Repeat buyers are one of the strongest measures of confidence in any apartment development.

Keith Wilton had spent years living in a house in East Maitland before deciding it was time for a change. Apartment living had always been on his radar, but he was selective about what he wanted.

“One of those things was a nice indoor open plan area, but also I wanted a nice outdoor open area that I could entertain on in summer or Christmases or birthdays,” he says.

Today, Keith says the move has completely changed how he experiences Newcastle.

"I enjoy living in this location because it's more of a lifestyle change. That Newcastle city living where you can walk to restaurants and bars and even beaches and parks and even shopping across the road."

For Aimee and Lyle Goodman, the journey started almost by chance.

"We were aware GWH was planning a development," Aimee says. "We made one phone call and things moved pretty quickly after that."

As busy business owners, they initially thought apartment living would simply reduce the maintenance that came with larger homes. Instead, it fundamentally changed how they spent time together.

"We actually catch up more as a family now," Aimee says.

The judging submission also highlighted practical innovations throughout the building, including lift cores servicing only nine homes each, a central landscaped lightcourt designed to bring daylight and ventilation into the building, and fully enclosed private storage rooms with lighting, power and shelving to better accommodate residents transitioning from larger family homes.

The Gold Award for Interior Design recognised the project's focus on long-term liveability rather than display-home aesthetics.

According to the awards submission, the interiors were designed from the inside out, prioritising how homes would function over decades of daily use through generous proportions, practical storage, durable natural materials and flexible layouts.

The specification includes natural stone throughout, upgraded acoustic glazing, V-ZUG appliances and fully enclosed storage rooms, alongside an amenity offering focused on wellness, entertainment and everyday convenience.&nbsp;

The apartment price gap drawing Sydney buyers west

A luxury beachfront apartment at Rainbow Bay has more than doubled in value since it sold off the plan six years ago, setting a new local apartment record in the process.

The three-bedroom apartment in the Flow development on Petrie Street, the first of four new projects locally by Paul Gedoun's S&amp;S Projects, has sold for $7.4 million, after originally selling for $3.27 million when the project launched in 2020.

The seventh-floor apartment, comprising 187 sqm of internal living space and a 54 sqm balcony overlooking Froggies Beach and Snapper Rocks, was purchased by a local family.

The transaction was negotiated by Pezet Matheson director Kerry Pezet and equates to more than $30,000 per sqm.

Pezet said the sale reflected the limited opportunities to buy into the boutique beachfront development.

"The sale highlights the rarity of opportunities within the boutique beachfront development, where residences seldom become available," Pezet said.

"Flow is one of the Gold Coast's most tightly held buildings. Buyers from our database move quickly when residences become available, and achieving an off-market sale at $7.4 million demonstrates the depth of demand for property of this calibre."

The 268 Domain Road trophy home was previously the longtime home of the late Peter Rand, the eccentric millionaire son of the late Sir Thomas Rand.
The property's name is derived from pastoralist relative, Robert Rand's Mohonga station in regional NSW.
The five bedroom Domain Road trophy home built in the 1920s by architect Irwin Stephenson.
Living there quietly since the 1960s, Rand only made the news in 1993 when he paid around $700,000 for the adjacent property to cut down a tree that was blocking his view.
Mohonga was part of a $50 million property portfolio which also included the Sisters estate in Sorrento which sold to the Shelmerdine family for $19 million in 2008.

Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate lists Paradise Waters luxury home

Savills International have recently launched the marketing for a trophy property in Germany, close to Berlin.
Villa Kampffmeyer stands as one of the most important private residences in Germany. The four-bedroom Baroque-inspired villa in Potsdam was built in the 1920s for a family of a flour tycoon.
It’s on the market for €28m ($41.2 million).
It is situated within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at the edge of the water marking the historical boundary between Berlin and Potsdam.
It has views of two of Prussia's famed imperial castles.
Villa Kampffmeyer was erected as the first Baroque inspired private house in the vicinity of Glienicke Bridge across from Babelsberg Castle, which served as summer residence of Emperor William I. 
The house draws its inspiration from neo-classical and baroque styles, and is framed by a grand entrance portico on one side and a multitiered rounded cupola on the other, adorned by a statue of the Greek God Hermes.
Villa Kampffmeyer extends over 15,000 square feet of living and usable space set within two acres of waterside landscaped gardens with century-old trees — a fitting vis-à-vis to the park of Babelsberg Castle.
It was temporarily used during the Potsdam Conference in 1945, and since German reunification has played host to international dignitaries and royalty.
The house was featured in Architectural Digest Magazine in April 2015.
The entrance is adorned by Three Graces and Mercury sculptures, the Greek mythological patron of commerce. The sculptures were created by Ernst Vogel, who's distinguished himself for his work on the Reichstag, the seat of parliament in Berlin.
West Berlin is less than a 25 minute drive from Villa Kampffmeyer.

Lactura, the long-time Centennial Park home of high profile TV executive David Leckie and his charity cheerleader wife, Skye, was pulled from scheduled auction.
It seems the interested parties just weren't ready to buy. The new auction date is now September 17 with no amendments to the $11.5 million price guide by McGrath agents Ben Collier and Dominqiue Ogilvie.
The Leckie's have owned the grand two storey home on the tightly held Lang Road since 1998 when David was chief executive of the Nine Network under Kerry Packer.
He paid $2.5 million for the 1910 residence. They are looking towards the inner east harbourside suburbs for an apartment along with a working farm on their radar too.
