Prominent developer&nbsp;<a href="/developers/deicorp">Deicorp</a> has secured planning approval for its first ever Rhodes apartment development.

They've been given the go ahead to developer&nbsp;<a href="/new-apartments/marquet-mary-rhodes-1-9-marquet-street-rhodes-nsw-2138">Marquet &amp; Mary</a>, a 32-level mixed-use tower in the heart of Rhodes designed by Fender Katsilidis.

The design for the $435 million project, which was selected by an expert design jury last year, has been approved by the <a href="/new-apartments/sydney-nsw">Sydney</a> Eastern City Planning Panel.&nbsp;

Above a four-level podium, that will home retail and commercial spaces,&nbsp;a community rooftop terrace and garden, and a residential courtyard, will be 214 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, a community rooftop terrace and garden,&nbsp;

Deicorp’s Chairman, Fouad Deiri OAM, said the landmark&nbsp;building will bring much-needed new homes to the heart of Rhodes.

FK Partner Craig Baudin said Canada Bay City Council's swift approval of the development application underscores the recognition that this project goes beyond simply providing much-needed housing.

"It also completes a crucial missing piece in the precinct - the revitalisation of an underutilised low-rise lot," Baudin said.

"With this momentum, the DA approval paves the way for delivering a transformative project for Rhodes."

Positioned strategically at the corner of Marquet and Mary streets, the&nbsp;<a href="/developments/rhodes-nsw-2138">Rhodes</a> peninsula is home to an established precinct of shopping, dining, leisure and transport - including the nearby Rhodes train station.

Recognised by an independent judging panel when awarding FK the project following a design excellence competition in 2023, FK’s design was praised for the provision of a public plaza at the southern entrance and the fine-grain design of the ground plane.&nbsp;

The mixed-use precinct will create new laneways and foster greater connectivity throughout central Rhodes. A new public landscaped laneway, enlivened by active retail uses on the ground level, aims to connect the development to its surroundings.&nbsp;

<a href="/developers/uem-sunrise" target="">UEM Sunrise</a>&nbsp;has submitted plans for its first residential developments outside of Melbourne.

Having acquired a prime <a href="/developments/subiaco-wa-6008">Subiaco East</a> site in Perth, some 4,930 sqm, UEM has proposed two mixed-use residential buildings that will sit just beyond the boundary line of the iconic Subiaco Oval and alongside Haydn Bunton Drive. The proposed development is the first within the overall Subiaco East Masterplan by DevelopmentWA, the Western Australian State Government’s central development agency.

The proposed development will comprise around 340 apartments and is expected to accommodate more than 1,000 future residents, with up to 12% of the apartments providing affordable housing in the Western suburbs. The proposal aims to offer a distinct opportunity for future residents to enjoy the unique Subiaco lifestyle.

The scheme will see two well-designed residential buildings on Lot 1 with a tiered height of 25 and 35 stories plus a ground floor, creating a strong visual aesthetic for the landmark development. This will be complemented by a 10-storey building plus a ground floor on Lot 2.

The proposed design for the mixed-use residential precinct will promote communal interaction through well-curated spaces, 400sqm of retail space on the ground floor of Lot 1, which permeates into gardens and landscaping that augment the public facilities at The Oval site.

Grant Price's <a href="/developers/balito-investments">Balito Investments</a> has submitted a development application for a new mixed-use building in North Curl Curl.

The new mixed-use development at 142-146 Pitt Road, near Curl Curl North Public School, will comprise 11 apartments across a low-rise, three-level building. They will sit atop five retail tenancies.

Designed by <a href="/architects/warren-and-mahoney">Warren and Mahoney</a>, the proposed building's exterior will feature metal stud and brick walls, timber cladding, screens, and concrete edge planter boxes to reflect the natural materials and tones of the local area.

Bathla plots $286 million mixed-use development in Cabramatta

<a href="/developers/sterling-global">Sterling Global</a> received the green light for its $520 million residential and lifestyle hotel development at 623 Collins Street in <a href="/developments/melbourne-vic">Melbourne</a>'s CBD from the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning.

Strategically located at the <a href="/new-apartments/623-collins-street-melbourne">intersection of Collins and Spencer Streets</a>, the 42-level mixed-use tower has been designed by <a href="/architects/carr-design">Carr Architects</a> and will home 175 apartments above a 229-room hotel that will occupy the heritage podium levels.

There will also be 2,717 sqm of commercial space.

The hotel will also include a fine dining restaurant, enhancing the lifestyle offerings for local workers, residents, and travellers.

The upper levels of the tower are set back to preserve the original facades of the 1923 State Savings Bank, which will be meticulously restored and refurbished.

Scheduled to launch on the market in early 2025, with construction commencing next year, the project is anticipated to reach practical completion by early 2028.&nbsp;

Sterling Global’s $520 million Collins Street hotel and apartment development approved

Following gateway determination for their mixed-use apartment and retail development in Waterloo earlier this month, Woollworths has secured another approval.

This one is in <a href="/developments/neutral-bay-nsw-2089">Neutral Bay</a>, where they received&nbsp;overwhelming support from the Sydney North Regional Planning Panel.

