<p>Melbourne developer Spacious Group has completed Voyage Altona, one of the closest new apartment developments to Altona Beach.</p>

<p>Homecorp has secured approval for a $360 million apartment development at Budds Beach, paving the way for one of the Gold Coast's most amenity-rich residential projects to launch later this year.</p>

<p>Gold Coast City Council has approved Lýon Residences, a 32-level tower that will deliver 178 two and three-bedroom apartments across a prominent corner site at 8-10 Acacia Avenue and 25-27 Oak Avenue.</p>

<p>The approval comes as developers continue to invest in premium lifestyle-driven apartment projects on the Gold Coast, where owner occupiers are increasingly prioritising amenity as much as apartment size and location.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/l-on-residences-25-27-oak-avenue-surfers-paradise-qld-4217">Lýon Residences</a> has been designed around a resort-style wellness offering, headlined by a Moroccan-inspired spa precinct featuring treatment rooms, a Nordic sauna and steam room, hot and cold plunge pools, a soaking pool and a residents-only juice bar.</p>

<p>Homecorp Founder and CEO Ron Bakir said Budds Beach provided the ideal location for the company's latest luxury apartment project.</p>

<p>Iwan Sunito's vision for a landmark mixed-use precinct in Sydney's Inner West has taken a major step forward, with approval granted for the $1.9 billion Five Dock development first unveiled earlier this year.</p>

<p>The approved scheme by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/one-global-capital">One Global Capital</a> will deliver an 80,500 sqm mixed-use precinct comprising 840 apartments, integrated hotel accommodation, commercial and retail space, alongside publicly accessible open space designed to create a new destination for the growing suburb.</p>

<p>"This is a significant milestone for One Global Capital and for the future of housing delivery in Sydney," Sunito said.</p>

<p>"The Housing Delivery Authority was established to identify major housing projects capable of delivering meaningful supply more efficiently, and we are delighted that Spencer Street has been recognised as one of those projects.”</p>

<p>He said the declaration reflected the rapid progress achieved since acquiring control of the site.</p>

<p>"In less than seven months we have progressed from taking control of the site to securing entry into one of the NSW Government's most important planning pathways. It reflects the experience of our team, the strength of our consultant group led by Urbis, and our long-term commitment to delivering transformational projects that contribute to Sydney's future."</p>

<p>When the project was revealed earlier this year, Sunito described the opportunity as one of the strongest development sites he had worked on.</p>

<p>"I probably hadn't appreciated the uniqueness of the site until more recently when putting together the concept plans," Sunito said.</p>

<p>"The proximity to the water, and the golf course opposite, is unlike any other part of Parramatta Road. We have a unique position and view corridors over the water that makes this one of the best sites I've worked on."</p>

<p>The development has evolved since its initial announcement, with the approved plans increasing the residential component from the originally proposed 750 apartments to 840 homes while retaining the project's focus on creating an integrated neighbourhood rather than a standalone residential development.</p>

<p>Takada previously said the design was driven by a philosophy of integrating nature into the built environment.</p>

<p>"The concept for this development is born from our design approach to naturalising architecture," Takada said.</p>

<p>"The public realm benefits from biophilic design that integrates generous landscaping, and the development is optimised for natural daylight, airflow and water views to foster wellbeing, sustainability and spaces that foster community interaction."</p>

<p>Sunito has consistently described the project as a "city within a city", with a strong emphasis on creating a destination that extends beyond housing.</p>

<p>"We want to create a development that's not only to be seen, but to be experienced by the whole local community," he said.</p>

<p>The approval comes as Five Dock continues its transformation ahead of the opening of the Sydney Metro West line, with the new Five Dock station set to significantly improve connections between the Inner West, Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The precinct will also benefit from its proximity to the Parramatta Road corridor, nearby waterfront parklands and established retail and dining offerings that have made Five Dock one of Sydney's most tightly held Inner West suburbs.</p>


Iwan Sunito secures approval for $1.9 billion Five Dock mixed-use precinct

<p>The infamous Bourbon nightclub in Kings Cross is set for demolition following a redevelopment proposal for a $47 million luxury eight storey apartment block.</p>
<p>It would be the end of an era for the standalone hotel that comes with more folklore than any other in Sydney since being opened in 1967 by Bernie Houghton.</p>
<p>The <span class="m_-4462631763877072612gmail-il">Bourbon</span> premises, initially the haunt of US servicemen on R&amp;R, then colourful underworld Sydney identities, more recently had a reputation for late night sporting star fistacuffs as it was among Sydney's first seven days 24-hour licenced premises.</p>
<p>It was in the late 1990s when cricketer Ricky Ponting, four years after his Test debut, was involved in a fight which left him with a black eye. Drag queen Carlotta happily gave her insights into the night to the inquiring news hounds.</p>
<p>"Everyone who drank there has a Bourbon &amp; Beefsteak story," writer Paul Ham once suggested, adding Ponting's "sobering experience helped put the young cricketer back on the path to greatness."</p>
<p>Local novelist Louis Nowra wrote that between 1988 and 1996 the Kings Cross police were called to the venue no fewer than 550 times.</p>

