Hirsch & Faigen unveils The Eveleigh in Broadbeach

Two years after securing development approval for the final stage of its award-winning Thornton Precinct on the doorstep of Penrith Station, Urban Property Group is set to launch <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/mayfair-on-penrith-172-lord-sheffield-circuit-penrith-nsw-2750">Mayfair on Penrith</a>, around 400 apartments designed to reflect two of Sydney’s most iconic structures.

The builder-developer has continued refining the design plans for the two-building development on a significant 8,280 sqm site on Sheffield Circuit, recognising the importance of the prime parcel as one of the closest developable sites to the station.

UPG enlisted architecture firm SJB to design the project. The team said they drew inspiration from both the General Post Office in Martin Place and East Circular Quay to help shape the design. The two-level colonnade, in particular, reflects the famous GPO building, which dates back to the 1860s.

Brandon, who specifically targeted Queenstown as an investment location, said the combination of price point and limited new supply made Mountain Oak stand out.

“It is a quality product in a location that struggles to densify,” he said, referencing Queenstown’s land-locked geography and development limitations.

Having spent significant time in the region, Brandon pointed to its global reputation and consistent visitation as key fundamentals.

“Queenstown is a known destination from people all over the world. The place is land locked and there are issues building there. It’s also busy all year round.”

Sherry, a repeat Safari Group buyer, said her previous experience with the developer provided confidence to secure another apartment.

“Their developments have always finished on time, the quality has been high, and I didn't feel that my investment may be at risk,” she said. “Knowledge of the developer and our two existing Safari apartments gave us the confidence to proceed with this one.”

Safari Group has delivered more than 2,000 hotel units and residential apartments nationally and is now undertaking its fifth Queenstown development, reinforcing buyer confidence in delivery capability.

Although Sherry was not initially targeting Queenstown due to its price profile, prior visits reshaped her view of the market.

The Minns Labor Government is today unveiling a game-changing new precinct at Bays West – delivering up to 8,500 well-located homes, including a minimum of 10 per cent affordable and essential worker homes - directly above the new Bays West Metro Station currently under construction.

The landmark transformation will convert underutilised government-owned port land on the Harbour into Sydney’s newest suburb, while retaining important deep-water port facilities to support Sydney’s working harbour.

Located just minutes from the Sydney CBD and connected to a world-class metro, ferry, walking and cycling links, the Bays West precinct will rebalance housing growth towards well-serviced inner-city locations and help tackle the state’s housing crisis.

Affordable housing will be embedded from the outset, including dedicated homes for essential workers such as nurses, teachers, paramedics, firefighters and police so they can live closer to the communities they serve.

The precinct will combine new housing with public open space, opening public access to the waterfront for the first time in more than 100 years.

Night-time entertainment and creative industries will be anchored by the revitalisation of the historic White Bay Power Station as a cultural and community destination, connected to the harbour across a new expansive public forecourt.

Planning of the area will prioritise connectivity, including active transport links to neighbouring communities such as Rozelle, Balmain and Glebe, improved pedestrian access to the waterfront, and connections to the CBD, including an active transport link across the Glebe Island Bridge.

The Government will lead a master planning process that will include an international design competition to guide development across the precinct, ensuring homes, essential infrastructure, jobs, public spaces and transport links are delivered together.

It will be led by a new delivery agency to be established over the coming weeks, which will report to Minister Kamper who already has oversight of major precinct renewal projects including at Blackwattle Bay and Barangaroo. Once established, the publicly owned land in the precinct will be transferred to the new agency.

This is the first new suburb that has been built in inner Sydney in decades, it will see homes built alongside the Bays West Metro Station ensuring young people, families and downsizers are only minutes away from the CBD. As part of the transformation of the Bays West precinct, bulk port operations – including cement, gypsum and sugar handling – will cease on Glebe Island by no later than 2030.

The Government will work closely with industry to minimise impacts and ensure the continuity of supply. This includes a commitment of $270 million to improve road connections around the port at Port Kembla and to investigate increased rail freight capacity.

Working harbour operations across the precinct will be consolidated, mostly into White Bay, ensuring the precinct will continue to provide critical services for the harbour, including boat maintenance and marine construction and as a base for tug boats and for emergency services.

A new staging area will be established in White Bay, securing the future of the New Year’s Eve fireworks, Vivid and other major events for decades to come.

The cruise terminal will be retained in its current location, meaning tourists arriving in Sydney will be welcomed by the new precinct, with new shore-power facilities currently being installed that will reduce noise and emissions. The Sydney Heritage Fleet will also be offered new premises in White Bay.

Deep-water berths will be retained to preserve Sydney Harbour’s strategic operational capability, and the removal of the existing 1970s industrial silos, currently used as a billboard, as well as to store cement and sugar, will unlock new opportunities for public space and future housing.

“Right above a new metro station and minutes from the CBD, we’re delivering thousands of homes where people actually need them - close to work, close to services and close to transport,"&nbsp;Premier of New South Wales Chris Minns said.

“Importantly, this precinct will include affordable and essential worker housing from day one, so nurses, teachers, paramedics and police can live closer to the communities they serve.

