Sydney developer <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/deicorp">Deicorp</a> has secured planning approval for a $300 million residential development in Lindfield, marking the company’s second project on Sydney’s North Shore and its first on the Upper North Shore.

Located on Beaconsfield Parade and designed by DKO Architecture, the state significant development comprises three buildings of up to 10 storeys and will include 399 residences, including 59 affordable homes and 40 adaptable homes.

Residences will range in size from one, two and three bedrooms, with two-bedroom apartments accounting for over 60 per cent of the product make-up. Residents will have access to a broad suite of amenities, including a wellness area, indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, a pool, a gym, a community room and a golf simulator.

In line with Deicorp’s long-standing focus on creating transit-oriented communities, the project is located just 260 metres from the Lindfield Train Station, reinforcing its role in delivering well-connected housing close to established infrastructure, retail and local services.

The inclusion of affordable and adaptable housing supports greater diversity within the local market, while the mix of apartment types responds to demand from downsizers, young professionals and families seeking access to the Upper North Shore.

Trump Hotel heads for the Gold Coast to become Australia's tallest building

More than a century after the Corrimal Coke Works first opened in 1912, the industrial landmark that helped shape the suburb is being reinterpreted as a walkable residential neighbourhood, with Stage One of <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-works-stage-one-27-railway-street-corrimal-nsw-2518">The Works</a> now underway at 27 Railway Street.

Designed by renowned architects, Woods Bagot, the residences will stay sympathetic to the site’s history and heritage, with plans to craft a modern interpretation of an art deco building, delivering 14 two and three-bedroom.

Two apartments will sit across each floorplate, spanning from 95 sqm to 150 sqm, with the level six apartments benefiting from a private rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and seating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In keeping with surrounding roof terraces, the proposal celebrates the crowning space with a communal resident’s space as well, complete with dining and seating space in addition to the covered amenity space across the ground level.&nbsp;

The building palette is derived from the site through native planting, sandstone materiality, and detailing reminiscent of the original buildings that surround it.&nbsp;

Whilst the glimmer of The Cross has diminished, a resilient sparkle remains through natural metals, the most polished of which adorns the entrances of the buildings.

The 1970's was a particularly hedonistic period of Darlinghurst's history; filled with the character's that have become urban legends and colourful stories of questionable behaviour.

It was during this period that the terrace houses that once occupied the site succumbed to a particularly damaging fire, destroying all structure.&nbsp;

Remnants of these houses and the fire itself are traced through the contrast in brickwork of the adjoining apartment buildings, while a clear outline is preserved and made visible through the open balconies that flank the proposal.&nbsp;

The other remnant of the original terrace houses is the raised ground level that the terrace houses once sat upon which has to been preserved to create a dialog with the surrounding terrace houses.

In a nod to the original rhythm of Liverpool Street, a continuation of the sandstone fence that marks the boundary and entrance alignment is continued at the face of the new proposal.&nbsp;

“From the first glimpses of the site, this sits the building within the cadence of Liverpool Street at a human scale,” the development application says.&nbsp;

As an interpretation of the apartment buildings that surround, 349 Liverpool Street marks its entrance with a strong vertical element.&nbsp;

“Seen as a continuation of the sandstone materiality, this is an opportunity to identify the building through interpretive art or by overlaying the stories of the characters that once resided in the area.”

The proposed design maintains the original ground plane to preserve this visible link to the terrace houses that once occupied the site while the open breezeway also allows for natural light and air through the length of the building.

In collaboration with Dangar Barin Smith, the landscape design and plant selection for the proposal not only contributes to the liveability of the residences, but also speaks to the origins of the site pre-settlement.

Toohey Miller to build art-deco apartments on Darlinghurst heritage-conservation site

The Sydney-based developer Hansen Investment Group Australia (HIGA) has launched their loft apartment product in their contemporary $80 million East Sydney collection in Darlinghurst.

Easy Sydney, a rare new apartment building in the sought-after inner-city suburb filled with grand terraces and older apartment buildings, has been designed by the high profile design teams at&nbsp;MHNDU and Lawless Meyerson.

They&#39;re developing the five-level block of 27 on&nbsp;the site of the former Aston Martin dealership, with the heritage features being retained as part of the project.

There&#39;s been appetite from downsizers, given the location&#39;s proximity to the city.

HIGA chose the site due to its location on the fringe of Hyde Park at&nbsp;22-38&nbsp;Yurong Street,&nbsp;which puts it in to the category of a 15 minute city, a term coined by&nbsp;French professor Carlos Moreno.

According to Moreno, each 15-minute city should fulfil six&nbsp;social functions&mdash;living, working, supplying, caring, learning and enjoying. It reduces residents&rsquo; environmental footprints by boosting green initiatives, creativity and wellbeing at a neighbourhood level and reducing travel, urban density, pollution and loneliness.