<p>But having spent $66 million on his substantial five building site amalgamation, developer Sam Arnaout isn't sentimental instead seeing himself as the king of the emerging residential rejuvenation of the Darlinghurst Road strip. </p>
<p>The only nod to the past in the proposed plans was keeping the curved facade of the former 1965 Les Girls hotel, in accordance with Sydney City Council's determination of its supposed significance.</p>
<p>Arnaout's Iris Capital proposes 83 apartments and 101 car parking spaces, plus retail premises and two licensed bars. It is proposed the reincarnated Bourbon will have up to 400 patrons and the Empire some 920, as it the mixed use application seeks to navigate the twin outcomes of liquor outlets and quiet residential living.</p>
<p>Residents point out the nearby Rex, on the other side of the fountain, did not keep its barn style liquor outlet in its residential redevelopment by the O'Neil family.</p>

<p>It will will undergo total restoration, renovation and refurbishment. </p>
<p>Steller's Nicholas Smedley said the building works will complement and enhance the existing heritage.</p>
<p>It seems Steller had a close eye on the historic hotel since Julian announced plans for restoration. </p>
<p>Julian Gerner acquired the hotel early in 2015, purchased a neighboring parcel of land and obtained heritage and planning approvals to redevelop the site earlier this year.</p>
<p>"I am very proud to be the new custodian of the Continental Hotel and to breathe life back into a Sorrento landmark,” Smedley said. </p>
<p>Construction commences in 2018 with plans for a soft launch in the summer of 2018/2019.</p>
<p>Located at 1-21 Ocean Beach Road, the Continental Hotel is believed to be the largest limestone structure in the Southern hemisphere.</p>
<p>It is National Trust-listed having been built in 1875 by the ‘Father of Sorrento’ comedian, actor, entrepreneur and politician, George Coppin.</p>

The Schaller Studio officially rebranded as Quest property in Bendigo

<p>The grand Mornington Peninsula landmark, the 1875-built Continental Hotel is set to be listed for sale.</p>
<p>It is being marketed through CBRE and Sotheby's International with reputed $20 million hopes.</p>
<p>"‘The Continental Hotel - one of the Australia’s best mixed use development opportunities - is about to hit the market with all the hard work completed," Sotheby's agent <a href="https://ink361.com/app/users/1474484720/peninsulaproperties/photos/1634081677990916368_1474484720" target="_blank">Rob Curtain advised his Instagram followers</a>.</p>
<p>The hotel is being offered by the hotelier Julian Gerner, who acquired it for $15 million plus mid-last year.</p>
<p><span>Gerner had plans of adding a apartment building, a wellness centre and cafe, yoga deck, lap pool, along with 38 new hotel rooms, a modern public bar, an up-market restaurant, and two function rooms, aimed at the peninsula’s booming tourism, wedding, golf and winery tour markets.</span></p>
<p><span>He told the local paper earlier this year that </span>he would “absolutely see through” after approvals have been received.</p>
<p class="p2">“We took the case to VCAT and are pleased they found in our favour,” he said.</p>
<p class="p2">“I’ll have to start raising the money now but, mostly, my part is done for a while.</p>
<p class="p2">“The finance side is far too technical for me and will be done by others. Works will start when [the project] is fully funded.”</p>
<p class="p2">Gerner, who runs restaurants and a wine store opposite the Sorrento foreshore, <span>made a name at the Melbourne Pub Group before sea-changing to </span><span>Sorrento</span>.</p>
<p class="p2">The Continental Hotel closed in May for its redevelopment.</p>
<p>Prospective buyers have been advised the vendor of The Continental Hotel was interested to take up a long term lease over the hospitality and commercial components of the completed Continental development.</p>
<p>The operation would include the hotel, restaurant, cafe, car park, retail, bottle shop, wellness centre and pool facility.</p>

Sorrento's Continental Hotel makes quick return to market with VCAT approvals

<p>AccorHotels will take over the management of Crowne Plaza Adelaide and rebrand the hotel to Pullman Adelaide.</p>
<p>The change comes into effect 1 October 2017.</p>
<p>The hotel, 16 Hindmarsh Square has 308 guestrooms, restaurant and bar as well as meeting room facilities. It will become AccorHotels’ 15th Pullman hotel in Australia. </p>

AccorHotels take over Crowne Plaza Adelaide management, announce rebrand

<p>Asian travellers, mainly from China, Japan and Malaysia, drove double digit growth in both Visitors and Visitor Nights, according to Savills’ latest Hotel Market report.</p>
<p>For the year to date 2017, Sydney had the highest Average Daily Rate (ADR) at $227.24 with an occupancy of 85.8 percent, well above the national average occupant of 74.5 percent and ADR of $185.06.</p>
<p>Growth was impressive for most cities, with Cairns at the top with an ADR growth of 7.4 percent followed by Canberra at 6.6 percent.</p>
<p>Sydney had a 5.5 percent growth, but Melbourne’s was surprisingly low at just 1.1 percent.</p>
<p>Among the capital cities, only Perth, Brisbane and Darwin showed falls in their ADRs with Perth highest with an 8.4 percent drop.</p>
