Tongkah, the 1910 Arts and Crafts villa at Centennial Park, has been listed for April 3 auction with $5.75 million-plus hopes.

The five-bedroom Lang Road house sits on a 1,024-square-metre block. It’s been listed by Carol and James Beecher, who operated a family lighting company for many decades, through Di Jones agent Louise Snowden and Catherine Dixon. It last traded at $1.1 million in 1990.

Centennial Park’s most recent sale price hasn’t been disclosed but it’s understood to be about $6.5 million on Robertson Road. The four-bedroom 1900 house (pictured above) on a 757-square-metre block was renovated in 2007. It had last sold for $5.75 million in 2006.

There was also the $4.815 million sale last September of Elouera (pictured above and below), set at the western end of Martin Road, one of Sydney's most prestigious non-waterfront addresses.  While the front section of the house  retains its original Art Deco architecture, the double-height glass-walled back section is modern and bold designed by architect Michael Heenan of Allen Jack + Cottier.

Both were sold through Di Jones.
