Ian Harper to replace John Edwards on RBA board

The RBA board member John Edwards, a former chief economist for HSBC and adviser to former prime minister Paul Keating, has not been given a second five year term.

He will be replaced early by Professor Ian Harper, who recently headed the government's competition policy review.

It is unusual that board members are given a second term.