The approval allows Woolworths to proceed with plans to transform the existing site on Rangers Road into a "30-minute city."&nbsp;

The approved proposal will replace the existing Woolworths supermarket and include a new, full-line state-of-the-art supermarket, up to 70 apartments, 1,500 sqm of specialty retail and restaurants, and 2,400 sqm of commercial and medical space set amid new green spaces landscaped by <a href="/landscape-architect/arcadia-landscape-architecture">Arcadia</a>.

Rare new apartment development set for Huskisson

Fitzroy North's apartment scene is set to be bolstered by a striking, fossil fuel-free new development.

Plans submitted by Second Nature Developments for a&nbsp;part two-storey, part six-storey mixed-use development with 21 dwellings and three retail tenancies on St Georges Road have been approved.

The building will sit across&nbsp;197-201 and 203-205 St Georges Road, creating a 989 sqm block near Edinburgh Gardens.

<a href="/architects/austin-maynard-architects" target="">Austin Maynard</a>&nbsp;Architects are behind the designs for the new project which will have 17 apartments two and three-bedroom apartments and four double-storey townhouses to the western side of the building.

In their submission to the City of Yarra Council,&nbsp;<a href="/architects/austin-maynard-architects" target="">Austin Maynard</a>&nbsp;Architects said the design response for the subject site takes cues from the surrounding context with reference to building height, setbacks, articulation of form and amenity.

"The height of the proposal is justifiable in the precinct when considering the significant building heights not only present in the existing build form, but more recently permitted in the approval of the Piedemontes supermarket redevelopment," Austin Maynard said.

"Significant setbacks and upper-level articulation, the reduced bulk of the proposal also assists in reducing the perception of overall height of the building."

They said, as&nbsp;a fundamental component of good design, sustainability is at the core of this proposed development.

"Passive solar gain is maximised where possible and light courts are located to allow for access to ample natural light and ventilation. This is a fossilfuel free building, with electrically run heatpump hot water. Solar PV panels on the roof will supplement the energy usage, and water collection/ re-use is maximised."

Town planner Ratio said the building proposes a flat roof form and will be of a contemporary design, comprising a suitable range of building materials including powdercoated metal, red brick and brickwork of muted tones, hit-and-miss brickwork and clear glazing.

"This material palette is derived from that of the surrounding streetscape which features predominantly heritage commercial buildings of masonry construction."

When submitting the plans for the development in October last year, Ratio noted similar and higher density projects approved in the local area recently, specifically the&nbsp;VCAT approval nearby for 66 dwellings at 25-45 Best Street and 102-114 Scotchmer Street.

The City of Sydney has approved the development application for Toohey Miller's new apartment project on Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst.&nbsp;

The development will deliver 14 two and three-bedroom units to the market, marking the second collaboration between Toohey Miller and renowned architectural firm <a href="/architects/woods-bagot">Woods Bagot</a>.

The seven-storey building on a 685 sqm site at 379 Liverpool Street will sit in the heritage-rich environment of <a href="/developments/darlinghurst-nsw-2010">Darlinghurst</a> and will offer panoramic views of the Sydney skyline, including landmarks such as the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.&nbsp;

The project aims to integrate seamlessly with the architectural character of the area, drawing on the heritage fabric of the surrounding streetscape.

The building palette is derived from the site through native planting, sandstone materiality, and detailing reminiscent of the original buildings that surround it. Dangar Barin Smith is handling the landscaping.

Earlier this month they got the green light for their boutique Elizabeth Bay apartment development,&nbsp;<a href="/new-apartments/barncleuth-square-elizabeth-bay-4-4a-barncleuth-square-elizabeth-bay-nsw-2011">Barncleuth Square</a>. That will have just&nbsp;10 large owner-occupier apartments designed by SJB with views over Ruushcutters Bay.

It follows on from Toohey Miller's debut Elizabeth Bay project, <a href="/new-apartments/no-1-onslow-place-elizabeth-bay-1-onslow-place-elizabeth-bay">No.1 Onslow Ave</a>, which is now under construction.

Toohey Miller greenlit for Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst apartment development

Prominent Lower North Shore developer <a href="/developers/winim">WINIM</a> has filed plans for its next project.

It's planning a 42-apartment development in <a href="/new-apartments/lane-cove-nsw-2066">Lane Cove</a>, on a near-3000 sqm site across 1 Gatacre Avenue &amp; 1-5 Allison Avenue, a site they secured in 2021 for around $25 million.

The boutique building designed by <a href="/architects/pbd-architects">PBD Architects</a>, near the border of Artarmon, will replace an old three-level motel.

PBD said in their Design Report submitted to the Lane Cove Council the proposal seeks to sit in harmony with the existing context and also the newer developments that are arising in the nearby area, adding to and not diminishing the existing character.

"The architectural expression of the proposal seeks to find a balance between the existing neighbourhood character and to create a fresh new contemporary development that will bring great comfort, sanctuary and harmony to its occupants and also to the greater community and neighbourhood.

"Massing and façade details are designed to respond to both the desired character of the area and the existing context."

The building will have 44 units, a mix of six one-bed apartments, 18 two and 18 three-bedrooms, and two townhouses.

PBD says the proposal reflects current market demands to typologies and living patterns currently established in the local area.

Future residents will have access to community amenities found on the ground floor in the form of a cinema room and adjoining wine-tasting room. The building will be surrounded by landscaping by <a href="/landscape-architect/arcadia-landscape-architecture">Arcadia</a>.
