The enormity of delivering a true skyscraper in Australia's new development market is often overlooked.

It has taken the best part of a decade since plans for Chevron One were first unveiled, but the 41-storey tower is now complete, with residents collecting their keys and moving into what has become one of the Gold Coast's most recognisable new landmarks.

Rising 127 metres above Chevron Island, Chevron One stands almost twice as high as any other building on the island. Its scale places it alongside the trio of towers at Jewel, arguably the last truly significant addition to the central Gold Coast skyline when they were completed around six years ago.

While there are several developments underway around a similar height to Chevron One, they are more concentrated within clusters of the highest towers in the city. The fact Chevron One sits within a developing precinct, looking back at the other high-rise developments in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, makes it a different proposition altogether. The tower has been the talk of the town for years, says Ray White Projects Gold Coast agent Caitlin Rosenboom, who is selling the remaining apartments.

Miron Solomons, Matt Pontey and Nick Lumley of Colliers International sold the 230 square metre, three storey Victorian terrace with vacant possession.
It went for more than $1 million over the initial starting bid of $4.5 million, with the property receiving 45 bids. 
Located at 109 Riley Street in Darlinghurst, the art gallery had contemporary internal finishes including polished concrete floors and multiple rooms with high quality amenities including a lift and loading dock. 
The gallery, which closed its doors in December 2018, has been owned and operated by Frank Watters and Geoffrey and Alexandra Legge since 1964. 
“109 Riley Street has significant historic value in Sydney, as it dates from a key period of Darlinghurst development during the subdivision of grand estates into residential and commercial development,” said Miron Solomons, National Director, Investment Services at Colliers International. 
The space has had a variety of uses over time, originally as a boot warehouse from 1858 – 1862, then used as retail space and also operated as a hotel until 1968, where it was converted to an art gallery by architect Don Gazzard.
Watters Gallery is named after director and owner Frank Watters who lived above the gallery since 1970.

Described as a light, raw, freestanding lightweight struc­ture, Carnegie’s inner-Sydney contemporary abode was a 519sqm private sanctuary. It was set in the 1926 monumental Beaux Arts building designed by church member S. George Thorp from Peddle Thorp and Walker on the 2080sqm Liverpool and Forbes street corner site.
The faith was established in Sydney in 1900 coming from the mother church in Boston. The first services at the new premises were in July 1927.
The building, including the pipe organ, cost about £30,000 with the Beaux Arts style ­usually fancied by institutions wishing to express wealth and stability.
Carnegie, who studied science at the University of Melbourne, majoring in zoology since he wanted to be a marine biologist, joined the business world taking a summer job in the mid-1980s on Wall Street at a venture capital firm set up by James Wolfensohn.
He is preparing to host an F. Scott Fitzgerald 1920s themed house moving party in December.

The architectural desire was to leave the existing fabric untouched in the 1926 monumental Beaux Arts building designed by church member S. George Thorp from Peddle Thorp and Walker after the 2,080-square-metre Liverpool Street site was bought in 1923 for £9,000.

The faith was established in Sydney in 1900 and recognised by the mother church in Boston in 1902. The first services at the new premises were in July 1927.
The building, including the pipe organ, cost about £30,000. The Beaux Arts style was usually applied to financial institutions to express wealth and stability. The church had an auditorium for 1,000 people. In the 1950s the congregation bought carriage lights from the old Sun-Herald building and installed them on the outside walls.
Architectural firm BatesSmart oversaw the project which was built in 14 weeks.

REIA president Malcolm Gunning lists Darlinghurst investment apartment

The Georgian-designed former Darlinghurst home of interior designer Darryl Gordon has been sold again for $1,876,000.
Gordon sold the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-nsw-darlinghurst-129209802" target="_blank">Francis Street cottage</a> for $1.66 million in 2014 when it had been listed with $1.3 million plus hopes.
He doubled his money during his long ownership, having paid $730,000 in 2001.

Architecturally redesigned Darlinghurst terrace sold

Best-selling author Sue Wolfe and her playwrite husband Gordon Graham are selling their apartment in Darlinghurst's Art Deco St James building.
They will not be moving far, apparently heading from level two to level seven in the same Stanley Street block.
Their redundant apartment features a combined living and dining area and a study nook.
She wrote her latest book, Do You Love Me or What? in the living room. 
Laing + Simmons Potts Point agent Nuri Shik is marketing the apartment which was leased at $430 a week late last year.
One of the city's early 20th century landmarks, St James Apartments was built in 1926 in the Chicago School of Architecture style. 
Raised in the Blue Mountains, Wolfe completed her first novel, Painted Woman, was runner-up in the ABC Bicentennial Awards.
Later she adapted the novel for stage and radio.
Her biggest success came for the her 1996 novel Leaning Towards Infinity which won the distinguished Christina Stead Award.
A few years later it was named in Australia as one of the most important books of the century.
