Consolidated Properties Group has topped out both towers at its riverfront Toowong apartment development, Monarch Residences.

Final construction work is underway on the $460 million development which is 98 per cent sold. Just four of the 224 apartments remain.

Hutchinson Builders started construction on the 1.2-hectare site in 2023, notwithstanding the weather challenges throughout the past two years. As construction moves into the final stages, owners are set to begin moving in before Christmas this year.

In the coming months, the scaffolding will be removed from River 1, which will allow the public and residents a first look at the exterior and form of the building.

With the structural construction of the building complete, Hutchinson Builders are continuing their work on the residence’s internal features and rooftop amenities, including the ultra-premium pool deck, gym, sauna and entertaining areas.

The heritage restoration of Middenbury House is also seeing major progress. The heritage-listed Welsh slate roof has been replaced using the last shipment of traditional Welsh slate ever to arrive in Australia, marking a significant step in the building’s restoration.

Once complete, residents and visitors to Monarch Residences will be among the first people to enter the historical building, as it is the first time it will be open to the public since its original construction in 1865.

“We’re pleased with how the construction is progressing across both towers,” said Don O’Rorke, CEO and Chairman of Consolidated Properties Group.

“Both towers are structurally complete, and we’re moving quickly into the final stages. Hutchinson Builders has done an outstanding job, and we’re confident the delivery will exceed our expectations. It’s exciting to see everything come together, and we look forward to welcoming the first residents soon.”

Chairman of Hutchinson Builders, Scott Hutchinson said the building is something special, not just in Brisbane, but in Australia.

"It’s a beautiful building, sitting right on the river in Brisbane," Hutchinson said.

“As builders, we have worked hard to ensure the materials we use are not only of the highest quality, but also visually appealing and structurally sound. The residences themselves are beautiful homes and it’s been a privilege bringing the vision of Monarch Residences to life."
