Developer Leeka has received the green light for its new Prahran project, providing a rare opportunity to live opposite Australia’s oldest-running food market, Prahran Market.

Located at 182-194 Commercial Road, on the corner of Izett Street, Leeka will create a mixed-use development that will complement the iconic Prahran Market with retail, dining and public amenity, in addition to a residential offering that explores multi-dimensional wellness.

Designed by renowned architects Cera Stribley, the development will be known as Comme Prahran and will blend heritage and modern architecture across eight levels, featuring a collection of 32 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom residences.

Comme Prahran will incorporate the existing structure, a two-storey Edwardian-era retail hub characterised by its interwar old English style. It will be preserved and woven into the contemporary design of the project.

The project’s commitment to health and wellbeing, art, sustainability, and technology will further be revealed through various yet-to-be-announced offerings.

Leeka Director Chek Ming Cheng said the project’s blend of Prahran’s rich history and vibrant future is what makes it unique.

Prahran has long been a cosmopolitan hub, known for its vibrant dining, retail and social life alongside a strong community spirit," Cheng said.

"Its connection to the CBD, green spaces and public transport makes it a natural choice for people seeking both convenience and culture. Comme Prahran will create a contemporary place with a timeless character, blending heritage and modern design to foster creativity and inclusivity."

Chosen for its wealth of experience and knowledge within the Stonnington area, Cera Stribley Managing Principal Domenic Cerantonio said the practice was excited to work with the team on its Prahran offering.

“What makes this brief special is its focus on creating a vibrant, integrated community hub that celebrates Prahran's past while embracing its future," Cerantonio said.

"As a firm with deep roots in Prahran, this project was particularly meaningful to us, and we are excited to work alongside Leeka to bring their vision to life.”

Leeka, in partnership with Prime Edition, recently launched Avoca in South Yarra, comprising five whole- floor residences and one standalone house.
