Broadway Sydney has launched an open-air rooftop roller skating rink, High Rollers, running from the 5th to the 30th of September.
The event takes place in partnership with Sydney Fringe Festival and is to be hosted by social media personality, Cameron Robbie. 
Robbie has recently taken on a role as MTV Entertainment guest reporter.
Justine Saltmarsh, Broadway Sydney, said: “Broadway Sydney Rooftop Roller Rink is an opportunity to celebrate one of the largest independent arts festivals in NSW whilst supporting the work of local artists and performers."
The weekly schedule for the roller rink is as follows with ticket price including skate hire.
Guests will need to BYO socks and night time sessions include live DJ performance.

Domain has appointed the former Reserve Bank economist Trent Wiltshire as its economist.
He was more recently at the Grattan Institute.
Wiltshire, who joined Grattan in July 2015 after four years as an economist at the Reserve Bank, holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Economics and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Monash University.
He resides in a dowdy 1960s Moorabin home which cost $1,025,000 in 2016 after being listed for just three days.
The home now comes with a $1.08 million value estimate by Domain, reflecting annual price growth of almost three percent.
It was marketed with being 250 steps to the business and shopping centre as its major selling point.
Wiltshire has recently been vocal on local traffic issues especially around the proposed Jasper Road and Moorabbin shopping strip.
He will work in Domain's new data and insights unit, Domain Research House.
The unit is being led by newly-appointed content and data director Tobias (aka Toby) Johnstone, who began working with auction results in the SMH newspaper in 2008 under the tutelage of then property editor Jonathan Chancellor, now editor at large at Property Observer.

As part of the launch, Dr Nicola Powell has been confirmed as senior research analyst, although she calls herself a data scientist.

"After years in the doldrums, Western Australia is showing signs of life.
"But new Domain research shows that WA’s beleaguered property market could have bottomed out," he wrote. 
He replaces the veteran Dr Andrew Wilson.
The blokeish Domain coterie was recently rocked by the departure of its rising star Chris Kohler.
Kohler now leads authoritative property coverage on the new yourmoney channel, a joint venture launching next month between Nine and Australian News Channel.

There have been a dozen acreages with homes sold in the Victorian weekender locality so far this year with prices between $890,000 for Aldershot and $2.75 million for the 2006-built Camelot. 
Camelot dates back to the 1880s when the original house, Hohe Warte, was built by the honorary consul for Austria-Hungary, importer Carl Ludwig Pinschof and his wife, the opera singer Elise Wiedermann. 
The property was renamed by its next owners, the Slutzkin family.

Mount Macedon trophy home Dallwallinu listed

The busiest suburbs for auctions this week continue to be those in Victoria.
Reservoir tops the list with 20 homes scheduled for auction, followed closely by Balwyn North (17), Bentleigh East (15) and Cheltenham (13).
So far the 2018 "Spring selling season" has seen volumes remain relatively steady with just 1,882 auctions this week, down from last weeks 1,916.
Comparing activity to the same week last year, volumes are down 25 per cent on the 2,510 auctions held one year ago.

The City of Sydney has released new planning controls for Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross, a blueprint for how the Council assesses all future development in the iconic inner city village.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the draft controls set out new design principles for Darlinghurst Road, plus a preferred building form for the properties along the east side of Darlinghurst Road from Roslyn Street to Fitzroy Gardens and Macleay Street, which includes the Bourbon and Empire Hotels.
“Kings Cross has played an important role in Sydney’s history. It’s one of the country’s most diverseand exciting areas and its unique character should be retained, even as Kings Cross changes in the future,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
“These draft controls recommend that any future development retains the look and feel of the current streetscape prioritising active street frontages and small grain uses – all things the community said were important.
“We’re recommending any new development set aside 50 per cent of its floor space for non-residential uses and we’ll be pursuing heritage listings for Kingsley Hall and the façade of the Bourbon, as well as asking that future development of the Empire Hotel recognises its social historyas the home of the infamous 1960s’ nightclub, Les Girls.
“Our changes will make sure any new development in the area respects the edgy, historic and iconic characteristics of Kings Cross.”
The City is also proposing to heritage list three new sites along Darlinghurst Road:

  The façade of The Bourbon at 22–24 Darlinghurst Road – a site of historical significance that reflects social and architectural change in Potts Point over the decades. The mansion terrace was originally built for wealthy professionals, then modified for use as a private hospital, later converted to a boarding house, and finally became a popular nightclub.

