Sydney developer Deicorp is set to officially open its <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/hills-showground-village-castle-hill-2-mandala-parade-castle-hill-nsw-2154">Showground Village</a> precinct in Castle Hill.

NSW Premier Chris Minns will attend the opening on Sunday August 31, alongside&nbsp;Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully, The Hills Shire Council Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne, Landcom CEO Alex Wendler, and Deicorp Founder Fouad Deiri.

ASX-listed developer Cedar Woods is progressing its plans for its Southbank arts precinct site.&nbsp;

The developer has filed plans, which are now with the&nbsp;Department of Transport and Planning, for a new 20-level tower at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-apartments/141-151-sturt-street-southbank-vic-3006">141–151 Sturt Street</a>, a 2,718 sqm block opposite the Habitat Filter sculpture.

The proposal seeks to demolish the two-level&nbsp;commercial building, including a small supermarket and medical tenancies, and create a new building with 180 apartments and a focus on an&nbsp;active public realm and arts integration.

Retail, creative arts, and residential amenity functions are integrated across the lower levels. A food and drink tenancy is planned to front Dodds Street, while a retail tenancy fronting Sturt Street will be accessed via an elevated walkway. The first floor includes a substantial 734 sqm creative arts space, envisioned to support Melbourne’s growing cultural and digital industries.

Architecture firm <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/architects/rothelowman">Rothelowman</a> has put together the plans. In their&nbsp;Urban Design Report they highlighted the project’s ambition to embed itself within Southbank’s evolving cultural fabric.

A central feature of the design is a through-block link connecting Sturt and Dodds Streets, landscaped with native plantings and embedded with universal access ramps.

“The ramp has been thoughtfully integrated as the primary access point, ensuring universal accessibility for all users,” the report noted, with the link offering “a direct response to the urban planning scheme of creating more green spaces within our communities”.

The building’s podium form responds to the mandatory height limits along Dodds Street and maintains a fine-grain interface to adjoining developments. Above the podium, the tower is articulated with recessed balconies and a focus on views toward the CBD and surrounding arts institutions. A communal rooftop recreation deck and indoor lounge are positioned on level four, adjoining seven apartments and providing over 900 sqm of resident amenity space.

Vehicle access and loading will be provided via Dodds Street, with 155 resident car spaces located across two basement levels and the first three above-ground floors. Bicycle storage is more generous, with 226 spaces distributed across resident, staff and visitor needs.

Rothelowman describes the architecture as “humanist,” with ground-level interfaces designed to encourage social interaction and provide a dignified entry for both residents and passers-by. “All street interfaces are crafted to invite and nurture human connections,” the design report states. “The façade transitions to a human scale, providing an approachable and engaging streetscape”.

Cedar Woods, while well-known for its large communities it develops outside of Australia's capital cities, they have recently developed in Melbourne's inner-ring before. They are approaching completion at <a href="https://www.apartments.com.au/new-townhouses/88-leveson-north-melbourne-88-leveson-street-north-melbourne-vic-3051">88 Leveson</a>, just 15 townhouses in the heart of North Melbourne.

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, owner of English Premier League football club Chelsea, owns the $1.5 billion Eclipse, the second most expensive boat in the world.
He's regularly on the gigantic 170 metre yacht built by Blohm and Voss of Germany and designed by Terence Disdale. 
It has a mini submarine capable of submerging up to 50 metres underwater.
Abramovich is rarely photographed on the boat, namely due to the fact there's an anti-paparazzi shield which consists of lasers sweeping the surrounding areas.

There is an application to turn Portofino, the adjacent $60 million luxury home, into a block of three flats by the little-known Chinese multi-millionaire stock trader Andy Wenlei Song.
Portofino (pictured below, centre) was the longtime three-level home of luxury car dealer and yachtsman Neville “Croaky” Crichton and his then fiancée — now wife — Nadi Hasandedic.

Crichton bought the property in 1994 for $5.9 million from helicopter pilot Bruce Rose and his wife, Pam, who held the only private helicopter landing rights in the eastern suburbs, which have now lapsed.
The New Zealand-born Crichton had commissioned Auckland-based architects Swan Railley Clapham &amp; Associates to design his Tuscan-style abode.
It is not known if the intention is to flip or hold, perhaps as a multi-generational family compound.

'Aussie' John Symond set for new Point Piper neighbours

Labor’s negative gearing policy was a “hand grenade” that could tip Australia into recession, mortgage broking pioneer John Symond has warned.

“I don’t care whether it was Liberal, Labor or the Greens, if they come out with such a radical move that could tip the economy over, I’ll be outspoken,” Mr Symond told The Australian.
“I appreciate that they say they’ll grandfather existing investors, but the unintended consequences would be astronomical.
“I am concerned that it would do so much damage — unemployment, higher interest rates — it could tip us into recession.”
Mr Symond said grandfathering negative gearing would help first-home buyers get into the market.
But it would “hurt the vast majority of Australians” who already own a home because established property prices would fall.
“Every home through every street will be impacted.
"You’ll have tens of thousands of people in negative equity. Bank balance sheets will be whacked and so funding costs will be higher.
“Banks will lend less, banks will earn less, share prices will fall and it will impact superannuation fund returns,” he said.
“It will be a nuclear bomb.
"There will be very little incentive for people to get into property.”

Aussie John Symond slams Labor negative gearing housing policy

John Symond, the high-profile founder of Aussie Home Loans, is selling off some paintings set to fetch around $5 million or so from the Sotheby's sale.
Some were mentioned in a privately published book on his collection.
The 14 of Symond's surplus artworks top the line-up at <a href="https://www.sothebysaustralia.com.au/catalogue/AU0830" target="_blank">Sotheby's November 20 sale</a> including John Brack's Pantomime (above).
Pantomime has a presale estimate of $500,000 to $700,000. It last publicly sold at auction for $282,000, including premium, in December 2003.
Jeffrey Smart's 1965 Piazza D'Esedra has a presale estimate is $300,000 to $400,000, compared with the $135,250 the picture last fetched at Sotheby's in November 2003
He wants nothing in storage, following a rationalisation of what has always been a relatively disciplined collection.

John Symond moves to sell some artwork

Aussie John Symond's former Pymble trophy home Barkstone has been relisted for sale.
The luxury Telegraph Road home was owned by Symond in the late 1980s. He renovated the 1900s Federation and sold it for $3.25 million in 1992.
It last traded for $5.36 million when bought by the Wu family.
The six bedroom home features high patterned ceilings, stained glass windows, fireplaces and return verandas.
There's a grand entry foyer, sitting room, separate banquet dining room, library and a billiards room.
It's set on 4,000 sqm that includes a tennis court, swimming pool and self-contained house-keepers accomodation, separate from the house.

Telegraph Road was originally called Military Road, but was renamed in 1883 after a telegraph line was erected.
Aussie John is based in Point Piper at his opulent Windagal Place home, once dubbed Aussie Stadium.
Earlier this year it was marketed in China with price hopes of over $100 million.
Earlier this year he sold his Point Piper penthouse to Angela Teplisky, estranged wife of property developer Michael Teplisky, for around $13 million.
The sale has stalled however after a caveat was lodged six months ago.
The two-storey penthouse cost Symond $8.16 million when he bought from jailed fraudster Nati Stoliar in 2010.
