In Melbourne's leafy GLEN IRIS, brand-new apartments are in short supply.

With GALERIE GLEN IRIS nearing completion and nearly sold out, options in the sought-after High Street area are becoming scarce.

Enter local developer Avier, who has been quietly working on a new boutique apartment project called Avery, arriving just in time to meet the demand.

Avery, at 1542-1544 High Street, comprises just 24 apartments across a boutique low-rise building designed by Alta Architecture. Alta embraced the principles of wabi-sabi, a Japanese design philosophy that emphasises natural simplicity and strength.

Alta Architecture's Alvin Xu said the aim was to create tranquillity within the busy city environment, integrating natural elements and gardens into indoor living spaces to foster a sense of calm.

“I’d been exploring this idea of wabi-sabi for years," Xu said.

"With Avery, I was inspired to create tranquillity within an increasingly busy city and install calm into every aspect of the design. I wanted to sustainably connect nature and the garden to the indoor living spaces.

"Ultimately, I tried to make a place I would want to spend time in, that feels like home as soon as you step inside."

The apartments are designed to maximize natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows, and winter gardens that serve as versatile balconies for year-round enjoyment. A central fireplace adds warmth to the living area.

The kitchens feature sleek, stone-like surfaces paired with dark gunmetal fixtures. A central island bench with dedicated seating is perfect for both entertaining and dining.

Residents will also have access to a private zen garden, complete with sand and a stone sculpture, providing a tranquil space for reflection.

Located in Glen Iris with views over Stonnington, the apartments are conveniently close to the Burke Rd/High St tram stop, the Harold Holt Swim Centre, and several highly regarded public and private schools.

Avey GLEN IRIS has just kicked off construction.