  The Empire site at 32–32A Darlinghurst Road – this modernist building housed the internationally recognised Les Girls nightclub in the 1960s and 1970s. While it has been heavily altered over the years, the site retains historical and social significance for its important role in Kings Cross’s colourful past. The proposed controls allow the building to be redeveloped, provided any new development takes into account the site’s history and social connections.

The development of the new controls was overseen by the City’s Design Advisory Panel after the council were lashed by extensive community feedback.
 Work will continue on detailed building form controls for the remainder of Darlinghurst Road.
Darlinghurst Road is located within the Potts Point and Elizabeth Bay heritage conservation area, which extends from the Garden Island naval depot in the north to Kings Cross Road in the south, and from Victoria Street in the west to Ward Avenue in the east. Two sites on the strip are already heritage listed – the Kings Cross Library at 50–52 Darlinghurst Road, and the building known as Minton House at 72–80 Darlinghurst Road.
The draft planning controls will be on exhibition later this month. The proposed heritage listings will be reviewed by the NSW Government before being exhibited at a later date. All feedback will be reported back to Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee before the development controls are adopted.
A second development control plan with specific controls for the remainder of Darlinghurst Road is being prepared and will be reported to Council in 2019.
The draft planning controls were developed after significant community and Council concern over a proposed development at 18–32A Darlinghurst Road, which ignored current City planning controls and which would have demolished the Bourbon façade to make way for 83 residential apartments. The plans were later withdrawn by the applicant.
Councillors will decide if the new controls are ready for public exhibition at a meeting on Monday night.
The changes include:
            a new locality statement that describes the area’s character and key principles for new development, based on community feedback

  encouraging a minimum of 50 per cent of floor space along Darlinghurst Road to be set aside for non-residential uses such as shops, restaurants, cafes and other services

<li>
  building heights, setbacks and specific design requirements for 18-32A Darlinghurst Road (the Bourbon Hotel site) to ensure new development fits into the surrounding context, integrates heritage, protects sunlight and supports its existing character
  heritage guidelines to ensure new development is compatible with and complementary to existing heritage items and the broader social and historic significance of the area

Kings Cross Bourbon Hotel facade belatedly deemed to be heritage

It all feels a little 'contagious'. Among emerging markets, that is. For a while, one could point to specific challenges in specific economies. But in recent weeks, the sell-off has spread, and not always with good justification. Indonesia is a case in point: fundamentals look sound - certainly no less so than, say, a couple of years ago - yet the currency has slid to a 20-year low.
Contagions come in different guises: economic, financial, psychological -- though in reality, they combine elements of all three. Even if more insulated than others, emerging Asia is still exposed on all these fronts. The best prophylactic is usually swift tightening, both monetary and financial. If the current turmoil lingers, the region will have to deliver more of it. And that'll dent growth.
Your economist has been making the rounds of late, in Asia and Europe, gauging investor sentiment. It's been a rough summer for many, no doubt. But one hardly registers a sense of panic. Views remain differentiated, and Asia on the whole is still seen as relatively robust.
The headlines, though, remain challenging. And as veteran emerging market investors well know, pressures can swiftly spread, exacerbated by markets that are thinner and less liquid than those in the developed world.
So it's worth revisiting, in principle, what can cause 'contagion'. Three dimensions matter - overlapping and reinforcing each other, of course, but nonetheless conceptually distinct.
Economic contagion occurs when real sector linkages between markets prompt stress to spread. Here, Asia is less exposed to potential turmoil in other emerging markets. But common themes are on investor minds nonetheless: a slowing China, foremost, would hurt emerging markets everywhere. Evidence of strengthening Mainland demand would thus do a lot to stabilize EM sentiment.
Broadly, trade tensions between the US and China are also frequently cited - both in terms of cooling Chinese demand, and in terms of the broader threat the dispute presents to global trade. Here, Asia is especially exposed, via supply chains that tie into China and the broader dependence on global trade.
Financial contagion refers to investor positioning. In the simplest case, should an EM investor face redemptions, but difficulties of getting out of positions in the most hard-pressed markets, he or she could be forced to liquidate positions elsewhere, including in economies with sound fundamentals.
For the moment, this doesn't appear to be the case. But the point is that emerging Asia could be affected by this even if the fundamentals of many economies in the region appear comparatively robust.
Psychological contagion is perhaps a little harder to define, but material nonetheless: a given market sells off even if there are no obvious economic or financial linkages to others. Apart from simply frayed nerves, this can be caused by a 'paradigm shift', where, say, investors suddenly question to wisdom of investing in emerging markets at all.
Contagion, of any form, is best prevented with swift and early action. In emerging markets, this usually entails tighter macroeconomic policy (and, if needed, structural reforms).
If the current market jitters persist, more may be needed across emerging Asia as well. Less so, of course, in countries with robust current account surpluses than in others. But even a strong balance of payments position, if the stock of non-resident liabilities is sufficiently large, doesn't obviate the need for some tightening.
Here's to the headlines turning a little more soothing soon.