The loft product, known as Stanley Lane Lofts, just off the hotspot Stanley Street, lined with bars and restaurants, will have&nbsp;mezzanine spaces,&nbsp;classic steel-framed windows&nbsp;and steel-framed kitchen islands, and terrazzo floors in the classic bathrooms.&nbsp;MHNDU has reimagined the original 1930s art deco saw-tooth warehouse, creating a canvas for living and entertaining. Sales of trophy apartments continued in Sydney despite the elevated lockdown restrictions.

There was a $3.3 million sale of a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in Harry Seidler&rsquo;s Horizon building.

The panorama includes Sydney&rsquo;s Harbour, Bridge, Opera House, and the CBD skyline from its 23rd floor.

It sold in February 2020 at $2.4 million.

It was sold by Richardson &amp; Wrench Elizabeth Bay.

There were 685 auction results for apartments and townhouses across the capital cities over the past week, with a 68 percent success rate, according to CoreLogic.

The three bedroom apartment has views across the waters of Port Phillip Bay spanning from Williamstown, past St.Kilda and down towards the Mornington Peninsula.&nbsp;

It last sold at $935,000 in 2007.

The complex has an in-ground swimming pool and a gymnasium.

The cinematographer Tom Black has bought a one bedroom Darlinghurst apartment for $550,000.

It is set on William Street.

It was sold by Nuri Shik of Laing+Simmons who had given a $555,000 guide.

The 37 sqm space was listed by theatre director Alex Galeazzi who had paid $150,000 in 2012 for the apartment in the 1926 complex, Barkley Apartments, a renovated block of 10. 

The block's architect was Henry E. White who designed theatres, including the State Theatre and Capital Theatre along with the Palais in St Kilda in Melbourne.

Born in New Zealand in 1876, the Depression marked the end of White's architectural career.

The Australian Dictionary of Biography noted White died in 1952 at Kings Cross, Sydney, and while he had reputedly earned over £1 million in architectural fees, had his sworn estate for probate at £1147.

William Street was once envisaged as a chance for one of Sydney's grandest residential boulevards when conceived by architect John Sulman.

The apartment had been a recent periodic rental, last advertised in 2019 at $430 a week, and styled for sale by Natalie Fryer of m2 property presentation.

The 24 year old first time buyer secured shared rooftop patio space in the Art Deco complex where the previous highest apartment sale was $485,000 in 2015.

Just days after celebrity chef Bill Granger closed his Darlinghurst cafe, the vacated space has been listed for an October 22 auction.
The corner shop, along with a seven-room boarding house, last traded in 1999 at $960,000. The listing is under instructions from HoganSprowles, the administrator of its Mittagong-based landlord company.
Granger has been in Liverpool St since 1993, with his last registered lease struck in 2013 at $103,000 a year.
Bill and his wife Natalie Elliott live in London with their three daughters after selling at Bronte for $3.4 million in 2014 and in Tamarama for $6.4 million in 2016.
The international chain operates locally at Surry Hills and Bondi, where its move into the Toga-built project came shortly after it closed in Woollahra in 2014.
The whispers are that Toga wants Bills at its latest project, The Hunter in Double Bay, but nothing has been signed.
“There’s been a lot to grapple with these past few months and we think it’s best to close Darlinghurst for a while to focus on Surry Hills and Bondi,” Granger’s Instagram posting advised.
“Obviously, there are lots of restrictions that make life that little bit tougher. Restaurants are not made for social distancing!”
The inopportune marketing by Colliers still suggests the property offered an “ideal ­defensive mix of tenancies” ­despite Bills’ closure.

Darlinghurst sub-penthouse with Sydney harbour views hits the market

Powerhouse litigator Amanda Banton is set to emerge as the mystery purchaser of one of Darlinghurst’s last decrepit Victorian terraces.  

Word is after the uninhabitable five-bedroom Surrey St home sold for $4.6m that Banton engaged William Smart Architects to work on the restoration investment project.

The home attracted 18 registered bidders at its BresicWhitney auction despite needing $2m plus in renovation work. There were three bidders at $4.6m for the 278sqm property with 7.6m frontage.

The hoarder home, offered with rooms cordoned off with danger tape, last tra­ded in 1976 at $43,000.

Darlinghurst had 40 sales over the past year at a $1.9m median, according to ­realestate.com.au.

The Rose Bay-based lawyer has just kicked off her new Martin Place legal firm, Banton Group specialising in insolvency and litigation.

Her partners have made significant recoveries for clients, including $200m plus against Lehman Brothers and $215m against Standard and Poors.

Banton Group recently acted successfully on a pro-bono basis to represent a ­grieving family excluded from the class action in the MH17 appeal.

Corporate lawyer Amanda Banton buys $4.6 million Darlo dump
