwellings. Spanning 146 -150 Toorak Road West, the developer paid $17.5 million for the 1,784sqm site during 2016 and now holds the land under subsidiary Toorak Road West Project Pty Ltd.

The permit had the potential to be reconfigured to 14 oversized apartments, although Beulah International have gone further in eyeing 10 massive apartments.

Prahran-based Robert Mills Architects has assumed control over the project's design trajectory, facilitating a complete redesign and in the process shaving an entire floor off the approved envelope.

The sheer size of each apartment highlights Beulah International's lofty expectations for the project when it eventually reaches sales. It will invariably be billed as one of Melbourne's most sought after and tightly held addresses, with expansive floorplans to match.

3 bedroom apartments are slated to have internals between 260sqm and 313sqm, with four bedroom apartments spaced between 389sqm and 381sqm. Add outdoor terraces and the largest combined space on offer comes in at a hefty 478sqm.

According to planning documents, all apartments will have tiled bathrooms, carpeted bedrooms and timber floors to kitchens, living, sitting and all other areas. The dual top floor apartments have perforated concrete slabs which allow natural light to penetrate into various living spaces; these voids double as sculptural features.