Why the contagion is spreading among emerging Asian markets: HSBC's Frederic Nuemann

Buying a house is probably one of the most important purchases a person will make. Many people think the vendor is required to disclose matters that affect the property value, particularly if the buyer has no other means of finding out the full history of the house. For instance, if someone was murdered in the house, do the buyers have a right to be told?
The solicitor or conveyancer who acts for a buyer will probably tell them the law is “buyer beware”. It is up to buyers to satisfy themselves that the property is not affected by any defects in title, that it can be used for the purposes the buyer intends, and that any building on the property is sound.
If a vendor actively conceals a known defect, then that might amount to fraud. Examples include painting to conceal serious termite damage, or giving a deliberately false answer to a question from a buyer about the property.
A purchaser would need to show, though, that the vendor was deliberately dishonest or at least reckless. That’s a high standard of proof to meet.
The law requires vendors in some states, including New South Wales and Victoria, to disclose the title documents and any registered encumbrances such as easements and covenants. The vendor’s mortgages will be discharged on settlement.
In NSW and some other states, vendors must attach to the contract a certificate from the local council that sets out whether the land is affected by administrative or regulatory matters. This includes issues like zoning, subdivision, contaminated land or identified bushfire or flood hazards. These council certificates can give buyers a good idea of whether they will be able to use the property as they wish.
Where certain statutory requirements have not been disclosed, the buyer can rescind the contract and get their deposit back if the matter was so important that they would not have entered into the contract had they known about it.
In many states, though, there is no duty to disclose matters relating to the title or the use of the land. If the property is a commercial or investment property, the Australian Consumer Law gives remedies to buyers who are induced to enter into contracts by misleading or deceptive conduct in trade or commerce by the vendor or the vendor’s agent. Even if the vendor is selling privately, an agent might still be liable if they misrepresent the property, or tell half-truths that give a misleading impression.
But there is still no general duty on vendors or their agents to disclose matters that affect the property value and may be significant to buyers, but which do not amount to defects in title that can’t be discovered by reasonable inspection.
How far should disclosure go?
Should vendors be obliged to disclose all matters that might influence a buyer? There is probably a good case for all state and territory governments to follow NSW with a requirement to disclose council information. But, beyond that, just how far should a duty of disclosure go?
For instance, if something terrible, such as murder or other violent and upsetting events, has happened at a property, should a vendor be required to tell potential buyers about this? In some US states, courts have held that a vendor should disclose the history of the house where a murder has been committed. US brokers call these “stigmatised properties”.
In a case in NSW, a house where three members of a family were murdered was sold to unsuspecting buyers, who later found out about this history. They refused to proceed, but as the vendors were not required to disclose the history, the buyers lost their deposit. The estate agent who handled the sale was ultimately fined for glossing over the history of the house. The agent also met the cost of the forfeited deposit, but that depended on the particular facts involved.
Such horrible events are rare, but buyers might be very distressed by that kind of history. Shouldn’t buyers have complete information?
One problem is just how far any duty of disclosure would reach. Should any matter at all that affects the value of the property be disclosed?
Some buyers might be particularly sensitive and consider that they should be given comprehensive information about the history of the property. Would it be necessary to disclose that a person had died at the property, even if of old age or natural causes?
Just as vendors might not know about any structural defects in the property, they might not know much about the history of the property. A landlord vendor, for example, might not have information about what went on in the house while tenants were living in it. It might be unfair, then, to shift to the vendor the risk of any decline in value caused by sensitive buyers.
Estate agents are usually responsible for marketing the property. So, if any duty is to exist for making statements about it, perhaps this should lie on the agent, and not the vendors, and should be confined to compensation rather than the ability to get out of the sale. Purchasers can always on-sell a bad bargain, but vendors might be stuck with the property through no fault of their own if they have to bear the responsibility of disclosing everything about its history.

