A former milk bar-cum-renovated three-bedroom abode on the border of Prahran and Windsor sold at weekend auction for $1,135,000.

It had been listed with a price guide of $940,000 to $1.05 million. Bidding started at $1 million and at around $1.1 million, the Lewisham Road property was called as on the market.

It was interior designer Phillip Chester who purchased the property in 2001 and transformed the property into a livable residence over the next decade with inspiration drawn from Europe.

The home, that features French doors to a north-facing courtyard, archways and rustic tiling, had fantastic finishes, its selling agent Andrew James of Hocking Stuart Real Estate Armadale said.

The 186-square-metre property also includes a self-contained home office with a kitchenette and ensuites.
