Brisbane-based <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/red-co">Red &amp; Co Developments</a> has officially launched its $250million COMO apartment development in Varsity Lakes, while simultaneously commencing construction.&nbsp;

Building work is now underway at COMO following the appointment of <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/builders/5point-projects">5Point Projects</a> as contractor to deliver the boutique development which will rise on a 2857 sqm site overlooking Lake Orr at 22 Lake Street.

Longstanding Gold Coast developer Raptis has acquired a prime development site on Surf Parade for its next Broadbeach apartment project.

Progressing towards completion of <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-sterling-broadbeach-6-8-george-avenue-broadbeach-qld-4218">The Sterling Broadbeach</a>, 90 apartments on nearby George Avenue, <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/developers/raptis">Raptis</a>, led by second-generation family man Evan Raptis, has picked up a block on the corner of Surf Parade and First Avenue.

The site had been earmarked for a luxury apartment project with 33 full-floor apartments across a 37-storey tower. Raptis will go back to the drawing board and create a building more appropriate for the site. The development application will be lodged later this month.

Evan Raptis told Apartments.com.au the site ticks all the boxes.

"Broadbeach is a suburb we've developed several buildings over the years. Surf Parade ticks all the boxes for the type of apartment development we want to deliver."

Raptis had several pre-lodgement meetings with council to ensure they are aligned in the development.

Surf Parade has emerged in recent years as one of the most popular streets in Broadbeach for development.

South East Queensland developer Mosaic Property Group kicked it off with Marella by Mosaic. Bassar Group sold out Infinity on the street, while for its&nbsp;first Gold Coast development, Polycell grabbed a Surf Parade site for <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/the-rochester-broadbeach-143-surf-parade-broadbeach-qld-4218">The Rochester</a>, which is nearly sold out.

Melbourne-based developer Hirsch &amp; Faigen recently launched its fourth Gold Coast project on the exclusive strip. The Eveleigh Broadbeach will have 100 apartments across a 31-storey building designed by Rothelowman.

GV Property Group site development specialists Antonio Mercuri and Luke Reaby, who both amalgamate sites and sell shovel-ready sites to developers up and down the Gold Coast, sold Surf Parade to Raptis.

Hirsch & Faigen unveils The Eveleigh in Broadbeach

Two years after securing development approval for the final stage of its award-winning Thornton Precinct on the doorstep of Penrith Station, Urban Property Group is set to launch <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/mayfair-on-penrith-172-lord-sheffield-circuit-penrith-nsw-2750">Mayfair on Penrith</a>, around 400 apartments designed to reflect two of Sydney’s most iconic structures.

The builder-developer has continued refining the design plans for the two-building development on a significant 8,280 sqm site on Sheffield Circuit, recognising the importance of the prime parcel as one of the closest developable sites to the station.

UPG enlisted architecture firm SJB to design the project. The team said they drew inspiration from both the General Post Office in Martin Place and East Circular Quay to help shape the design. The two-level colonnade, in particular, reflects the famous GPO building, which dates back to the 1860s.

There will be one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments on offer, with interiors by Cox Architecture. The developer also has a 4.5-star iCIRT rating, one of the best ratings in market providing further confidence to buyers.

Urban Property Group CEO Patrick Elias said providing additional assurance to off-the-plan buyers has become increasingly important.

“Anything we can do to give confidence in our product is a plus,” Elias told Apartments.com.au.

“Consumers are a lot more weary and a lot more concerned in buying off the plan than they ever have been. They’re making their single large investment, which is their home, and providing confidence is something that we feel is paramount.”

The LDI policy provides a 10-year warranty covering structural defects, with independent inspections carried out during construction and protection for owners if defects arise post-completion.

