CPG unveils Castile Newstead ahead of upcoming sales launch

Australia’s online shopping habits have shifted dramatically over the last decade. As eCommerce volumes surged, so too did the frustrations that came with traditional parcel delivery: missed deliveries, long Post Office queues, parcel theft and the challenge of being home during business hours.

Australia Post’s Parcel Lockers emerged as one of the more practical responses to that changing consumer behaviour.

What started as a relatively niche delivery option has evolved into a nationwide network of more than 1,400 self-service Parcel Lockers positioned at train stations, shopping centres, supermarkets and Post Offices across the country. The system allows Australians to send, collect and return parcels 24 hours a day, fundamentally changing how many people interact with deliveries.

The appeal is relatively straightforward: flexibility.

Instead of waiting at home for a delivery driver or rushing to a Post Office before closing time, users can direct eligible parcels to a Parcel Locker location of their choice. Once the parcel arrives, Australia Post sends a notification with a collection code or QR access through the AusPost app, allowing customers to retrieve their package at any time within the collection window.

For apartment residents in particular, the system has become increasingly valuable.

Higher-density living has created logistical challenges around deliveries, especially in buildings without concierge services or secure parcel rooms. Missed deliveries are common, while parcel theft has become an increasing concern as online shopping volumes continue to rise.

Australia Post itself has repeatedly highlighted the growing issue of “porch pirates” during peak shopping periods, encouraging customers to use Parcel Lockers as a safer alternative to unattended home deliveries.

That security aspect is one of the key reasons the Australia Post Parcel Locker network has grown so rapidly.

Parcel Lockers are positioned as secure, monitored collection points that reduce the risk of theft while also improving delivery efficiency for Australia Post. Instead of multiple redelivery attempts, parcels can be consolidated into a single secure destination.

The Parcel Lockers themselves are free to use through a MyPost account and support a range of parcel sizes up to 16 kilograms and dimensions of approximately 35 x 44 x 61 centimetres.

Beyond receiving parcels, the system has increasingly become integrated into the broader eCommerce ecosystem.

Customers can now use Parcel Lockers to return online purchases, while retailers have embraced the model as a way to improve delivery success rates and reduce friction in the shopping process. Australia Post has actively expanded partnerships with major retailers and promoted Parcel Lockers as part of a broader out-of-home strategy.

The timing of that expansion aligns with broader changes in Australian shopping behaviour.

The acceleration of online retail during and after the pandemic placed enormous pressure on delivery infrastructure. Parcel volumes reached record highs, particularly during Black Friday and Christmas periods, with Australia Post delivering more than 100 million parcels during peak festive seasons.

That growth forced logistics providers to rethink the “last mile” of delivery, widely regarded as the most expensive and operationally difficult stage of the process.

Parcel Locker systems have increasingly been viewed as part of the long-term solution.

The concept itself is not unique to Australia. Parcel Locker networks have become common globally, particularly across Europe and Asia, where dense urban environments and apartment living create similar logistical challenges. But Australia’s geography and suburban sprawl made adoption slower initially.

Now, however, the convenience factor is driving mainstream usage.

For commuters, Parcel Lockers near train stations allow parcels to be collected on the way home from work. For apartment dwellers, they remove the uncertainty around access and missed deliveries.

The rise of the AusPost app has also streamlined the experience, centralising notifications, tracking and Parcel Locker access into a single platform. Australia Post has increasingly pushed customers toward app-based delivery management, partly as a way to combat phishing scams and fake delivery notifications, which have become more sophisticated in recent years.

The Parcel Locker model is also beginning to influence property development itself.

Parcel management has become a growing consideration in apartment building design, particularly as online shopping becomes embedded in everyday life. Many new residential developments are now incorporating dedicated parcel rooms or Parcel Locker systems into foyers and communal spaces.

For developers, parcel management is increasingly viewed as part of the broader resident amenity offering, alongside gyms, wellness spaces and communal work areas.

That reflects a wider evolution in how residential buildings are designed.

Apartment buyers are placing greater emphasis on convenience, security and operational functionality, particularly in higher-density urban environments. Parcel delivery, once considered a minor operational detail, has become an increasingly important part of that equation.

Australia Post’s Parcel Locker network sits at the centre of that behavioural shift.

What began as a simple alternative delivery option has evolved into a key piece of infrastructure supporting Australia’s growing eCommerce economy and changing urban lifestyles.