A Southern Highlands heritage property, The Manse, built in 1890 as part of the Presbyterian Church, Mittagong has been sold at auction this month

It was sold at auction through Di Jones for $985,000.
The new owners were attracted to the original features of the home which has a beautiful entry hall with fretwork and chandelier, as well as wide original Kauri timber floorboards.
The 828 square metre home, with one bathroom, last sold for 425,000 just under six years ago.
Set behind an old iron gate, it is located within a short drive from shops, cafes and schools, as well as being within walking distance to Lake Alexandra.
The Manse was purchased by a Sydney buyer, confirming a recent trend of 73% of Mittagong buyers coming from out of the area, according to Di Jones auctioneer Josh Larsen.

Southern Highlands heritage property The Manse sells at auction

The Block celebrity couple Elyse Knowles and Josh Barker have secured a tenant for their newly acquired South Melbourne investment property.
The couple paid $1.42 million for the home (pictured above), however elected not to renovate before seeking a $690 a week tenant.
The home has two bedrooms, one bathroom and a courtyard.
There's no doubt the couple will renovate when they get a break from their busy lives in the public eye.
Elyse is a model with Myer.
They won The Block Elsternwick last year when comedian <a href="/news/comedian-dave-hughes-buys-the-block-elsternwick-winner-from-josh-and-elyse">Dave Hughes spent $3 million on their reno. </a>
Josh and Elyse purchase came after they spent $1.35 million in the neighbouring Albert Park late last year. 
They moved in to the 1880s home and Josh painted everything white.
They appear to be set to renovate imminently.
Their purchase came after they scored $1.63 million for another renovation job, this one in Coburg.
They had paid $600,000 in 2014.

The Alice Springs market traditionally enjoys a livelier period during the spring months and heading into December with sales numbers generally well up on the previous quarter, according to the latest Herron Todd White (HTW) residential report.
The valuation firm noted that, this is in part due to the comings and goings as people relocate towards the end of the year however as the chilly mornings and frosts leave us, the presentation of well-kept gardens shines through and spring proves the best time to sell.
The market has shown mixed results in recent months however, which is likely to continue.
"Recent shining lights include the rural residential market with more sales above the $1 million mark and the Old East Side area continuing to be popular," stated HTW valuers.
Units continue to be generally soft, more so for older 1980s 2-bedroom townhouses which have continued to decline in value however more are starting to sell which is a positive sign. New and modern units have proved more resilient with good demand and stable price levels.

Alice Springs property market sees an uptick, but remains in overall decline: HTW

An entity directed by HSN's Rafi Assouline and Rebel Property's Allen Linz has filed plans for an impressive new precinct in Woolloomooloo.

The major mixed-use development would transform a prominent William Street site into a new residential village anchored by affordable housing and a large public park.

The proposal, submitted as a State Significant Development Application, covers 164-172 and 174-194 William Street, a 6,398 sqm site between Forbes Street and Dowling Street on the southern edge of Woolloomooloo.

Designed by fjcstudio in collaboration with Bangawarra, Studio Bright and Tribe Studio Architects, the scheme would deliver 227 apartments across four residential buildings ranging in height up to 18 storeys, alongside retail space, public domain improvements and a new publicly accessible park.