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout held each year across the country has raised $7 million in vital funds for the St Vincent de Paul Society's on the ground services.
The event was <a href="https://www.ceosleepout.org.au" target="_blank">held overnight</a>, with the $7 million tally being exceeded by late morning today.
It will go higher as Geelong and Perth will hold their sleep out on Thursday 27 June 2019.
Sydney raised $1.9 million, but the top fund raiser was BankSA Adelaide CEO Nick Reade, who has raised $206,130 so far.
He's followed by Vedran Drakulic, boss of Gandel Philanthropy in Melbourne ($179,198) and ERM Power CEO Jon Stretch from Brisbane ($106,297).
Shayne Elliott at the ANZ raised $43,000 in his first sleep out.
There were many property industry participants too.
Crown Resorts chief executive Barry Felstead raised $59,434, David Hyman, boss of home loan lender Lendi, raised $25,222 and Nathan Casserly, who heads up Ouwens Casserly Real Estate, raised $20,357.
Michele Adair, the CEO at The Housing Trust, slept out at Wollongong.
Genworth Mortgage Insurance Australia CEO Georgette Nicholas, who is shortly returning to the US after five years in Sydney, raise $25,000.
Hotelier Jerry Schwartz raised a record $26,000, on his 10th sleep out, with donations coming from his Crowne Hunter Valley staff.
Laing O'Rourke's Jeremy Matterson raised $11,781, noted his first sleep out had been prompted after seeing homelessness around Sydney's Central Station where he is working on delivering the new Sydney Metro.
Estate agents included Sam Abboud at Woodards Ascot Vale who secured a donation from the Woodards Foundation.
In Sydney R&amp;W Mosman agent Geoff Grist raised $6000 plus on his fifth sleep out, securing donations from other estate agents including Melbourne agent James Tostevin.
The $7 million in total raised equates 619,819 beds being provided, nearly 1.6 million meals and nearly two million individual support programs.
The sleep out is sponsored by The Australian and Sky News, as its national partners.

CBRE staff from 22 offices across Asia Pacific will take part in the ninth annual Walk for a Wish event – the firm’s flagship charity fundraiser. 
Some 2,500 CBRE employees will walk 10 kilometres in their respective cities tomorrow, on Friday, November 16, to raise funds for various charitable organisations.

ASIC has accepted an enforceable undertaking (EU) from Barakah Properties Pty Ltd (Barakah) arising from ASIC's concerns as to how the company raised money to build a school in Melbourne.
Since 2009 Barakah has raised money from the local community for investment in the Al Siraat College, an Islamic school in Epping, Victoria.
In December 2015, ASIC made enquiries regarding the company’s fundraising, its structure, and the nature of the information that it had provided to potential investors.
ASIC’s enquires indicated, among other things, that:
<ul>
<li>Barakah had obtained funds without providing investors with the necessary disclosure, and had exceeded the maximum number of shareholders for a private company.</li>
<li>The company’s representatives had made recommendations to potential investors that may have amounted to providing financial advice without a license to give that advice.</li>
<li>The company had bought back its own shares without following the necessary share buy-back procedures.</li>
</ul>
After ASIC raised these concerns with Barakah, the company offered, and ASIC accepted, an EU in which Barakah agreed:
<ul>
<li>not to offer securities without providing the necessary disclosure to potential investors.</li>
<li>not to purchase its own shares without following the correct procedures</li>
<li>to remove from its website any advertising of securities that required disclosure to investors</li>
<li>that it and/or its representatives would not provide financial advice in the future without first obtaining a licence or authorisation.</li>
<li>to take the necessary steps to convert from a private company to a public one</li>
<li>write to all current investors alerting them to the EU and its terms.</li>
</ul>
'Companies seeking to raise funds from the public must comply with the disclosure provisions of the Corporations Act,' ASIC Commissioner John Price said.  'For certain types of companies there are required procedures and information that must be disclosed under the law. Also, If you have any doubts you should obtain appropriate legal guidance. The EU with Barakah shows what can happen if companies do not adhere to these requirements.'

The Property Industry Foundation (PIF) is set to raise some $600,000 this month from two of its core fundraising events which will be channelled into programs for at risk and homeless youth, including the Foundation’s own PIF House initiative.
The Middle Harbour Yacht Club recently hosted the Yachting Regatta in Sydney on 11 March, 2016.  
This week, the Foundation will hold its Sailing Challenge at the Royal Brighton Yacht Club with around 40 yachts expected to participate. The Property Industry Foundation (PIF)’s annual Charity Sailing Challenge will be held on Friday 18 March to raise funds to support homeless and at risk young people in Victoria.
