Northland Group top outs Central Quarter, marking a major step in Merrylands’ regeneration
Northland Group has marked a significant construction milestone at Central Quarter, officially topping out the 22-storey structure in the heart of Merrylands.
For the Sydney-based developer–builder, the moment represents more than structural progress, it signals the emergence of a new mixed-use residential, retail, and commercial precinct at one of Western Sydney’s most connected transport gateways.
Executive Director at Business Western Sydney, Mr David Borger attended and spoke at the ceremony, commending the team's desire to positively contribute to the suburb’s next chapter. “This is the perfect example of good quality housing,” Borger said, praising the development’s promise and highlighting its community benefit.
CEO of Resilience Insurance, Corey Nugent, said that Central Quarter is one of only a handful of developments in Sydney’s west, and the only one in Merrylands, to offer the sought-after 10-year Latent Defects Insurance policy, which covers significant structural and waterproofing defects.
A requirement of the policy is that a Technical Inspection Service (TIS) regularly attends the site during construction to ensure the building is being delivered to code. SDSS, which operates the TIS, says Central Quarter has consistently ranked within the top one per cent of more than 100 projects they monitor for build quality, a strong endorsement at this stage of delivery.
Developed and constructed entirely by Northland Group, Central Quarter is on track for completion in early-to-mid 2026 and will deliver 194 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments atop a mixed-use retail and commercial podium.
The developer launched the project only after construction was well underway, a move intended to give buyers greater clarity and confidence around timelines and delivery.
Inside, apartments feature engineered timber flooring, plush carpeting, zoned air conditioning, and Smeg appliances with Villeroy & Boch tapware, alongside full-height bathroom tiling and stone benchtops.
Open-plan living areas connect to tiled balconies, maximising natural light and supporting indoor–outdoor living, key considerations for owner-occupiers and investors alike.
Central Quarter’s location remains one of its strongest drawcards. Positioned directly beside Merrylands Station and bus interchange, and across the road from Stockland Merrylands, residents will have frequent public transport, nearly 200 retailers, and diverse dining options at their doorstep.
The podium levels of Central Quarter will also introduce a 24/7 gym, childcare centre, and additional retail amenity at ground level, further activating the precinct.
As construction moves into its final stages, the topping out of Central Quarter marks a clear signal of progress for both the developer and Merrylands’ evolving urban landscape. With structural works now complete, internal fit-outs and façade detailing will take centre stage as the project moves toward its 2026 completion.