It's another design scheme for Rebel, who took <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/news/nsw/first-look-rebel-property-group-takes-woolloomooloo-precinct-to-nsw-government">concept plans to the NSW Gov late last year</a>.

The latest plans will be a mix of 167 build-to-sell apartments and 60 affordable apartments, with the affordable housing component representing 15 per cent of the project's gross floor area. The apartment mix includes 12 one-bedroom, 53 two-bedroom, 89 three-bedroom apartments and 13 penthouses, while the affordable housing component would comprise 42 one-bedroom and 18 two-bedroom apartments.

Rebel Property is seeking to take advantage of the NSW Government's infill affordable housing bonus provisions under the Housing SEPP, which provide additional floor space and height in exchange for the delivery of affordable housing for a minimum of 15 years. The planning pathway allows a 30 per cent increase in floor space ratio and building height where 15 per cent of the development is dedicated to affordable housing.

At the centre of the development is a 1,356 sqm sunlit public park designed to become a new community gathering space at the gateway to Woolloomooloo. The park would be complemented by a network of pedestrian laneways connecting William Street with the surrounding streets, improving permeability through what is currently a largely impermeable block.

The design team says the public domain has been heavily influenced by the site's topography and Aboriginal cultural heritage, drawing on the escarpments, gullies and landscape characteristics that historically defined the area before urbanisation. The landscape design has been developed in partnership with First Nations consultancy Bangawarra.

The project would be delivered across four separate buildings. The William Street East and William Street West buildings, designed by fjcstudio, would contain the majority of the apartments. Melbourne-based Studio Bright has designed the Forbes Street building, while Tribe Studio Architects is responsible for the Dowling Street building.

Rebel had secured approval for the concept plans late last year.

First look: HSN, Rebel, advances Woolloomooloo precinct plans

A locally heritage-listed furniture showroom on Water Street is set to become the centrepiece of a new mixed-use residential development as local developer&nbsp;<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/keylin-group">Keylin</a> seeks approval for <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/lotus-on-water-street-290-water-street-fortitude-valley-qld-4006">Lotus on Water Street</a>, a 15-storey project on the Fortitude Valley side of Spring Hill.

The proposal spans 290 Water Street and 137-141 Warry Street, combining several properties into a 2,869 sqm site that sits between Fortitude Valley, Spring Hill and the rapidly evolving Victoria Park precinct. Keylin's plans would deliver 132 apartments alongside new retail, hospitality and commercial space, while retaining and repurposing the historic Brunswick Home Furnishers Showroom that fronts Water Street.

Designed by <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/architects/jackson-teece">Jackson Teece</a>, Lotus on Water Street comprises a 12-storey residential tower rising above a three-storey podium and communal rooftop terrace. The development includes 76 apartments classified as multiple dwellings and a further 56 units proposed as short-term accommodation, designed to be flexibly used as either accommodation or permanent residences. The apartment mix comprises six one-bedroom, 54 two-bedroom and 16 three-bedroom homes.

Residents would have access to an extensive rooftop recreation level spanning more than 1,200 sqm of communal open space. Plans include a pool, gym, sauna, infrared sauna, yoga area, library, private dining room, barbecue facilities and landscaped entertainment spaces, making the rooftop the project's largest shared amenity offering.

At street level, the proposal focuses on the adaptive reuse of the heritage buildings along Water Street, where 518 sqm of retail and commercial space is planned across shop, office and food and drink outlet uses. A permeable residential lobby would be positioned between the retained heritage buildings, creating a pedestrian connection between the historic streetscape and the new tower behind.

The heritage retention strategy is central to the scheme. The development application notes that the Brunswick Home Furnishers Showroom and adjoining heritage buildings will remain, with only non-significant structures on the site earmarked for removal under a previously issued Heritage Exemption Certificate. Levels one and two of the new podium are recessed behind the heritage façades to maintain their prominence within the streetscape.

