Illiac, the wainscoted Hamptons-like Somers residence on a 1,965-squaremetre beachfront estate, has been sold by the Koco family.

Set in sculptured coastal gardens, the secluded property is just minutes from Point Leo surf lifesaving club, Somers Yacht Club and all of the vineyard restaurants and golf courses that the Mornington Peninsula is noted for.

With Californian timber beams along with tongue-and-groove panelling, the four-bedroom house was Stephen Akehurst designed, complete with clifftop horizon pool and entertaining deck.

There are five fireplaces underneath the western red cedar shingled roof. There’s also a boathouse with kitchenette plus private jetty. It has views across bay to Phillip Island, Seal Rock and Nobbies.

Michael Phoenix of RT Edgar Flinders was seeking a $5.9 million Somers record, and he’s not saying what price was secured. The land last traded at $900,000 in 1999.