A single headquarters with high densities in an open plan environment no longer seems like the best idea post-COVID-19. We’re predicting that employers will need to cater for a distributed workforce and provide multiple working environments, that could be a company HQ, home and third spaces. Work-life balance, commute times and the rising cost of living means that working closer to home has long been a priority for many employees. But not everybody’s home is going to be an appropriate work environment, and many employees crave the social and community aspects of the workplace, so the blending of the two will be essential.

Not only will flexible working become the new norm, but coworking providers will need to innovate their offering. Designed by Bates Smart, the space underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment to create a coworking space with Palm Spring-like influences
Over five tonne of custom breezeblocks are used throughout, in screens, walls and joinery, referencing the existing concrete waffle slab and ground floor lobby brickwork.
Hub Parliament Station offers its members access to a range of workspaces including bespoke offices for up to 14 people, private offices, open plan dedicated and flexible desks, break out areas, high-tech meeting and event spaces.
Additional amenities include a fully serviced café operated by Hub Australia’s dedicated in-house hospitality team, large serviced meeting rooms, member kitchen and lounge, fitness space, end-of-trip facilities with towel service, parent and wellness rooms.
A media studio is also made available to all members which includes a full suite of podcasting equipment as well as the latest in Virtual Reality equipment.

Hub Australia opens first skyscraper coworking space, Hub Parliament Station in Melbourne

Co-working organisation <a href="https://www.hubaustralia.com">Hub Australia</a> has recently acquired one of Sydney’s most sought-after commercial spaces, both levels 3 &amp; 4 of Customs House. The new site will bring the national reach of Hub Australia to seven locations including Sydney, <a href="/news/hub-australia-launches-2nd-melbourne-coworking-space-on-collins-street">Melbourne</a>, Adelaide and Brisbane, spanning across an impressive 21,000 square metres.

Last year saw a staggering increase in shared working facilities across Australia, with more space being leased to co-working companies in 2018 than the previous three years combined.

Hub Australia acquires sought-after space in Sydney’s Customs House

Hub Australia this week launched the second of its Melbourne coworking spaces within the historic Georges Building. Located at 162 Collins Street, the new space joins Hub Australia's Melbourne flagship, Hub Southern Cross which occupies part of the 1917 Mail Exchange opposite Southern Cross Station. Together these two spaces account for half of Hub Australia's national footprint of 20,000 sqm.

The Georges Building was once home to the prestigious Georges Department Store from 1889 before ceasing trade in 1995, and continues Hub Australia’s focus of transforming iconic buildings into premium coworking spaces. Hub Australia intends the coworking space will create opportunities for growing businesses to base themselves on Collins Street, but without the cost associated with a Collins Street address.

Hub Collins Street has a variety of workspaces to cater for up to 600 members including bespoke offices, private offices and open plan dedicated and flexible desks. Targeting the growing corporate market or project teams, a bespoke office on level two overlooking Little Collins has 40 desks, including two internal offices. There are also additional offices ranging suitable for two to twenty-four people configurations.

The Hub Collins Street provides a further nine bespoke suites to ‘Georges Lane’, the original retail arcade located on the mezzanine level which has been transformed into a laneway linking Collins Street and Little Collins Street. These fully secure and furnished suites are suitable for teams of 12 – 18 people supported by internal meeting rooms or offices, and come complete with their own dedicated reception area with signage that draws on the building’s retail history.

Heritage features such as previously blocked off fireplaces, original scaffolding and lift level indicators have been restored as part of the refurbishment.  Art deco retail counters and display cabinets discovered from during the building's retail past have also been restored and incorporated throughout the new fit out.

Additional amenity in the coworking space includes serviced meeting spaces and a state-of-the-art boardroom, parents’ facilities, soundproof phone booths, gym, premium end-of-trip facilities with complimentary towel service, generously sized lockers and bike storage facilities.

Hub Australia launches 2nd Melbourne coworking space on Collins Street

Hub Australia has announced it has secured its first site in Brisbane.
It is a 3,900 square metre space at 200 Adelaide Street which is part of the Anzac Square heritage complex.
Entering the Brisbane market for the first time, Hub Australia will take three levels at Charter Hall’s AnzacSquare building.
It comes with direct access to Central Station and a rooftop café. 
The new coworking space, opening in late 2018, follows recent announcements regarding new locations at 162 Collins Street, Melbourne (3,500sqm), 1 Nicholson Street, Melbourne (2,700sqm), and the opening last week of Hub Australia’s new Sydney space, some 4,800sqm located at 223 Liverpool Street. 
This will take Hub Australia’s national footprint to over 20,000sqm, said Hub Australia CEO and Founder, Brad Krauskopf.

John Preece, Chief Property Officer at Hub Australia, commented that while Brisbane is home to 11% of Australia’s citybased population, and 13% of the national CBD office stock, from a coworking perspective only 4% of the national footprint is located here.
"That tells us the market is completely under serviced from a capacity perspective, and there is definitely demand for high quality coworking spaces.”