Perth’s new apartment market recorded its strongest quarter of sales since Q4 2021, with 412 apartments sold in Q1 2026 and a record quarterly sold value of $537 million, according to Urbis’ latest Apartment Essentials results.

Urbis said the March quarter result reflects strong, highly product‑specific demand across both ends of the market, from more attainable projects delivering at scale, through to premium stock being absorbed by equity‑rich downsizers.&nbsp;

David Cresp, Partner at Urbis, said the key story in Perth is not demand, it is the market’s ability to convert demand into delivered housing.&nbsp;

“This is the strongest sales quarter since Q4 2021, and it reinforces that demand in Perth is real and it’s local,” David Cresp said. “But the task now is delivery, turning that demand into projects that can actually be built and completed.”&nbsp;

Sales in Q1 were led by more affordable projects, with The Boulevard (SKS Group) recording 115 sales in the quarter, the presentation noting this is only the second time a single project has surpassed 100 quarterly sales. The project was able to offer more affordable housing product right next to a train station.&nbsp;

Palmyra West (Finbar) also delivered strong results with 28 sales in Q1, following 84 sales in Q4, with an average price of under $800,000, underscoring depth of demand for well‑located, attainable new stock.&nbsp;

At the premium end, Urbis said downsizer demand is continuing, with the results highlighting Romeo (Applecross, Finbar) recording 75 sales and reaching almost 50% sold in one quarter.

Jual (Shenton Park, Celsius Property) also posted a strong quarter with 28 sales, reaching 39% sold in one quarter.

Urbis noted that Perth apartment demand is not speculative, not investor‑led, and not uniform, describing it as localised, often equity‑driven and highly product‑specific, a pattern reflected in the polarisation between strong “attainable” performers and premium downsizer product.&nbsp;

Urbis said pricing pressure is cost not demand‑driven: construction costs and delivery risk are now a central constraint, with the results noting build costs remain elevated and volatile, and that energy, fuel and labour uncertainty weigh on feasibility.

David Cresp said a growing challenge for private Build‑to‑Sell developers is simply securing a builder in the current environment.

“Developers are really feeling the pressure from a building market that was operating at capacity and securing a builder is challenging,” David Cresp said, adding that even where a builder can be secured, “trying to get to the price that makes the development financially viable is incredibly challenging in the current market.”&nbsp;

Urbis’ broader WA commentary also notes that industry remains at or above capacity with lot and housing creation, and that many builders are limiting new sales to manage stretched workforces and fixed‑price contract pressures, conditions that flow directly into apartment feasibility and delivery timing.

<h2>Supply: improving later, but still constrained, and Perth lags eastern benchmarks</h2>

While near‑term supply remains constrained, Urbis’ forecast shows completions lifting “Supply is forecast to be back above 1,500 apartments per annum for the first time since 2019”, with 1,775 completions forecast for 2026, and volumes remaining above that level over the following years.&nbsp;

Looking further ahead, completions are forecast to reach 2,500 in 2028, with the report noting 32% of that total is social/affordable, reflecting the role of government‑supported delivery in rebuilding the pipeline.&nbsp;

However, Urbis said Perth remains behind comparable markets on pipeline scale. In a national comparison of projects under construction, the report shows under construction Perth Build‑to‑Sell (BTS) at 3,446 apartments versus the Gold Coast at 7,922. Mr Cresp said “The challenge for Perth is how to we grow the delivery pipeline”.

Urbis’ conclusion is that Perth’s market is increasingly defined by product discipline and delivery certainty, with the research identifying “delivery certainty is key” and calling out builder risk and procurement models as core success factors, alongside “timing and staging”.&nbsp;

Perth apartment sales hit strongest pace since late 2021 as builder capacity tightens

<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/sammut-developments">Sammut Group</a> has secured development approval for its latest Brisbane apartment project, marking the Sydney developer’s next step in expanding its Queensland pipeline following the success of its debut Gold Coast development, Coast.

The approved project at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/44-glen-road-toowong-qld-4066">44 Glen Road, </a><a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developments/toowong-qld-4066">Toowong</a> will deliver a 15-storey riverfront apartment building with 42 residences, significantly increasing the scale of the site’s previous approval for a smaller luxury scheme. Designed by Bureau^proberts, the development will comprise a mix of predominantly four-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments positioned to maximise Brisbane River and city views.

Sammut Director Julian Sammut said the group had been actively searching Brisbane for several years before identifying Toowong as the right fit.

“Brisbane was the right step for Sammut,” Sammut said.

