Construction underway on new 120-apartment Chatswood tower, The Anderson

Construction has commenced on another major apartment development in Chatswood, with a joint venture between Huirong Group and Changfa Group breaking ground on a new 120-apartment tower on Anderson Street.
The project, known as The Anderson, is being developed at 54-56 Anderson Street, within walking distance of Chatswood's major retail precinct and transport interchange.
The development will deliver a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments, along with a collection of penthouses, with prices starting from $1.09 million.
Completion is currently targeted for late 2029.
The Anderson has been designed by Sydney architecture practice AJC Architects, with interiors by Hayball. The mixed-use building will also incorporate ground-floor retail space, adding to the commercial offering within Chatswood's growing residential centre.
The commencement of construction marks a significant milestone for the joint venture, which brings together two international development groups with established experience across residential property.
Huirong Group has been operating for more than four decades, while Changfa Group brings more than 20 years of international development experience. The Anderson represents a significant entry into the Australian residential market for the partnership.
The developers have sought to position the project towards buyers looking for larger, contemporary apartments in an established Lower North Shore location, particularly those wanting to remain close to Chatswood's shopping, dining and public transport amenities.
AJC Architects, which was established in 1956, has designed the building to respond to its Anderson Street setting, with the upper levels oriented to capture views across Chatswood and towards the surrounding heritage precinct.
Apartments on higher floors are also expected to capture glimpses of the ocean.
Hayball has been appointed to design the interiors, with a focus on natural materials, open-plan living spaces and connections between indoor and outdoor areas.
The apartments will feature generous balconies, contemporary kitchens and premium fixtures and finishes, with the larger residences and penthouses targeting buyers seeking additional space without moving away from the convenience of apartment living.
The inclusion of one-bedroom apartments will also provide an entry point for buyers looking to purchase in Chatswood, where proximity to employment, retail and transport infrastructure continues to underpin demand for new housing.
The Anderson's location is one of its key selling points.
The development is approximately seven minutes' walk from Chatswood Interchange, which provides access to Sydney Trains, Sydney Metro and bus services connecting the suburb with the Sydney CBD and surrounding employment centres.
Westfield Chatswood, Chatswood Plaza and The Concourse, the suburb's major performing arts and cultural centre, are also within a short walk.
Chatswood Chase and the broader Chatswood CBD, known for its concentration of restaurants, cafés and Asian dining destinations, are around ten minutes away on foot.
The location places future residents within an established commercial and retail centre, rather than a precinct where infrastructure and amenity are still being delivered.
Chatswood has become an increasingly important location for new apartment development on Sydney's Lower North Shore, supported by its transport connections, employment base and established retail offering.
The suburb has also been identified for additional housing under the NSW Government's planning reforms, with its existing transport infrastructure making it a focus for higher-density residential development.
For The Anderson, the commencement of construction comes as developers across Sydney continue to navigate elevated building costs and the challenges associated with delivering new apartments.
While a head contractor has not yet been publicly identified, the joint venture is targeting completion in late 2029, placing the development among the next wave of new apartment projects expected to be delivered in Chatswood.
With construction now underway and apartments available from $1.09 million, The Anderson will add another 120 homes to Chatswood's growing residential pipeline.
