Eight more Sydney councils are protesting about moves to simplify terrace house approvals.
What began as only two councils protesting about medium density plans for Sydney’s suburbs has now grown to ten concerned councils and more are likely to come. 
Canterbury Bankstown and Ryde councils have now been joined by Georges River, Sutherland, the Hills, Randwick, Strathfield, Lane Cove, Hawkesbury and the Northern Beaches councils all protesting about the NSW Government’s ‘missing middle’ medium density code.
The amazing thing about this is that the code is only for two storey homes and can only be applied where council plans allow medium density homes to be built. 
Strathfield Council, for example, does not allow any medium density housing so clearly the code is not relevant but the council is still out to protest. What seems to be happening is that councils are using the missing middle code as a proxy for over development and championing its rejection to save their residents from change.
With an election only ten months away the mood of the electorate is developing into an anti-growth, anti-change position with pressure from councils onto the state government. 
The Urban Taskforce is concerned that years of planning by the state government and the Greater Sydney Commission could all be overturned as the tensions from change make people nervous. But the city must change and we must not throw out long term planning because of short term tensions.” 
Sydney has a diverse community and this calls for a diversity of housing types from detached houses to town houses, terrace houses, low rise apartments to apartment towers. There will be different lifestyles related to each of these housing types and the state government must support all of the housing types in the most appropriate location for each type.
The Urban Taskforce believes the NSW Government should not back down on its planning policies as this will only encourage more councils and community groups to want further back downs. The government must support long term planning over short term back downs in a pre-election environment.

There was also her decor in the three storey Paddington terrace of Credit Suisse managing director Paul Allen and his wife Liz Morgan which fetched $4,465,000 in 2014.
Tilley says the inspiration for her work comes from many varied places.
But she is totally in awe of all Parisian architecture and antiquities.
She also admire the 16th century Palladian villas. 
Tilley, a mother of three boys, is well known around the Eastern suburbs social circles, regularly appearing at red carpet events and charity fundraisers.
It cost Tilley $2.38 million in 2014 from Michael de Meaune.

What’s old is new again as urban designers look to the past to solve a modern challenge in Queensland’s booming housing markets.
Leading consultancy group RPS have suggested that individually designed freehold terrace homes were getting set to be the future of compact housing in Australia.
RPS Regional Technical Director of Urban Design Peter Egerton said people looking for affordable, low-maintenance homes in prime lifestyle areas such as the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast were finding the new innovations in compact housing ticked all the boxes.
The rear laneways of the modern terrace lots are the same dimensions as those of days gone by but instead of being used by dunny carts, these days they provide vehicle access to rear-facing garages. This allows increased vehicle parking or storage opportunities without affecting the aesthetic appeal of the home’s street front.
“The terrace homes are essentially freestanding houses with a 50 millimetre gap in between and a high density easement over the whole boundary to take care of maintenance requirements,” Peter Egerton said.
RPS has been at the forefront of creating game-changing solutions in compact housing for the past decade, working as the urban designer on projects that have pioneered the new concepts in terrace allotments such as Fitzgibbon Chase on Brisbane’s northside, CityVillage Terraces at Robina and Sunshine Cove on the Sunshine Coast.
Chardan Development Group’s Sunshine Cove at Maroochydore has recently received national kudos for its innovation in residential terrace allotments, taking out the Residential Development award at the 2016 UDIA National Awards for Excellence. 
Sunshine Cove’s first residential precinct was launched in 2010 and creativity and innovation were hallmarks of the project from the start.

History repeats with re-birth of the terrace home

The Surry Hills home of “the woman Sydney forgot” Natalie Jean Wood, whose remains were undiscovered for eight years after her death, has been put up for February 24 offsite auction.
Ms Wood was last confirmed seen in 2003 and not seen again until 2011.
Her decomposed body was found in the front bedroom of the Kippax Street terrace just short of what would have been her 87th birthday.
“That the death of a life long resident of a high density housing area should remain undiscovered until after all the flesh had rotted from her frail bones caused public disquiet,” the Coroner’s Report said.
The Kippax Street home was listed after the Supreme Court ruled Ms Wood’s sister-in-law Enid Davis would inherit the assets. 
The home, advertised as a dilapidated deceased estate, is a two-bedroom on 75 sqm at<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-surry+hills-121704902" target="_blank"> 139 Kippax Street, Surry Hills</a> that has an external bathroom and laundry.
Selling agent PRDnationwide Perez Real Estate’s Corrinne Olsen has noted buyer interest up to $700,000.
The history of the property is fully disclosed to buyers in the contract of sale.
Property records indicate 139 Kippax Street was initially purchased by her father.

Surry Hills terrace listing of "the woman Sydney forgot"

A time-warp in Sydney's Paddington is for sale, but only after a bizarre court case.
The dilapidated Paddington terrace at <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-paddington-121762078" target="_blank">45 Iris Street</a> isn't difficult to spot with it's faded yellow facade drawing the eye.

The quirky interior walls are filled with quirky designs, some of which are hand drawn by the previous owner Christina Coombes who was an artist.
Christina passed away in 2013 and had owned the property for the last 40 years.
She bought the property with her late butcher husband Kenneth Coombes in 1965 for £3,200.
The terrace was in the limelight last year when an Iraqi refugee tried to claim the dank hovel, suggesting he was Christina's lover, cat minder and dancing partner for 17 years.

Christina's neighbours told the New South Wales Supreme Court that he was nothing more than a fruit and junk salesman who occasionally sold items to her.
It was discovered Waleed Sadiq never had a key, did not visit her in hospital, and failed to attend her funeral. He has been confirmed as living in Woolloomooloo.
The home is now under control of the NSW Trustee and Guardian who have had to seek a new certificate of title due to the last one being lost.
Christina was described as a bit of a recluse, which was no surprise considering the state of the home.
The advice from listing agent Adam McKay of the Di Jones agency is to bring a builder and an architect, because this property will need a lot of work.
There are two bedrooms, one bathroom and a rear courtyard.
Adam has said that he has received huge amounts of enquiry and had a great number of buyers through the first open on Saturday. 
He set a guide of $750,000 for the property which goes to auction on February 24.

"It is a very difficult terrace to put a price on as there will be a large variation as to what each buyer thinks it is worth.
"For instance, for those who are looking at the property to renovate and sell, they will be factoring in the cost of the works associated in order to get it ready for sale.
"However for the first home buyers who are excited at getting hold of a Paddington terrace at a discounted price, we may find that they push themselves further to secure the home and complete the renovations over a number of years," he said.