“With the success of Coast we thought we should definitely look to do more in Queensland alone. We then pushed up to look at Brisbane. We've been looking for I'd say two to three years actually and it was hard to find the right location.”

Sammut said suburbs including New Farm and Teneriffe were considered before the group ultimately focused on Toowong due to its strong downsizer demographic and limited supply of developable riverfront land.

The site was acquired off-market after what Sammut described as a lengthy negotiation and planning process, with the developer pursuing an uplift to the original approval.

“We are DA approved now which is very exciting,” Sammut said.

“We've had our change approval come through and we've obviously doubled the height, 15 storeys plus rooftop. We've got 42 amazing apartments that are going to be coming to market soon.”

Bureau^proberts said the design responds to Toowong’s evolving urban character, balancing contemporary apartment living with the area’s established residential identity.

“A place where traditional Queensland living has taken place for centuries; Toowong is seeing a shift of contemporary influence, commercial and retail hubs mixed with well-considered residential offerings – all the while maintaining its character and charm,” the architect noted in planning documents submitted to Brisbane City Council.

The architecture practice said the project’s form was shaped by its riverfront setting, flood considerations, neighbouring building scales, and view corridors.

“They said the mix of four and two-bedroom apartments capture the ‘fundamental qualities of Queenslander living,’ translated into the context of a contemporary subtropical building.”

The development sits just off Coronation Drive within walking distance of Toowong’s retail precinct and the upgraded Regatta ferry terminal, while also benefiting from proximity to the incoming green bridge connection to West End. Sammut said the accessibility and amenity offering were central to the site’s appeal.

The approval adds to growing residential activity along the Toowong riverfront, joining nearby projects including Consolidated Properties’ Monarch Residences and Spyre Group’s ARC Residences.

Sammut secures approval for debut Brisbane apartment development in Toowong

Developer Lanevick is heading back into Sydney’s apartment market after focusing more heavily on the luxury townhouse and terrace sector in recent years.

Lanevick, founded and directed by Steve Maroun, is expecting to receive approval in the coming months for a new apartment development in Gladesville, with the aim to launch it to the market later this year.

The 51-apartment project, designed by Studio Johnston, will comprise a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments positioned toward the Hunters Hill downsizer market.

“Traditionally it’s been difficult for people in that market to downsize because there just hasn’t been the right product available,” Maroun said.

“We’re targeting buyers who might have 30 to 40 per cent of their house value sitting in the bank after downsizing.

“They still want good spacious entertaining areas, they still want quality design, but they also want flexibility and the ability to enjoy life a bit more after working hard for a long time.”

The project sits near Boronia Park and within close proximity to the Parramatta River foreshore, an area Maroun says offers more of a Hunters Hill lifestyle than a traditional apartment precinct.

“From a lifestyle perspective, it’s really more Hunters Hill than Gladesville,” Maroun said. “You’re close to the foreshore, close to parklands, and still connected back into the village precinct.”

From level four and above, apartments will capture water views&nbsp;toward Sydney Harbour. Communal amenity will include rooftop entertaining areas, wellness spaces, and a gym tailored toward owner-occupier buyers.

“We’ve really designed these apartments around that buyer coming from the Hunters Hill LGA and what they’re actually looking for in their next chapter.”

The proposed development has also been designed to respond to the changing character of the broader Gladesville town centre, where a growing number of mixed-use and residential proposals are expected to emerge over the coming years.

“Gladesville presented a rare opportunity to deliver a genuinely design-led residential project within an evolving lifestyle precinct, just moments from the growing Gladesville town centre, and we’ve approached the project with a strong focus on architecture, liveability and long-term community value,” Maroun said.

Maroun said Lanevick saw a first-mover advantage within the precinct as planning controls continue to evolve to accommodate greater housing density.

“We think there’s a real opportunity there that hasn’t really been serviced properly yet,” he said.

“There’s going to be a broader evolution of the whole Gladesville village precinct over time, particularly with more activation and mixed-use outcomes.”

The Venus Street proposal will include a commercial and retail component at ground level designed to contribute to that evolving streetscape activation.

“A big part of the thinking was how do you activate that area properly and create more vibrancy and amenity, which is what Hunters Hill has been looking for,” Maroun said.

Lanevick’s focus since 2020 has largely been on smaller-scale luxury townhouse and terrace developments. The developer recently completed Royale Randwick, also designed by Studio Johnston, where prices reached $3.65 million. The project was featured in the UDIA NSW 2026 Professional Development Prospectus and was also named a finalist for Development of the Year.