Jackson Teece has drawn inspiration from the site's manufacturing history when designing the podium. The planning documents state that the façade incorporates perforated metal screening that references the woven and rattan furniture historically produced on the site. Cascading and climbing plants are integrated throughout the podium to soften the building's presentation and screen parking levels behind. The landscape strategy also informs the project's name, Lotus on Water Street, drawing on the historic Spring Hollow waterholes that once ran through Spring Hill and the blue water lilies associated with Meeanjin, Brisbane's traditional name.

The proposal also incorporates the neighbouring property at 141 Warry Street, currently occupied by a healthcare service. The existing building would remain, with nine dedicated parking spaces allocated within the new development to support its ongoing operation. In total, Lotus on Water Street proposes 117 car spaces, including 110 resident spaces and seven visitor bays, alongside 100 bicycle spaces.

The site sits within the Spring Hill East Precinct of the Spring Hill Neighbourhood Plan and is positioned around 650 metres from both Fortitude Valley Station and Exhibition Station. It is also within walking distance of the King Street precinct, Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, Herston Quarter and Victoria Park, which is earmarked to become a major venue precinct ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Planning documents describe the location as a key gateway between Spring Hill and Fortitude Valley and highlight the area's increasing importance as new transport infrastructure and Olympic-related investment reshape Brisbane's inner north. The development team argues the project will contribute additional housing supply while activating a section of Water Street that has historically received less investment than other parts of the Valley.

Keylin has become increasingly active across Brisbane and southeast Queensland, assembling sites in strategic inner-city locations. They are currently selling and delivering <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/oria-spring-hill-447-gregory-terrace-spring-hill-qld-4000">Oria Spring Hill</a>, just over 140 apartments due for completion in 2027.

Roseville is poised for a wave of new apartment development following the NSW Government's rezoning of land around Roseville Station under its Transport Oriented Development program.

The new planning controls have unlocked significant development potential within walking distance of the station, with a number of sites expected to be amalgamated and redeveloped in the coming years as developers seek to take advantage of the increased density allowances.

One of the more restrained developments in the precinct, and set among the first to be delivered having commenced well before the recent changes, is Hyecorp's Juliet. The boutique apartment project is already well under construction and remains on track to welcome residents by the end of the year, offering a markedly different proposition to many of the larger-scale developments now likely to emerge across the suburb.

PBD Architects drew inspiration from Roseville's established garden suburb character, creating a building that sits comfortably within its surroundings rather than dominating them. The architecture incorporates natural materials, soft forms, layered landscaping, expansive balconies, and generous setbacks to strengthen the connection between residents and the suburb's leafy environment.

"The focus was on designing spacious, house-like residences for discerning owner-occupiers and downsizers who wanted to remain on the North Shore without compromising on comfort, privacy, or design," PBD said.&nbsp;

Are mortgage holders set to get a reprieve from the RBA in 2026?

Big Four bank NAB believes so. They are now expecting the next move from the RBA to be a cut, rather than a hike, which they had pencilled in for August. They are unsure of the timing of the cut however, they note in their latest&nbsp;NAB Economics RBA Watch.

NAB Chief Economist, Dr Sally Auld, said recent data suggests the economy has lost momentum and the outlook for rates has shifted, noting that the broader economic backdrop has changed since earlier in the year.

“The next move in the cash rate is likely to be down, but the timing is uncertain," Dr Auld said.

"In February, growth was above trend, the economy was operating above capacity and there was uncertainty over the restrictiveness of rates. None of these conditions exist today,” she outlined.

Dr Auld said recent data pointed to softer momentum across the economy while acknowledging that at the same time, uncertainty remains a key feature of the outlook.

“Both Q1 GDP data and the NAB business survey suggest momentum in the economy has slowed, meaning that growth has likely peaked for the cycle. That said, we are cognisant there is still considerable uncertainty around the outlook, both with respect to activity and inflation.”

Dr Auld said inflation risks and labour market outcomes would be important to watch.

“On the prices side, we are still forecasting above target core inflation through to mid-2027. Margins will compress and weaker labour market outcomes are a risk.”

She said tighter financial conditions are expected to weigh on housing and activity.

“Tighter financial conditions will be reflected in a slowing in house price growth and housing credit growth. In summary, we have greater conviction that the next move in rates is down, but less conviction on the timing.”
