Melbourne developer Spacious Group has completed Voyage Altona, one of the closest new apartment developments to Altona Beach.

Off the plan purchasers have started moving into the 49-apartment project on Pier Street, with the remaining move-in-ready one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments starting from just over $500,000.

Gold Coast City Council has approved Lýon Residences, a 32-level tower that will deliver 178 two and three-bedroom apartments across a prominent corner site at 8-10 Acacia Avenue and 25-27 Oak Avenue.

The approval comes as developers continue to invest in premium lifestyle-driven apartment projects on the Gold Coast, where owner occupiers are increasingly prioritising amenity as much as apartment size and location.

Homecorp Founder and CEO Ron Bakir said Budds Beach provided the ideal location for the company's latest luxury apartment project.

Iwan Sunito's vision for a landmark mixed-use precinct in Sydney's Inner West has taken a major step forward, with approval granted for the $1.9 billion Five Dock development first unveiled earlier this year.

The approved scheme by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/one-global-capital">One Global Capital</a> will deliver an 80,500 sqm mixed-use precinct comprising 840 apartments, integrated hotel accommodation, commercial and retail space, alongside publicly accessible open space designed to create a new destination for the growing suburb.

"This is a significant milestone for One Global Capital and for the future of housing delivery in Sydney," Sunito said.

"The Housing Delivery Authority was established to identify major housing projects capable of delivering meaningful supply more efficiently, and we are delighted that Spencer Street has been recognised as one of those projects.”

He said the declaration reflected the rapid progress achieved since acquiring control of the site.

"In less than seven months we have progressed from taking control of the site to securing entry into one of the NSW Government's most important planning pathways. When the project was revealed earlier this year, Sunito described the opportunity as one of the strongest development sites he had worked on.

"The proximity to the water, and the golf course opposite, is unlike any other part of Parramatta Road. We have a unique position and view corridors over the water that makes this one of the best sites I've worked on."

The development has evolved since its initial announcement, with the approved plans increasing the residential component from the originally proposed 750 apartments to 840 homes while retaining the project's focus on creating an integrated neighbourhood rather than a standalone residential development.

The approval comes as Five Dock continues its transformation ahead of the opening of the Sydney Metro West line, with the new Five Dock station set to significantly improve connections between the Inner West, Parramatta and the Sydney CBD.&nbsp;

The precinct will also benefit from its proximity to the Parramatta Road corridor, nearby waterfront parklands and established retail and dining offerings that have made Five Dock one of Sydney's most tightly held Inner West suburbs.

Portsea Hotel's $7 million facelift - with yoga lessons on offer

Art Series Hotels is set to open its first new property since it joined the AccorHotels family.
The $60 million project at Howard Smith Wharves, Brisbane will open in March 2019 and will be the brand's eighth in total.
The 166 room, six storey hotel will be situated close to the Story Bridge.
The brand draws its design inspiration from contemporary Australian artists and includes custom contemporary furnishings and original artworks.
Launched in 2009, it was privately owned by the Deague family until it was acquired by Mantra last year.
AccorHotels Pacific Chief Operating Officer Simon McGrath said the area’s transformation into an entertainment and lifestyle precinct will be important for the project.

Art Series Hotels to open at Howard Smith Wharves, Brisbane next March

The American hotel giant Hilton has picked Parramatta for a new 245-room luxury hotel, in a move harshly described by the Australian Financial Review as an "unlikely location".
Located 25 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD, Parramatta is a major business and commercial hub and a growing destination for business events.
The new hotel will replace the former AMP building at 20 Macquarie Street, which was once the tallest building in Parramatta.
It will be demolished with construction of a 90-metre building to kick off in 2020.
There are more than 540 Hilton hotels around the world.
Western Sydney Business Chamber director David Borger welcomed the news.
“I think we’ve really arrived as a city when we have brands like Hilton considering business here,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“It used to be that if a city had a cathedral they’re doing well, but now it’s about getting Apple or Hilton.”
Ledrae Hotels director Lionel Chang says he is thrilled to be bringing Hilton to Parramatta.
“We have owned the building on the corner of Macquarie Street and Marsden Street since 1994 and look forward to this exciting transformation,” he says.

Following its acquisition of Emporium Hotel in January, the Ovolo Hotel Group has announced Brisbane’s newest hotel will open as Ovolo The Valley in November.
Rooms at the hotel will start from $300 per night.
The project is being undertaken by the architecture firm Woods Bagot.
The Fortitude Valley location will draw guests into a "whimsical oasis of colour, art, and surprising hints of quirk", curated throughout its 103 rooms.
CEO and Chairman of the Ovolo Group, Girish Jhunjhnuwala (pictured below) says Ovolo has invested approximately $55 million.
“There are many new comers to the Brisbane hotel market, but Ovolo’s biggest point of difference is our exceptional customer service and design,” he said.
“There is an element of fantasy, escapism and play in The Valley.
"We’re positioning it as the perfect contemporary oasis to escape our busy urban lives.”