A new bar is opening in Sydney’s CBD western corridor and it will be the first video-gamed themed small bar in the entire city.
Set to be located at 199 Clarence Street, and close to Baxter Inn, Lobo Plantation, Papa Gede’s and Since I Left You, the premises were leased by Spawn Point through John Skufris from Ray White Commercial for a private owner.
 “199 Clarence Street offered a lower ground whole floor tenancy with its own amenities, the availability of after hour access and was previously leased as storage space,” Skufris said.
“We were informed this is the Sydney CBD's first and only video gaming-themed small bar.”
The site is between Town Hall and Wynyard.

“The top floor is currently available for lease with an internal staircase to the building's rooftop area,” he said.
The entire building is six-storeys with a sandstone façade, and comes with independent air conditioning and its own amenities. It had been advertised as having the potential for a small bar subject to council approval – which it appears has been successfully achieved.
Spawn Point, founded by IT-professional and Sydney gamer Ben Mudie and Welder and Central Coast gamer Ben Shute, has taken a three year lease at gross rental of $475 per square metre per annum. The space is 88 square metres.
In June they managed to achieve Licensed Premises status from council.
They will have some tables with in-built arcade machines, and will offer cocktails, locally brewed beer on tap and they will also be accepting BITCOIN payments using a QRCode system via smartphones. Consoles include Xbox, Playstation, Game Cube, Nintendo and a number of vintage systems. These include Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo 64 and the Mega Drive 2.
“The small bar will target a different culture of people rather than the typical bar crowd,” documents submitted to <a href="https://development.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/Datasource/DANotifications/1141038_007.pdf" target="_blank">Council explain</a>.
The notes indicate that the bar has a maximum of 39 sitting, with a total of 60 patrons (not including staff) at any one time.
"The closest residential building is Windsor On Kent located at 365 Kent Street that is approximately 100 meters away. The next closest residential building being Broughton House located at 181 Clarence Street that is approximately 160 meters away," it explains. According to an acoustic report they provided, there shouldn't be adverse ambient noise problems noticed by the residents.
Windsor on Kent's two-bedroom apartments sell for around $700,000 to upwards of $900,000. 
"Signage will be put in place advising our patrons to leave in a quiet fashion to avoid any disturbance to residents of the CBD."

The proposed hours of business operation included Monday to Sunday 0800 to 0100 the next day, with alcohol to be served from 12.01 to 0045, though it's likely the bar will actually open from mid-afternoon onwards.
Casual and full time staff are expected to be hired.
Some renovations were noted as necessary, including to remove existing carpeting, removing a non-structural wall to create a single large room and removing the kitchenette to be replaced with a bar. Floating wood floor over concrete slab will be in place of the carpet. The bathrooms are also undergoing a re-tiling and replacing the vanities.
The lighting will retain the fluorescent that is currently in the building, and will include directional low powering lighting.
The street façade is the only aspect that would cause issues in regards to heritage listing – and no plans have been proposed to alter this. The internals had been previously modernised.
While it’s the first video game bar, and will likely see vast interest, there have been a number of board game bars and cafes around Sydney.
Glebe’s Bar 99 featured traditional boardgames such as Battleship and Trivial Pursuit, while Madam FlingFlong in Newtown featured Yahtzee, Cluedo and Connect Four. Both no longer operate.
Melburnians will be looking on with interest, following Mana Bar, a similar video game offering, which closed in September last year.

Altivolo won the first race under lights at the Harold Park Paceway in October 1949.
Altivolo, bred by Edgar Tatlow in Tasmania for Harry Williams, was by a champion sire, Raider, from a Grattan Loyal mare named Attain.  
Altivolo will be positioned at the gateway to the Harold Park development. The building rises three storeys from street level shaped around a central courtyard.

About $875,000 had been tipped, but $1,055,000 was achieved at the weekend auction of a Surry Hills warehouse apartment in Sydney Mansions.
Behind the heritage brownstone facade, the three bedroom apartment in the former Mark Foy's warehouse has 113 internal square metre space.
It was converted in late 1999 and renovated in 2011. The strata levy sits at $2,267 a quarter.
The Ray White Surry Hills agency marketed it as "Manhattan-loft cool".

