In an environment where many projects have stalled or are unable to secure a builder, Chevron Island’s newest tower, Tapestry, is forging ahead after Siera Property Group expanded its own in-house construction team to deliver the $135 million state-of-the-art project.

This week the future residents of Tapestry got behind the shovels to turn the first sod to mark the start of construction, joined by Cr Darren Taylor and UDIA Queensland CEO Kirsty Chessher-Brown.

The 22-storey sculptural tower has been designed by local architecture firm BDA as a ‘cultural continuation’ of the neighbouring HOTA precinct.

SIERA Founder and Managing Director, Brent Thompson, said more than 90 per cent of Tapestry’s purchasers were owner-occupiers, making the construction commencement milestone particularly special.

“We could see how underrated Chevron Island was and we knew we had to get into Tapestry,” Carla said.

Siera kick off construction at Chevron Island apartment development, Tapestry

Sydney-based developer Haitchin Group has officially commenced construction on the residential part of their Norwest mixed-use development, Infinity Park.

Infinity Park comprises three distinct residential buildings which will home 290 apartments.

The tallest tower, Marquee, at 25 levels, is accompanied by two five-level, low-rise buildings Alpha and Omega. Alpha and Omega will offer the most premium two and three-bedroom apartments in the precinct.

The three buildings are expected to complete half way through 2025. Construction company CJCA is handling the build.

Sydney developer Sammut Group has announced the appointment of multi-award-winning, iCIRT-rated construction firm Decode to deliver VUE, their mixed-use project in the heart of Cronulla.

VUE sits on a prominent 5,225sqm site at the northern end of Cronulla Mall and is set over two eight-storey buildings, sharing a double-storey podium.

The development will include 112 apartments, 880 sqm of commercial space and 3000 sqm of retail space including Harris Farm Markets – the first for Southern Sydney.

Andrews Projects is the latest in a growing cohort of residential apartment developers in South East Queensland to launch its own construction company to control its project’s narratives.

Veteran Brisbane developer Pikos is pushing ahead with its $300 million Kangaroo Point clifftop apartment development, Skye by Pikos.

Major excavation works have been completed by local South East Queensland builder Tomkins Commercial, with the basement car park, which will home 165 vehicles, now dug out at the dress circle River Terrace address.

The basement carpark excavation, which began in mid-December last year, saw three excavators, including a 40-tonne rock breaker, remove 24,000 cubic meters of earth and rock to reach the required 12.3-metre depth.

Munro by Azure is building on the success of similar projects undertaken by Azure's building arm, Azure Build, across southeast Queensland.

Munro by Azure is being delivered in two stages, with the first stage comprising 70 terrace homes. The first stage is set for completion in the first quarter of 2025, while the second stage of 30 terraces will follow in the second quarter of 2025.

After completion, Azure will maintain its ties to the property by overseeing the management of Munro, ensuring that all shared amenities are maintained to the highest standard.

The company’s extensive property management portfolio currently comprises more than 800 residences.

Construction of Munro has begun on on schedule following a rapid sell-out of the project, just weeks after its official launch in April this year