Following on from the Ovolo Inchcolm opening last year at Spring Hill, it will be the group’s second hotel.
Woods Bagot’s Bronwyn McColl, says the design of Ovolo The Valley celebrates Fortitude Valley’s eclectic mix. 
“We started by exploring the spaces behind The Valley’s indiscernible facades and the spaces in-between and translated them into playful yet sophisticated experiences that take the Ovolo guest by surprise – including the most incredible rock star suites in honour of the late David Bowie with 1970s inspired velvet lounges and a gold bar for those who dare!” said McColl.

<a href="https://ovolohotels.com.au/ovolothevalley/" target="_blank">Ovolo The Valley</a> will work by Woods Bagot in collaboration with former Brisbanite, Chloe Want from AvroKO in New York, will continue on the hotel’s standalone restaurant and bar concept to open on the ground level of the property early next year. 
Food and drink is a big part of the Ovolo Hotel Group concept, with award-winning restaurants at their other Australian properties, including; Alibi at Ovolo Woolloomooloo (Sydney) fronted by restauranteur Matthew Kenney, and Monster Kitchen &amp; Bar at Ovolo Nishi (Canberra).
The group recently opened Mister Percy at Ovolo 1888 (Sydney), a Mediterranean-style wine bar fronted by renowned chef Justin North.

Melbourne's Studio Ongarato has been awarded Best Ceiling Design for Jackalope Hotel’s Doot Doot Doot at Restaurant and Bar Design Awards in London.
Creative director Fabio Ongarato said it's a tremendous honour.
“The ceiling design forms a central component in the immersive experience and thematic narrative at Jackalope.
"To have the studio’s work on Doot Doot Doot recognised by the design community internationally is a tremendous honour.”
The Prahran-based design studio were engaged to establish the Jackalope in Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula by hotelier Louis Li.
He wanted a strong thematic framework – a vision realised through an immersive journey of dramatic statements and intimate shared experiences.
Studio Ongarato engaged Australian lighting manufacturer, Jan Flook, to bring the ceiling concept to life, in line with the narrative journey through the site and the conceptual approach to dining.
In addition to winning the ceiling category, the Installation was also shortlisted for the Best Lighting Award.

In the Doot Doot Doot restaurant, the Fermentation Installation features 10,000 incandescent globes. With sequenced programming tailored to various times of the day, the bulbs intermittently flare and fade to evoke an experience of bubbles bursting on a surface; an ode to the fermentation process in both the ancient art of alchemy and winemaking. 
The globes shift from a simple light source to a golden, textural piece of art as waves of light wash the ceiling, wrapping diners below in an amber glow. This injects the space with emotional resonance that nuanced site-specific lighting design brings.
The practical requirements to minimise the depth of the fixture and to conceal technology in the open ceiling cavity, whilst remaining true to the concept narrative, added a degree of design difficultly. 
In addition, in keeping with Australia’s energy restrictions only minimal energy consumption was allowed over the entire 81sqm, resulting in a sustainable lighting solution using LED vintage Edison globes.
 It also had to be versatile enough to allow multiple dining options below while still providing a functional warm and soft light emission.

Studio Ongarato take out best ceiling design award for Jackalope Hotel restaurant

The Laundy hotelier family is behind a new $45 million hotel and brewery coming to the Sydney Business Park in Marsden Park.
To be known as The Marsden, it will add to the group’s stable of about 29 hotels, pubs, bars and hospitality venues across Sydney. 
The brewery will allow patrons to tour the facility and taste the beers onsite.
Other amenities at the hotel will include a bistro, bars, gaming room, function centre, a modern state-of-the-art children’s playground, an outdoor sports lounge, a conference and function centre and TAB facilities. 
The new 256 hectare business park is currently about 20% complete with approximately $600 million in investment to date.
The broader project is expected to bring $3 billion in investment and around 30,000 jobs to the area.
Laundy Hotels Managing Director Arthur Laundy said the hotel will be a draw card for Western Sydney.
“We believe this hotel will be a destination hotel where people from all over Sydney will travel to it,” he said.
“We wanted to create a precinct in which the communities of Western Sydney can be truly proud and enjoy for generations to come. I have every confidence the local communities won’t be disappointed. 
“People from all over Sydney will be attracted to this precinct. It will become a vibrant, stylish and sophisticated new hospitality venue and function centre which is a much needed amenity in Sydney’s rapidly growing western communities.  
“Today, our construction company FDC has worked tremendously well to be months ahead of schedule to mark the topping out of our 5,900sqm facility which is due to open to the public in February 2019.”
“I look forward to buying them all a beer in a couple of months. They’ve done a tremendous job with zero injuries on site and for that I am incredibly thankful.”