The two-level home has one bathroom plus plumbing for a second shower.
With an open design with 5.1 metre ceilings, 301/133 Goulburn Street had a northerly aspect through large windows.
There was one security car space. 
It had last traded for $815,000 in mid-2012 when <a href="/news">Surry Hills apartments median was $505,000</a>, against the <a href="/news">current $585,000 median</a>, according to RP Data.
It first sold in 2000 at $490,000 and then at $575,000 in 2004.
Property Observer gleans the warehouse for department store Mark Foy's had previously had eight sales above $800,000, with an $845,000 prior record. The most recent was a one bedroom loft style apartment sold at $800,000.
The most popular suburb for auctions on the weekend was Surry Hills with nine auctions, according to Australian Property Monitors.

Sydney's recent real estate price gains have been "catch up", according to the ANZ boss Philip Chronican.
"For all the talk of a property bubble, when you look at Sydney real estate versus the rest of Australia, what has been happening is again more just a sense of catch up," <a href="https://bluenotes.anz.com/posts/2014/07/remember-nsw-its-a-leading-economy-once-more/" target="_blank">Chronican wrote on the bank's bluenotes website.</a>
"A decade ago it would have been a bit obvious to say NSW was driving the Australian economy but it does actually sound slightly odd to be saying that today.
"After all, NSW has no iron ore, no LNG, tourism slumped in the decade after the Olympics and NSW property prices have lagged the rest of the country.
"But NSW is returning to pre-2003, the last time it out-performed the Australian economy."
He said his view had been reinforced by a recent tour of the state with the period between 2003 and 2013 "something of an aberration".
He said there was no doubt there was a hangover in NSW after the Olympics, following a period when the economy and the property market had grown excessively.
"Then the rest of Australia took off, particularly Western Australia and Queensland, with the resource investment boom. 
"The story today then is one of recovery," he said adding ANZ’s chief economist Warren Hogan had been emphasising how strong the NSW outlook was in recent research.
"The unemployment rate in Sydney has fallen below 5% compared with a jobless rate of more than 6% for the rest of Australia," wrote Chronican.
"Construction and real estate employment have risen, international student arrivals are up, the latest NSW budget showed improved operating balances and lower net debt.
"The NSW economy is expected to be buoyed by substantial infrastructure spending in coming years as an expected $20 billion in proceeds from the privatisation of electricity networks is invested in new projects.

Sydney property price playing catchup: ANZ's Philip Chronican

There goes another financial year where for all intents and purposes profits should have been up and back to pre-global financial crisis (GFC) levels.
Some a step further by posting all time record profits given their respective graduation from the GFC together with the valuable lessons learned, which were then adopted then executed.
Having said that we should closely look at <a href="/expert-insights/finance/the-reserve-bank-s-four-prevailing-views-on-the-property-market-glenn-stevens">the Reserve Bank’s four prevailing views on the property market </a>as each and every point raised is not just a concern but more of a forecast which in all probability will eventuate.
The most important message from Glenn Stevens is aimed squarely at property investors: “Investors should take care in the Sydney market, which is the main area where a large increase in borrowing has been occurring. The total value of credit approvals for investor loans in New South Wales was about 130% higher than in 2008, and it is the investor segment where there has been evidence of some increased level in lending with loan to value ratios above 80%.”
Now whilst we are on this subject in many ways the investor demographic in Sydney to me is like one big Ponzi scheme.
This week we saw headlines like “Sydney property market posts new figures showing a 15.4% growth over the financial year”. Whilst to a degree this may be correct the methodology is false, misleading and entirely wrong as the method is based on the median (middle) price where real estate in Australia is the only country which uses this calculation method.
Firstly, Sydney at a guess is made up of over 700 suburbs – so by throwing in the wealthiest suburbs that recorded $30 million and $40 million sales with suburbs which record $300,000 and $400,000 sales, it’s pretty clear this methodology is flawed to such an extent it implies false conclusions.
The debt trap is what Glenn Stevens is alluding to and those unsuspecting highly geared investors thinking 15% growth are badly advised where, depending on their gearing, they could find themselves in all sorts of trouble.
Real estate is not that hard to calculate so long as you know what are the correct numbers you should be calculating when it comes to reading and understanding a demographic market. The only way this can be done correctly is to look at individual markets such as a particular suburb – I will use my specialist market, <a href="/news">Mosman</a>, which has approximately 4,800 houses.
Next you need to ascertain how many houses are on the market each week where this week there are 63 houses, last week 74 houses and twelve months ago there were 63 houses for sale. Next work out how many houses sell each year:

<li>2011/12  – 297 houses sold for a total value of $829,747,992. Average price $2,793,764</li>
<li>2012/13 – 306 houses sold for a total value of $846,621,000. Average price $2,766,735</li>
<li>2013/14 – 365* houses sold for a total value of $1,045,514,637. Average price $2,864,424</li>
</ul>
*These figures will get higher as more properties settle and the sales data becomes available.
Before the GFC the Mosman market was running at full steam when it cracked the $1 billion mark in value sales so we are now back at near full strength based on current market conditions. Also, when the market is running at capacity it usually trades at ten per cent of the total stock 4,800 houses equals 480 sales per year. Over the period of the GFC the numbers of houses sold dropped back to between five per cent (240 houses) and seven per cent (336 houses).
The problem is that the vast majority shoot from the hip when making these investment decisions over those who actually study the relevant data, although they will all admit their decision was data driven.

It’s interesting to compare to what happens in real estate given so few fully analyse real estate markets comprehensively. Also, one can’t rule out being persuaded by false and incorrect data given the majority of investors in real estate would be fixated on graphs like this one.

Sydney's investor demographic is like one big Ponzi scheme

The unusual Hollander House, the Antonio Gaudi-style home at Newport on Sydney’s northern beaches, has been listed for sale.
The hand-formed ferro-cement house is without question one of the finest examples of true organic architecture in Australia. 
"Hollander House is free form and highly contemporary and will appeal to those who think different," <a href="https://www.modernhouse.co/listings/hollander-house/" target="_blank">the marketing from </a><a href="https://www.modernhouse.co/listings/hollander-house/" target="_blank">Modern House</a>, a specialist estate agency for architect-designed residences, suggests. No formal price guidance has been issued, but an ambitious $1.5 million has been mooted in both the local papers.
The current owner is Californian-born interior designer Nancy Renzi of Renzi Design.
The property at 81 Grandview Drive was designed by David Hollander and built between 1969 to 1971 following the contours of the land like a giant rock formation.
"It evokes memories of Antonio Gaudi’s Barcelona architecture with the optimism of the future, think Zaha Hadid but with texture," the marketing suggested.
It first featured in Australian House and Garden, September, 1971, then voted one of the top five houses of the year, Australian House and Garden, 1973. Vogue Australia featured it in 1975.
Hollander developed a floor plan enveloping three levels beginning at the entrance hall and office, continuing through the living area to the kitchen/dining area, and ultimately ascending to the casual recreation room at the highest elevation.
His elliptical walls have curves which he thought were correct aesthetically, having found a heavily treed allotment just below the crest with a restrained excavation of the site for his new home. 
Recent additions to the design include an outdoor bath in the private deck from the main bedroom and a large entertaining deck off the kitchen with an outdoor fireplace as a centrepiece. There is 180 square metre internal space for the house engineered by E Perry and built by B A Moore on the 904 square metre block.
Hollander designed it for his own use and lived there for 14 years. Stephen and Meredith D'alton sold the house in 1990 for $230,000. It last traded at $860,000 in 2011.

David Hollander trained at the University of Sydney in the mid-1960s, later joining the Canberra office of Towel Rippon and Associates before accepting a position with the Sydney practice Devine Erby Mazlin (today DEM) in 1974. 
Some of Australia’s most celebrated circular-plan buildings include Roy Grounds’ Australian Academy of Science building at the Australian National University, Canberra (1956) and on a domestic scale, Peter Muller’s dome-roofed Kumale, in nearby Barrenjoey Road, Palm Beach (1955).
<a href="/news">Newport</a>, which sits between the Pacific Ocean to the east and Pittwater to the west, is a 20 minute drive to <a href="/news">Palm Beach</a> or <a href="/news">Manly</a>.
Newport is situated 31 kilometres north of Sydney’s CBD.

Organic 1970s Hollander House, the Gaudi-style home at Newport, listed

The 47-room Newport Mirage Hotel on Sydney’s northern beaches has been sold for $10 million to a Chinese buyer.
The deal was struck on a 9% yield through CBRE hotel agents Andrew Jackson and Paul Kapiris.
It was sold by the Bayfield family at the lower end of the estimated $10 million to $12 million reported sale prospect.
The Bayfields also own the Newport Arms Hotel, The Dee Why Hotel and Bayfields Liquor Superstore.
The family has owned the four-star hotel and function centre on the water since 2000.
It was the first hotel purchase for the undisclosed Chinese group.
