Sekisui House Australia's decade-long redevelopment of the Peter's Ice Cream Factory in West End, is approaching its conclusion.

Construction has officially kicked off at Callista on Park, the final tower in the $1.2 billion, multi award-winning precinct. Hutchinson Builders, who have delivered every stage of West Village over the past nine years, will deliver Callista on Park, 96 luxury apartments and an abundance of resident facilities across a sculptural 14-storey tower.

West Village Project Director Taku Hashimoto said Callista on Park represented the final opportunity to purchase an off-the-plan residence in the multi-award-winning community.

“Callista on Park is the last-ever instalment of West Village’s masterplan that has breathed new life into this heritage precinct, providing new green spaces, residential buildings, and cultural and commercial spaces alongside more than 35 retail, dining and health operators,” Hashimoto said.

“As the final premium residential offering in the precinct, Callista on Park will continue to deliver homes of the highest quality finishes, bespoke design detail, and spacious indoor and outdoor areas, perfectly suited to Brisbane’s sub-tropical lifestyle with access to amazing amenities on the doorstep.

“We are proud to extend our trusted 10-year partnership with Hutchinson Builders to complete this visionary community, cementing West Village as one of Brisbane’s most celebrated urban renewal projects.’’

Hutchinson Builders Chairman Scott Hutchinson said the family company had created some of West End’s most important buildings over the past nine decades.

“Hutchies has actually been part of West End since the 1920s when we had our original yard on Montague Road,’’ Hutchinson said.

“We’ve also had a long history with the site, having worked on the original Peters ice cream building in 1943 and since 2015, we’ve built every stage of the new West Village precinct, including the refurbishment of the ice cream factory.

“It’s a bit surreal to be starting this final stage. The whole Hutchies’ team is very proud to have played a part in such an iconic mixed-use precinct that is close to our hearts.’’

Callista on Park, located adjacent to Mollison Park, is the final piece of the masterplan that will provide almost 1,000 apartments across eight residential towers, two townhouses, the Greenhouse commercial building, and the restored Peters ice cream factory with its retail and dining spaces.

Designed by award-winning architecture studio Rothelowman, the distinctive new residences feature generous balconies, most located on the northern and eastern face to capture views down Melbourne Street and across the Brisbane CBD, and ample natural light to create quality outdoor spaces.

A unique feature is the building’s rooftop conservatory, where wildflowers will grow amongst undulating grassed areas and residents will enjoy premium recreational spaces including an infinity pool, spa, BBQ areas, lounge, and private dining room with a chef’s kitchen.

The first release of three and four-bedroom apartments meets the growing demand for house-size, low-maintenance residences in the inner city, with prices starting from $2.4 million for three bedroom residences.

West Village, with a 99/100 walk score, is a stroller’s paradise located only 800m from the Brisbane CBD, close to prestigious schools, universities and hospitals, with the River Walk connecting to South Bank’s parkland precinct.

Hashimoto said West Village had evolved into an energetic inner-city neighbourhood over the past decade, and a retail, dining and cultural destination in its own right.

“West Village is a community designed to be treasured for generations to come,’’ he said.

“It is fitting that this final stage connects with, and embodies, our values of community, sustainability and design-driven amenity to elevate people’s experience of where they live.

“There will never be another opportunity like it at West Village.’’

Callista on Park is due for completion in late 2027.
